Nice overview of everything you need to do maintenance. Gunny Juice is the bomb. It's creator, Scott Gunn, recommends using it on plain basswood for a "nice crisp edge." Your local Hobby Lobby has a very affordable selection in different sizes with really smooth finishes. They also carry balsa and birch.
Still like leather personally, balsa deforms (permanently, unless you wanna plane it down again and again I guess..) whereas the leather deforms as a *feature* (sliiiiiiightly convexes the apex ever so slightly with right technique)
Gunny juice and kpl swabs are game changers. Knife tools and accessories have come a long way in the past 5-10 years. Thanks for sharing this. I like to see what other people use and pick up on things that I haven't thought of. Chop sticks and bamboo skewers are great for centering, cleaning, and prying scales apart. I actually used one to pop the lanyard tube on a para3, not easy but it worked. Did you make the bit holder thats in the video thumbnail?
You're so right about WIHA bits. They are worth the price.
I really like using the “gunny glide” in place in KPL for bearings/pivots.
Extremely comprehensive thank you so much!
Excellent and helpful information! Thanks.

Yep I have tons of basswood that I make strops out of for all my different grits of gunny juice 👌🏻
