Shot 84 today with a bunch of 3 putts and garbage chips. 0 fairways missed with the driver, super excited to get my game to a new level with a simmy!!!
Great video, I have watched it many times. About the mattress pad, your link currently goes to an Amazon blue 2'' pad. Is this the same pad that you ended up using (the green pad that you suggested). Thank you!
That’s the same pad I ended up using, however I recently upgraded my Carls Screen to the new Carls C series and the bounce back is greatly improved, so I no longer need the matress pad.
Carls actually upgraded their screen to the C-series cable design. The new design made it so I no longer needed the mattress topper as the recoil is a lot better.
I just put up the green king size topper using bungees on the top 1 inch EMT frame pipe. Great results but you do see the outline and it is brighter slightly. Did you try the blackout curtain idea? Would you put them on in front or behind the topper?
@@spencerbliven5215 Yes me too! The link in the description just sent me to the blue one in 2inch thick. The green one look way better on keeping the bounce low!
Do you exclusively use cables on the new C-series screen vs. the included zip ties? Do you loop every hole or every other one etc.? I'm having a tough time getting a wrinkle or two out of the impact screen, still working on this.
Wait another week, carls is releasing a new enclosure! I’ll have a video about it soon. Mine is a custom DIY through their tool. Check the channel for that video
It was a memory foam type. However, I switched to the new C-Series Carls screen that was just released and the bounce back was improved so much that I no longer need the topper anymore! Check out my latest video.
I switched to the new Carl's C-Series design that uses a cable on the bottom and it actually doesn't require a pad behind the screen anymore as the bounce back is significantly better! If you need one though, the one I linked is correct.
Nice video, I still work around this idea of foam with the impact screen, please can you put me in right direction, which are the difference for the 2 Foam, how I found the low kick back one? thanks
The thing with the two boards of the top is genius. I poked holes for zip ties on mine. I may have to do this. And may have to check out the green mattress topper since I'm using the white one
It has been a year since this video. Any issues with your mattress topper shredding? I am debating going your route, or using a white archery net behind my impact screen instead of a mattress topper. Thanks.
Im looking at putting a simulator in my garage with a net that i can putup and take down as needed since I do park my car in my garage, I'm curious if a memory foam matress topper would work for protecting the back wall which I would be hitting into?
@Golf RnD I bought something that is more of a "cage" type of net and plan to use Eyelets in the celling of the garage as that gives me side gaurds as well incase I hit a shank, or have an extremely closed/open face at impact, I feel more comfortable using that, I just want something that would protect the drywall that would be along the back of the net.
Thanks for the info, I’m also going to do the same, what’s the black boarder material that runs across the bottom of your screen and how is it attached? Looks like a nice finish and I want to do the same..
Great video and info! Question, I'm building my sim now, Gungho golf is telling me to have 18 inches behind impact screen to the wall. If I put one of these memory foam toppers an inch behind my impact screen do you think I still need to have another 12+ inches from foam topper to back wall?
We had a tv mounted there before it became the sim room. It used to be a game room with a pool table, darts, original Nintendo... all the good stuff. Now it's even better!
Thank you for making such informative videos! Do you have all of your screen bungies attached to the frame or did you remove any of them to help with bounce back? Do you let the mattress topper hang without any attachments at the bottom? Is the topper long enough to absorb shots that hit the lowest aspect of the screen?
Thanks for the video. Would it be okay to put the foam directly on the wall? How far between the wall and memory foam would you recommend? And also between the foam and the impact screen?
Do you think if the mattress pad was touching you would get even less bounce back? Im hitting very close to my screen and want to minimize bounceback as much as possible. Keep up the good content Thanks
You would get more bounce back if it were touching. I originally had the topper touching the screen and another downfall was you could see the outline of the mattress pad.
This worked pretty well in the beginning but after about 200 shots I noticed some bounce back only to see holes in the green tea mattress pad. My driver ball speed is 160+ which is likely the culprit and thus those driver strikes are somewhere in the 40s of those 200.
For folks like me who are tinkering with a DIY screen, this is super valuable stuff!

Great video, very helpful. I do not see the link to the 1.5 inch denser memory topper. Thanks
They might be out of stock. But with amazons return policy, perhaps there’s another one that you can test.
Great setup here man. Inspired me to do the same. Thanks for the vid. Just subscribed
That's great! Thanks for subscribing.
Great set-up, a lot of trial and error, in process of setting mine up shortly and is very helpful to see what works and what doesn’t, thanks 👍
Hi, once you pull and attach the impact screen to the ceiling, do you let it hang loose at the floor? If so, doesn't it wrinkle after dozens of shots?
Did you mattress topper hold up? I used the green tea topper and it is starting to tear up after a few weeks use. Back to the drawing board for me
was it making holes? or just the material degrading?
Using this topper www.amazon.com/LINENSPA-Infused-Memory-Mattress-California/dp/B01N2HFC4J
Are you using the 2 inch mattress topper or 3 inch ?

