This is new. I didn't know they have pan sets as well. Nice.
+Teoh Yi Chie Yes, pretty new. I'm a little more limited in my experience with pan sets vs tubes but I was very impressed with them.
hi Teoh! love your sketches,, so cool to see you here as a Minder :)
Love your review! :) Can't wait to see more videos!
+MyPetiteCakes Hey thanks!
I purchased the 36 tube set with pallet, from amazon a few months ago at an amazing price. I just love them! I find myself reaching for them over my W&N's now. Thanks for the reviews. Love your videos.
+Rhonda Jewell 👍
Me too!
I pulled the trigger and ordered the 36 set and it comes with a pallet so I'm looking forward to that. I looked around their site and found a set called pure pigments all the paints are a single pigment and they have a mixing chart to create another 26 colours so it turns into a 56 colour set
how cool is that!
hope your having a great week Steve!
+Blissfulthings Yes, I saw the pure pigments set and I think thats the best idea they've had. Its really nice paint. I spent the weekend (my birthday) in Charleston, SC watercolor sketching with the the Mission pan set. (video to come) The intensity of the colors kept surprising me. I was constantly having to tint back the washes.
+The Mind of Watercolor I'll be looking forward to seeing your video with these! I'm impressed with the company so far
and I will put the paint through their paces
I just wish I had a way to film my work to share
saving up for a tablet and a new phone so I can in the future. .my favorite painting style that works for me is impression / abstract and I'm sure these new paints will do a great job because of the high pigment load :)
I bought the set and i love it but my prussian blue is defective and i told them so they will send me a new one 🙂. I mean its mudy and doesnt color. I love your reviews
When I first started watching this channel I never thought I would try watercolor... now I have a set of watercolor and I am trying to learn this medium. It is such a beautiful medium that it feels like cheating because even when I make a mistake I can admire it!
+Alex Pigeon that's often true. I like to see what I can do with unexpected accidents.
They look so vivid and lovely to handle. They remind me of my White nights but perhaps even more vivid and transparent. That palette doesn't seem to have much mixing space though.
Don't forget they are also "... matured in traditional Korean pots while classical music plays..."
You have convinced me. Mine are on their way!!
+kaateeart 😄
I love mission gold so much. Very nice watercolors!!!
I've been eyeballing the 34 color (15ml tubes) set for awhile, which is priced around $95 (ship incl. to US)...Your channel is the only one I've found that shows this pan set, so thank you for this! I followed your link and it is selling at around $115 for this 24 color (2 ml pans) set with incl. box. I just want to suggest to all those considering this set of watercolors that you can purchase a large, generic travel box with half or full pans for $20-30 on Amazon, so the 34 set of 15ml tubes is very much the way to go. Thanks for the video and the info, always a joy to watch your stuff!
Pans or tubes they are great paints!
Please do a review on mijello student grade paints! Silver class!
Ooooo- these look so interesting! I may be adding another set of watercolors to my collection! Pretty impressive. 😊
+Denise Chapel 😃👍
They look very vibrant, I use the Holbein watercolor tubes and I made a permanent palette with the Mijello palette the silver one, I really like their palette and those watercolor looks really promising and the package is really nice, love the golden color
Excellent review - as always! Just purchased one of these sets as a gift for my very talented partner. The set contains 24 pans; I can’t find anyone who sells the Mijello pans separately (to make up the whole set of 36 Mijello Mission Gold colours)? Anyone bought the pans singly?
Ok, I did some "oooohhing and ahhhhing" when I saw you slide the palette out lol. Hubby is going to roll his eyes at me if I want these..just bought some Winsor Newton half pans. He is going to forbid me to watch your videos for awhile, LOL. Thanks for the review..they look wonderful!!
+Pamela Goodman LOL! oh well. There will always be something new right?
+The Mind of Watercolor Yes, and I enjoy it all, lol.
Your are adorable. You literally always make me. Laugh out loud.
Thanks!! Blessed by your artwork and instruction! And...thanks for the scripture verses that you share!
