@@STXVIEC I hate to agree with you, Denon offers so much but I hate how their product line looks, Pioneer DJ is just more aesthetically pleasing compared to Denon

Yeah until you actually own one and you realize how poorly they're built... Denon is like Android... Really advanced features but it's not going to last the years the pioneer would... I NEVER sell DJ equipment but my prime 4 is going in towards the AZ
The prime 4 also offer blue tooth with the latest update. Honestly the AZ. Is more of the same with pioneer with some upgrades that were provoked by Denon. I see pioneer has been following the lead of Denon for a long time and tries to offer similar functionality but at significantly higher price. Still the Denon Prime 4 plus is the king
I have the denon dj prime 4 with internal 1tb SSD. Love using Soundswitch with the denon dj. The denon prime 4 is more advanced in their technology. I’m planing on buying the denon dj prime 4 plus to use stems feature. I love mixing with stems. I mix a lot of Latin music, so I love being creative for example blending acapellas in spanish with hip hop instrumental or any type of genres I can come up with. So denon dj prime 4 plus is the best controller for me. Reason why I haven’t gotten yet is because I’m loving my Rane Four performer.
The Prime 4+ is really great no doubt just before you drop your Cash on it please listen to how bad the Stems are, they even worse than Rekordbox Stems, sorry.
The size of the jogs is not a real problem at all. On the prime 4 plus they are a nice size and very sensitive to the touch. They feel amazing. Prime 4 plus is the king bro. These people are moving to something else because of Denon. They would still be stuck with the Xz if Denon wouldn’t have come up with the prime 4 and prime 4 plus
the Prime 4+ is the best all rounder and if the updated version has better jogs (for those who do not like the jogs) it will be by far and away the best standalone, had the AZ had all of the features it is supposed to at launch it would be somewhat on par with the Prime 4, the Opus is a niche product and was designed to be that so you either have to really like it and or your main gigs are high end functions that the opus would compliment. Also lets not forget the Denon Sc Live 4 that has a smaller screen to the p4 and the in jog displays are mid but if you can get past that it can do everything the P4 can do and is around £600 cheaper and when you take that into account it does not reflect well on the AZ and Opus for their prices.
Nice review/comparison. Wow! The prime 4+ constantly stands out above the rest. New all in ones released after the prime 4 that still can’t match the feature set of the prime 4. @@djdeboyThat is a fair comment. The Engine Prime software used to prepare music needs some more work. It is super simple to use but I have had it crash once and mess up the library. If I was buying equipment for home or having our residents play exclusively the Prime 4 would be excellent, but handing it over to someone unprepared just isn't an option when the goal is giving the audience a good show. Our events are free and frequent so we tend to bite the bullet on buying equipment rather than do rental; since I can use hire income as the funding source for free events (Alongside donations) not only does the AZ mean DJs have an easier time playing, but I'll also have an easier time hiring them out and making up the utterly obsene different in cost.
I have a ddj rx running on Rekordbox 5. I was considering buying the az but may just buy the new M4 MacBook Pro instead as my windows 10 laptop is coming to an end. I can't find anywhere whether Rekordbox 5 would work on the latest software on the M4 MacBook Pro. Any ideas??
I currently have a ddj rx. I want to buy the dj az. On my rx I can use multiple effects at once using the buttons along the top. E.g. reverb/flanger/spiral all together and very easily. I can change the amount of each effect easily too as they all have their own knob. How would I do this on the az considering it's just one knob to choose the effect and one knob to change the amount of effect?
I'd say in comparison it might not give you the same results as the DDJ-RX was made with this intended purpose, but where the AZ does prevail is its layout making it closer to a club setup which is why these features have been left off. We normally have seen these features in the past in the DDJ series but you can still combine multiple FX using the Colour FX & Beat FX at the same time, just not to the extent of that of the RX.
I have the Opus Quad, and it has everything you mentioned about the AZ, and even more. It has an extra USB port, an independent zone output to play different music in another room, smooth echo, and an incredible design. However, when it comes to effects, track analysis, and the link feature, the AZ wins.
The FLX 10 with a Laptop can do exactly the same as the AZ, but has stems and is much cheaper. Its just not standalone, but therefore is the big difference in pricing
@@m-stat9 the main reason to buy an AZ / Opus is to free yourself from the laptop. The added benefits of the stand-alone include a better sound card, and feedback elimination on mics. Otherwise the FLX 10 into a decent mixer may suffice.
