I always liked Ben's setup.... Now that i have seen yours I will say.... Wow, I did not think of using a projected line for training aides I was thinking only what Ben has done. Now I'm very keen on it! I'm still in the process of building my sim. When It is operational I will definitely be doing this. I did not know there were 0cheep little projectors like this. Very nice, Thanks.
Hey Joe, OH GREAT, couldn’t afford a bright enough projector for my screen, now I want one for my floor too 😮 - nice use of a second projector, if anyone with a Rapsodo or R10 has seen Ben’s webcam putting using a floor projection this could be the answer folks need to implement that
Absolutely! Bens set up for his is fantastic. I'm going to do a square golf hitting area like he has for his mlm2pro.. there is just so much you can do with it. For a cheap projector these things work great. I'm honestly thinking in the future I'll upgrade to a more powerful brighter one because the functionality is just so good.
Thanks mate! Yeah I am really passionate about this as I really believe it will genuinely help with alignment, training lines and aids... It's fantastic for that stuff. The data is really cool but there are genuine uses for this that will help people improve.. including myself 👍👍
🎉 nice work Joe! Love the way you implemented this! Both sharing a viable projector to buy and a great job explaining important details and your experience of doing it. Great video.
Thanks mate! Yeah it is incredibly functional and you can do a lot with it. The data displayed is cool and a default setting but training aids and I guess visual aids are why I did it. And also having an alignment stick for other side mounted units 🤣
Hey Joe, I watched Ben's video and thought how cool it would be to have but didnt see the need until I watched this video. Your explanation and info was so clear and helpful. Cant wit to to try this and you just gave me a reason to use my projector. I have that same projector(US version).
Love it mate! Yes time to get it mounted and get started it's actually really cool what you can do. The visual aids are fantastic and I can see a lot of use cases where this will help people. Cheers
I hadn’t even considered using something like this for draw/fade practice, or even just alignment markers in general for putting, etc - I may have to do this now. Thanks for sharing and providing so much detail, Joe. I love nerding out about this stuff.
There are so many applications for training aids or swing guides.. this is what made me so excited about actually doing this in the first place. As soon as I saw this I immediately thought about it! Finally got around to doing it and it's even better than I thought and really quite cheap! Cheers
I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, after seeing it somewhere and then finding Ben’s video on it. I have to do it with a chrome cast though.. No more ports available ;) The EML is in the way for me, making it harder to hang the projector off-center, but I’ll figure that out at some point ;)
Great Video, If you were to upgrade to the better projector like you suspect you would want to do. which one would you recomend? and have you found out how many lumens the one you have now has? i feel i would like something a little brighter. Thanks
I purposely avoided watching this video, because I KNEW I'd end up wanting to do it! The alignment/positioning of the launch monitor tipped the scales for me! 😂
GREAT Video as I also watched Ben's video on this - thank you BOTH for all your help and what you guys do to help us!!!! My questions: 1) How is the quality of this projector and could it also (if you buy 2 of them) be used for the main projection of GSPro to the hitting screen, as I am currently using an OLD (20 year+) projector which is OK, but not great? 2) If using the R10, what useful data from that LM would you recommend displaying on the floor, in addition to the alignment lines, which is a GREAT IDEA?
I personally wouldn't use this projector as my main Sim projector.. for me it's great for things like this but not as a main screen. I would be recommending a quality BenQ.. personally I'd wait and save the money. They have just come out with a laser 1080p one that looks great. As for data it's whatever you're working on. So if it's club path I'd be displaying that or if it's speed then display speed. What I will say is for me I try and keep it simple so the floor just have a few metrics that are important to you and make them a bit bigger. If they are too small and congested it can just be a bit too much and you won't really look at them. Thanks for watching!
Thanks mate yes I thought about getting a white laminate to put down there but in the end I decided against it. I think if I want to watch he golf or RUclips on it when I'm playing then I'll put down my whiteboard or something just to give it a bit of clarity! 👍
Unfortunately not mate they don't offer a video replay but you could buy a slow motion camera and mount it on your ceiling and then use an application like kinovea to do it yourself.. bit of a work around and would take time to dial in but you could definitely do it.
Love the idea and the video. Thank you for not glossing over the details of how to set it up. The alignment lines are a great idea for training but I wonder if they would confuse your ProTee VX since it's camera based. I couldn't see the alignment marks in the swing video during your chip shot near the end. Did you turn off the alignment marks for that or did ProTee VX just not pick them up?
