The most visually pleasing, but Sternblade's is the most vicious - seeing the graphic death of his enemies burnt to a cinder and then thrown off screen like trash!
It's interesting how Tyris stays with her fire magic through the series while everyone else switch their magic from thunder, to earth, to wind, to water, etc.

Still dont understand why they changed his lightening to rocks? And you can tell how limited they were porting it over from arcade to Mega Drive for GA1. But the fire magic in 2 was so awesome could only imagine that in the arcade version. But it's ironic isn't that the 2nd to a few games looked better Streets of Rage 2 GA2 compared to 3 in graphics
Hated the Golden axe series I never understood the compulsion of side scrolling beat em ups perhaps it was just young guys trying to come across as hard back in the day. Anyway I do love to see these videos of all the magic attacks and see how they evolved over the years as the systems had more horse power to produce better effects.
It was a dumb decision Axe Battler is a barbarian who uses earth magic in GA1 but than changed to Wind in GA2 which makes no sense And Gilles THUNDERhead used thunder GA1 the his name says it all but than in GA2 they changed it to Earth magic which was stupid At least Tyris Flare was consistent
@@csmith3248 And those Magic attacks lacked any type of imagination. In presence and execution. Golden Axe 2 should have been a 16-Meg upgrade in the same ballpark as Streets Of Rage to Streets Of Rage 2.

Apart from the good idea of the mixed magical attack, Golden Axe 3 is a disappointment: the effects are mediocre and some of them are artistically ugly

The magic spells, enemies screaming in agony & ability to ride dragons is what made this game a constant coin dropper at the pizza parlor or arcade.
