Keep them coming ... so of THE most thorough reviews I've seen.
+genXd4d Thanks so much bud! :D More coming each week :D!!
You said that this keyboard doesn't support bluetooth, but it does. You can use either the Logitech Unifying Receiver or bluetooth to connect. If you take a look at the delete key you'll see the red bluetooth function symbol. I actually typed this comment using the k830 connected to my Windows 10 PC via bluetooth ;) You may want to add that correction to your description. Thanks for the review - I really liked it!
+rajun50 Hey buddy! Sorry for the late reply, this was the first model that only connected with the unifying receiver. Many people complained on their forums and a few months after I recorded this video they re-released it with Bluetooth :] Making it that much more worth it!
You got me convinced. Your review was so concise and well constructed that I just ordered one for my Nexus Player. I just wish the keyboard had some of the design features of the old K700 from the Revue, specifically the track pad and secondary mouse button in the top left corner.
+Marco A. Caudillo, Jr. Thanks so much :D We actually use it for our Nexus Player as well! To this day I use it just about every day, we love the thing!
Hi,
I need your help: I wondering if this keyboard will works with macintosh.....? And if so, can I use the multifinger guestures on the touch pad? (1,2,3,4, fingers)
Thank you and looking forward to your reply.
Thomas
I have a new Insignia 55 inch amazon fire tv. i also purchased a
logitech k830 tv keyboard. i went through the blue tooth pairing steps -
the keyboard was recognized and i was given the notice “device
connected” indicting that the key board k830 was now connected.
however! when i used any key or the touch pad on the keyboard “nothing”
happened! i tried in several of the input locations on the tv and the
keys tried did not show anything or movements within the tv screen.
what is it i am not understanding on how this is supposed to work?
I have this keyboard and haven't used it much until now. I have it connected to a Windows 10 laptop that is connected to my TV. BUT...if I don't use the keyboard for a few minutes...it seems to disconnect from my laptop and I then have to turn it off and back on to connect to my laptop. Not exactly what i want when watching a movie. Does this keyboard automatically go to sleep if not used after a few minutes?
I have two of these. One is slightly used in the pristine box. The other is brand new in the box. I also have a brand new K800 & MX Anywhere Mouse (v1) in the box, plus the used K800 & same mouse used out of the box. I am cracking up seeing this K830 & th eK800 on ebay for almost $700. Wow....
Great review. Hit almost every angle. One thing that wasn't mentioned is the technology in the keys...do we know if this is a scissor switch keyboard?
Hi, can we recharge this keyboard k830 with 230v 50hz power grid in Australia?
just bought one, luv the sleek finish with LED backlit functionality!
+Steven Liu Sorry for the late response! Agreed! I truly love the aesthetics of this keyboard, it's still to this day one of my favorites :D
So this works with a TV and consoles. Super handy! I hate typing on consoles!
+Simmzi Yeah, it works reallyyyyyy well! I use it just about every night :D
None of the videos I have watched address the set up for the unifier usb plug...where to you plug it...? on computer desktop system unit or on the actual smart tv?
On any device that can accept keyboard and mouse. If so, it's just plug and play say that point!
@@itcamefromabox do i plug the small usb dangle into my Uverse box or Samsung Smart TV or my desktop computer?
can i connect with one computer with unifying receiver and another with bluetooth and keep switching between the two as needed?
+Avineesh Goswami I don't believe you can D: Some logitech devices now have a switch so you can go from 1-2 channels but this one does not D: I wish it did though because I currently use it for the living room and bedroom so i'll d/c the dongle whenever I switch D:
Thanks for your response. I have already ordered so I'll give it a shot.
Do u now how to set F1-F12 with the function keys turned off I use this keyboard for music production and I need those keys to be standard
You can either use the Logitech Options software, or if you're on Mac, you can just set that in the OS.
What do you use to record? And what do you use to edit?
Last week I bought a Logitech K830 Backlit Keyboard for Au.147$, the illumination turns off after five seconds which is driving me nuts, do you know of any way to make it stay on??
MartinTimothy1 Same here, why oh why don't they give us options! Adjust the timeout or to stay on.
