    I played first Remnant solo and after certain point in game when i obtained good weapon it was a breeze. But earlier i had some problems in few levels. It was either too many enemies to kill them efficiently or lack of ammo. Bossfights with infinite ads were also a pain- making mistake and dying meant i had to restart, while teams had ability to revive. So it was obvious solo players were in worse position. Im glad they made Handler (and Challenger) classes, to give you extra chance to revive and someone to tank for you.
    I also think summoner is good idea, i was using some weapon spell in first one that was summoning these flying skulls and they were surprisingly good. I guess im gonna pick dogo and then summoner as subclass.

    • @ReadyAimFire_
      @ReadyAimFire_ Год назад

      @LWKGD Subclass is probably wrong word, i meant secondary class. I heard that you can choose additional secondary class, but it will be weaker than main because it doesnt have its main perk. And Summoner is one of classes you can unlock by playing game.

      @LWKGD Thanks, I was thinking that dps class like hunter/gunslinger was also a good choice for Challenger or Handler. I guess every combo of dps and support class works fine.

    This video is a little outdated. Updated Version available! : ruclips.net/video/6xT5GDXCDSc/видео.html
    Some additional pieces of information:
    - one of the additional archetypes you can find in the game is the "Explorer" and based around looting and moving faster
    - another additional archetype is the "Summoner", I think you can guess what that class is about
    - Alchemist is the last available class, specializes in powerful buffing Vials and consumable potency
    Small correction after playing the game now first hand. Despite the Wiki still stating, and I quote: "They are split into five different groups depending on their function: Prime, Damage, Team, Utility, and Relic. Players will only be able to equip one Perk per Perk Type." From what I see in the game perks DO stack on each other, so you will have two damage, team, utility and relic perks active. I will keep an eye on that if it is intended or will change and update this section if necessary. So for now ignore the information at 01:20

      If I had to provide one bit of constructive criticism though I would like you to mention that this is theory crafting and hasn't been personally play tested (from what I understand reading in the comments about you not receiving a early access key). I say this because I play games like MTG and LoL, both of which people analyse upcoming patches and card/champion drops. While it is very important to do this, it's only from actually getting hands on with the new balance/systems and looking at the stats that solid conclusions can be made.

    Hunter-Handler was my thinking, prior to seeing your video. I think equip the Hunter with a medium-ranged assault rifle or machine gun of some sort. Higher rate of fire with the damage bonuses from Hunter should be potent and the dog companion should help a lot. I'm going to play the Medic though also, because I enjoy playing healers and support in MMOs, so I think in later difficulties I'd enjoy Medic here. Probably Hunter-Handler to start though, modified to a mid-range fighter.

    I'm thinking handler + summoner might be a nice companion build setup. Have healing grenade mod, and you can launch heals forward to your summons + dog. And you kite from ranged. Run the howl that aggros, so your dog is your tank, your companions are DPS, and you heal them and do DPS/DoT from ranged. Seems like a nice casual setup. The question is how does the AI truly work? Is the dog dumb and do your companions act intelligently? Not sure yet. But I'm thinking I try a ranged handler/summoner mix.

    I personally do Handler + Engineer, my dog gets me free heals and revives and gives me a massive boost to skill and ranged damage and Engineer gives me massive DR and boosts skill damage. If i deploy both, i can get 11% DR with a ring and another 20% DR for being near the turret. If i need damage i can pick up the turret and take that sweet 60% increase from handler (since it counts as a skill and ranged) and another 50% from engineer. Another 10% DR from barkskin and armor can get me 50% right off the rip.

    Just so everyone knows, there are two other classes tied to progression (one might be the gunslinger but I'm not sure if it's 2 more besides that one, I don't know what these other classes are, due to embargo).
    After seeing all the content regarding base classes, I've decided to run with challenger + handler.
    Handler prime perk does give a revive every 90's (a lot more often than 10 minutes) BUT it relies on the dog AI, requiring the use of a heart charge, AND if your dog goes down just before or after you do, you're sunk. The challenger revive is less frequent, but more reliable.
    Having challenger as main means you get strong back, so can wear heavier armor without penalty.
    When your dog is set to attack dog it obv fights in close range, synergising perfectly with you because you can fight alongside, making use of close range buffs.
    You can also make use of the dog's aoe defensive howl and your bulwark, stacking two sources of defense OR you can use the dog's attack buff howl and your own berserk ability to stack two sources of high single target ranged damage.

