If you’ve never heard of it you can add corn bread on top of chili in a casserole dish and follow the directions as you do with your casserole. Same thing. Same concept. Very good. Very homey.
Yay to the new video. I have been wanting some casserole dishes for my family and a friend who is recently widowed. Between videos and the Club, you have my printer on overdrive. Thanks ladies!
Thank you again for more inspirational freezer meals for me and my family to try along with many others. I love Veggie Tales…. I think even more than my Hubby and our boys! Hehe. Much love and God Bless from our family to the both of yours from Australia xxxx
No, it is a topping mix l make...1 cup Bisquick, 1/2 cup milk and 1 egg. Mix well and pour over top. Depending on what l am making, l sometimes add a bit of garlic powder. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown. I use this for cheater Chicken Pot Pie and Taco/Chili Bake.
Thank you, ladies, so much for sharing these! Being a single elder, anything easy is a godsend. I really want to try the beef hash recipe first, but I am going to add some mixed bell peppers to it. Keep up the great work! I love your videos, and you've inspired me so much. I actually made 2 weeks' worth of 4 different dinners and will be doing more! Thanks again!🥰 🍴
Love this video!! Being a duel US Canadian citizen who was born in Southern California I think you'd get a more authentic tamale flavor by using Masa flour which is used to make corn tortillas and tamales. I found mine at No Frills in the Edmonton area but I bet Superstore and Save On foods would probably have it too. Just substitute the Masa for the cornmeal. I wish we had Jiffy here, it's something I bring home when I go visit family among other favorite things I miss!
Hey there Christie and Sharla!! 👋👋OMG. We can't get corn muffin mixes on the east coast (of Canada), either. When we used to live in New Brunswick, we'd sometimes to go Calais, ME, and we get groceries (and gas up! LOL). I used to pick up 10 or 12 of the Jiffy boxes of Corn Muffin mix!! I loved that stuff. Yum Yum Yum! Nothing like that here, though. You never disappoint! Your recipes always inspire. There are two of these that I will be making very soon: Lazy Chicken Parm and Beef Hash. Mmmmmmmm Thank you both for being so YOU!! Genuine and lovely. Can't wait for the next one! 🥰😘
I remember someone in our FB group living in England attempted to make her own. I think she just tried a recipe she found online. I hope you have some luck with it. 😊
Speaking of things we cant get in the US...the kraft sundried tomato and oregano! I can only find it on Amazon shipping from Canada and it is $17!! Any substitute you all would recommend? Loving the kitchen! Happy birthday month!!!!❤
Oh no! So I see that Marzetti Simply, Walden Farms, and Organicville all have similar dressings. Alternately, there are lots of homemade recipes for it online (but the point is to take that step out and and make it easier for you with the storebought!)
@FreezerMeals101 well thank you so much for replying! I will look into those brands. I am all for making it homemade tho..I usually make most of our dressings, mayo, ranch, mustard, etc. So I'm not against it.
We have several videos showing individual meals that we make and we give tips on how to adapt recipes to do it for yourself! ruclips.net/p/PL0HOtnw6h2BlRtMn8pJs7K0gk4uXsj1oD&si=hihTnbbZaHMzcyTL
Could you do more fish recipes (beyond tuna)? Loving all the recipes but me and a group of us are dropping our red meats for more fish, because of our fertility journeys
We love seafood! How kind of you to make meals for your friend. I'm glad these will help.
Tamale pie is one my 9 year old loves to mix up and make for dinner when it's her turn to "cook" 😊

You are so welcome!
Thank you ladies!😊
Our pleasure!
Also in Canada, for the Tamale Casserole instead of Cornbread Mix, I tend to use Bisquick Mix.
Oh interesting! So like biscuits instead of corn bread. That would be good too! Or do you mix cornmeal into the Bisquick to make corn bread?

Christie, your curls are fabulous!
Thanks!
I love your videos and recipes so much! Thank you both for all you do!!
Thank you so much!
You could also save husks from corn to make tamales with😊

If you do try making tamales they freeze well

That's such a good idea. I wouldn't have even thought of that! Thanks for the tip! ❤️

I have 2 gallon zipper bags so i will definately put that huge casserole in there.
I was just looking up casseroles and your video came in at a perfect time 0:56
How perfect!
Sunset Gourmet - a Canadian company has a good cornbread mix.
Oh thank you! We'll have to watch for it!
Cool
Yeah .
Dont have tater tots in Australia and would love you to find out more on making your own.
I remember someone in our FB group living in England attempted to make her own. I think she just tried a recipe she found online. I hope you have some luck with it. 😊
Amazon has the 2 gallon zip lock bags.
When I see corn bread mix at DollarTree, I stock up.
Jiffy corn bread mix at Walmart here in U.S.A only cost $.52 for a 8.5oz.
Oh wow!

For the chicken in the recipes what is the best way to cook it. Do you cube it then fry or what?
We prefer to cook it on a baking sheet in the oven, but an instant pot would be ok too.
I love this concept but I am single and live alone how would you adapt for a single person. ❤❤❤

I make my hamburger in the instant pot! Then I freeze it
That totally works!

Real tamales don't have sugar in the corn meal mixture. I reallly prefer to make my own cornbread with no sugar for this casserole.
That is good to know. I didn't super-love the mix, so I think I would do that next time too.
your tamale casserole needs 1 can drained beans either pinto, black or kidney beans
Thank you for the suggestion as we're still playing around with that recipe.