+John Klein You bet! Thanks for watching
Just got home from class and I'm treated to a video from The Mind of Watercolor (& Reece!) I've been curious about this brands paints, excited to watch this review. :)
+Shaades of Shaay 👍
You just pushed me off of the fence with this review. I'm ordering off your link.
They look like great paints, nice clear, clean colours.
+Sarah Nunns Indeed they are!
Thanks to you and Reese for that review! The pans looked liked "puddles of water" with vibrant color in each.
+Karla Hull 👍
I ordered the 36 pan Mijello watercolors and received them a few days ago. I LOVE THE COLORS and the way they flow onto watercolor paper. Thanks again for your informative video!
Thank you for the review as it helped me make the decision. Instead f ordering this one though, I ordered the 34 set (15ml) @$87 and same case at $28 along with 36 half pans from Amazon for the same price. Coming in tomorrow!
+Janice M Cool!
I use an assortment of artist grade watercolor tube paints and I like them. The colors of these look great and I might pick up a set in the future since I was thinking of trying pan paints in an artist grade. Nice seeing Reese, he made my day lol. Thanks for another top notch video.
+Rose Ryan 👍😃
Very nice indeed, very similar to my set of watercolors I use from "Kuretake" Gansi Tambi out of Japan. You should try these also, they are exceptional colors and when used wet on wet the colors stay vivid even after drying. Find them on Amazon (but shipped from Japan so don't expect them overnight) very reasonably priced at $38.56 for 36 extra large half pans. Enjoy!
+Debbie Foley 👍
Hi Steve- these seem to be very nice - thanks for the demo. I am slowly accumulating my M. Graham collection which I love, but this looks like a great alternative to buying more tubes of paints before working with a variety of colors that can be mixed. Please keep us posted on how you like them in your paintings. Thank you again for your time and dedication!
+Kay Gentry Will do. M. Graham is still tops in my book.
What stunning paints!
Thank you. I have these and they are beautiful vibrant colors
+Teri Williams 👍
Thanks for making this great review! I was actually considering getting their 36 tube watercolor set having positive reviews on it. I was set on getting a Hoblein's tube set because I've seen so many illustrators use this as well as Dr. Martin's concentrated colors. Honestly I'm going to own all these brands but I guess it's worth trying Mission Gold first since I'll get three times as many paints to work with.
+Marlisa Monther Mission Gold does seem to be a good value. One word about Dr. Martin's Radiant Concentrated colors. They are dye based and not light fast. Popular for illustrators who scan and reproduce their work but not good for fine art that might go on display. Dr. Martin's Hydrus is a better choice for fine art since it is pigment based.
@@mindofwatercolor so is it good to have dr Martins for scanning?
Beautiful set! Love the case! I would buy it just for the packaging! Lol thanks for sharing, love these types of videos!
+lisamr40 Yes, it was quite a nice treat opening this package!
Great review :) Also would love to see you do a cheap watercolour challenge.
A while back you did a video on plein air and making your own tripod system. Well, I managed to get 26 half pans into a small Altoids tin. 14 on the bottom stuck down with double stick tape. Then I cut an old credit card to size and stuck 12 more on, leaving room for my fingers to remove it and fit it into the open Altoid cover. Voila! 26 colors in my shirt pocket!
Barry
+Barry Schreiber Nice, sounds cool!
I have the tube set of 36 in the double U palette (the $67 one on Amazon) I had to get a second set because I love the palette itself and I was running low on quite a few colors. I really like these paints!!!! I'm a Daniel smith junkie and really do like these paints a lot! The weirdest thing I found about the set that I have is the "Bright Rose" (opera pink color) glows under black light!! My pest control guy and I were scorpion hunting my property and I paint outside and when I ran the black light over my painting set up that Bright Rose just light up like a candy kid at a rave! It is fugitive but the glowing aspect was rather intriguing thinking what the heck is making it glow!!! Great review! Glad you like them as well.
+Erin S. How do the tube versions dry in the palette? Do the they re-wet super fast like the pans?
