We do NOT get paid, can’t even keep the product, and are NOT told what to say or restricted in any way. If it’s great I’ll say its great and if it sucks I’ll say it sucks. Half the brands hate me because of this. Idgaf if pioneer never sends me something again. I’m gonna tell my honest opinion and that’s it. you are 200% correct. standalones will always be a scam over a laptop and a cheap controller.
the next level of scam is the corporate/proprietary software. switch to a platform like Mixxx and you can do things like: turn a 2-deck controller into a 4-deck, add stems controls to any controller, remap unused sections of your controller to totally different things, create whole new controller UX patterns like key combos and more
all of these things are gated behind useless gates so they can keep selling you junk every 2 years. a controller for 2005 honestly still works the same as one from 2024. and the software should be free and in your control, as a performer. not on a box you have to wait for some company to upgrade.

Here's the problem...Denon has terrible quality control...I chose the prime 4 over the original XZ for all the reasons everyone thinks... And the features are great... The software is amazing and keeps getting better... But the hardware is sub par and the build quality and quality control sucks... The faders are garbage and feel rough... The jogs on the prime 4 feel ok but aren't even and the LC6000 jogs are awful...I thought something was wrong with my first one so I sent it back and the second has the same issue... Pioneer just works and lasts

I get your perspective completely. I hope Denon gets their recognition of them being the true innovators the last 5 years, but the products and softwares around have their landmarks and impressions already. Kinda like how no matter what Samsung does ahead of time, Apple will still have a following (like me lol) to just buy Apple products because its better than the last, and the ecosystem making it smoother.
I also agree how the Pioneer/AlphaTheta reviews always too polished, less candid for most reviews I see. I have to dig heavy for true critique reviews on Rane Performer and for REV 7 (positives comments always nice ofc, but im looking for the critique to know if it'll bother me too if i have it). It's always the smaller random review videos that tell some gripes, like for example the Rev 7's moving platters have a slight delay based on its attachment design compared to Rane's which is hooked onto it magnetically. I found that sort of critique to be crucial on improving the next lineup. Honestly comments sections kinda lay out the problems so I guess reviewers don't really NEED to say it cuz the ideas out there in the comments lol.
I do feel like from Rane Four to Performer is the same upgrade level as from an XZ to AZ, just for different audiences. For the AZ, better late than never. It's crazy how the big reviewers are saying some features was exactly what was needed, but some never said any of it as a critique before the newer review itself like they're just holding it in. Kinda like you said politics to steer clear of hurting anothers feelings.
Pioneer was such an awesome name btw, but AlphaTheta really just have that Apple product mentality and can wait it out as InMusic keeps pushing serious boundaries in DJ tech, but GRV-6 (groove circuit) got me thinking maybe they're softlaunching their many ideas onto their lower-mid products (REV5's Auto transition, FLX4's smart fader, etc), so when the CDJ 4000 is in order, its gonna be jam packed with features way over ours heads, hopefully. Maybe better stems than Serato in the 4000s idk. $4000 for 4000s for sure too.

It looks like a solid unit. It's overpriced by about $500. It's good for someone who wants (but can't afford) a club standard setup. It's really that simple. Honestly, they gave DJs what they asked for - layered, four-channel, on-deck mixing.
This looks like a great piece of hardware, just a little overpriced. Nothing is perfect for everyone, but quite a few DJs will be very happy with this unit.

A lot of things wrong on this one. PioneerDJ/AT is one of the most diverse companies, the designs are based on feedback from worldwide DJs, not some Japanese dudes locked away from the real world. Louie Vega helped design the Euphonia for example....also, high end DJs are not travelling with equipment to gigs, if Mojaxx was booked to play somewhere with limited space the AZ might be on his rider, not in a flight case.Your right about the price /value proposition though, its pretty bad this time. My issue is they are marketing this as the same layout as 3000's and its nothing like them.

Pioneer has been off the pace for the last 10 years and it’s time to switch back to Denon.

The model name is pronounced in different ways due to accents in various regions. The letter "Z" is pronounced "zed" in some parts of the world. Just like we may say DJ "gear" and they may say "piece of kit." They also pronounce aluminum as al-la-min-e-um. As far as the stems go, I think the processing power of a built-in computer in the unit would have driven the price much higher. So the stem feature requires the user's own computer processing and it's no longer a stand-alone unit. Great video in terms of insight!