Any new Info on that? Thinking about buying one. Adjustable timeout would be great!
i been using one of these for like a year, the f4 button closes your active application, makes it frustrating when im spamming 1234 in games and i bump it on accident, other then that its a nice keyboard
+Paul Slater Sorry for the late response! I agree with ya, was playing an RTS recently with it and then accidentally put my machine to sleep D: Have to admit it was funny when it happened though! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it :D
Having used Apple wireless touchpad + keyboard for several years now, at the TV, I love the touchpad but hate the keyboard. Why? Constant keyboard bluetooth dropouts. And i have gone through 3 units now because i thought it was broken. For some reason Apple can make brilliant touchpads while they apparently make wireless keyboards out of their own turds. Looking for a good replacement now, preferably without dropouts, but with a touchpad as good as apple's. Any ideas?
Would you use this for a desktop? I'm looking for a sleek, wireless keyboard for desktop use and this seems like it fits the bill!
+tankzar Heck yeah! I'm completely in love with this keyboard and the first thing I thought of doing with it was using it as my main pc keyboard! I'm a huge fan of it's design :D
+It Came From A Box Thanks for the reply! What's real world battery life like?
can you use this for tablets?
and how many device can you work with it?
not too crazy about wireless for security reasons. can I hook up the micro usb to use the k830 as a wired kb or does it only do charging?
I believe cable is just for charging . Microsoft makes an AES keyboard though.
Thanks for the feedback, Ed. After Windows 10, I wouldn't really buy anything made by Microsoft or that even has anything to do with Microsoft. I will do a search for encrypted wireless keyboards. Be interesting to see what comes up.
thebunnyrules
I held off in windows 8 and 10 but finally went to 10 to get DX12 and other than its still flat and ugly I have no problem with it. I'm not real keen on MS hardware though so don't blame you there.
I am looking for a KEYBOARD illuminated Bluetooth with Touchpad. But I don't find any on the market except Corsair k83 or Logitech k830 If you know any could you comment please :)
hello, Can I use the keyboard with my android phone? no have usb input ???? can I use ?
Hey Edwin! With the latest version of this keyboard you can :D It works with Android 5.0 and higher :]
Can you use it without the back light on at all. e.g. using it during the day when you don't need the back light can you set it to off to save on battery?
If its like the k800 you can turn down the lights to nothing but you really don't need to worry about it. The k800 I used to have which was also wireless with lighting would last a year or more on a charge. It will also warn you that the battery is low by not lighting up to clue you in so if they are off you'll have to wait for the red I'm dead light :)
Does it works with the TV directly, without the computer? (Sony Bravia smart tv)
Hey Jorge, if you can connect it to your tv via USB it should :D
nice review!! do the volume/mute buttons work on mac os x?
Does the unify dongle posted work with the keyboard?
how would you compare it to your razer rgb keyboard (I know there for different things) as in quality, and key caps and such
+adark and I think the back lighting should be "brighter" or stronger as they seem a bit cheap and weak compared to some other products
+adark The LED's are pretty good! Right now I have a room light on and these pop really well, during the day when the sun shines in through the window it's still pretty decent :D
Well it must be the way it comes through the camera :/
I heard you say you are worried about losing the dongle but most logitech keyboards have a place in the battery compartment to store the dongle. Also the Dongle is I believe only for USB wireless not BT its basically for your PC if it doesn't have BT. I see this is an earlier version so it may not apply. :)
cant close windows after minimizing .any help out there.push f4 then cant close.
Has this hardware been updated? Logitech specs state it supports Bluetooth Smart, but looks like when you did this review, it didn't have any Bluetooth inside.
+Robert Rugg Hey Robert! Yes, back when I first purchased this keyboard it didn't have Bluetooth capabilities. It seems enough people complained in their forums that they then released one with Bluetooth under the same name!
+Robert Rugg Hey Robert! Yes, back when I first purchased this keyboard it didn't have Bluetooth capabilities. It seems enough people complained in their forums that they then released one with Bluetooth under the same name!
thanks for the review buddy
+Brian Stannius No problem! Thank you so much for watching!
That's weird--Amazon and other websites list this as having BT (as well as the Wireless receiver). A different model?
Hey bud! Yeah, that is a newer model. A few months after this review they released one with BT connectivity :D
How did you connect it to your Nexus player
Will this keyboard work with a LG smart TV 49UK6300PUE??
How does it compare to K780? which is better?
