I really enjoyed this format. I grew up shooting a drop block. 22lr with the split leaf site. As kid, I applied almost the same principle without the luxury of a scope. When I joined the Army and attended advanced markmen shooting course. I had a difficult time unlearning what I was accustomed to and then learned MRAD. Now, years later, I am laughing at myself, watching you, and remembering myself without any guidance, figure out drop beyond 25 to 100 meters. Thank you for sharing

It’s nice to see the basic fundamentals of shooting that was good enough for the last 100 years rather than having all the gear but no idea that so many self confessed experts seem to have on RUclips. Really interesting and informative video Chris, well done and keep up the good work.👍

Nice, 2.3 on a level shot for me @ 100m CZ457 fluted thin hole falcon M18+ ffp with Wildcat Panther
SK yellow Chronograph speed avg 1058fps
    Strelok pro trued.
Awesome fun trying to hit clays at 300-320 on dirt to walk the wind in.
Also zero’d at 50m just because the local club has a 50m range.
I learnt about this stuff mainly from Ted Bier on Teds Hold over. Brilliant stuff.

Lesson I learnt last week once you zero at 50m with 1 make of ammunition don't change ammunition brand spec

Chris what a great video. I have the Plain Black Stock-Stainless on order. As an old codger I am learning to respect your advice (wisdom) if I want to shoot a rifle with better groupings. One BIG question I have is your feelings on NEW barrel break-in process. Is it needed for 22 calibers. I have seen mixed reviews and was wondering what your feelings are. If you have it on one of your videos, I have not watched but would like to know which one. Your help is greatly appreciated. K

I don't bother with 22 Rimfires, the mead is too soft to do anything vigorous immediately

2.1 eh? Here (737 m above sea level, fairly dry), at a 50m zero, it's 1.8 to 1.9 Mils of drop at 100m. MV is roughly 1050 to 1100 fps.

I’m picking up the base model CZ457 in Australia, has plain black stock with the short varmint barrel. I don’t know if this model is available elsewhere.
For me, a budget heavy short varmint barrel is a better starting point to build up a target/hunting rifle, I could have put another $200 Australian and got this thinner stainless barrel rifle but worried about the accuracy changing with temperature (living in the tropics)

Chris why is this model not available in 17hmr ? It doesn't make sense!
