Allow me to help my friend :) As you may see from my vids I went with the Opus for a reason, I can't find anything wrong with it. One little thingy, the Beaport sync we're all (OQ owners) waiting for. I don't use performance pads and I like the style, looks and FEELS for my deep and long transitions. The layout feels amazing and I can navigate easily through everything, trying to start playing with the top cues. After many hours I'm finally learning to use and let go a bit the XY filter. Unfortunately the AZ has a killer deal breaker IMHO, it should have the additional 2 screens above each deck, but maybe it's part of planned development delay for profit. Anyway, I think I might finish my days as a human and still carry my Opus Quad to wherever the afterlife leads (lifts it up, back cracks, grins)
Color changing jogwheels when switching between decks, choosing your own colors and color matching cue button when you use smart cue. Big + on the Opus!
Another great Vid Phil. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing us all this info, much appreciated. Despite how I feel about the Pioneer greed, these two units are beautiful indeed. The sound on my previously owned Opus Quad was remarkable. The platters were a little iffy though. Other then that and lack of more features including the promised streaming services it's a lovely unit. I will not be getting the AZ as I already had mentioned in another vid.
Does the XDJ AZ players hot cue function have the same issue like the CDJ3000 concerning timing where it sometimes "skips" a beat when in Quantize mode? Or is that fixed now? Still see e.g. James Hype still using CDJ2000NXS2 because auf that reason...
I think the AZ has that on the hot que pads if you press the shift button. All the hotcue pads have their normal mode and a 2nd available mode with shift. Correct me if I am wrong though.
even prime 4 has that, you can say club standard only, their are both nowhere near denon and cost a lot with limited features, they take for ever to upgrade
I have always loved the warm sound we get out of Serato when it is ran from a laptop however I'd like to get a standalone unit and ditch the laptop so mainly my question is about sound quality. Is there anything better in terms of sound quality between the Opus Quad vs the AZ? Ultimately I am trying to get a close to the Serato sound as possible. I'd rather it sound warm rather than crisp and clear.
They're very similar, and your Serato sound is really all about the controller you're using. these are good units with good audio interfaces so you should be good.
@@digitaldjtips The DAC in the controller is the main component, true. But the sound colouring is built into the Serato software which you only hear when it's played back through the Serato DJ software. If this controller gets Pioneer closer a warmer sound, this unit is not perfect but might be all I need for a standalone controller.
I've played on the Prime 4 many times, a friend ended up buying one as soon as it came out...and it's very easy to navigate, and any DJ should be able to jump onto unfamiliar gear and know what to do. It's all the same concept on any equipment for the most part. The thing I liked, if I forgot my stick or wasn't expecting to jam...I could easily connect to my soundcloud or use the Tidal software and easily and quickly find music on the fly. Which, if you used the Prime 4 in a club, and one of your files is corrupted...you can easily search it up and pull it up. But I will always prefer Pionner/Alpha-Theta...
@@alexlearningspace5644 yeah it’s pricy, bulky and heavy. If you a mobile DJ with lotta gigs it might become cumbersome to travel with. Other than those few things it’s a great controller. I use it with VDJ.

On the subject of four waveforms I had an RZX before and that was able to demonstrate them successfully both horizontally and vertically on a 7 inch screen ?? Poor show from the Devs if they don’t get that sorted relatively soon for both units. There are things that I will miss about the quad., the XY axis, again, another thing the RZX had , as well as the way of doing loops off the dial knob that I think is superior. If I had to chose between the two, I would not even consider the Quad for a second. I can not even give a "good" reason. Only that I want my DJ gear to look like the traditional way. What I really can not understand, is that they try to replicate a traditional DJ setup with the AZ, but then the Quad has the more CDJ-like hotcues. What are your thoughts on comparing this new Pioneer unit to the RANE performer? Let’s just say we shut the motor off on the Rane. Which do you believe is the better unit?
I can share my honest opinion as an Opus Quad owner. The biggest difference is design for sure. Looks nice with the furnitures for a private event. Another thing is Opus doesn't have performance pads which I don't essentially looking for. Both are 4 channel stand-alone units. I wish AZ had hot cues above as CDJ3000 has. Other than that Opus's beat fx knob is very hard to rotate as well as I really wish they have put buttons for looping instead of a rotating knob. That's the only feature I hate tbh. I'm looking to get an Opus Quad next year. I had an RX3 for a year which I just sold because I didn't like the sound quality of recorded mixes which sounded a bit muddy. The Opus Quad has a much better professional sound card. How do you find the sound on your unit sir?