    • @wholesomegamer
      @wholesomegamer  Год назад +2

      One class I already saw is called "Explorer", which was a little underwhelming from what I could make out in regard of skills and perks.
      Challenger and Handler is the combination I might also start with. Be tanky and use Support Dog as constant HoT beacon with a flash heal every 90sec. Only thing I don´t like shotguns and melee that much, that´s why I might use the Handlers damage perk instead of the Challengers as soon as I can dual-class.

    • @TheAllanmeadows
      @TheAllanmeadows Год назад +1

      @@wholesomegamer sounds decent. I also think that handler is the best starting class. Level it up to 10 while playing, then switch to challenger as main when the option arises, or whenever handler hits 10.
      As far as I'm aware, although classes start with particular weapons, they aren't limited to just those types. I think that challenger can also use HMG's. I saw that the HMG medics start with can be purchased from a vendor in ward 13 when you get there. Like with other "souls like games" I think that every class's base weapons can be bought if you're playing a different class which can use that weapon.

    • @wholesomegamer
      @wholesomegamer  Год назад

      @@TheAllanmeadows The Challengers starting weapon is not the problem, but its damage perk, which includes "range to enemies". So as long as you cannot swap it out with f.e. the Handlers damage perk, you are stuck to close range fighting to be effective. That is the only downside for me as I prefer a more ranged approach.

    • @TheAllanmeadows
      @TheAllanmeadows Год назад +1

    I gotta say, I disagree with Die Hard being less flexible than Handler’s revive
    Yes, Die Hard has a longer cooldown, but it also isn’t dependent on your relic charges
    When your dog (aka the good boy) revives you, it uses up a relic charge
    If you have no relic charges, then The Good Boy cannot pick you up when you’re downed
    For this reason, I think Medic’s ability to more easily retain relic charges is a good match with Handler
    Honestly, Medic can benefit any class
    As far as secondary archetypes go, it’s the king
    Another good combination imo is Challenger+Medic
    Pop that shield, pop that rampage and rip and tear

    • @wholesomegamer

      Agree on Medic as best secondary class for solo players. Relic charges go quickly up to 5, so I don´t think that is an issue. But the reliability of the Challengers revive is for sure a solid argument. i think both versions have their up- and downsides.

      That combo will work great when playing alone! The Challengers damage perk is bound to being close to enemies, so think about using a Shotgun and later the Enigma handgun you can find pretty early once you reach the labyrinth. The first 2-3 levels will be much easier with the dog then with other classes, once you spend 10 trait points the second class slot will unlock. Enjoy the ride and take your time to really search every corner of the maps...lots of hidden areas, extra bosses and stuff to find 😀

Once you have 4-5 levels under your belt and collected some gear and ring, it gets a lot better. Challenger with Medic (Powerlevel 9 50% of the campaign) absolutely rules and is nearly unkillable while doing great damage (I started with the Medic and added the Challenger at Medic level 6).

    As a solo guy who plays with two friends when they have time, loving Handler so far. Only other class I've unlocked is Alchemist, so I have set it as my secondary. I'm still new (just finished a world and a trip into the Laby - god that cube boss was insane!), but I'm liking Handler/Alchemist so far and looking at what it can become, I think it could be really strong for me and allows me to be a super support for my friends when they can get online and play.
    I'm not sure about that bit about unlocking and equipping skills. Like I have Guard Dog and Support Dog, and Stoneskin Vial. I could pick either of the Handler skills, but not both. I think you just unlock them at levels 1, 5, and 10, but you can only choose one from each of the classes. So you can have one Handler and one Alchemist of any of the three you've learned.
    And yeah, long as you heal your pupper, he's amazing. :D

      The handler would give you the option to slot him in the first slot for a revive option when needed. The dog also applies bleed, which can be abused with some rings/amulets to boost damage. The dog also holds up great on the first two difficulties. The Medic has the super strong shield and Triage is very helpful, also you have more Trait points to spend, because Handler needs to invest into Rugged and the archetype Trait is useless. Both archetypes will work great for solo players. The Handler might get the edge for the dog constantly distracting enemies, making it a lot easier to focus on mechanics and learning the basics first.
