aren't we all squirrels looking for our scarves while spring is coming and we don't need it anyway, but suddenly unexpected disasters happen and we realize how futile is to waste our short time here worrying about our fears and anxieties?
the problem with Alberts solution is that it assumes life is naturally occuring in the universe and not a single incredible anomaly never to be repeated, sure planets and stars will form and die forever but their beauty is for naught if there is no life for the universe to experience itself through
If you think that our planet is somehow special in the universe and that life is a once in a quintillion year phenomenon then you haven't fully grasped just how big the universe is. There are literally billions of stars in our galaxy alone. To think that not a single one has intelligent life is frankly stupid. Beyond that there are trillions of galaxies in our local cluster of the universe alone, each one with billions and billions of stars and potential life bearing planets. We may never encounter intelligent life in the short time span of our species existence, but that doesn't mean it's not out there. As an intelligent species we've only been recording history for less than a cosmic blink of an eye. 5000 years of history is laughably small in comparison to Earths 14 billion year history. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Life is not nearly as rare as you might, or should, think.
+James Held we can calculate planets, stars, asteroids, black holes and even to an extent dark matter and energy by looking at where the gaps are, but in scientific terminology life is dark, there are an inconceivable number of perfectly habitable planets with exactly the right conditions for life to form. But why would it? In all honesty I was about to go on for as long as I liked but then I remembered, life is stupidly ridiculously impossible, but the factor of evolution is unmistakable, it doesn't have to be life as we know it, all you need for life to develop is something, like DNA, that can be replicated and carried on inside of something else. Most likely it will 'die' out before it is anywhere near as complex as a cell, but with billions upon billions of planets where this might, might be happening, the chances are slim but far greater than 0. fucking hell
The bear had it right. It's best to just worry about the crushing pointlessness of everything all at once, rather than individually worrying about the lots of little problems you encounter. Much simpler that way.
Love how the owl only gets to discover shit, the beaver best attempt ends with everything getting broken, and the fox seems to die inside when opening himself to his friends.
+David Imberti but the problem with Alberts solution is it either a) relies on life being naturally occuring in the universe, and not a monumental anomaly never to happen again b) relies on the comfort that even if life is snuffed out of the universe, never to be repeated, and planets still form, stars still come and go, until eventually the universe dies, and even through astronomically low odds is renewed in a second big bang, why does it matter? without life to observe it the universe is empty space with some clumps of quarks gluons and the like sprinkled about in a few locations, without life to observe and understand and interpret that's all the universe is, all it ever will be, without life even the fundamental components of matter don't truly exist, as it is only through life that the universe truly exists with any true meaning, hollow or otherwise. If a tree falls and nobody hears it, it doesn't fall at all. If the universe dies and no one was there to see it, did it really exist at all?
+Bearrorist infinite time doesn't mean an infinite chance of something happening, you're thinking of it as purely mathematical when infinite amount of time is actually a series of instants that go on forever, therefore if on each of these instants there's a negligible chance of the requirements for life to begin coming together then there's an almost certain chance that given an infinite amount of time it will happen at some point, mathematically speaking it should happen an infinite number of times, but in terms of practically speaking while it is basically absolutely certain it will occur it may not happen on any of the infinite instants that will pass
+BloodyChrome You seem to be messing up life and consciousness. Why life would have a inherent capacity to "observe" ? Life too is no more than some clumps of quarks gluons and the like. There is no magic in biology. If the universe is infinite and not cyclical (I'm talking about both time and space) then life exist an infinite number of times. And this is absolutly certain. Though the universe may be cyclical and cycle through a loop without life, or be finite. It is likely to be infinite in space, and given the part we know about, life is very likely to happen elsewhere (Fermi paradox).

Wow...I really needed this. My coach had (unintentionally) destroyed my reasoning for living, that is to say, she made me think about the fact that I don't have one. But this showed me: My life may be a millisecond in the vast infinity of the universe, but if I can make this one millisecond the happiest thing yet, no matter how sad, then maybe the next two milliseconds will be great as well. And because we had 3 great milliseconds, then the next 10 will be nice as well. And in the next 10 nice ones, maybe a new person, who wouldn't have brought joy if everything weren't so nice, would make it beautiful for another 5. So the circle continues. Ever growing. +Papapanda Well, You Tube is like a box of things, lots of things, (bet ya thought I was gona say peppermints, did,'t ya) with a small opening. When you shake it only a few random things get out, so you hafta shake it many time to perchance get a gem, gift, spark of goodness. Not too gooda odds but sometimes you're lucky. Or you could do a generic search for the subject, like, say, cartoons, fables, animation, ETC.
This totally blew my mind. It's P-E-R-F -E-C-T. Everything about this is so awesome!! If I could hug you and your team, I would! You are an inspiration!
