Today we're taking a look at a pair of headphones from the the most popular headset brand that makes PS5's most coveted 3D Audio headset, the Arctis 7P. This time around we're looking at the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless. We are going to put this heavy duty premium gaming headset through the wringer to see if it stands a chance as a great 3D audio gaming headset that takes advantage of PS5's 3D Audio. Albeit not being designed for 3D audio, we take a chance and see whether it's worth the value.

Bro thank you so much for the thoroughness like holy crap dude you freaking killed it I feel like the title might be hurting your views a little bit I seriously almost pass this up on accident and it’s the best video I’ve watch all day on any device, and I watch alot of reviews on devices i currently own to see if it’s worth leveling up or not. This was great stuff.
You forgot to say that the Phone Jack from the Headphones works both as an audio in and Audio out, so if you are watching a movie or playing couch co-op you can just use a chord from the Headphone to another set and get amazing sound too.
It's just something that we use while watching movies in DTSX. Works amazingly good!
I was looking for a vid that explained the difference between the 7 and the Pro and almost overlooked your video. Update the title of your video. I guarantee you’ll get more views. I’ve decided to purchase the Arctic Pro instead of the 7p. Awesome video man. Thanks!
This comment right here actually got my attention and I’ll be watching this video now. Under-rated comment. Getting my 7p replaced with warranty and there are no comparison videos out there, as I’m considering upgrading.
The pro wireless is wayyyyyy better than the 7p. You will be glad you went with the pros
Love your reviews man !
Appreciate it! 🙏🏽
I recently bought my own Arctis Pro Wireless (couldn't be happier), and I gotta say you absolutely nailed this review; pretty much everything you said is a 1:1 reflection of my experience. There is one question I was hoping you could answer though: do you know if the battery pack can be overcharged? I've only had to switch it out once so far, so out of fear of melting a brand new battery I popped my reserve battery out of the control station once fully charged and kept it in the box for safekeeping. It would be really unfortunate if it is the case that it can overheat because then all it takes is a handful of times leaving it to charge overnight (after a long and exhausting gaming session) until it will start getting damaged.
Edit: In my personal experience, I find that the headset fits almost too tightly in the box (basically zero wiggle space). This is of course generally a good thing, but I noticed that sometimes the power button gets pushed on when inside the case (long enough to turn on the headset). It would be a shame if someone does this accidentally and returns to an empty battery. I would recommend toggling the mic mute button to ON before you store your headset so that in case this happens you will notice right away because the mic's red light (indicating that it is muted) will glow =).
Been using these for about a year now, It's definitely my favorite wireless headset. I wasn't expecting such good sound quality from a wireless gaming headset, but the Pro wireless are definitely my favorite. I'm hoping they release an updated version with USB C later on, But not really an issue with the swappable batteries.
These are still the best headsets I’ve ever tried and owned. And the fact that they had the update for the ps5 made them even better. I haven’t tried the 7p but these on the performance profile give me perfect directional cues in a full sphere since the update lets them access the 3D sound from the ps5. Also you can use them with usb only on the ps5, you can balance the chat through the console and/or everyone’s voice level in the party chat itself if you’re in a party. They’re $300-$330 on Amazon btw. And the things that completes them are Wicked Cushions (however they’re written) leather ear cuffs. It seals the sound way better than the mesh cushions they come with.
These are better imo, because it has bluethooth while the 7p doesnt unfortanetly
Thinking about getting these 🔥🔥
Had them for 2 years. One day I put them on and the left ear just snapped clean off, which is apparently a known and common issue, so now I have to rig them just for them to stay on. Dope headset with great audio and loud but flawed and cheaply made
Got this exact one. The thing which surprised me the most is the fact that i never have to charge the thing with the dual batteries.
You nailed this review perfectly. On top of the already solid features, (good build quality, a decent mic, good wireless performance, etc.) the main two options that made the steep asking price worth it for me are:
1. I only needed to go into system settings and set output default to "Arctic Pro Wireless Game" once and the base station automatically switches to the headphones when I turn them on and automatically back to my desktop speakers when I turn them off.
2. The fast swappable batteries.
I love it.
Good job. One question, are these headsets compatible with 3D audio?
Got these one year ago, and it was an excellent choice for me because I’m a person who uses the PS5 (via USB) and Discord on PC (via Bluetooth) at the same time.
As this guy said, it’s almost half the price of a gaming console! So think about whether you REALLY want to get those or not! If you’re just an average gamer, get the lower end ones, they’re just as good 🤷🏻♂️.
+It’s rumored that Discord will be added to Playstation next year so my whole use case would simply be resolved 🤷🏻♂️. But again it’s just a rumor and we don’t know if Discord will be as good as the PC version.
+The battery swapping thing was a “nice to have” until I actually used it and turned out to be a VERY good idea! And damn I really can’t see myself plugging a cable into my headset ever again!
