In conclusion, they took the DJ-XZ, added usb-c, slapped a bigger screen, added two more screens and updated the software.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice piece of kit, but theres nothing new or revolutionary for the price. Personally, I'm still working with the DDJ-1000 and I've yet to see a new controller that will impress me enough to upgrade.
Lacking internal storage as a sata drive
8k for a stand alone controller, rather pay the extra and get the cdj 3000

I feel like this is more of a high end, in home, art piece. Like you're the DJ that displays this in their living room for guests when they come over.

To me, it looks like Pioneer designed this to be the center piece of a Hi-Fi system in some ones living room rather than in a nightclub or mobile DJ's set up.
i like the fact that they are being creative with the design, the controller market needs a jolt in that area

@@renechang2406it definitely justifies. The jog wheels are big and essentially the same ones on the cdj3000s. The interface is big. It’s one of the best standalones.
Haven’t been a live/club dj since 2008, back when 1210s and Cdjs were king. USB technology is completely new and I’m keen to get back into it. Buying this after your thorough review. Thanks

True and we can stream from Dropbox, beatsource link, etc and our laptops to our players wirelessly. Or just plug into one of the three USB ports with stand alone track analysis.

It's awesome to see a fresh take on the controller. I love that they integrated the cdj 3000 style controls, it makes it much more versatile. I see these sitting in clubs with 3000s plugged into the 1 and 4 channels and linked into the ethernet port. If this proves as durable as the 3000s it's going to turn into the next club standard

I’m an all around Wedding, Event and Nightclub DJ. This is not some living room display piece. The Opus Quad is everything a true professional needs to run any level of event. I will own one within 60 days. Thanks for helping me confirm my suspicions, Nick…The Opus Quad is definitely for Mobile Party Productions!

Lacking the not a true stand alone / i use tidal because i cannot download all my musical also lacking sata drive demon is still king good try pioneer but did not krack it

Simply amazing. I loved the design and curves. The only downside is the price. But being a premium product, we couldn't expect anything different in terms of price.
Yes you can expect something else. Denon has the Prime4 at 1k less and the SC Live 4 that can do almost all the same things plus has streaming services is even half the price

I am taken back by how quality the sound is. Never have I heard better on a all in one controller
Informative review, Nick. Thank you! If I didn't use a laptop, this would be an immediate purchase. I'm hoping Pioneer release an updated DDJ-1000 in 2023. I'd like to see a high-end DAC for improved sound quality and a LOT more new FX options. Anything else is a bonus! Keep doing the great work :)

This unit seems to meet all my specific DJ needs of the XZ & Rx3 combined and I agree with you on the look of it, looks good. Reminds of the wood side panelling on some classic synthesisers. Top review - love your style!
It seems great. Hopefully they will add 4 waveforms on top each other as you metioned. Its crucial since this thing makes everything easier.
Effects and tech side is on fire!!! House DJs got a serious upgrade..
This is definitely made and geared towards the house/trance DJs!!! I love it. I can't see any mobile DJ hauling this controller to gigs every weekend, no way!!!
Now makes sense why Nick didn't do a commentary on this leak or the FLX10

This gives me hope for pioneer to come out with a standalone battle mixer! Solid review on this Opus Quad
Things I am missing :
- internal HD space for standalone
- tidal streaming in standalone
- lights management in standalone
So long, I am going with my prime 4 that still is ahead of the game obviously...
... also would be nice to have 4 waveforms simultaiously.
I got my prime 4 before the pandemic & it was $1300, middle of pandemic that prime increased in price to $1800. MY GOD $3K for a pioneer that has all the same technical DJ features, including the sound effects & functionality, but minus the streaming services and internal drive capability. What ever Pioneer is smoking they're having us front the bill for them.
@@djchrisdisc There's a lot missing on the prime 4 that are seldom or never talked about. Mostly because users of the Prime 4 who love it don't have the knowledge about the differences or have, but don't use them. For us who do need those features it's critical features which makes me wonder why Denon skipped on those or why they at least haven't implemented the ones that should be easy to fix with a software update. i got the Prime 4, and to me it wa a brick, and I had spend hours to research and knew just about everything all the reviewers and Denon themselves told about it. Took me about 5 minutes before i realized all that was missing, and while i couldn't get rid of it fast enough, it took me 3 months and a huge loss of money, which is a whole other problem in itself. So Pioneer it is, for me. At least i gave Denon a chance and I'm happy for all of you who love their new gear.
The area in the slider that you wanted to click is called a "detent" so when you have a slider or knob that has an area where they click into or come to a rest in the middle its called a "detent".
This unit is amazing I would like to get one.
It is a beautiful piece of equipment ,but that price?!?! I would imagine this would be the flagship model. The size alone tells you this is more a house set . I can see folks using this in clubs and venues. I can't wait for the smaller version cause it looks heavy! lol! Great review!