This animation although only six and a half minutes long is a very interesting and different premise, the sinisterness of each other animals fears that Albert the squirrel encounters while looking for his scarf, combined with the child-like animations and storyline are quite amusing. Another aspect that i find works well with this is that although the animation itself is very simplistic and basic, the actual content of the story is very deep and thought provoking especially when Albert meets bear, which is not something i thought would happen when the animation started to play. Not only did this make the animation different to other shorts animation clips but it made the animation very engaging and it kept me listening just out of the sheer fact of how different the language was from the animation style. The story also tells of some truths though, like when Albert meets owl, beaver and fox and helps them all with their unique fears. The part where bear is explaining his fear is quite eye opening as what he is fearful of is a completely rational and unavoidable fear, at the same time he has no control over it which i think just makes bear all the more scared of it. Albert take on his fear saying that it is just the natural way of life and that it will always happen like this is, i feel the main way that people would view this fear, and that because they have no control over it then they shouldn't have to worry about it because what will happen will happen. I think, whether intentional or not, this short animation story has the ability to teach people about things they may not have ever thought about or things they might not have been sure about. I myself although knowing about what bear was scared of have never considered it a fear, although i still don’t i can now see how people could think of that as an actual fear. The only thing i didn't get, and the only thing i think that didn't mix with the story was the ending. The ending was very sudden and there was too much happening all at the same time. Everything else though fit into the story like the story (minus the ending) and the animation style fit very cohesively. All in all, this Animation is a very well designed and well crafted piece of work, its mix of childish style with more advanced ideas and plot are very intriguing and complex, along with the cynical humour makes for a great shot animation story. This animation deserves more views than what it has on RUclips currently as it is a great watch and would recommend this for anyone to watch. Also the narration by George Takei makes it all the better.
Random_ Animator The ending seemed to fit or at least followed the pattern of the other stories; Cecil is no longer afraid of the dark and goes exploring, only to find some rather... unremarkable poo. Conrad tried making his dam as strong as he could, but it still broke, and Edwin I can only assume couldn't handle all the extra friendship. These all seem to show that Albert's solutions seem to be wise, but aren't perfect. The ending certainly has an emotional impact and sticks with the viewer, but maybe it would've been better to let the viewer think deeper on the ideas presented in the video. I don't know. I did like the ending though. Just would like to say also that I am not saying that the ideas presented in this video are correct or not, just that they are worth thinking about.
You lucky RUclips viewers! This is one of my favourite ever animated films. It's looks stunning, but just wait for when the narrative really kicks in... Epic!
w-why does this only have 100,000 views? what the hell! it should at least have 2 million views. i mean this is a brilliant animation and amazing voice acting!
Remember kids Father Nurgle says: You are all going to die, the universe will rot and all things will pass. But that is in the future, and here in the unending now there is work to be done, sights to see and life to enjoy. Always know that Nurgle loves you.
I know this has been uploaded a long time ago, but I just felt like I had to say that this was amazing. All facts I was aware of, but they were given in such a sublime way. Props for everyone who worked on this.
The cool thing about existencial crisis is that eventually you stop caring about them and about everything else, you become free of your fear because death itself isn't a fear anymore and you start to live your life to the fullest completely fearless and caring only about the things that matter to you .... And when you see you're falling from a bridge You jumped because nothing matters anymore
I find quite the opposite. It's a marvel that we exist, it should be cherished - but don't sweat the small stuff. Nothing really matters in the big scope of things.
I think of death as a general anesthetic to spare us from eternity. I've been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.
Dont think death as an punishement, think of it as an right. Think of what life would be if you were immortal? That would be living hell after an while, since life loses it's purpose. Death is simply non-existing. Human brain cannot comprehend non-existing, that's why brain reacts so violently upon the tought of death. Sure, since this is a major cause of fear, people turn into religion. If that makes you feel better, good on you. Everybody and everything will die, we all are on the same boat. Non-existance actually seems bretty good the older you get.
Then there was Jonathan, he had a fear of the infinite... he feared that he would never know peace from this existence. *squirrel hangs itself with scarf* (My best friend as a CHILD was horrified and probably still is horrified of infinite or the loop theory and he inadvertantly gave me a bit of a phobia even though i'm all for infinity and potentially discovering immortality due to not being able to see everything in our sjort span. Anyway... fear of infinity is the real end boss.)
Immortality is a curse Only the fools mortals desire It What will you do when your loved ones dies, when humans die, when all live cease to exist, when the planet die, when the sun die, when the other stars die, when you're the only thing in a dark universe, floating alone, unable to do anything except exist, forever wating the end that will never come, will you still want to be imortal?
1. Transcend the human body 2. Transcend Planet Earth 3. Transcend the Solar System 4. Transcend the Milky Way Galaxy 5. Transcend the universe or thwart its heat death Simple, really.
the reason i fear death is because i dont want this to be it. there has to be more than just the void.i hope there is i pray there is more. sometimes i lay in my bed and think how fast time passes by and im scared of the time im going to die.i just want there to be more than just the void but that is most likely what it is going to be but i guess we all have been in the void until we were born. i just dont want to return to it.