To answer your last comment about who is this for. It’s for a rich bedroom DJ. It’s for touring dj’s who want something fun in their house or studio to mess around with when lounging around. Agree this is not a mobile dj’s first choice. It’s just too big and heavy. Put this in a flight case and it’s probably same weight as a 12 or 15 inch sub. It’s a niche market within alpha but there are a lot of hobby dj’s in 30’s and 40’s and heck even me in their 50’s who want a full club feel but don’t want to spend 7-10k. There are lots of people with lots of cash nowadays and they are banking on those. Not the 20 year old kid wanting to get into this.

Next time you talk to Pioneer, ask who's the real designer and ask for him to be fired.
Those people should talk to DJs and listen to them... instead of listening to sales persons.
Not a single club or event will buy AZ, as they never bought an XZ.
So if you state that clubs will always use CDJs, for the simple reason they need to be able to replace one unit during a set if something goes wrong (like a glass of alcool on it), then, who are they targeting ?
Is the AZ enough so XZ owners will switch ? I don't think so.
Will people with the 1000's, or the FLX (10) go for it ? I doubt
They took 8 years to replace the XZ with a "cheap" CDJ-3000 duo and a striped mixed in one unit... nothing new, no improvements, just less !! Which makes me ask, how that 3000's and mixers cost SO MUCH when you can put the same thing in a 3000$ AZ ? (of course, you do that by using cheap everything inside...)
Pioneer, go back to the drawing table and IMPROVE. That's how you entered the clubs at first !
If a computer can do live Stems, why not a standalone ? need a better CPU ? a better GPU ? They exist ! just decide to use it. Djs will pay 5k to get all those features that they don't have with a 12k$ setup (3000's+mixer).
Same think for NI (Traktor)... you have the best software, just build some updated hardware !! Want to enter clubs ? want to make things change ? you're 80% there ! just invest a little more and take over dying Pioneer !

As for claiming the other people who review pioneer gear I’ll pay for it but you review Denon gear and of unbiased it’s clearly hypocrisy is it’s finest

I disagree strongly about that streaming part. Are we as dj's not also educators/curators and NOT a jukebox? Streaming stops when the internet connection stops...The reason why only Beatport streaming allowed is simple; Beatport paid money to have exclusive rights. It's nothing more than killing competition with money. This has absolutely nothing to do with geographical regions and/or cultural reasons.

Kinda selfish to be gatekeeping the music for those you're tryna play for isnt it? Like if the crowd or those in it want a song and you're like nahhh i dont got it (but you do cuz of streaming) because its not fitting your vibe or your perception of the vibe, sometimes depending on circumstance too it could be offensive to exclude those tryna to participate in the experience. Not always ofc but just a thought

Pioneer dj is the leader because they're gear is the most robust and reliable, not the most feature rich. AlphaTheta is changing much stuff and they don't feel pro consumer.. I hate subscription services and they're heading heavily in that direction

AZ is a cheaper version of the club standard also for festivals period. And that's for EDM lovers and professionals. The AZ wasn't created for that. So IDK why you're sitting talking about and comparing it to unlock everything with a laptop when that wasn't it's meant for. If you want that get a controller end of story.

    1. is too dam expensive, and nothing wonderful about (az).
2.. culture difference might play a role, Japanese always use the delayed approach, however their USA region also plays a roll aswell.
    3. a company will not throw all they eggs in one basket, needs to keep the production running.
    4. dj product reviewers seems to had to put in some good words on pioneers new products, I think some of them will never really recommend it in reality.

Streaming is a fad move on buy your tracks and support the artist you're playing

    • @lightskinmongose
      @lightskinmongose 3 дня назад +2

Streaming is not a fad, its the best way to prep for a set and try new songs before incorporating them into your mix. I use it all the time before an actual set. I listen to soundcloud on my drive to work, like songs, and then try em out when I get home. If I like em, I buy em, if it doesnt work in the set I am using, I save money and time like crazy because I dont have to buy it, download it, transfer it to my usb or mixer, then remove it when I dont need it. Also if I am streaming or doing a house party, I can get a song request and incorporate it within seconds. Just because I would never use it in a club doesnt mean its not useful. Not having soundcloud or even tidal in 2024 on a 3,200 dollar device is ridiculous. Especially when a 1,200 dollar device does it standalone.
