Hey Steve - I'm not a flight-sim guy at all (despite being retired AF). I just wanted to mention that despite my lack of interest in flying, I really enjoy your hardware coverage, even on products like this. The flight-sim community is one of the most passionate and I assume skews towards an older demographic since it requires a non-trivial investment. You guys are really pushing VR hardware development and I find your commentary very informative. That's it-I just figured it proper to extend sincere positive feedback to let you know that you're producing meaningful content.
Great video, Steve. I am almost ashamed to admit that I am still using a joystick for my flying. But most of my flying is either gliders or jets, so I guess it is OK. But it would be amazing to try something like this some time. But I think my next 2 big investments will be the 5090 and the Dof. Unless I win a lot in lotto and I can upgrade the whole lot for 10k or something like that. That being said, some of the satisfaction in acquiring new gadgets lies in the saving and prioritizing. You are lucky to be able to try all this out, but you have put in your almost unfair share of blood, sweat, tears, hours and money into your channel, so it is VERY well deserved. Take care, my friend. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
I was thinking about that. The VR headset, motion rig and force feedback control makers should all consider partnering up for the expos and offering extra units for demo purposes. Giving people a taste of the ultimate sim experience would probably help get them hooked.
Great video, thanks for making the effort. I havn't used FFB since the Microsoft Sidewinder days (1999?), and now it's time to get back into it. You probably know, but one reason these devices haven't been on the market was patent issues.
@@VRFlightSimGuy Yeah I think it was Immersion Corp they owned a whole bunch of different FFB patents until 2019, but there were others that also stopped anything like this in development. They sued Microsoft and Sony back in like 2000 and there has been nothing in the market since. I've had FFB on the driving sim forever and I can't imagine not having this FFB. It was always missing from flight sims and I'm so happy these products have started to hit the market now
This is what I’ve been missing since I sold my Piper share, the ability to feel trim forces through the controls. I’ll be looking into this yolk for sure
Damn, damn, damn. This looks awesome! I gotta see if I should save up for this and dive straight into the high end or start off with a sidewinder or something.
My favorite force feedback moment of all time was assuming my old Microsoft ffb suddenly broke while playing Il2, only to look at my wing and see that my aileron was shot away…
You my friend are a bad influence on me, not only have I bought the pimax crystal lite with your referral, I also bought the vrwave prescription lenses with your referral I've just spent another £642 on this cls-60 based on your review, I'm just glad my wife doesn't see my bank statements😂😂😂😂
I would apologise but, I know how much you are going to love it. Well done for getting in before the price increase too. Thanks for watching.. Now to hide from your wife behind my motion rig 😅
I've just ordered the Moza FFB Stick Base yesterday, despite the lack of information regarding the software. As Moza has been in the FFB business for a while now and is quite a name in simracing, I'm not expecting a bad surprise there. However, my hopes are high that they are working on a Yoke too, would be nice to have both types of controls using the same software. For now, I've got to go and buy some beautiful warbirds for the meantime :P
As FFB Yoke is too expensive for me I modded my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke by installing a cheap AliExpress linear actuator driven by a mini stepper motor. It moves the pitch axis neutral point allowing trimming by feel, like in the small GA plane.
It doesn't. The trim switch on the yoke (the left hand side part of the dual Alpha switch) was rewired and controls only the actuator without passing any control signals to the sim.
My comment is late to the party but I'd just like to say I'm glad there is more competition in the space. The more competition, the better it is for the customer.
With this MSFS at last becomes something to be taken serious again and rises above a game Sim. MS Thrustmaster had a FFB joystick once and then it just was gone. Looking forward to it.... Hopefully VIRPIL brings one out as well.
Great video as usual! I noticed your hands when holding the yoke are much higher up than in other videos. I know it is high because of the base of the FFB yoke. Wouldn’t it be nice if the guys from FliteSim would give us the option to turn it upside down? This would give us more options to choose the yoke height. If you agree to this, you are the man to let them know of this option.
Thankyou 😊 I'm planning to lower my DOF Reality frame to accommodate for this. But that's a good point and I wish I mentioned this has another criticism of the Yoke. Thanks for watching.