The Opus also has Bluetooth. Additionally, it should be mentioned that it features a separate Zone output and is the only one with a smooth echo effect. + it’s on a way other level.
Denon has had Bluetooth connectivity as of Engine OS 4.0. Apart from the Sonic headphone connectivity, Alpha Theta has added old tech into a new controller for a $3200 price tag. It has all those displays, but no hot cue labels. What’s the point. Denon FTW with 4 year old tech at a lower price point 😂
Prime 4+ wins on features like streaming, flexibility with drives, build quality, screen display with track listings, names etc…not to mention it has an automix function with the ability to play a different list in a different room, a feature barely any of us would use. Cons- I hate the way it looks. The Small jogwheels suck and are too slippery for me who loves to scratch. Fader suck, fx suck, the layout has too much going on. Looks like a futuristic space ship cock pit with the led colors. From someone who loves to spin on turntables it’s not for me, but I do love it’s all in one features I own it, but I also preordered the AZ for the club standard feel. Plus the jogwheels are much better than pioneer. I’ll never know which is better until I try the AZ. The opus quad is something I would use but would never buy. Lol
It's clear that Pioneer has drawn inspiration from the prime 4+ in terms of the AZ's microphone controls and booth outputs. Apart from looks and tastes, I'm sorry for Pioneer, but Denon offers more for less, if only with all outputs in xlr, a mono stereo switch, and a tilting screen that can limit reflections and improve visual comfort. As for Pioneer's different effects management, it's a matter of habit. And don't forget that 40 years ago, d-jays were making audiences dance with Technics SL1200s !
This is how the xdj xz should it been released since the first day i think still would it pick the rx3 over this tho cause the value for money is just better in my opinion is way cheaper and is practically the same pay the difference of 1300 dollars for this over a rx3 just for the 4 channels doesn't seem too reasonable for me. Is a bit exaggerated.
Do you not realize they limit what they put on new products on purpose! 😂 of damn course they could have made the XZ like this. But no. They will purposely slowly bring new things to the light. On purpose.
They always seem to fall short...with the XZ it was lack of true 4 channel standalone. With the AZ they implemented 4 channels but can't get all 4 waveforms on 1 screen. If the goal was to emulate a 3/4 deck Industry Standard layout then flip flopping between waveforms ain't it. Prime 4+ does. It's ironic that Pioneer fanboys will shyt on Denon yet they want Pioneer to implement the bells n whistles that Denon has implemented in their gear. And why did they put the pads under the jogs when the 3000 has them above as well as the Opus Quad. Hell, they even did so with the GRV6 so why not the AZ? Pioneer/Alpha Theta are the Apple of the DJ world.
Dac is not the main thing in sound ;) board scheme, power options ant how electronic components works with each other...A9 sounds bad as all Pioneer mixers except V10 and Euphonia. By the way, Denon is nice gear for home studios or wedding djs, but Pioneer is still club standart for their long life and perdormance @@ddetongre
@@mindosy Pioneer has never been club standard. It was what clubs were told to buy instead of being given options. Plenty of incentive schemes in play to get the club standard off the ground.
Unpopular opinion : Denon should be the club standard now. There's ONE reason for that : Versatility. No matter which kind of file you come with, it should work perfectly with Denon gear. A media full of unanalysed files ? The device will analyse the file and allow you to correct beatgrid easily on the fly. Now, CDJ-3000 or XDJ-AZ can do it too but it's not as efficient. But EngineDJ can also read Rekordbox or Serato metadata and AFAIK, Standalone Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta gear don't read Serato or EngineDJ. Meaning that if a Pioneer user plays on a Denon unit, the hot cues or saved loops will be there. But if a Denon user plays on CDJ-3000 or XDJ-AZ, there will be no hot cues or saved loops. Also Engine DJ devices have more options for streaming services.
Would be great if the XDJ-AZ had better jog wheel displays like SRT1000 Also would have liked ability to change the main screen layout to vertical waveforms like you can with Denon
ive got the quad, and that beat grid thing on the denon is amazing. I wish AT/pioneer looked into adding that, but know they won't. Real shame. Other than that, i do love my opus.