I like the design and it resemble a Denon DJ Prime 4. I watched your entire review and lost it on no streaming out the gate. WOW! I just did a gig on my Denon DJ SC Live (shameless plug), but I had my hotspot from my phone and streamed with beatsource and Amazon music, did't miss a beat (pun intended). Now for $3k, they got a helluva journey with this one. I'm good with what I got, but great review as always.

I feel like the 3rd and 4th deck can just be dedicated to the zones so not needing to have the wave form on as they are usually pre mixed for background music in another room

Am i picky when saying this is a fancy pioneer version of the denon prime 4?
1. Fix the nasty color and beat effects deadzone (Horrible... other owners agree with me on this one)
2. Enable on-board conversion for legacy pioneer playlists or add support legacy playlists
3. Fix some of the effect ergonomics and X-Y pad behavior
4. Give us software master EQ

If you look at it $3000 is not a lot if they were individual players with a mixer you would spend more. Good look on the video.

How about making and upgrading the mid level controllers, for us DJs that aren't loaded. This is not as mobile, as the DDJ 1000 srt. Tell Pioneer to fix and come out with a better model to replace the DDJ 1000 srt Serato version. Way to go Nick, they listened to you about the IEC Powercord, and they are sending you gear. Your the BEST!!!

The upgrade is in the speed...If you're gonna be spinning for the next 10 years plus it's worth considering 💯
Can I afford to buy it? Yes!
Am I going to run out and buy it as soon as it hits the shelves? NO!!!
However, as someone mentioned before, I'll treat it like an art piece.
It would be a set-up for my man cave / game room to entertain guests.
I wouldn't use it for gigs outside of the house.

I'm a BIG Pioneer guy......but I think they missed it by putting gear out (at this time that we're in) that does NOT work with Stems!!!
I still want it though lol
OQ works perfectly with stems BUT you need a laptop running Rekordbox or Serato and make some midi changes.
I think they made the first DJ equipment focused on private event DJs. 🎉🎉 (like weddings, anniversary parties and things like that where fancy has to be fancy.

Thanks man! It is the newest generation magvel. Just not the magvel pro… with this product, they removed alot of the common labels to refine the style

Stand alone is the future of DJing. Soon DJ's with laptops will be like a DJ playing CDJ's. Pioneer learned from Denon and many of what they have on this is on the prime series.
And that is exactly what makes it tacky..all the useless crap denon has.

Doesn't look like it's made for stems, however ... that FLX10 that just dropped is pretty sick with the onboard stems controls.

Question. Don't you think the buttons in the front are a bit vulnerable? I'm guessing you can easily hit them with something walking by or with moving.
I just ordered it and can't wait to have it. BUT, there are, as you said, a few cons.
The cue buttons can`t be assigned to other functions, like my SZ2 for example, like rolls, slicer, sampler, etc.
Why didn´t they put a DMX out and stem buttons on it, like the FLX10? I hope they have Stems always on the screen, when playing with serato.
Why not making a touchscreen which you can flip up/down? Now the flightcases have to be much bigger too, to make it fit.
And honestly, when did you use ever a second zone? And if so, make it compatible with SONOS and/or HEOS.
No DVS? Why?
I love the design though and the features like 3 USB ports, WiFi, Bluetooth and the big touchscreen. Let´s hope I have just as much fun the next years , like I had with my SZ2 :)
Hey Nick! 1st allow me to apologize in advance; As a fellow sufferer of OCD, I know full well the torture of not being able to unsee something we think is "out of order". When you were going over the cons of the unit, I just knew you were going to address it and was shocked you didn't. ("What is this guy talking about?" you're probably asking) Stand up, look at the Quad and I want you to think of one thing; RANE ONE. Then I want you to think about the issue you had with THAT unit. As I previously professed; I apologize. LOL
Would you buy this over the New Flex? Just using it for hone use and occasional gigs.😊

Nick, Great review love it and it's features are sick... Love the touchscreen but I'm hesitant to use without laptop? What type of reforming of harddrive would you have to do? Watched video twice she's a beauty though design is sick .. air currently use the Pioneer SZ2 and love it.

I was waiting for the Rev 10 for a larger platter...If the Opus has the platter size but the tempo adjust is still on the side...sigh...I wonder if the display is adjustable or fixed. It is still a monster machine. Possibly the last controller you would ever need to buy....wholesale it probably cost 2g's and sells for 32g's...Looks promising

Yes you can assign the FX to any channel!

IIRC in Mojaxx's review he said the crossfader ISN'T a Magvel like the S11, which was a disappointment for him.
I am loving my REV7, but I"m not gonna lie...I'll be just a little jealous of anyone copping this one. It's definitely the best looking standalone controller Pioneer DJ has ever made. I am not ready to trade up my REV7 for this, but I'll definitely keep my eye on maybe getting it in the future. Love your REV7 review and did good with this one. Thanks, as ever!
