It's nice to make a video about cheap knifes. We forget they are easier to use. You're not afraid to do what you have to do. And you are not afraid to loose them. ^^ Okay, they are not perfect. That is not some space steel. But it's not some showcases knifes.
I just went through your store and bought the very last one you reviewed by Nieto I just emailed you about getting a small fixed blade and out this Video came. I have the Kizer Smolt in 3v and I’m happy with it so since I trust your reviews I ordered it come July 15-20. I’m still looking for a small fixed blade with Bohler m390 or another super steel. The Ankylo is a very sturdy folding knife. I’m glad you recommended it and I absolutely love that knife. It’s in one of my pockets daily and that Elmax steel is tough, reminds me of my reverse tux padre’ in Vanax steel is a very tough knife and I love it!!
That Grillos a gorgeous little knife, unfortunately like everything else we get screwed on the price here in Australia with some retailers selling these for up to $200 😑
@@razorbackss wow that is crazy man I hate hearing this, we get hit with a bunch of money for medical bills every year. What about knives from Australia do you still pay a bunch or is it just imported knives
I have been a huge fan of Joker fixed blades; their quality/value is exceptional. I've struggled to find other Spanish knives of similar quality & price point. Thanks for bringing those last two Spanish knives to my attention.
My favorite EDC fixed-blade knife is the Ghost Knife from BoneTactical. It is a budget range (about $40.00) NPE knife that comes with a neck sheath & paracord that has a barrel snap so nobody can strangle you from behind. The blade is Zirconia Carbide, harder & sharper than even supersteels. The blade can shatter if dropped or torqued too much, like a Ceramic blade, but spare blades are available for a nominal fee at the site. There is no metal in the knife, sheath or belt attachment for IWB/OWB carry. Totally immune to metal detectors. It has no identifying markings on it so it is disposable. It is also totally weatherproof & has an excellent rubber handle that allows for a great grip even underwater - and has a pattern that prevents fingerprints. It is not a heavy-duty knife (I wouldn't ever baton it), but, if you need a disposable knife in an emergency, this is the one to consider. The blade is 3" & the total weight is 2.5 oz with sheath. It never prints & as a neck knife is worn in a location normal outside-the-clothes pat-downs never even touch. You can easily suitcase it because, unless you are wearing some large ornament on a chain, it will show up as some sort of mass if you are x-rayed. However, it is easily "suitcased" for getting it through TSA. I'm rarely without it. BoneTactical also makes a Bonedurantium Ghost Spike, which I do not have. It is a thin dagger-style one-piece knife that is more expensive than budget knives at around $100.00. It is also designed as a neck knife with the ability to carry on your belt with the optional clip. Bonedurantium is a high-pressure thermoset fiberglass & kevlar reinforced composite laminate. It shares the NDE qualities of the Ghost Knife except that at more than twice the price gives you a stronger penetration device, though, unlike the Ghost Knife, is not made for cutting or slicing (it is pointed and sides are very narrow, but not sharpened like the blade on the Ghost Knife). It is simply a dirk. The nonmagnetic clip to wear either the Knife or the Spike on the belt is also non-metallic with plastic screws to attach it. Other companies are now starting to produce non-metal fixed-blade knives so I'll be eager to try them out. BTW, regular kitchen ceramic knives you can buy at big box stores usually have handles impregnated with metal filings so they will be detectable by metal detectors. Don't trust them.
The Loveless designed Schrade PRO HUNTER is my EDC, for the last twenty years. Around 50 bucks. the littel buggr has parted out several deer an elk and a bear, in addition to all manner of general ranch work.
I bought that Kubey chopper based on one of your earlier vids. I intended it to just be a garage beater but I've really taken a liking to it for the around the house chores. Not a fan of the sheath but the knife has been very good, especially for the price. Good for opening packages, breaking down cardboard and has been very good for cutting all the zip ties that those evil toy company bastages use to rivet every toy into the boxes.
Nick....you are the f-ing man! So much appreciate your content as always bro!!! I know you purchase the mass majority of the knives you showcase out of your own pocket. Nieto have some good offerings, I recommend looking at the terrano in the flat grind if you like full size Bushcraft/camp knives. It's really well done ✌️
My EDC lately has been the Buck 113 Ranger. Fantastic little knife with a hollow ground edge. Very pointy and came hair-popping sharp. Granted, it's not something you'd want to baton through wood, but it also won't bind while cutting through thicker items. It's great for feather sticks and the large belly makes for great push cuts. Made in the USA! Buck also brought back the old Ebony wood handles. Current price is around $89.99.
