    the way I perfected the freestyle back in the day is this: think of your torso as a floating log, rolling left-to-right then right-to-left. Just like a log, both ends move very little vertically. At the end of one of the rolls, your head creates a wake that you can take a breath from. Trust me, makes a huge difference.

      I've been training for many years now and my coach told me to let my body "float on the surface". You have to keep your body in the water and ur face as well. It's like looking at the ground while you're going as fast as possible by activating your legs and arms as well. It depends but for me I breathe during the 3rd stroke and u have to think of it as if you're looking at your shoulder when breathing. Looking at your shoulder is what literally helped me the most :)

      I’ve been swimming outdoors all year. Swimming four days a week every week. It’s been a bit silly during the winter though since the amount of neoprene I’m wearing makes a mockery of the “don’t try to swim above the water” advice. It’s still fun to swim in ice water, though again, the neoprene destroys your form.

    When I was doing first aid and swimming rescue, one of the techniques we had to learn was to swim crawl style with our head always above the water (so we wouldn’t lose sight of the victim). It was really hard to do even 50m like that, I always ended up too tired (so how are you going to rescue someone if you are so out of breath? Idk...).
    What do you think? Is it really helpful to swim like this when someone is drowning?

    • @SkillsNT
      @SkillsNT  3 года назад +2

      Well if the goal is to save someone's life I think it is worth the extra effort to make sure you don't lose them, so it makes sense to me. However you should also be in a good physical shape and know how to add efficiency in other ways to make sure you don't get to the person and aren't able to help.

  • @Dawson2011H
    @Dawson2011H 2 года назад +2

    From my learning experience, the technique and swimming speed are linked together. 1 breath half way in the water: you can’t do that unless your speed has reach a certain level. Otherwise, you drink water. 2 efficient of high elbow catch: you need to have certain strength to see the full benefit of doing it. 3 when you are tired, your legs start to sink and everything falling apart because your speed starts to slow significantly. I have average speed of 2’24” per 100 meter for 1000 meters none stop. I am sure most of the people watching this video is way faster than me.

  • @rodrozil6544
    @rodrozil6544 3 года назад +4

    Breathing technique is very important in competitive swimming. How do pros breathe efficiently? My challenge is, how not drink dirty water or say salt water when breathing with mouth while swimming. Moreover my nose is partially blocked at right nostril, and so impossible to breathe only using nose without running out air. Give some advice, sir.

    • @SkillsNT
      @SkillsNT  3 года назад +4

      In swimming, you basically breathe through your mouth. It's very challenging not to drink water when there are a lot of waves but it's just s matter of practicing and controlling your mouth and head position. Also the speed of the breath is really important. It should take only like half a second to inhale. Using fins and kicking on your side should help you practice. Like I said, we will do a whole video about breathing in the future. I hope that helps!

      I started swimming again in the summer and I had a hard time breathing in freestyle so I kept practicing and i realized wat I was doing wrong. When I was breathing I was dropping my arm, so that wasn’t really putting my head in a good position, so I tried breathing while my arm was close to my ear, so my head was on top of the water better without having to lift it up in order to breathe. Lol idk if that was the answer u were looking for but I tried LOLL

    I have noticed something swimming front crawl at different speeds to do with the wake you create. I was doing 1km sets building to 500m and tapering for the last 500m. At a certain speed the wake you create changes the sound you hear to a higher pitch fizzing maybe due to more air created by the water clearing. I am not sure if I have matched the speed of the wake ,overtaken it or lifted up a little in the water but it became a great indicator of my speed at a certain point. Try and see if you can hear a difference at different speeds.

    Or it will be same as v-cut?

    • @SkillsNT
      @SkillsNT  3 года назад +3

      It depends on the fabric. The expensive suits are made to reduce drag and to be very tight around your legs, but those are just for competitions. But it is very little difference, like very very little. If it's not the expensive kind then I don't think it makes much of a difference as long as the suit is tight and not floppy.

    You only swim with head high out of water if you play water polo, otherwise it is time to count the tiles in pool :D

      ..We are all born with sin, and the punishment of sin is death, but because of how much GOD loved us, HE sent HIS SOON JESUS CHRIST to live the perfect sinless life so HE could become the sacrifice for our sins to die for US, and to take all of out sins and to finally cleanse us of that burden setting us free from hell, eternal suffering. All you have to do to accept this free gift is to accept JESUS CHRSIT as your LORD AND SAVIOR, and to repent (turn away from your sins) and to turn to GOD. GOD loves you, and someday I pray you realize that :slight_smile: GOD BLESS