+The Mind of Watercolor the tube paints dry perfectly! There is one red that dried cracked but only one out of the set did that and I dropped my pallet and not one color popped out or came out of the well. They can rewet with a damp brush and can compare them with Daniel smith on rewetting. Amazing paint really, I am doing my own lightfast test because I don't trust any company's lightfast rating. That is something k have to test for myself. One thing I don't like is mixing the ultramarine and burnt sienna (not sure if the paints are named that but the hues are what I would call them); don't mix to a nice grey, the mix to a muddy green. But other than that so far so great!
+Erin S. Thanks!
Again love love love the paint but not the pan
I like seeing you review products - new ones, etc. - thanks. I am learning this is an expensive (to me) experiment - but I know I just need to buy a bit at a time..trying to buy higher end stuff if I can - as that was your advice. I enjoy it so much - I hope one day I can create something that can actually be framed and put on a wall! ha!
+Angie Wilson 👍Oh, I'm sure that you will. Happy painting!
I bought the 36 color tube set that comes with the palette. I read that the tube paints are made WITHOUT any type of thickening agent. Is this also true of the pan sets? By the way Amazon is selling them for only $67 which includes the palette!! The regular list price is $279.99
+saltlakerenee Yes, I believe that is true of the pans as well. In reality, that is true of most high quality artist's grade paints. Thickeners are usually used as a filler when less pigment is used, like in student grade paints.
+saltlakerenee , Thanks for the tip on the low Amazon price. That makes them less expensive than the Grumbacher Academy student grade paints I had purchased when starting to paint a few months ago. At this price, I just grabbed a set of these Mission Golds with the palette.
+Donald Mosser Amazon has 12, 24 and 36 color allow prices right now. I was just there. All tubes.
+Teri Williams , Yes, I bought the 36 color tube set at the $67 price because that seemed like the best deal. Today, the 24 color tubes set is listed at $52, the 12 color set is $58 (maybe the price changed since yesterday), and the 9 color set is $33.
Yes when I bought mine the day b4 the 36 set was 67 but was at regular 167.00 on my shopping day so I got the 24. I wish it had more links and purples, only one each but ill make do. Plus I'd like to get some iridescent or genuine e from DS as I'm learning to paint t birds. I hope.
Thank you for this review! I share the same sentiment about Mijello. It's quite impressive!
👍
Wonderful review! I want some of these paints!
+Createful Art Channel 👍
Hi Steve, I just got off the phone with a man from Mission Gold via the US distributor, Martin Weber. The samples I ordered on 5/1/16 never arrived. Michael Gorack, in C.S., told me about a new "Pure," pigment set that they are releasing. It contains 24 pure pigment 15 ml. tubes and 2, 7ml. tubes of black and white. I asked that they send a sample to you and Marty Owings for review.
The pure pigment price is like buying gold but I believe it will be considerably discounted on some web sites upon release. Retail price is well over $300. I hope they do send you some for review. I can't wait to hear what you think of them.
Also, He told me that the 24 pan set you are reviewing here, is an extraction pan set, and that they fill several times and use 2+ tubes of paint? Aren't these pans about 7ml? I thought that might be of interest to you as well. thanks for the attention to detail in all your demos. I appreciate your service to us all.
Thanks Judith, I appreciate that. I did read about the "Pure" set a little while ago. Sounds pretty neat.
Woah 2 tubes in a pan? That's sounds like a lot...
Just rewatching watercolor videos here XD 2019
thanks for the review. and thanks especially for using quality testing materials (we all know that arches paper is not cheap). it really helps us make informed decisions. :)
+john doe My pleasure and thanks for noticing the materials.
The one thing i hate about this is the pans. I think the paints look great but the pans are just annoying in my opinion. The pans only work for the mijello sets, but with traditional half/full pans they can be arranged and put into other palettes easily, as pans are pretty universal across brands. Thats my honest to god stupid nit pick about these, but i think its just a tad less convenient then other brands. (But i have to admit the palette these pans come in are very pretty)
I thought about that but not a drawback in my opinion because I rarely by replacement pans. I just refill them. I kind of like the size. Its between a half and a full pan.