At 3:17 it seems to imply that you mean you can control the actual internal decks with external players, am I misunderstanding or does that actually work?
Sorry if that’s misleading. You can set decks 3 and 4 for Pro DJ link and then use two external players. It will sync everything up, let you share the library, browse tracks etc. but you’re still using the external players’ audio interfaces and you still need to have the audio input coming from those players into the inputs on the XDJ-AZ. Enabling Pro DJ Link switches the AZ into “two deck” mode, which effectively gives you four physical decks - which is why it also worked on the older XZ.
@@digitaldjtips Ahh okay yeah. I figured thats how it worked but it was a topic in a facebook group and someone thought thats what you meant. Cheers for clearing up!
I hope you can make a video comparing the effects of rekordbox against the effects of Serato dj pro, since in the version of serato 3.2 I told us by email SERATO that improved the effects and increased them, I hope you can review them to see if they are actually improved or continue with the previous audio quality. Thank you.
Thanks for the idea. As long as you've got a good reverb, a good filter, and a good echo, we're fine. It's not something we spend an awful lot of time worrying about, to be honest.
In theory it should be even better. The CDJ3000 used an older Qualcom CPU, which showed in all the initial tests against the Denon SC6000, as the Denon's were quicker.
@digitaldjtips Can you do a short one in ahowing/checking if Pro DJ Link already works with CDJ-3000 and hopefully even CDJ-2000NXS, CDJ-2000NXS2 or XDJ-1000MK2? As the XDJ-AZ uses Device Library Plus, and that isn't support on any of those devices, I am really wondering if 1 USB can be used from either and share songs between them. I get it that both their own USB would work, but then... Does Master/Sync work between them? and the key "stop light system", again curious if that works with the players mentioned above.
Yes, Pro DJ Link does work with the CDJ-3000. We haven't tried it with anything else, but we're pretty sure it would too. It doesn't matter what library it uses because that doesn't affect Pro DJ Link.
@@digitaldjtips Thanks for the quick reply. That the CDJ-3000 needed a firmware update to support Pro-DJ-Link with the XDJ-AZ (3.16 version) does have me slightly worried about compatibility within the rest of the Pro-DJ-Link eco-system. I think we have seen similar things between NXS/NXS2 and CDJ-3000 etc. where the newer generation didn't like the older generation or went into a "limited mode" after some firmware update. I've seen a lot of great reviews, like yours, but almost non seem to go slightly more in-depth into showing the linking and rather state that it should work. Hence the question, but I suppose it is a niche. If possible for you guys to explore a bit further, I would really appreciate it, if not I'll find out when the unit arrives :). Cheers for the videos!
I dont know about denon but 100% of all nightclub venues I been to they all have pioneers than anyother brands. I am still waiting a price cut on cdjs 3000's since this AZ came out 😈
I think it depends on the country, in my town here in Reading UK, there are lots of "Trendy Bars" and a few of these have Prime 4's. Also Ministry of Sound in London has Denon SC5000's that can be placed in any room if you prefer them while there.
Well, they obviously don't think so because they're now using the new version on all their latest gear - but yeah, maybe you do prefer the old ones. That's up to you, of course! 👍
I don't really understand the hype of the AZ tbh. It seems like its just an XZ with a bigger screen with a few minor updates. Or am I missing something?
Nope your right,it's just to sell the units . I think they royally screwed up . For this price you can get a Denon sc live 4 or near a Denon prime 4 or 4 plus and they still hold the crown for one of the best standalones on the market and the os is great!
I have the Denon SC Live 4 and honestly it is the best thing going, especially for the price. More compact than prime 4, and club fx layout was the win for me over the prime 4. The Pioneer AZ does look good and finally a worthy competitor for the Denons - just not on price (shock)
Hi, I don't know if you are just a bedroom DJ and never touch a cdj, and don't see the point of many club DJs or what. As much as I like Denon's innovation in the last few years. DJs who used to play in gigs/clubs for years are familiar with Pioneer cdjs and djm layouts. Denon got very close with SC4 all in one, but having such small and loose jog wheels ruins the experience for many of us. Also so far denon all in ones quality is not up there with an XZ/AZ since those are as good as CDJs. Denon sc6000 players and x1850 mixer are great but expensive due to being high-end players (even though cheaper than Pioneer cdjs3000) however in controllers and all-in-one's territory, there is not 1 single Denon unit that comes with the jog wheels of the sc6000s as they the do many Pionner controller and all in one units. Quality could be better on denon too, but I understand they need to cut costs somehow to make it cheaper and being a bedroom DJ product should be ok. Nevertheless I think Pionner products are overprice and lack of features compared to Denon products. I hope this point is clearer for you now.