Hey. Yet another awesome post! Very interesting and informative to be sure. I especially learn a lot as you discuss the various 'cut' profiles and specifically how that effects performance. ✨😺
Good stuff, awesome lineup, wish there were more guys doin sub $100 lineups. Seems like everyone wants to talk about all the 100/200 plus linesup. Personally one of my favorites for edc over the past couple years has still been the "Le Duck" 😂 by outdoor knives. It's been a great little knife, hardly know you're even carrying it and actually came stupid sharp.
Maybe it's a combination of steels, heat treat, blade geometry, and the edge. Personally I like a high carbon steel, with a good heat treat. Bps knifes, esee, cold steel ( older ones ) 1095 with a good heat treat is awesome. 1066 is nice.

I have a couple of knives in the 4116 steel and can say that it is a performer. 4116 takes an amazing polish and razor edge. I think the fine polish reduces friction improving edge retention. Just my theory though. It probably wouldn’t perform as well for harder materials but for softer materials it slices!
The Ganzo 807 is far more awesome than I thought it would be...so I bought 3 of them. They are unexpectedly STELLAR. The handle is amazing, and the blade is extremely tough and sharp. I have many $200+ EDC supersteel belt knives, and this one rivals any of them.

This video was almost like you read my mind. I usually don't care much for small knives, especially small fixed blades. My state has no restriction on blade length so when I carry a fixed blade 'in public' it is usually a Gerber Prodigy (,the model with no serrations) and no one in my area even bats an eye. I don't know the first thing about knife fighting but feel like a knife such as the Produgy (or an Ontario RAT 5 or TAK 1) are just better tools in case they need to see some harder use. I do sometimes carry my Spyderco Bow River if I want something a little 'less'. However, I am currently looking for a knife to fill a specific niche. I want something I can carry on my weak side in front, crossdraw that I could get to with either hand. I want it to be available in case I need something to help retain my firearm. Like I said, though, I know nothing about knife fighting - it woukd just be for 'get off me' purposes. Also, where I live is pretty low risk so hopefully it would never be needed for that purpose. For those reasons I don't want a super tactical blade like a Clinch Pick, etc. Instead, I want something more like a utility blade that wouldn't be out of place doing EDC stuff but would be available and capable just in case. I also wouldn't want to drop a lot of cash on what I consider to be an 'undersized' blade but in this case I do need a smaller blade so I could comfortably carry it crossdraw out of the way of getting to the other things I carry.. Personally, I like D2 and would prefer it to stainless. I also think the 'Sharpfinger' style is one of the most attractive blade designs. I actually considered just making a custom, crossdraw leather sheath for a Schrade Sharpfinger but with my 'table muscle' I think the thinner scales on the Shark might be better/more comfortable for carry. Then there is that Kwaiken - nothing 'tacticool' about the look but would also likely be a good choice - and at the prices I can get both! I like the look of the Tesca, too, especially as I am looking at this as more of a 'take it out and use it' knife' and like that it would be pretty easy to set any of them up for crossdraw with the factory sheaths. Thanks for the video!
Great video… I own a Cudeman Sanabria 2 and a Joker Erizo both spanish knives and really like them.
Very nice fixie knives
I wish I was good at sharpening lol I’ve tried several upon several times, haven’t given up I just haven’t gotten the edge I want yet
Any chance you'll take a look at the new Swisstech fixies, Stassa? I'd really love to see a video on the Leicht.
That Nieto is pretty tempting.
The Nieto is Neato
I have a TOPS UTE in their wonderful 1095(LOVE TOPS 1095 heat treat) and CS Pendleton Mini in 3v for my SMALL fixed blades.
I would like to know where each knife was made. Other than that, great video. Thanks for making it.
Great video… I own a Cudeman Sanabria 2 and a Joker Erizo both spanish knives and really like them. Been thinking to get the Nieto Grillo as a paring knive, and also the Yesca mini because seems a nice small knive. Thanks for the video. Would you recommend the Yesca mini for a camp knife? Have you done some food prep with it? Regards
Nice video.
Which kind of hockey tape do you use? I doesn’t look that grippy and thats what i search.
I used griptape but its quite uncomfortable on the belly when you carry it iwb.
Thanks in advance.
Can you get that nieto yesca (tesca) mini in the US?
What gloves are you wearing? Thanks.
Dude this was an amazingly informative video.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🍻🍻