Hey buddy! I haven't tested out the K780 but we're putting it on our list to check out! From what i've read, the K780 was designed for Phones & Tablets, hence the tray at the top. Unlike this one, it doesn't have a touchpad so it's just a keyboard with a numpad! Hope that helps a bit and hopefully someone who has the K780 can also chime in :]
It Came From A Box thanks for quick reply! how does the gaming experience with k780? does bluetooth make it really lag as some people say? will the unify receiver improve the connection and lag?
When it comes to using Bluetooth peripherals, in the last 5 years I honestly haven't noticed or experienced much lag! The tech is getting better but with lap keyboards, I tend to take it a bit easier and use it with games such as turn based or point and clicks which don't need quick response like an FPS would. Don't get me wrong though, it still works great for fast games but since I use the touchpad on the K830, I would be terrible with it lol But if you're using these type of keyboards with a mouse, then they'll do well!
It Came From A Box thanks, if I going to get the keyboard with a mouse, G900/G602/MX Master/M720, do you think I should get K780, K830, or any other logitech keyboard?
I will use it for gaming, video editing, designs, 3d modelling, write diary on my iPhone, connect to my PS3 and so on!
Does it have battery health indicator?
Does this keyboard work on TV's such as my LG smart TV powered by WebOS?
+Jack2421992 Hey Jack! Sorry for the late response! The keyboard is plug and play so yes it should as long as it has a USB port that can accept mice and keyboards :]]
+It Came From A Box haha it's okay, no problem. I actually bought one a few days after, although the K400. Reason being is that the K830 wouldn't come to my shores anytime soon, even after a year after being released. shame, I was hoping for the illuminated one
+It Came From A Box Also, it does work with my LG 49UB8500 4K Smart TV :) Thanks again for the video though
Glad to hear :D! Thanks a lot for watching too!
is this keyboard bluetooth as well as USB wireless?
Ken The current versions are bluetooth. Original versions weren't.
@@BoltRM press and hold the function (FN) and delete key - that gets it into BT sync mode.
Is there an equivalent of this without the touchpad?
Yep, Logitech K800
Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed your presentation of the LOGITECH LOGO. I dont understand why other reviewers dont pay attention to the Logo, because thats the most important feature of a review... And one question: Can you please make a 10 hour loop of your background "music"? I want to rehearse a mental disorder, thanks :)
Hey Paul, I'm sure you're dealing with bigger issues in life and I wish you the best with that but this old and free video still covered a most of the device. You're honestly better off asking questions instead of criticizing someone who's content you're clearly looking for and managed to view for free lol
That keyboard does have some issues, you pointed out the worst one in the video, none of the red keys illuminate, so you have no idea which key you are looking for in the dark. Second problem, it is not possible to keep the backlight on, if you are a bit slow yhe light goes off.
You are wrong regarding Bluetooth, the keyboard has BT and you need to remove the unifying receiver, then press the RED/DEL Key, this activates BT for pairing. Once set, you no longer need the unifying receiver.
Battery is another strange one, it works for weeks and weeks without recharge, then it dies, and when it dies you cannot revive it with a recharge, you need to buy a Li replacement after market battery. (a bit fiddly) There is no gradual decay in the charging capacity, it goes from being fine to dead within a few hours, no warning at all. The first sign will be the green flashing light during charging will stop flashing and switch off with the charging cable still connected.
Windows will report your batteries are dying but Logitech Options will insist your battery is FULL, trust me, it isn't it is near to death.
It is an expensive keyboard and personally I think it is a bit of a lemon considering what you can buy for half the price these days. Much better keyboards with programmable illumination are available, most with backlights that remain in the position that you want them, not turning off every few seconds on their own. The software that is provided by Logitech is poor, the touchpad cannot be sped up enough and cannot increase acceleration, there is virtually no difference between lowest and highest speed settings.
For me, it is overpriced and not worth the money.
caught one on sale amazon for $54... really wanted the backlit for the family room tv! cool. Like microsofts All in One better, but the backlit logitec on sale is good for me!
I think Logitech makes best lighted key keyboards. the way it senses your fingerer tips to turn on....kind of hard to find back lit keyboards of any kind in the stores and I think Logitech knows it so a big price push must be payed..k400 almost the same but no lighted keys thus 24.00 k830.... 80.00 a bit much I would say
The build of the 830 is far superior to the k400 also
rechArgable battery too
I would hope so. I have destroyed one K400 as it was completely unstable. Bought the K400+ and it is cheap as hell. Really saved money where they could when they made this. The track pad is disgusting to say the least, I hate using it, so it takes away from the point of buying such a keyboard in the first place. K830 has to be better built, in order to defend the price.
good review bro thanks
Great Video Dude
Pairing with Apple TV - cant see this keyboard. Do i need to use the dongle or just turn off and back on to pair?