You're right - it's what the XZ should have been all along, and that's the important thing because the XZ was a success despite itself in a way. This is just putting right the wrongs of that unit. They didn't really have to do anything else. It's going to be so successful.
Digitaldjtips thank you, can you compare the audio or sound quality between the opus quad, the xdj AZ, and the denon prime 4+ in a video please? Because in addition to the price, some of us are quite interested in the quality of the audio, if you can make a video about it, but if you can't do it, I ask you to please tell me for you which has better quality and audio/sound fidelity of these three monsters Thank you!!
There are two devices shown in this video, which one are you asking about? They're the same price ($3,199), but the AZ is still not released. Only available via preorder right now.
@@delroybrown3631 it’s personal preference hard to tell you which one you should buy, based on your use to me if you do wedding and private parties then go with OPUS QUAD but if you want something more club style use then go with XDJ-AZ cuz the last one has more club standard mixer in the middle

It's dissapointing the bias you've been giving to the AZ.. Did you mention the Opus has 2 USB ports so you can use 2 laptops, which the AZ doesn't.. Can you also use an ethernet hub to allow syncing 2 CDJ's to the unit?..
We have no bias towards any of these units - we just tell it how it is. By the way, the Opus only has one computer USB. Yes, AZ has Pro DJ Link via an ethernet switch, no, Opus doesn't.

Two-channel versus four-channel, streaming versus no streaming, cloud direct play versus no cloud direct play, bigger screen versus smaller screen. The list could go on, but ultimately, if you don't want the effects send and you don't mind losing the separate phono and CD inputs, then the newer one is for you.

I can't think of one modern DJ controller that does have MIDI. Some mixers and I think some Traktor gear in the past had, but that's a long time ago now.
I’m wondering if the screen layout and operating system on the OPUOS Quad or AZ is the same as on the RX3? It’s frustrating that I can’t seem to change the alphanumeric display, and it only shows the classic tonality. Please tell me there’s a difference! If it’s not an XZ or CDJ, I struggle to navigate my music collection, and I have thousands of tracks. I need help! Also, the option to have just one more headphone output doesn’t really improve my experience - I prefer having more flexibility. @digitaldjtips, can you help me out, brother? Respect!

Can you connect a SDJ-1000 to both the FLX-10 and the XDJ-AZ?
I dont know about denon but 100% of all nightclub venues I been to they all have pioneers than anyother brands. I am still waiting a price cut on cdjs 3000's since this AZ came out 😈
I think it depends on the country, in my town here in Reading UK, there are lots of "Trendy Bars" and a few of these have Prime 4's. Also Ministry of Sound in London has Denon SC5000's that can be placed in any room if you prefer them while there.
Generally true worldwide according to what our audience tells us - however, of course, there will always be exceptions.
CDJ 2000 jog wheels are vastly better than the 3000s - Wish they kept the mechanical feel for the XDJ-AZ
They are greedy and it is showing. That and the lack of of innovation will be their downfall.
And still only two waveforms in the main/parallel track view when playing four decks? I just don't get it.
2:50 very rare that clubs let you use their Ethernet 🤷🏾♂️ I dj in Vegas
Indeed
@ club standard… yet clubs won’t let you use Ethernet on pioneer stuff🤷🏾♂️ seems backwards thinking to me
“Nice piece of furniture”
That’s about it 😂
Haha, I see what you did there, but it really isn't. It's a very capable unit.
It's crazy that they're both priced the same. The AZ should be $300-$400 cheaper.
Prices tend to drop not long after release.
👍👍👍👍👍
Digitaldjtips thank you, can you compare the audio or sound quality between the opus quad, the xdj AZ, and the denon prime 4+ in a video please? Because in addition to the price, some of us are quite interested in the quality of the audio, if you can make a video about it, but if you can't do it, I ask you to please tell me for you which has better quality and audio/sound fidelity of these three monsters Thank you!!
They all sound great, and I personally would have no problem DJing on any of them over the biggest sound systems. That's about the best I can say.
What is the price for this and how can i get one ?
like 4600 canadian so about 3350 american.
There are two devices shown in this video, which one are you asking about? They're the same price ($3,199), but the AZ is still not released. Only available via preorder right now.