Amazing Video buddy. This is really interesting :) I got my 4090 on order and once I got it Tuesday to match my existing Varjo Aero. Cannot wait. Keep up the great work my friend. PS Im the guy that made the real nice compliment/comment at xmas :)
@@VRFlightSimGuy Always welcome. I actually watch them several times over. I cannot wait to see the power of the 4090. I’m as passionate about VR flight sims and VR in general as you are. I think I may start recording some videos and sharing in the group to share the joy. :)
I went ahead and ordered one. So many FFB flight controls coming out now and later this year, it's fantastic. Getting the authentic experience plus the ability to train with one is tough to pass up at the current price (even if it is a decent chunk of change). They're also going to be releasing FFB rudder pedals in Q4 as well. I hope they're similarly cheaper than the competition (which right now I think is just Brunner at over $2k). Apparently DOF Reality fixed the cogging issue on their rigs. Really in a great era for simmers.
Oh Steve Amazing vidéo 😍😍👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I wanted too a FFB yoke but the price #Brunner or #Simionic it’s very expensive .(1300/1100€) 😮 I have a #Rhino Vpforce for DCS /Il2/ (amd 7800X3D + Pimax Crystal + RTX 4090) it’s amazing a base FFB for military aircraft but for Mfs 2020 and 2024 I bought a day a #FliteSim FFB yoke CLD-60 as you 😍👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you so much Steve with this excellent vidéo Aplushhs /Laurent 👍🏻👍🏻🇫🇷
Would love the moza ffb base, it’s gonna change the experience massively. Just like the wheelbases for racing sims. Can’t do without it but it’s a little pricey albeit much cheaper than any other option
Excellent video! Love the 3 perspectives (4 if you count the pass-through!) combined together. Looks like an amazing product, although the size puts me off in relation to my current setup and I only just got an Alpha XPC =) I see you're not using a comfort strap for the VR1 anymore, any reason for that? BTW how easy is it to attach the counterweights to the back of the headset?
Thankyou so much, I really appreciate that, especially after all the work I put into this one. I'm using a slightly different head strap here for testing purposes. Very well spotted :)
Hi Steve. I am receiving the CLS-60 soon and am planning to mount it to my DOF H3 (BTW, thank you for sharing your positive feedback on these products which inspired me to get them). I also have a 4 mm aluminum plate with the same dimension as the CLS-60 (including the extra width for the mounting holes as per their spec: 377 x 434 mm). Can you share exactly how you mounted the aluminum plate to the H3? I am currently replacing the Honeycomb Alpha only and do not have a Bravo. I do have the DOF Alpha/Bravo Mounting plate if needed.
Did you end up with overlap in the front and rear of the table with that 400mm aluminum piece? IE: before the yoke was flush with the dof "table" front, now it sticks out in both the front and rear? I'd say if was flush in the front you'd have around 7.5" sticking out in the rear, maybe too much flex ? Guessing you have overlap on the left too, or the quadrant wouldnt still fit next to the cls60? (3"? )
I think if you get the force feedback rudders too, you have basically got a simulated aircraft. I cant think of much more you need. Obs youcan have a motion rig that can turn you upside but its not very pratical. Apart from things just being better , resolution, phyics etc. What is left?
Have you used the Brunner yoke, yet? Compared to this which is better I wonder... I've placed an order for this one, and the wait is way way longer for them to even ship than I expected.
In other places out there in the wild i've heard that its hard to keep the yoke calibrated or it simply doesnt stay calibrated, have you ran into this?
I had a question if you could answer, what's the performance impact in terms of FPS with this yoke? I know you have a beast of a system but just curious if you could shed any light on the performance impact. (I only get about 25 fps or so in VR so I don't have much to lose.)
Good question in regards ffb yokes.. in regards ffb joysticks.. it's taken so long to get decent ffb joysticks (like the ffbeast and moza that are only just coming out now too) because Microsoft had a patent on ffb joysticks in general that lasted 20 years since the Microsoft sidewinder force feedback 2 came out 22/23 years ago but thankfully that patent has now expired allowing other companies to finally evolve the technology.. maybe that patent somehow applied to yokes too
Trying to tell from the video, but what was involved to make that fit on the dof reality platform, or did you just attach it directly after removing the honeycomb? IE: can you get that plate online somewhere (i think you said you had a link) ?
My computer can barely run msfs right now in VR (I get about 15-25 fps) -- How much of an impact does this yoke have on performance? I'm thinking about getting it but not if my frames drop below 15.
Like @ped190 you have been a bad influence on me too. Varjo Aero and The Crystal. But my wallet beat you to my purchase of the new Moza force feedback Flight Stick.. When are you getting to test one of those. Also is force feedback, back for sim flying?