Anybody know how set a shortcut key to Android Phone for Google Search, RUclips TV Full screen button, Orientation Toggle?
All the great reviews, but I can't get my 830 to bluetooth pair with my Samsung TV (Samsung says it won't work). But then, I can't even get it to pair with the USB adapter. Then I took it to my desktop pc. The adapter isn't even seen with Logitech software, let alone trying to pair it that way. Sometimes the keyboard mysteriously works with the computer, but it's still not acknowledged by the software. I bought a couple extra USB adapters too, but no luck with them either. Called Logitech but couldn't understand the Bangladeshian support rep. Sigh...
Would this work on a smart TV like Sony
Hey Leila! It should yes :]!
Nice video. But are you aware about the extremely annoing backround music?
Considering it was our first video, yes.
I like ur videos n personality.
thank you for your prompt response
This is where it all started
Oh yes, the humble multimedia keyboard that we still use to this day!
you forgot to say how when you press the volume keys during movies it actually makes a clicky sound whereas before you mention the keyboard being silent and good for movies.
Hey Adam, we haven't experienced this :0 Which version do you have? Bluetooth? Also keep in mind this review was from years ago so maybe a recent update changed that.
Is this Bluetooth?
CAN A PERSON USE A STYLUS FLEX PEN RUBBER TIP ITEM SAY LIKE WITH STICKY NOTES
My keyboard dont turn lights of keys help me
Sound keys what? It was necessary to simulate typing.
+Alexey Vodomirov Hey bud, not too sure what you're asking? Originally I did record myself using the keyboard but being membrane it's very quiet and wasn't picked up well enough by the microphone. Since the sound the keys make aren't a feature that most people want to know about such as it is on a mechanical one, I cut it out. If you listen closely to 3:47 you can hear the keys though!
works on win 10 ?
Hey bud! Yes it does! There's a new version with bluetooth as well :D
Why would you be using a keyboard for watching movies?
Ferbeldeyberb It's for navigating around the media center and typing in movies/shows for search! Why else?
only issue is no dongle garage built in
Agreed! I honestly hate keeping track of that little USB dongle @_@
Logitech gave me 2 40% off codes so I decided to get two of these, I didn't realize they weren't using bluetooth directly. But i'm sure it should still work find with the Nvidia Shield TV 2017 and macbook pro 15" 2016
thanks for damn inch units. you could also add dimension in centimeters....
Check out the Logitech website 😋
Bro how can one possibly call it a review without a demo.... beats me and makes one feel that it isn't all good as you said
Well i've used it for over 2 months before reviewing it and the big thing to keep in mind is that it's the first video on the channel as well. I went through most of the details and as for a demo, it's a silent keyboard so there's not much to hear and using it is difficult to explain via video because you will never completely get the connection. That aside, what questions do you have over it that requires a demo?
you forgot to mention that you can change the sleep key
maybe in windows .. but how to do it in AndroidTV?
Great lecture, but the music is way too loud
Yup, good news is we dealt with that years ago ;]
I lost the usb connector
Te quedo super hijo y super bien explicado.
+Anabella Molina Estoy de acuerdo, hace mucho contenido (this comment is brought to you by Google translate)
Has anyone tried this on a samsung tablet? the newer version?
Maybe it is because I live in the 99% of the world that uses metric, but... as a general rule, if you still insist in imperial, try adding metric too. Other than that, thanks for the review.
+Sebastian Muñiz Hey bud! Our first few videos didn't include metric but after feedback from our viewers such as you, we now include metric in each of our new videos :D
It Came From A Box
Thanks!
Dat intro xD
considering buying it but for the price it looks quite cheap
+mcsofty To this day, it's the only keyboard I use in my living room and bedroom! I swear by this thing it's so good. I have a ton of keyboards and i'll say that the build quality trumps that of the keyboard i'm currently using that costs twice as much :D!
+It Came From A Box i got it in the end, came through on prime today. The build quality is better than i had thought it would be. I'll be keeping it after all. The mouse click keys do suck as much as i thought they would but the track pad is nice as you say. It's nice to type on.