+They recently had a firmware update to officially support the PS5.
Thanks for the in depth comment!
Which cheaper headset would u recommend who have chat/game option? No matter wired or wireless
I think im going for this headset. I was initially going to get the TB Stealth 700 Gen 2 because of the ability of being able to connect to your bluetooth and game audio at the same time its a big deal for me since I sometimes do play by myself and sometimes in the grind sessions you gotta have something else to listen to so, its a steep price but that feature alone makes it 100 times better than the 7P. However because of the price I am still considering the Stealth 700s
It’s only 120 rn
@@goodgrass864 The Pro is or the 7P?
@@gray_vz4535 the stealth 700s and they have fixed all the issues with ps5
I had the stealth 700 Gen 1. It’s not great. Really mediocre build quality (all plastic) and it took maybe a year and half for the battery to become useless
I got my pro wireless 3yrs ago and man they still work like a champ! When I play PUBG I can hear enemies footsteps further away then those of my friends who have turtle beaches. also music fidelity especially with tidal or other apps that have HIFI sounds amazing. yeah they're pricy but for the multi function for devices out beats other headsets and again infinite charge.
I play a lot of pubg and just bought these. Did you switch to DTS like he said for directional footsteps?
@@shaunnicholls2770 honestly I didn't even need it on, I was already hearing the directional footsteps unless the game automatically switched it to DTS.
I have a pair too. Most things I love are the swappable batteries and the EQ. I love turning the bass all the way up whenever I listen to music or play single player games. Then I can easily switch to another eq setting and turn on 3D audio whenever I play an FPS game.
I love the fact the base can adjust the eq cause I’m having a horrible time adjusting eq on my 7p with ps5 being my max is to old for the app to be compatible and I don’t have a windows computer period 🥲🥲I wish we could adjust eq on our ps5 ops. That would be legit the best for most people. In my opinion.
The sony 3d Audio headset is the only one you can ajust it's eq on the ps5 itself. Sadly.
But I only did the eq on my pc ones and I am happy as fuck with using it on my ps5 now!
@@GamerDan89 lol I’ve been through probably 12-15 headsets since I made this comment! Ended up going with the audeze penrose. Have eq settings on my RUclips shorts channel if u need any.
@@GamerDan89 For Arctis 7p? If so can you please share your EQ settings? Thanks in advance!
I have the app installed on my mac
Tell me please, is it still worth buying pro wireless instead of p7 + for ps5, if there is such an opportunity? Does the bass sound better on the pro version? Or should you not bother and the sound quality is not much different?
I also noticed that in 7p + in some games it seems that there is not enough maximum volume.
GUYS help me, why when i switch to "PS5" in the box and i select output device "HDMI AV" because i am with optical cable adapter on PS5 the sound disappears but with "PS4" selection it works? THANKS
Awesome headset. I just don’t have any reason to upgrade from the 7P 🤷 might have to get my hands on the new scuff controller though!
Yeah those scuff controllers look nice! Price not so much though 😅
In my opinion.
glad u said this cause i’m tryna decided between the pro and the 7p im just gonna get the 7p cause it’s cheaper
Lol 7P
@piscoleated Please can you do a EQ settings video for the 7P+. I play mostly RPGs but also some shooters. It's different from the original 7P options. Immersion and performance is not there
Also I have an issue with the engine software...I can edit EQ settings...However the red banner saying critical software update required, when I click on that it won't continue with the update even though it's connected. If anyone knows a fix please
Thanks
Why not just hook up the base station straight to your tv through the optical audio port??? That’s what I do with my Schiit HeL 2 👍🏿
Forgot to mention that the volume wheel can be used to navigate the game dac menu.
Got a p5 last year and my artist pro+dac broke outta warranty. I was just looking at this headset thanks
Does the game chat mix work with the ps5?
Hey I got an Arctis 7+ and was trying to find a way to link the live monitoring from my yeti to the headset. It would be great if you could find a way to do that and post it. Think it would help a lot of people including me!
Is there any difference between this one and the wired one??
Damn. Ehm the volume wheel is a button too 🙈 you can press it en use it to go through the base station settings
Is the Arctis 7p better in 3D audio or do they the same job. Sorry i did not understand it because I am from Germany. I like your reviews and looking forward to buy a headset from steelseries.
I bought 7P+ few days ago. Only tested them in Warzone so far and i can tell you that its an awesome headset for sound effects and overall sound direction. You don't really need Pro's.
@@stavric.aleksandar HOWWW?? What eq setting are you using? I also have 7p+ and they dont do much of a job on ps5 warzone..
@@mihaimodan8457 U have a lot of tweaking to do. I changed Warzone in game audio settings, PS5 sound profile(s) and EQ settings. I tested & tried like 5 or 6 of them..
