Click on Start button. b. In the search box type devmgmt.msc and then press enter. c. Select the DVD ROM device and right click on it d. Now select Uninstall. e. Restart your computer. Hi Guys, i have followed all these steps although i am using Win 10, my drive opens and shuts but wont read discs, when i go to the dos prompt DISKPART and type volume list it sees it, but just reads 0 with music disc in, if i put E: enter it just says disc not ready, i suspect the drive is faulty. i have reinstalled driver etc makesno difference....Fred in Essex UK
Ok thanks i have fixed it now, the Optical drive on the laptop was faulty, i fitted another drive from ebay and its ok now...thanks for reply from Fred.

Hello, Please Help me HP, I Have a HP Pavilion g6 note book pc i3 2gb one day i have ejected the cd drive when my laptop was ON and i Shutdown the laptop while the cd drive was left ejected. i closed CD drive when the laptop was switched off and now when i turn it on the laptop won't detect the cd drive. i try to open it but nothing happens, no lights. i tried hundreds of different thing the past 1 year but still no sucess. Please help me what can i do!

@@HPSupport thanks I alredy clone my entire disk with all apps and it is working, , the only poblem i have is trying to use disk with information that i burned in a machine with windows 10, the machine with windows 8.1 read just original disks but not any burned disk made with my other pc with windows 10