I’ve been with Pioneer for about five years now that makes some pretty good gear but when I first got into the prime4 I just wish shocked how amazing me really is and there’s nothing like it so I’m gonna put some hate against pioneer just a little bit. Why can’t you make a mix? So like this? What has a high drive slot And for a better price because I think like after The mixes our own and I bought from Pioneer are very expensive and I can’t feel like I’m being ripped off a little bit
I find that the Denon is far too overloaded. I also think the feel of the Denon is very cheap. The individual products themselves are great, but the all-in-one devices are a disaster, if you ask me.
XDJ-AZ cutting edge? Can't even do what the Prime 4 does. And that's a 4+ year old hardware. And yes, that even includes Bluetooth which wasn't talked about their still-in-Beta STEMS, Soundswitch and Resolume integration.
The upgraded version of XZ named AZ makes Opus Quad even more special. We will easily find many people impressed by the design of Opus but no one will find it special before AZ and many people may confuse it with XZ... we should not put Prime4 here because it is not classy enough to compare together.😂😂😂😂
Without the large price tag? Alphatheta XDJ - AZ is $4600 in Toronto plus taxes. Prime 4 Plus is $2800. Buy two LC6000 Primes and you're roughly the same price with a much better set up.
The selling point for the XDJ-AZ is that it is supposed to be CDJ3000 and A9 combined but it is laid out way more like the Prime 4+ but with way less features. Prime 4+ crushes it at $1k lower price tag. The AZ is a wannabe. You can't even replace or upgrade the crossfader without a complete breakdown of the unit.
Your review is biased. You did not include the number of connections and outputs selection between the XDJ AZ, Prime 4+, and Opus Squad. The Prime 4+ also has bluetooth connection, you did not include that. This review looks like a paid Ad by AlphaTheta.
Thed AZ is clearly the winner, yes it doesnt have have all the features the others do but it will have that pioneer feel majority of us have loved for years and years!! if it had USB Type-C port its pretty much perfect!
It's so annoying the use of Alphateta logo🤦♂️ instead Pioneer DJ... As a Portuguese i always have the feeling of "Ao Pateta" which means "to the Dumbass"
Seems like the AZ has what it should of had before. Even now i think Alpha Pheta could of put more streaming etc into the unit. But they are holding out to put something new into the CDJ400S when they drop. It’s all a con. I say the prime 4 beats these even without including the prime 4+

I hear this unit doesn’t support 1tb harddrives? Is this true?
If price isnt an issue then overall what would you rather have. the prime or new XDJ AZ
I like the prime 4+, it does everything I need it to at a lower price tag.
Denon does far more for almost half the price. Easy win for denon
That's how it is! Pioneer charges you more to be able to pay what it invests in marketing
Not the same sound card however
@@Nogi-aka-DJNugz which 99% would never notice in the end
But it forces you to buy a Laptop with high features. So...Powerful laptop + Flx 10...what final price does it give you?
Ok Guys …… So, in what other areas would a decent MacBook/Flx 10 be “ less than” , say, 90% of what an AZ would offer. ???
@@m-stat9 the main reason to buy an AZ / Opus is to free yourself from the laptop. The added benefits of the stand-alone include a better sound card, and feedback elimination on mics. Otherwise the FLX 10 into a decent mixer may suffice.
The Opus also has Bluetooth. Additionally, it should be mentioned that it features a separate Zone output and is the only one with a smooth echo effect. + it’s on a way other level.
Not to mention the x-y axis abilities that I’ve loved since the RZX had them 8 years ago👍🏼
Dennon DJ is the clear leader.
The build quality of Alphatheta's hardware is sub standard in comparison to Dennon DJ
Le meilleur denon dj prime4 +
Let’s see how many DJs use all their fx
Why compare equipment sold not recently (prime4+/prime4) and Pioneer recently in a price range that does not match?
Prime 4+ wins on features like streaming, flexibility with drives, build quality, screen display with track listings, names etc…not to mention it has an automix function with the ability to play a different list in a different room, a feature barely any of us would use.
Cons- I hate the way it looks. The Small jogwheels suck and are too slippery for me who loves to scratch. Fader suck, fx suck, the layout has too much going on. Looks like a futuristic space ship cock pit with the led colors. From someone who loves to spin on turntables it’s not for me, but I do love it’s all in one features
I own it, but I also preordered the AZ for the club standard feel.