I can give you all of my settings but as far as i am aware they are not working for all of us 🤔
@@stavric.aleksandar yes, please do. I can also share mine. After a week or so, I've found out that the footsteps freq are between 100 and 250 kHz. Also boost profile in-game and 3d audio on (upper profiles for me) . I have yet to try the dolby instead of linear
@@mihaimodan8457 Will do later today or tomorrow brotha.
Apparently the sound it’s as loud as Razer for example, is this true?
Sorry for all the comments trying to get your comments up to help that good ole RUclips a.g. Feed you some more views.
looking for a ss headset, they all look the same, except the price ofc. do you rly need a DAC?
Hey there’s a way of having a better EQ doing in manual not in the computer because my mac doesn’t have usb
Maybe throwing on the windscreen might help with the harsh pronunciation of certain consonants? Don’t blame you though, almost threw mine away 💀
loool nice
I play warezone on ps5
I cant hear footsteps with this headset
i dont find the right eq settings
Is there any chance you’ll be doing a audio setup video for the 7P + for fps games?
He did a eq setting video already and he talks about settings for fps games ruclips.net/video/r2Zva4jbEKY/видео.html
@@michaelscott6130 Cheers, but this is for the 7P, not the 7P+ and the settings on the accompanying application are different. Thanks anyway
@@ians871 yeah my bad just re read your comment didn’t notice the + haha
I bought it and i’m disappointed with the bluetooth because there is no way to add EQ on it. For music listening it sounds too flat.
My friend. I have thr 7p, 7p+, The Arctis pro wireless and the Arctis Pro with Dac. And I have to tell you, the pro series blow the 7p and 7p+ away. Not that the 7p series are bad. Of course both 7ps are the same headsets. But pros are top notch.
Pros are definitely a great headset. Would've loved to keep them if I didn't already own the 7p haha
Do you recommend the pros over the 7p+? Many pepole says that the pros are not good to the PS5? I think that the new update from steelseries to the pro should solve all problems people talking about..
@@marcusbengtsson295 I would definitely go with the Arctis Pro Wireless if they are in your budget. First, yes, the update is great. Second, you can adjust the equalizer options to your liking straight from the box. You don't have to go on computer to configure the equalizer like you do on the 7P and 7P+. Plus you have Bluetooth on the Arctis Pro Wireless. It just offers so many options than the 7P. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy the 7P series. Bit the Arctis Pro Wireless is definitely my choice.
Yeah, I have all four of them. Arctis Pro + GameDAC > Arctis Pro Wireless (the buzzing annoys me, you all know what I mean if you have heard them next to Pro + DAC) > Arctis 7P+ > Arctis 7P.
@@jedijarrod I've never encountered that buzzing noise.
What is the song/beat @ 12:59 ?? Thanks!
And here I am at 4am after doing research and buying it
Haha that's how it's usually done! enjoy your new purchase
@@picsoleated Thanks I love it so far. Can't wait for my Huntsman V2 to arrive aswell tomorrow
I have ps5 with steelseries 7p but they not to loud and keep disconnecting
With what did you connect? Optical audio or hdmi
You can connect it directly via usb. HDMI and optical are the same as you would need an HDMI splitter to connect via optical
@@picsoleated I was meant to say usb or optical lol. Looks like hdmi goes bit louder but optical more quality..
Dosnt this headset require an optic cable?
Covered this in the video. It doesn't require an optical cable you can connect directly via USB, but if you want to connect to your PC and console and switch between the two without moving any cables around, you'll have to connect via optical
What PC case is that? Looks nice!
NR200P it's an sff case
@@picsoleated awesome, new year means new case for my setup! Thanks for the reply.
I bought steel series Arctics pros last week and returned them yesterday. I couldn’t tell where footsteps were coming from while playing fps games. My brother has the same headset and listened on his and it sounded great..I could hear exactly where enemies were. I can’t figure out if I just got a buggy pair or if it’s my computer :(
The pros come with a flat audio signature. You just need to shape the audio to a V format (the most common one for heavier base and low mids). There are a few tutorials about external audio configuration proper for different games. I'd give a try at you brother settings.
You clearly don't know how to properly set up your audio settings lollll
@@bruno.myrrha she's a chick. She won't do any of that. Useless headphones in the hands of a girl who spells her name as...A-L-Y-S-H-A
@@georgek8182 I don't either 🤣
@@georgek8182 lol way to be misogynistic, do something better with your life than hating on random women just because they arent as nerdy as u
How do you use this headset without a optical port in the ps5???????
USB
plug it in via USB, or get an hdmi audio splitter if you really WANt to use the optical cable
@@picsoleated yea without the optical port it sounds horrible!
Bought this one to game on a ps5 trough usb and use bluetooth to discord. Tbh, mine sounds s..…. And i don’t know why. Connected to phone or pc is great audio but playing warzone on ps5 the sound is super flat…
Is it fixed already by now?
