    We have this model which has just come to the end of its life, but I'm glad I watched this video because I don't think I would buy another one, even though I trust the brand. Why? Because this video makes me wonder whether the actual alarm is loud/ intrusive enough to be heard in the bedroom from its location in our kitchen. Yes, I've done a manual test before and heard it beep, but I assumed that in the event of an alarm it would start properly wailing. It would surely be possible to sleep through this in a 3 or 4 bedroom house, when with a legitimate CO leak you'd obviously want to be addressing the matter urgently.

    I can see one huge problem with it though - apparently it measures/takes readings only once a minute (!!!) as opposed to continuous reading.
    So if there's big fire and CO levels rise significantly ... it can be still within acceptable tolerance at some point and way too much (and too late) 1 minute later.
    But I really hope I'm wrong

      But your Smoke alarm would go off. This doesn't monitor for smoke.

    I am getting a CO monitor because I have some gas appliances in the truck. Most dangerous being an instantaneous gas hot water heater which stipulates mounting "out side only". Looking at the diesel heater i cant see a failure mechanism that could leak Carbon Monoxide into the cab. Only way would be if the outside exaust vent were to somehow get routed back inside. Or a hole in the muffler. Still the monitor will be fun to own.

      Hello mate , with my family camping in the van with me for the sake of £19 i am not prepared to take the risk . Also the monitor screen looks fun too lol 😂👍👍👍👍👍👍

      Oh Definitely! Also in the climate you are in what would be a bit of nice ventilation in Australia for you would be a howling gale. Plus you have far less cubic capacity in your living space.

    I have one of these and it starts beeping at 70ppm. Does yours read 0 (zero) most of the time or does it show a varying low level most of the time and then just peak when you have a flame of some discription?

      @@LT_TOMMY_ I was a bit curious because i read that the average levels in a house are from 0.5 to 5 ppm. With mine reading zero i thought maybe it's not good. Thanks for conformation.

    Just bought one of these exact models and it reads between 10 - 11 ppm wherever I put it in the house. Should it not read zero out of the box unless I had a carbon monoxide issue which I don't?

    • @karlos543
      @karlos543 Год назад +1

      You need to check, butI think it may be normal background readings.

      @@karlos543 Thanks for the reply, it was the fact that the meter doesn't read below 10. So this is the default minimum reading. I switched to the other display reading at it sits at zero.