@@SubOxydeI personally owned OPUS QUAD and I don’t see its much different than the XDJ-AZ it’s basically minor differences between these two monsters
@@delroybrown3631 it’s personal preference hard to tell you which one you should buy, based on your use to me if you do wedding and private parties then go with OPUS QUAD but if you want something more club style use then go with XDJ-AZ cuz the last one has more club standard mixer in the middle
@@conwayGAMEScrazy how worthless our dollar is becoming. It’s the same amount of work to make a Canadian 1$ vs American 1$. We just get punished for living across the border and they make us pay over 1k more. My friend in the US has the same job as me, makes 30% more per year and has to pay a fraction of the taxes I pay. ☠️
AZ is coming home :D
It just looks cool…😂😂😂😂
The opus has gate cue Phil.
Has it? If so, I stand corrected. I'll check next time I look. Thank you for the heads-up.
Never liked the Opus Quad, weird design and looks like an Atari 2600, also those clipped corners are just weird. I will buy the xdj az when available to buy, been waiting all my life for such a unit 🙏🏼
I Loved my Atari 2600! 😅😊
Have you owned one?
It’s not for everyone, but some people love it me included actually
@digitaldjtips you got THAT right! 💯
@@digitaldjtips its in an incredible piece of kit. Your tutorial was invaluable in getting to know it!
Denon - Rane performer is the ultimate, forget about Pioneer gimmicks.
It looks that someone is angry with the Opus Q. 😂
XDJ-AZ vs XDJ-XZ please
Two-channel versus four-channel, streaming versus no streaming, cloud direct play versus no cloud direct play, bigger screen versus smaller screen. The list could go on, but ultimately, if you don't want the effects send and you don't mind losing the separate phono and CD inputs, then the newer one is for you.
i dont like the way xxdjaz mixer is not centereed and it is a bit left positioned
and the screen too :/ not in center
It’s the same on all Pioneer/AT gear because of the effects strip
@@digitaldjtips well i own RX3 , FLX they both centered please look on it, u can see all the previous XDJs they all centered , but this AZ i think ppl like me that love to see all in place aligened perfectly wont like to see mixer and screen not centered
Kinda random question... Are there any of these DJ controllers that have midi? I want to sync my RC-600 looper with it. Thanks
I can't think of one modern DJ controller that does have MIDI. Some mixers and I think some Traktor gear in the past had, but that's a long time ago now.
Denon The best
I’m wondering if the screen layout and operating system on the OPUOS Quad or AZ is the same as on the RX3? It’s frustrating that I can’t seem to change the alphanumeric display, and it only shows the classic tonality. Please tell me there’s a difference!
If it’s not an XZ or CDJ, I struggle to navigate my music collection, and I have thousands of tracks. I need help!
Also, the option to have just one more headphone output doesn’t really improve my experience - I prefer having more flexibility.
@digitaldjtips, can you help me out, brother?
Respect!
DDJ-GRV6 vs DDJ-FLX10
Easy, GRV6
@@digitaldjtips i agree! would love to watch a comparison though
Dont really see the appeal of the opus quad at this point. To each their own tho
Exactly, it was never made to appeal to everyone
The opus quad is just really overpriced men 4650 dollars i mean compare to the opus quad i would much rather get the az at least to save little bit.
You dumb bro?
4650 Dollars. WTF 😅 this is expensive….
Phil can’t stop talking about the XDJ-AZ this week.
It's the hottest release at the moment.
It's true because so many people are asking for it - we can't remember a time when a gear release caused so much excitement.
AZ is a joke imo… Opus Quad should be AT and the AZ be Pioneer DJ. So many problems with the AZ so I wouldn’t buy it.
Like what?
I don t like Alpha Theta name.Pioneer dj is legendary name Why Pioneer??
Denon can destroy these both with one update
Okay cool.
In a perfect world I wish both of the companies could come together and make one beautiful beast. They could use the best of both of their best pros and ideas and eliminate the cons they struggle with
Update is iPad
The Prime is old. And Denon will never be pro club gear. Sorry!
@@Positive_Tea denon was club gear before pioneer! Lol
Neither, pioneer is over and the new brand is a joke
I think sales will disprove that
The quad is $4k and can’t do streaming lmaooooooo
You wrote this to laugh by yourself huh because the quad ain’t 4k ☠️
It can stream now. New update
Both have no slip mode. Ahahahahaha fail!
The AZ does for sure
@ where?
That Opus Quad looks DISGUSTING. SImples...
It does divide people... we like it!
No internal drive…pass!!
just get some Velcro man lmfao
Is the XZ better than the AZ? Kind of bummed I just got the Xz and than the AZ just released
No, this is the new model, and this is the better of the two.
