As a former RUclipsr, I will always be cool with a bad microphone or camera here and there. It’s so stressful to put out something you’re proud of and I think you all here at Scrybabies are doing fantastic. Keep it up and we’ll keep tuning in! Love the content!
Keep up the GREAT work! You two are naturals on camera. I am retired and did volunteer work at KMVT15 in Mountain View, Ca.. Our group of seniors produced 30 minute television shows on many different subjects and had many guests on our shows. We are called "The Better Part." We have filmed and produced over 1,500 shows. We did the setup ran all of the equipment and did all of the editing and was in charge of the music during the opening and closing of the show. I have produced some shows in the past and it is a ton of work but a lot of fun too. My oldest son and I started playing Magic back in 1994. Now my two sons and some friends play Commander at the kitchen table and it is so much fun. Thank you for the video.
I think we had the same origin story Played yugioh and game boy.. went to high school and college.. friend introduced me to magic with his friends just before covid / in 2021 just right about midnight hunt was being released
I'm the dude 😊 I started magic around the same time as both of you and close to you as well. Crazy! I appreciate the come up and the struggle though. Glad to see y'all growing more and more!
I've really enjoyed your content, and am glad you've chosen to share your personalities with us! I went into this video expecting it to be a grueling experience, but instead it's lots of fun and I'm glad I got around to it!
Considering the short amount of time you've played. You two are scary good players. Started collecting around Dragon's Maze and I'm okay gameplay wise.
Re: "everyone should have to work in the service industry", hell yeah. I work retail and it has absolutely changed my perspective on a lot of things. I get to see what people are going thru on the ground, every day. It can't help but change you. Honestly y'all are crushing it. Your commentary is really insightful. I love the determination to show us behind the scenes. It absolutely makes a difference to know what people are going thru. I wish more creators did it.
Awesome listen and story! Super cool! Podcast episode idea: what behaviors do you see in mtg players that boost the overall gameplay experience? What behaviors would you recommend / Top 10 S-Tier things you would want to see in new and established players to the game? -What changes between a casual mtg setting vs. a tournament setting? -Recommendations for new attendees to magic events? -Rookie player mistakes you make/made that you want the new generation of players to learn? -Recommendations for Card care? -How to handle unruly/salty players in both casual and competitive situations? -Top 5 commander builds with REALLY old commanders? -How do you vet Patreon deck recommendations? -Your take on how players without an LGS or active mtg scene could start one? All the best!
Nice talk. Your point on LGS gameplay in the 9:00 to 10:00 mark was spot on and in my opinion, the biggest problem with EDh play. You never know what you’re going to roll into at an LGS, and if you end up just sitting there, doing nothing for like 45 minutes, it’s not fun. That’s where the future of EDH play needs to go. Not with power creep for the wow factor, but a reliable way to somehow rank decks so you can play in an even powered pod and have an enjoyable play experience.
The issue with that is power creep makes that type of ranking unable to be viable. As time goes on they will print stronger cards which will make some of the current cards fade out to only casual play really and a whole new ranking would be needed. If that wasn’t an issue this could have been done ages ago.
I reckon the banlist needs hard bans (mostly for tournament play) and soft bans of cards that require discussion before play. Mass theft, extra turns, stax pieces, fast mana, etc that people have opinions on
Woot! PHILLY! Lol best food here I promise you that. I know for a fact that gear can be both costly, but also just straight up just malfunction. Though I do gaming content, I've always wanted to dive into MtG sphere, but cameras are expensive as hell.
2:37 Oh my god I'm not alone. I played the gbc pokemon card game a ton and later I got yugioh games because they would actually make yugioh card games for newer consoles. The gbc Pokemon card game came out for switch online not too long ago and it made me so happy. It even has multiplayer which I had never got to try before. But yeah, Magic was a natural conclusion to my trading card game hobby
Very insightful ladies! I taught my GF how to play commander. Her and i have been dating for 4 years now and we don't have much in common lol. Magic is something i like that now she likes! She now has a pod with some other girls too!
Listened to this in the car earlier and had to come in to comment! So glad y'all are doing a podcast now because I love your content but unlike 90% of Magic/Commander players I don't really like watching gameplay videos so am glad I can now watch or listen to your podcast! :D
It was nice getting to know the roots for the scrybabies. It's great how far you've gotten into the magic and content creation sphere, especially being relatively new to the game. Keep it up!
This was such a helpful video! As someone who is getting into content creation with friends as business partners this answered a lot of questions I hadn’t even asked yet
as someone who has played since Ice Age dropped, it so weird to see ubiquitous content creators like the scrybabies talk about playing for a handful of years. Now I haven't played ALL those years... but I guess it really says something about mtg... it doesn't take a lifetime to get good at it.
As a new and small content creator how should I go about reaching out to other creators to collab I don’t want to sound like I’m trying to leech off of them
I always figured you were just retired international jewelry thieves that would, on occasion...make some random nerd from an LGS your love slave for a few days before sending him packing with a smile and a broken heart
Idk what it is but magic content has slowly been "dying" over the past 2 years. Like viewership is dwindling. I cant be the only one who notices it. Maybes its algorithm, maybe its b/c covid isnt here or that its not worth the time to watch mtg content anymore to most as its so time consuming.
Feed the robot, chat. Feed the robot, feed the scrybabies.

Nice to hear the Good Luck High Five shout out. It would be fun to see you all together for a game.
We would love that!
Lots of love to you all as always!