Scrolled through a bunch of question but not all and apologies if I missed this in your review Steve, can you buy individual cakes if you run out of just one color? I have > 90% of their tube lineup, I alternate between M. Graham and Mission Gold as my favorites...
Yes, at the Mission Gold site at least. Not sure who else carries them. www.mijello.com/en/product/water/pan.php
Woo hoo thanks for the new vid. Can't wait to get home and watch it. Was starting to have withdrawal symptoms. :)
+James Darrell 😃👍
It looks like a great set! I would love to try it out.
+Georgia Nicolaou 👍
Just ordered the Mijello Studio palette.
*waving hello to you Steve, and Reese*, thank you Steve...great review :)
+Rhonda Magee 👍
Curious which do enjoy using the most this pan set or the pute pigment set?
Like them both about the same. The pan set is a nice compact size.
Great review and I like what I see... I'd be interested in seeing their tube colours as well. Hopefully Canadian art supply stores will stock them... I've not had very good luck with our Canadian art supply stores when it comes to good brushes and ordering from the US is just too expensive right now.
+Mark Wilson 👍
Love the tube paint but not the pand.somevdidntcrewetcwell and the pans don't fit in other palettes.i prefer metal palette s
Thanks for the great review, you are the one I trust on all your reviews. Jean milhollin
+James Milhollin Very kind, thanks!
Please do a review on the Kuretake Gansai Tambi traditional Japanese watercolor :D
Devika Draws they are most suitable for sumi-e. are very heavy colors. they don't run on papper like regular watercolors made wirt arabic gum.
thank you,.you've been very helpful
+Lee Jennings 👍
You'd have to wait till they're completely dry before you close it because they'll bleed into each other. Or do you have to do that with any water color pallet? I know nothing about water colors I just like watching the videos.
+Zoey Berrier Yes, you have to do that with any portable palette. If my pans are runny wet I just shake out the water and/or blot them before I close it.
I always love your videos!
+Jennifer S 👍
They look really vibrant, but the yellows seem to be a bit similar right?Maybe live they are a bit more different.
+MissNausicaa87 Yes, the limitations of video, but the first two are very similar (lemon yellow and permanent yellow light). The lemon yellow is slightly lighter and cooler. I also noticed the yellow ochre and green gold were nearly identical with only a very slight shift towards green in the green gold.
What the main upside of having single-pigment paints? Less drift in hue as it ages in light, or fewer surprises when mixing, or something else?
+Deipatrous Yes, predictability in use and multi-color mixing mainly. Single pigments are also considered more pure. Less chance of mud. Multi-pigment colors are considered more acceptable in convenience colors where there is less chance of mixing it with lots of other colors.
The Mind of Watercolor
Excellent, thanks!
Hi Steve - Great review. Like these paints.
+Owings Art Thanks Marty. Pretty neat aren't they?
The Mind of Watercolor Yeah, I was a little surprised by these Steve. The vibrancy of the color is pretty darn good. - Marty
what size and type brush would you get to start out. with a limit of 4 or 5 brushes. I'm not asking for brand just style and size.
+Lee Jennings Rounds are usually best to start with. A great all purpose brush and many artists use nothing else. Sizes depends on how big you want to paint. Add an oval wash or flat next. If I could only have 4 brushes it would be a 3/4" oval wash, #12 or #10 round, #8 or #6 round, and a rigger/liner (if you paint landscape)
great will look that up thanks
+Ian Jackson 👍
Muy buenos sus pinturas y sus videos. De que pais son estas acuarelas que presento hoy? y son mejores que las Winsor and Newton?
+Juan Carlos Buhajeruk Produced in Korea. I like them better than Winsor Newton.
Gracias!!!
+Juan Carlos Buhajeruk son mejores de las W&N cottman, pero tal vez igual que las W &N professionales....Son buenas...