It's an illuminated keyboard numnut, show it in the dark at least.
Lack of BT connection? WTF? DUAL CONNECTIVITY --> www.logitech.com/en-us/product/living-room-keyboard-k830
THE ONLY PROBLEM I TRIED HARD TOFIND A TUTORIAL WHO TEACH HOW TO PAIR THE BLUETHOOTH. AND I STILL CANT FIND ANYONE EXPLAIN THAT THEY ONLY TALK ABOUT USB CABLE.
+Samuel Lv Hey bud! Do you mean with the dongle? This keyboard comes with a dongle that automatically syns it with the keyboard! I don't believe the keyboard by itself supports bluetooth :O
yep its all good i find the answer by my self.
i was keeping try and finally i dind the secret. it support bluethooth as well i just pair it with my androind phone for test it work fine with donlge or bluethooth as well pairing with androind tablet or mobile phone
oh great to hear! glad you were able to figure it out bud :D
+Samuel Lv how did you get the Bluetooth to work? It says to press the FN and Delete button but it doesn't work for me. Could you share how you got yours to connect.
@@caso4299 press and hold FN and delete keys. it then goes into bluetooth sync mode.
It does have bluetooth though...
Hey bud! The new one does, this is the first version which didn't have it :\
missing mic
Ahmed Ghamdi I was thinking the same thing last night. A mic would be awesome. Could voice Google search, Skype etc.
thanks helped me out....its a lovley keyboard now I knww how to use it a bit better lol..does anyone know how I get to use at as on num 2 for my emailin....
+Dub Dub Dub Awesome to hear :D I believe in the settings you may have the option to change the keybindings! I'm not 100% sure since the program that comes with it may have updated but I hope it work :]
I doubt the battery is that good
user it is
annoying background music
2019
THE SLEEP KEY IS TOO FAR FOR ONE HAND SHUTDOWN
I KNOW CRAIG
Anybody try this on the RPi3?
If you lose the unifying receiver: buy another receiver for $10 or, buy a unifying mouse that has a unifying receiver also. Apparently they MUST be compatible or they wouldn't be unified. If you lose your car keys, dude, your car becomes a boat anchor... LOL!
Not small enough as a mini and too small as a daily keyboard. Worthless backlight, characters too small. Not worth the cost. A smaller option using thumbs makes more sense in a living room environment. Cannot stand dealing with unexpected key strokes as a result of severe key crowding. Cannot believe they continue to make this POS. The TK820 was the keyboard they should have evolved with by adding a backlight to it. The K830 has got to be one of the worst ideas to date. After failures with 2 K800s, 3 K810s, and this current worthless K830 I am typing this message with, I am so done with Logitech. Over-hyped, Over-Priced. I'd rather get ripped off @ $20 a pop for a perrix which would be good for a year. but I bet I'll spend 10X less on replacements over a lifetime
Urghh. Imperial units!
There's no empire in the states!
BTW If you're looking at this keyboard, i'd consider going with Corsair's K83 which pretty much trumps this one across the board!
This keyboard is an overrated, expensive CRAP! as are most Logitech products now. I have been using LOGITECh mouse all the time and keep replacing them every few months due to the double click issue, they use flimsey connectors on everything, their support is arrogant, and you are expected to PAY to ship the product back which will cost you more in shipping.
For the K830 I know several people who have purchased it and regretted it. It is a poorly built keyboard, the USB charging port is cheap and poorly soldered to the circuit board, there are known issues with MANY online who have complained of the USB charging port breaking and disappearing into the keyboard after only a few months. You can see right away when you plug it the first time as the connection wiggles, you know it will eventually break. I know half a dozen people who have had the same issue, there was 1 person who even after 5 plug / unplugs had the connector break, and they are very careful in how they care for their products.
Never buying logitech products again they are flimsey and poorly built.
Check reviews on amazon you will see so many people complain of the USB charging port breaking, this is a known flaw with this keyboard. It's worth investing more and getting a MS keyboard instead. Logitech has the SAME issues with their mouse, with the click contacts going bad, as the spring clips are extremely flimsey, paper like. I know by experience as I have gone through so many Logitech mouse over the years....... You could fix this by restoring the tension on the clips but they are so small and flimsey inside that it is near impossible to do. No more Logitech.
Didn't mean to be mean, sory
lol you weren't mean Craig :D No worries bud :D