thanks for the tip. i'm going to do this exact same thing. thanks btw because of you i ended up going with a carls screen and love it.
What’s mattress topper is the green one?
I tried the memory foam Backstop and destroyed the driver impact zone. I would sure like to know what material works best. Thank you
Carls actually upgraded their screen to the C-series cable design. The new design made it so I no longer needed the mattress topper as the recoil is a lot better.
@@PixelGolf do you still use cables on the new C-series screen vs. the zip ties? do you feel cables offer more give and less bounce back?
What about the bottom section. I have the custom one and if you hit right on the bottom of the screen you can get some bounce back
Which custom one are you referring to? Feel free to give me a call. Info is on our website, pixelgolfco.com
I just put up the green king size topper using bungees on the top 1 inch EMT frame pipe. Great results but you do see the outline and it is brighter slightly. Did you try the blackout curtain idea? Would you put them on in front or behind the topper?
I set mine a few inches behind the screen by attaching it to the back of the frame. You don’t see it with this method.
Richard can you link the green pad you bought?
@@spencerbliven5215 Yes me too! The link in the description just sent me to the blue one in 2inch thick. The green one look way better on keeping the bounce low!

Check the channel for how to get a flat screen.
Do you have a discount code for carl’s place?
Unfortunately they do not offer any discount codes at this time, but we do have a discounted package on their site in the descriptions.
Thanks for the Vid, I’m going to order my DIY enclosures soon. What size DIY enclosure is this?
Wait another week, carls is releasing a new enclosure! I’ll have a video about it soon. Mine is a custom DIY through their tool. Check the channel for that video
Which impact screen did you end up using? The standard or preferred?
Premium
Sorry also how thick was the foam?
Can you send the link for the topper. I looked on your description and it doesn’t work on Amazon.
www.amazon.com/LINENSPA-Infused-Memory-Mattress-California/dp/B01N2HFC4J
@Golf RnD is this the green tea one you said worked better? I only see one topper in the description
I don’t see that one any longer, but the one above I’ve been using for well over a year
Do you think the wood helps reinforce the conduit, preventing some droop?
Hi, what type of foam was the low bounce please?? Firm? Memory foam?
It was a memory foam type. However, I switched to the new C-Series Carls screen that was just released and the bounce back was improved so much that I no longer need the topper anymore! Check out my latest video.
Noticed the Amazon link for the California King topper isn’t a 1.5” but a 2”. Is that the same topper brand you found to have the better bounce-back?
I switched to the new Carl's C-Series design that uses a cable on the bottom and it actually doesn't require a pad behind the screen anymore as the bounce back is significantly better! If you need one though, the one I linked is correct.
for reference sake, what is the size of the room depicted in this video?
Nice video, I still work around this idea of foam with the impact screen, please can you put me in right direction, which are the difference for the 2 Foam, how I found the low kick back one? thanks
Links to both in the description.

Still going strong!
Im looking at putting a simulator in my garage with a net that i can putup and take down as needed since I do park my car in my garage, I'm curious if a memory foam matress topper would work for protecting the back wall which I would be hitting into?
For this application I would highly recommend a Spornia SP7 return net. Easy to setup and take down and no topper would be needed.
I would say get a thick memory foam topper then. At least 3”

Hello, this is attached to the Carls premium DIY screen. It also has a long tube like sandbag that velcros to the bottom.
Any problems with your memory foam shredding?
Still none!
Memory topper link for 1.5" green missing in your description as others have mentioned.
Yikes! Fixed but here it is

No
Agree, no. I’m only running 10” from my wall.
Are you still using this with the new screen?
Sorry, just saw this. I removed it for the new screen as the bounce back is actually greatly improved on the new design!
What is the outlet mount in the upper right hand corner behind the screen?
We had a tv mounted there before it became the sim room. It used to be a game room with a pool table, darts, original Nintendo... all the good stuff. Now it's even better!
@@PixelGolf Thanks
You mension you like the 1.5" pad for less bounce back, but the link above is for the 2" What is the link to the better pad?

How heavy is the topper? Is it light enough for the frame to be able to hold?
It’s got some weight but light enough for the frame to hold.
So sorry for the delay! Yes, all bungees used and the mattress just free hangs.
What’s your distance behind the screen to the wall? I’m at 1’ right now and I’m hoping to add a topper to reduce the distance to 6”.
10”
good work
did you end up keeping the M+ or the BLP?
I will have that video coming shortly as to what I kept and why.
Thanks for the video. Would it be okay to put the foam directly on the wall? How far between the wall and memory foam would you recommend? And also between the foam and the impact screen?
I wouldn’t, it would be more effective free hanging to lessen recoil.
Do you think if the mattress pad was touching you would get even less bounce back? Im hitting very close to my screen and want to minimize bounceback as much as possible. Keep up the good content Thanks

That is a high ball speed, maybe a thicker foam might be the answer.
Can you link the one you bought Matthew?