+Luas Jing . Gracias
Hello! Can you please comment on the lightfastness of these colors? I mean, not from the information on the box or from the manufacturer, but from your experience. I read a blog post from someone who made a lightfastness test of these in 2013 and she determined that the line had serious problems with that aspect of the paints. I am wondering if the company made any reformulations to correct that. So, can you please comment on this? Thanks!
+Jeannie Pagan I honestly don't know. I haven't light tested them myself. Its possible. My primary paint brand for most of my work is M. Graham. I bought these pans for location journaling so lightfastness is not really an issue in a journal. They do use legit pigment formulations from what I can tell.
+The Mind of Watercolor Thanks!
아 색 이쁘게 나오네요
Good review😆
+Ria Lee 👍
Cannot find this in Great Britain anywhere , tubes yes, pans no. Shame it looms interesting.
Is there a video you did on just a beginning for beginners. I mean how to mix your colors and blend the colors. A very beginners video
I have this playlist of watercolor basics which includes some beginner videos. ruclips.net/p/PLiMPR1KaCr-kMYoHVNbotPV1ZP66jT_fY
What watercolor paint do I use
Can you do a video about how to care for your brushes? Or maybe you already have?
I've searched and searched, cannot find where to purchase the pan set of these paints, can you help me locate them, thanks Paula
+Paula Murphy www.jerrysartarama.com/mijello-mission-gold-perfect-pan-watercolors
Amazon has some amazing prices right now. I just bought the 36 tube set w/palette for $57. Such a GREAT PRICE!! 7ml tubes...
Will you review the shinhan watercolors
Hi, I also see that Mijello has a silver set, what's the difference between their silver and gold?
+Karen L My guess its a student grade paint. They have no standard pigment or lightfast info. which usually indicates a lower grade paint. They are also cheaper. Another good indicator.
+The Mind of Watercolor thanks! :)
Love your videos. So great to see a proper review of these paints. I know there is a lot of controversy on some sites about them but it's nice to hear a professional opinion. Some of the concerns raised are that they use mixes for earth tones instead of pure pigments and for some colors they use more staining dyes like Benzimidazolone colors mixed with fugitive pigment colors, but I think all companies do that with at least some colors. I'm new to this whole thing so I don't know if that makes a big difference or not but if the watercolor master gives it a thumbs up then I have to think its good quality. How do they compare to your M Grahams?
+IllustrationsByPete Thanks Pete! They compare well, but I will always prefer my M. Graham to just about any paint. Some of that is just due to a sterling reputation. Art Graham (the founder) has a reputation for taking the most meticulous care in selecting and milling the finest quality pigments. I was also interested in these because these are new and from an unlikely source. To some extent I put pans in a slightly different category. I think you can make a few compromises. I like pans for journaling and plein air (though tube color is fine for that also). In a backpack this would make for a nice portable set. If I were doing a full finished painting plein air I would probably bring a palette of my M. Graham. That said, I judge color in a pan by what I can see and by rated lightfastness. I personally don't care how they arrive at the color as long as its archival and permanent and I like the way it looks and flows. Consider that Schmincke pans (alway touted as one of the best and they are quite good) will cost you nearly twice as much for a set of 24, come in a smaller generic tin and a plain white box and NO COLOR CHART info is included in the package. Plus I saw higher lightfast ratings for most of these colors than for the Schmincke colors.
+The Mind of Watercolor Thanks Steve! I appreciate the info. I will have to look more into M Graham.
+The Mind of Watercolor, Your videos put me onto the M. Graham paints and I have started collecting them through great deals on eBay, Amazon, and sales from online art retailers. I haven't tried them, yet, but now that I've amassed a fair collection of tubes, I can start with a color chart.
Great simple idea of the black line on swatch. So obvious I have not seen it before. NOW I want to redo all mine= Mind of watercolor, living up to your idea.
Beautiful package and the pans look glossy and moist and good size for getting at with the flat brush.
Not sure I liked the layout, split between lid and base, what did you think about that?
Thanks
+Big C Doesn't bother me. In a back pack they get stood on end anyway.
Thanks for doing this review! I purchased their 24 tube set at Christmas. I was wondering what you would think of them.
