Awesome tool bro! 👍 I have been running this car since April. I'm currently running a Castle xlx2 ESC with a Castle 1717 1650kv motor. This system is soo powerful and yet efficient that it's amazing. Even running 1:1 (34/34), I can do 6-8 runs back to back at ~119 mph with no overheating issues. I did 4 runs yesterday back to back on this gearing to test out some new CNHL racing line batteries, 9500mah/120C. My motor never got past 107F & my ESC never got past 102F, 4 runs back to back & the ESC fan never even came on because it never broke a sweat lol. I have even ran this system with negative gearing, 29T spur/45T pinion. 2 runs back to back before things got warm but still within the safe zone. Thanks for the info and link, gonna try it out to see what #s it comes up with for my next gearing setup, 34T spur/ 39T pinion. 😎👍
Easy grab 2 xlx2’s the dual dub lock pps mount 2 1721’s or tp killmode motors and 2 6s batteries t it selling 6s with a carbon fiber chassis … switch the esc/servo mount to the Arrma infraction box you can easily fit any 8s esc other than the xlx2 in that area
I recommend arrma GP5 diffs(2.8 ratio instead of 3.308) it will give more headroom in kv/gear selection, especially if you end up going for a beefier lower kv 56mm motor. Once you push beyond 100mph your load % will grow steep. In my world 12% is more wishfull thinking than conservative. So don't worry too much about motor max rpm specs as load will prevent reaching them. The Castle XLX2 is the only real option for an ESC. With the castle MMX8S as second. For various reasons others are not a valid option when chasing the maximum potential. Motor choice is more or less arbitrary. 125mph can be done with a $50 4092 motor...
Hey Dom, Is this for a Limitless V1 or V2? My gearing choice would change depending on which version you have as gearing is different between the two versions. My motor preference for a circuit V1/V2 would be Castle 1717 1650Kv ESC for V1/V2 would be Mamba Monster X 8s LiPo battery: 6s 5000mAh minimum up to 8000mAh from SMC, largest C rating for best performance. Choosing a lighter pack may help handling performance here. I prefer to use Amass AS150 as connectors on the ESC and Batteries. You can split the 6s battery in to two 3s packs wired in series to place in to the 2 battery trays. Battery tray sizes are different between Limitless V1 and V2. V2 has shorter trays along the length. Stock gearing using a 27T pinion on a V1 would allow for straightaway speeds up to 140+km/h. A v2 would be even faster than this. For short tracks and even longer tracks, I would gear down (smaller pinion or larger spur) as you more than likely don't need that kind of top end speed. One catch is, you may not be able to go too much smaller on the pinion gear with the 17 series motor. In this case you could go up in spool size by swapping the stock spool for an 8mm Pinion gear. This works perfectly and what I used on the V1 Limitless to run a 22T pinion gear. Hope this helps!
If it's a V2, you can try stock gearing, however, I think you would be much better off by swapping the 39T spool for an 8mm 44T pinion. And then putting a 27T Pinion on the motor. I believe smallest pinion gear possible on stock gearing is around 32T.
HobbyWing Ezrun MAX 5 with a EZRUN MAX 5687-1100kv Motor. You may need a new motor mount for that 5687 motor. Price for the combo about $350 USD. Stay safe 😀👍
I have question …I have a limitless I will be running 1900kv 4065 size on 6s with 27t with stock spur gear with a mamba monster 2 I will like to know is that a safe setup for the limitless?
I used a Rocket 4585 motor 1580 kv with 6s 35c batteries, ratio 1:1 and it managed to go 110mph, I wish that I could try 8s but I don't know if the motor withstand that amount of voltage.
@@RCexplained According to the specification maximum voltage is 26v so I think I would be risking to blow up the motor, with the gearing that It has with 8s it will rev about 46k although when it is on load the battery will be like a 7s so regarding the revolutions it should be within limits but I don't know if the winding will hold on. Something else I think if I use batteries with higher output it could gain some m/hr.
So I have a limitless and a 1580kv rocket hobby motor in stock form out the box gearing and I still get hot after about 6 pulls on max 6 esc upgraded fan as well as motor having dual fans on motor. Am I undergeared running 6s? and hits 100mph in this setup gps confirmed.
igot castle 6s mamba 2 esc in my limitless is it possible to hit 100mph on 6s ? in yes what motor would you recommend ? and what if id want to hit 150mph? what esc and motor would you use to go over 150 mph? thank you !
Thanks ryan! This was very helpful! The spreadsheet i’ll defiantly be using it to calculate the speeds i want to go with for my rc cars. I recommend a castle 1100kv or 2400kv Esc: Mamba x 8s
very kewl, so someone like me intending on running a 1:1 gear ratio 34-34 would get away with using an 1100kv motor, without the fear of too much temperature issues im using the hobbywing 1100kv motor, its such a fat can i cant get anywere near the spur unless i run a 34t pinion.
Fyi: The hobbywing 4985 1650kv motor will hit the center spool drive cup if you use the supplied 27t pinon gear. I had to use a 29t gear and it fits perfectly 👍
@@RCexplained not sensored. Im running only a hobbywing max6. Everything fits in the stock locations on the limitless chassis. Anything else you are moving/modifying things to make fit. The max6 eac will run on 8s but the 4985 motor is "suggested" to run on 6s only.....👍
Very informative.
Castle Monster 8S/1717 combo with either the 1650kv or the 1520kv.
Sounds good!

I run the same setup no issues what so ever. 30/34 gearing.

U can use the 8s Arrma upgrade from the kraton in t limitless on 34/34 gearing and do 115 mph all day 1250 kv on 8s
doubt that.

Lehner motors in the 30 series and lower with the carbon sleeve can go up to 65k rpm. This is the highest of any manufacturer that I know of.
Check out the Castle 1721 2400Kv motor and any TP Motors with a CM.