So which one is better? Pulse or Arctic?
Definitely Arctis.
What audio setting did you use for the box ? I just got my headsets in and the audio sounds a little bad
You have to plug them into a computer and fine tune the sound. After adjusting the settings and setting the EQ the way I like it the headphones sound amazing.
does anyone experience any white noise with their headset? i recently just got the arctic pro wireless, and as soon as i turned it on i keep hearing this constant white noise. when i’m playing a game it drowns it out, but when i’m watching a youtube video or not playing anything it’s very obvious and it’s always there. other than that, i’m very happy with it. just hope there wasn’t any white noise.
your sidetones are probably turned up. either mute your mic or reduce the sidetones to really low or 0. If that doesn't work it might be a defect
got mine today and static white noise. gonna return to BestBuy. lots of complaints on Reddit, apparently it's wide spread
Does it work for ps4
Little behind the curve but i finally bought these and use them with my goxlr. I was waiting for a new version but couldn't wait any longer, great... But, listening to your XLR mic through goxlr with Arctis Pro with the latency is super annoying.. ugh.. so stupid, and for over $300 you would think it would be much better...
I'm not sure what you're referring to. I don't own a goxlr and there's no latency with the arctis pro wireless mic
@@picsoleated well, let me be a little more detailed, when I plug in my goxlr directly into the hub of the wireless headphones, then go to listen to my XLR mic as I talk the delay from my voice to my ears is delayed just slightly enough that it's obvious hard to listen to the mic. The short term fix I did was uncheck the listen to mic box on the goxlr turn the mic on via the headset and I can hear myself talk with no delay. Just was going the latency to hear your mic wasn't an issue
They should have named these the Astro killers. People were talking like the 7 p original could compete with the astros I mean if that’s the case. What the hell do these do to the astros 😂😂.
When I play Warzone my 3D pulse blows the Astro A50 out the water im disappointed in the Astros. Im looking into getting Steelseries but I def want the 3D audio so might just go for 7p or 7p+ idk about the pro
If you didn’t care about the microphone quality and you had the extra cash, would you invest in the Pros?
Probably yeah. I'm the type to always want the best thing, since performance is identical the features are something that appeal to me (battery, Bluetooth etc)
@@picsoleated FYI, performance is not identical. 7P and 7P+ are 20-20000 Hz. Pro are 10-40,000 Hz.
Price is high for these being that they're 3 years old
Age doesn't dictate price. Maybe sometimes but a lot of quality headphones hold their value. Especially if there are still aren't other products in the market that offer a similar feature set
IDK to copp in white or black.
whichever colour you like best? haha
It says it works also with xbox, yes but not 100%, footsteps in games from enemy u can not heard it, so nop n that is a downside there, other then that sound amazing
Low volume is fixed its uploaded in my channel
Dam idk what to do buy the 7P+ or the pro 😳
what have you went for? having the same 'issue' :D
@@dirtypaws17 Well man I got the Sony 3D Pulse to try them out and they are really really good. Next ima upgrade to the new Artic 7P+. I think you should buy the 7P+ man they are really good my friend got those
how is the 3d sound on the ps5 and the headset?
5:29 however……. You can’t have surround with linear pcm and same with 3d audio. You are wrong here. That’s literally what linear means, it’s 2d only.
Also, your dac is connected with just hdmi, you are seriously missing out on the headsets use. You need the tendak hdmi extractor and connect the dac and ps5 that way, sounds 10x better. You aren’t getting the best experience with it how you have it set up, same with the mic.
😎👍🏼
NO USB C????
so.. why cant you believe you said that?
Honestly the headset is really uncomfortable
Worst headphones ever. 💯 the price does not justify the sound quality. 🤷♂️
I wouldn't go that far. They're not bad headphones at all, the price is just more indicative of the feature set
Don't be a hater... If your #1 priority in a headset is sound quality, you shouldn't even be looking at gaming headsets in the first place. You can just buy entry-level headphones purposed towards music listening/production for $150-200 and have more than enough left over for a high-quality standing table mic. Both of these combined would blow any gaming headset sound and mic quality out of the water, but then you have 2 separate devices and little to none of the features that come with a headset like the Arctis Pro.
@@PoonDestruction agreed, my mistake 😄 but i was so hyped up with all the reviews. I got baited 😂
@@Charles-wg3pl Have you tried the Astro A50? I've not tried these so I can't compare but I honestly love the A50s and have used them for years.
Gaming headsets are all grossly overpriced. You could get headphones that sound just as good or better for half the price and just use a separate mic.
I have astro a 30s And I'm very disappointed for price. They are dog shit mic Quality is horrible and have a ton of issues watching this video so I can see if the arctics are worth my money. Because everyone said astros good, but they're not.