Pioneer/Alpha Theta are the Apple of the DJ world.
we want digital out for all channel and cue...
what about soundqulity ? is it like the pro mixer sounding ?
It has ESS 32 bit DAC in the AZ the same as the Opus Quad. In layman’s terms it sounds really good 👍🏻
@@ddetongre THX
Only prime+
Would be great if the XDJ-AZ had better jog wheel displays like SRT1000
Also would have liked ability to change the main screen layout to vertical waveforms like you can with Denon
Ooo that would be interesting who knows maybe fireware updates may allow this?🤔
ive got the quad, and that beat grid thing on the denon is amazing. I wish AT/pioneer looked into adding that, but know they won't. Real shame. Other than that, i do love my opus.
The beat grid is amazing - so much customisation ability!
I’ve been with Pioneer for about five years now that makes some pretty good gear but when I first got into the prime4 I just wish shocked how amazing me really is and there’s nothing like it so I’m gonna put some hate against pioneer just a little bit. Why can’t you make a mix? So like this? What has a high drive slot
And for a better price because I think like after The mixes our own and I bought from Pioneer are very expensive and I can’t feel like I’m being ripped off a little bit
I find that the Denon is far too overloaded. I also think the feel of the Denon is very cheap. The individual products themselves are great, but the all-in-one devices are a disaster, if you ask me.
You can actually adj the grid on the Opus Quad.
You can adjust the grid but functions such as adjusting the BPM are not available.
XDJ-AZ cutting edge? Can't even do what the Prime 4 does. And that's a 4+ year old hardware. And yes, that even includes Bluetooth which wasn't talked about their still-in-Beta STEMS, Soundswitch and Resolume integration.
Can I just get the REV 7 standalone I promise I’ll pay the money.,. Why doing everything but that ?
The upgraded version of XZ named AZ makes Opus Quad even more special. We will easily find many people impressed by the design of Opus but no one will find it special before AZ and many people may confuse it with XZ... we should not put Prime4 here because it is not classy enough to compare together.😂😂😂😂
I have xz thinking seriously to buy the az
I like my Opus
The big screen is nice, but Denon’s ahead of AT
WOW It looks like Alpha Beeta did a lot of homework to try and catch up with Prime 4 and 4+ didn’t quite make it if you ask me!
Of course not, they are still far from Prime 4
For me the denon prime 4 plus, i have one!
if denon updated prime 4 with full size jogs, cleaner look and same price point! it will kill everything else!
It's already happening without any changes being made. Prime 4 is everything that is good.
AlphaShitta, I’m so happy I got rid of my OMNIS DUO even tho I lost 400$ selling it
Denon prime4
Opus Quad !
Like prime 4❤❤❤❤
Without the large price tag? Alphatheta XDJ - AZ is $4600 in Toronto plus taxes. Prime 4 Plus is $2800. Buy two LC6000 Primes and you're roughly the same price with a much better set up.
Coming from an RX3, I’m really tempted to make the upgrade to the AZ. I miss having a key sync button😢
If you are UK based we offer Part-Exchange on old units! 🙌
still with my ddj sz
AZ by far.
PRIME 4 RULEZZZ!!!
Denon , doesn’t Pioneer own them. Now ??
Hmm.. no. Inmusic owns the brand
@@TheDJLab sound united owns all them
Prime 2 , because pioneer dont have internal ssd and streaming options... and I look for 2 chanels all in one system, now i use DENON prime 2..
Denon the hifi company and the Denon DJ brand are completely unconnected.
Pioneer are drip feeders. “Onboard analysis” welcome to the party. 😂
really missed the branding, opus should have been AlphaTheta, AZ a PioneerDJ
Prime 4+ by a mile with the price it's at
Opus quad more like 3000s for me. Look at the cue lay out
For sure! The OPUS-QUAD screams club layout especially with the extra 2 displays!
Prime 4+ have more input /output audio setup...
Tressa Skyway
Can’t get passed the branding change , it sucks!
P4+
Prime 4+が欲しいけど、Prime 4+は日本で発売されていません。日本国内の状況はPioneerの独占状態といえるでしょう。
bye bye Alpha teta ... Prime 4 + is the best !
Kemmer Trafficway
Denon prime 4 same tasks less price
they are all good but .
White Version please?