Thanks for that Greg and no it hasn't confused the Protee yet and tbh I don't think it will. From memory I don't think it sees the white lines and that's because it's using IR which is a different wavelength. But I will confirm Inna short video or something in the future. But long story short no I haven't seen it confuse the LM yet. You can make the lines different colours as well.
Yep 2.7m and I have clipped the ceiling a few times 🤣 I have actually a year in cut 2 sections out the roof and now don't hit it as often but I still have the occasional clip.
Yeah absolutely you could run this on a second laptop no problem you.would just plug the projector straight into that. It's not a bad idea really if you have a spare laptop sitting there as then your system won't get bogged down with OBS. A bit more of an investment though.
Can you auto switch between scenes/scene layers, say webcam putting and hitting area automatically when you either select putting or if your ball is on the green? I want the webcam putting layer to project and then go back to the hitting area when putting is done without toggling the scenes in OBS. Thanks.
Awesome. Thank you for showing this. Question: What video card are you using? Mine is starting to really get taxed running 4k GSPRO on 4k BenQ projector mirrored to 4k monitor, and ProVX on a TV on 4k, I assume adding another monitor even at 1080p will cause it to glitch. I am currently using a RTX 3080.
how do you separate the windows to the different projectors. Meaning, how do have main projector showing GS pro and floor projector showing the OBS window? also, does the OBS automatically find those windows again next time you boot up, or do you have to make it each time? thanks
No unfortunately not mate... What are you trying to do? Depending on how you layer the thing in the OBS scene you might be able to get something working.. like if you're trying to get the webcam putting working for instance.
@@ryancaton2438Hey Ryan you do it like the video shows so through OBS you would capture a window and then select the foresight software. You need to just use one page from the foresight software so I'm not sure how the foresight displays the data but that might be the issue you're having. If it doesn't display the video and data on one page you will have to choose between what you want to display. Another option if this is the case is to open up another software to capture the swing replay like kinovea
Is there a way you can add a slo mo camera externally? I have the Bushnell launch pro and does not support video replay . I looked into the focus by foresight unfortunately it’s a lil overpriced.
Absolutely mate you could set up Kinovea and then share that screen on OBS the exact same way.. I'll find a video like I made about it... ruclips.net/video/mvlrkSEcqv4/видео.htmlsi=wds_fyHCNm3exMce Here it is mate.. watch that and you will be able to share that on OBS and to your overhead projector
Hey Joe, the projector you linked in Amazon for the USA apparently only has 400 lumens. Does the one you mounted in your Sim have more? I’m kind of surprised that the image looks as good as it does on your floor given how little light the projector pushes out.
The pictures I have taken definitely shows the image as being brighter. It's not as bright in person but bright enough. It's like anything mate if you're in a darker room it will be enough but the more money you spend the image will look better and better. I'm really happy with mine for now but can see myself in the next year or two upgrading to a better short throw projector. I actually can't find the spec of the projector I have but the one I linked in the US is better spec'd than the one I have. I'd be VERY surprised if the one I have is brighter 👍👍
You would have to use a chrome cast plugged into your projector and then cast from your PC using the Chrome browser. Ben from Triple Bogey golf does this and it works great.
Watching Ben's video only a week or so ago, I could really tell he was really into it and had his brain going. Cool to see some people in the golf world be more techy (as a techy that's slowly moving more into the golf world). Have you seen TheHookUp's in-ground 4 button switch that he can use with his golf club so he doesn't have to walk to his computer for every shot? Timestamped to his video to show what I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/YLTVi-KWhFE/видео.htmlsi=gEMBRNfy-WpVISx7&t=929. I think this and the projector display you and Ben have would be the ultimate combo to keep the fluidity of a session.
I honestly do not get the point of this . I want my sim to resemble a real golf course as much as possible . Thats why I could not care less for the fantasy courses either . Thats just me . Just over kill .
I'm all about it for the functionality did you watch the video where I project the lines to work on your swing? I like being able to remove it and create that minimal really course experience and then if I want to work on something having aids and feedback will only help speed up the process.
I’m a data guy so I love to have all the course data right in front of me as I am hitting. I also project alignment lines for practice. And it’s just cool to do.

That is coming directly from the Protee VX launch monitor 👍👍
Ah, it looked like he was using a floor-mount launch monitor in this video, implying he had a ceiling-mount camera. Thanks for the clarification.
If I have 14' ceilings is it still a problem for right/left handed players or would you still recommend moving it forward?
The issue would be people standing and blocking the image you're probably better off having it behind or forward and projecting the image from there 👍