+Julie M 👍
I treated myself to a Schmincke half pan watercolor set around the holidays and I really like them a lot. (If you've had a chance to use Schminke), how do these compare to those or to other brands like Winsor & Newton? Thanks!
+Karen S. I don't know yet. I actually bough some Schmincke also but the pans are still in the wrappers. 😁 I know these compare VERY well to my Sennelier pans.
nice man love your videos!
+Utkarsh Thakur 👍
Hey there, awesome chanel, just saw your workshop coming up on Strathmore...What scanner works best for scanning watercolors, do you know? I knwo there is CCD and CIS technologies...but I'm having a hard time scanning in an Epson/ CIS, as parts that dont completely are in touch the glass get blurred, and the reds and pinks are not being captured very well, they look too much alike..
+Monica B I'm not really a tech reviewer of current products so I don't know whats out there right now, but over the years, I've liked Epson or Canon scanners. For art scanning, I am currently using a very high-resolution Canon, CCD, stand alone scanner (all-in-ones are not recommended for art, nor are CIS scanners). The glass problem is a problem with any scanner you choose. The art must contact the glass to get a sharp scan. Art that won't lay flat usually has to be photographed in high resolution with proper professional lighting to get reproduction quality. And then there is the image post processing. Whole different subject, but you'll need a pro-quality program like Photoshop to get good final results. Suffice it to say that the road to high quality scanning is littered with pitfalls.
+The Mind of Watercolor . I worked in ad agencies looong time ago when the only way was to get the art to a drum scanner for reproduction...Is your Canon the 900F model? I saw some Epson scanners for art but they cost a couple of thousand dollars...
+Monica B CanoScan 9000F MarkII. Yeah, Epson makes some larger ones I wish I could afford. 8.5 x 14 is pretty limiting. Oh yes, being a commercial designer for some 30+ years, I remember the drum scanner quite well. I remember an ad rush job where I hand carried the art to the scanner guys and waited (watched) while they scanned it. That scanner would not even fit in my art studio. Huge!
As always, a great review - thank you! l'm just wondering how heavy the set would be - would you take them out on location, or would the palette be quite heavy, vs a similar size metal one?
+Vicki Wood Yes, I plan on taking them on location. Its the main reason I wanted to test them. I think they are very light. They won't fit in a compact bag but will work just great in my plein air backpack.
+The Mind of Watercolor Great - thanks Steve!
Thanks for the great evaluation! I received a sample of their tube paint when I purchased one of their palettes. Was wondering how you found the granulation of the pan paints?
+Annie Sterner No granulation appeared in the swatch tests but I painted pretty heavy applications. I haven't painted with them enough yet using all the colors and in watery washes where granulation tends to show up more. Will be something interesting to keep an eye on for sure.
Hi! How did you ask them for the sample? I mean how did you start the letter? I am also an artist and I want the set for review, how should I ask them for it? Thank you!
+Entropy At 17 I just emailed them, but keep in mind they are interested in the audience you influence not just what you think. When I emailed them, I gave them a link to my RUclips channel and shared with them a few stats as to the size of my audience and the buying influence I have. For them providing a review set was just cheap advertising.
This set did look very nice. Are the pans removable? I recently purchased the Bullet Proof palette, which is really nice but it is not leak proof. Great demo Steve thanks!
+Julie Montoya Yes they are removable but they are an odd size so a standard half pan will not fit in there unless maybe it was glued. Replacement pans are available via open stock which is nice!
The only place I am seeing them for sale is at Jerry's art-o-rama.. And it is only like $120. I'm amazed!
+Brittany Anderson try Amazon. 36 colors instead of 24 and it is only $67!!! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BFCGF2O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
+saltlakerenee 😍
+Brittany Anderson Yes, for some reason pans tend to run a bit more than tubes.
+The Mind of Watercolor I don't mind paying for the convenience. as a newbie to watercolor, pans are my favorite.
I love product reviews. What originally brought be to your channel was a review on Qor watercolors. I was wondering if you could do a review of LUKAS Aquarell 1862 Artists' Watercolor Sets, they are available at Jerry's Artarama. I am curious about what you think of the sets.
+Brandon Moreno I would love to say yes but probably won't. I'm not primarily a review channel and like to keep product reviews to things that are new-ish and products I'm likely to buy and use. Thats not to say that Lukas is not a worthy brand. My friend Marty over at the Owings Art channel has done a review of the pan set you might find useful. Give it a look. I trust his judgment. ruclips.net/video/oi_hP6e4ryg/видео.html
I understand completely and thanks for the link. Also, I love the bird sketches and paintings you do. Do you have a portfolio online? I would like to see more of your art.
+Brandon Moreno Thanks! Shamefully I don't. I had a gallery on my website which now contains only commercial work. My site got hacked and I redesigned it. I had to temporarily take down the fine art gallery and have been slow to get it back up. I am behind also on scanning new art works. You can find some of my work here at Fine Art America. fineartamerica.com/profiles/5-steve-mitchell.html
did you check if they are lightfast?
+Rakesh Pal they sre
I forgoto to mention that the credit card with 12 half pans fits over the bottom row of 14 1/2 pans in the tin.
Thanks for the review! How do these compare to M. Grahams? M. Grahams are my favorite so it's very hard for me to trust or like another brand haha
+Susaleena They compare very favorably. I will always prefer my M. Graham first just because of their formulation and stellar reputation in milling and choosing pigments, but I was interested in Mission Gold because because of these pans. A good value for the money. I'm pretty impressed with them even when compared to other artist's grade pans like Schmincke and Sennelier.
Awesome, thanks so much for the quick response! I always prefer M. Graham because of their formulation too! The honey binder they use is just astounding. I'll try out the MIssion Gold pan set sometime. Great review!
Great review. :) Have you tried Turner Watercolors yet? I saw them at Jerry's and I think they're Korean too.
+bastet469 Nope, never tried.
Thanks! I just put in a request for two color samples at their website.
+Rebecca Page 👍
I joined in mypetitecakes contest i hope i win that pallete...I love the slogan too. "Colors found in nature."

that last red color during the swatching did look quite opaque though!
+caldevera They actually rate it as transparent. I painted that swatch down a little heavy. Not a very scientific process I'm afraid. Any color will become opaque if you put down enough.
Very nice. Thank you for the review. Would you please do another after you've had a chance to work with them for a while?
+Mary Vivit Yes, although it will probably be various comments made within videos where I do a specific painting with these.
+The Mind of Watercolor That's a great plan. I watch 'em all anyway. 😊
+Mary Vivit 👍
The pallet appears to be useless. You can't use it for mixing.
You definitely can. The beading up stops after a while.
too bad that purple doesn't have a high lightfast rating. do you know of any purples that are good lightfast-wise? i have holbein purples and even they're in the middle tier lightfast rating :( thanks for this review!
+pamela paningbatan Its a common issue with many purples. The M. Graham (tube) Dioxizine Purple is rated very good and Ultramarine Violet Light is rated excellent. So there are some to be had.
+The Mind of Watercolor thanks for the tip! ☺
Hello!
Do give online classes?
+Madiha Rizwan yes it's coming.
+The Mind of Watercolor looking ahead. in shaa Allaah :)
😱
Can you tell me why this costs double what the 36 set costs?
+Aer Giaquinto Yeah, these are pans, not tubes (there is no 36 pan set). The manufacturing and pan filling process is different. Pan colors are also formulated a little differently.
Bread и Butter if my guess is right, pan watercolors are usually more expensive is because of the palette. The 36 is such a deal on Amazon because they probably ship directly from Korea. And the real retail price is actually like $200+ (which specifically made for a foreign country so their price is higher than "shipping products", on the other hand they are the same thing though)
Temptations, temptations, temptations...lol!
like the paint don't like the pallet
+Andy Coakes 👍
ive seen that the tube paints have many weird properties
ive seen in a video that the pigments dont really flow
reall weird
Not my experience