You don't know that the void is the most likely thing to come upon death. That which exceeds the confines of our perception are necessarily imperceptible to us. As such, whatever may or may not come after death is certainly that which we cannot comprehend. The void only seems most likely because we have been duped into thinking that we can know that what it is we perceive now is all that there is which can be perceived. We have particular tools of perception, we do not have them all. For all we know there could be realms of existence with exotic qualities of which we currently can have no knowledge of. That upon death we enter into a state of nonexperience is only one of an infinity of potential results of our bodies relinquishing its grip upon our consciousness. Taken in that context, the possibility that we enter into the void is one of an infinity of possibilities. Do not fear the coming of the night, be brave and virtuous and whatever comes next you will be equipped to handle. This is the wisdom of thousands of years of human effort towards comprehending the meaning of life. Time and time again our cultures come to the conclusion that the purpose of this life is to prepare us for the next. That we must mold our souls into forms which can handle the infinite complexity of that which comes next. Regardless of if you have faith in any particular religious system, the wisdom of that conceptualization of the meaning of life only has a beneficial impact upon your life if you integrate it as the truth it very well could be.
why go on? do it because this is your 100 year window to learn as much as you can about the universe that surrounds you. it is going to fall apart someday too, and you were lucky enough to see it in its prime. fuck everything else. this is your experience. progress now because you CAN still progress. the
a bear and a squirrel just out in the woods causally having a deep philosophical conversation about the inevitable decay and rebirth of the very fabric of existence of the universe. all this to distract you from question-ing why does a bear need a scarf
It's nice that you tried to comfort me with your logic, I just can't help but feel off about something after hearing your comforting words though... Can't really put my finger on it....
The thing is there is no point, there is no meaning other than to be happy that you even get to experience any sort of existence at all. I mean the chances that you get to be alive in your human form with awareness of your existence is infinitesimally small, you might as well enjoy it, and help others enjoy it as well.
I don't fear death or non-existance but this video gave me a thought. Because it's true what the bear says. Everything we do, everything we accomplish will be destroyed and meaningless in the end. We humans wish that the history of our species will last on forever and that our technical advancements grow exponentially. But that just isn't the case. It is so frustrating to know that no matter how far humanity comes, everything will be deleted in the heat death of our universe. Nothing will be left of us. Nothing we created will live on in some way. Nobody will remember us. There won't be the slightest hint of our existance. In this way, we are in fact, on a linear path to oblivion.
Why people get so hung up about their own inevitable deaths they freak out. Just because something ends doesn't mean it's pointless. Those people are little children crying over their ice melting instead of eating it.
Came for the cool animation, stayed for the existential crisis
but when does the existential crisis end? WHEN?!?

You have to see when Albert finishes helping them the animals died the beaver fell into the damn and died the Fox commuted suicide because no one accepted him and Fredrick died from an asteroid. Which means all the animals fears were correct
i dont quite agree with what you are sayin
their fears didnt end up being "correct"
albert never told them that their fears were stupid or unjustified
he always just gave them lessons to overcome their fears
either by showing them how important the thing they were afraid of is (the owl, the beaver, the bear)
or by showing them what to change to better fight their fear (the fox)
he simply explained that, whatever they were afraid off, should not be avoided
the fear of darkness:
the owl is scared of the unknown, albert explains the unknown is important for, if everything is known, you cant expand your knowledge and discovery is lost
and in that way, darkness is just a big collection of things to find out
the irony is the fact that he didnt discover anything cool in the darkness, just shit
the fear of failure:
the beaver couldnt get his mind of the thought that maybe his damn would break because it was too weak
albert explained that the road to success is filled with failure, and in that way, each time you fail, success becomes more likely
this eased the beaver into simply doing his best, if it failed, he would try it again and improve whatever failed him
the irony here is the fact that he couldnt improve on his works failure because said failure killed him
fear of loneliness:
the fox thought his friends didnt really like him
albert explained to him that this sense of isolation could easily have been self inflicted
because, if you feel like people dont like you, you wont open up to them, whichin turn never gives them the chance to form a meaningful and love filled relationship with you
albert explained that he should open up, that way he could prove to himself that they did like him
the irony here is probably in the wording "he would never let his fears seperate them again" just as he seems to randomly die, causing death to seperate them
fear of meaningslesness: (< i dont have a better name for it)
to translate the whole dialogue into something remarkably easy to grasp
the bear doesnt know why he should do anything if the universe will end eventually anyway, it is ultimately all meaningless
albert explains to the bear that this is neccessary
to quote the narator "from death comes life"
albert explains that the bear is not set on a "linear path to oblivion" but that he is helping in the continuation of the universe
it is all a matter of perspective, not all is bad, not all is meaningless
the irony here being how unfitting and dramatic the whole monologue is, on bith ends
the nightmare scene afterwards is simply the cherry on top to that joke
the lessons told by albert are valuable, the animation tries to get laughter out of us by making it all crumble down infront of our eyes
sorry for the wall of text but i felt like i had something to say
again sorry

When you shake it only a few random things get out, so you hafta shake it many time to perchance get a gem, gift, spark of goodness. Not too gooda odds but sometimes you're lucky.
Or you could do a generic search for the subject, like, say, cartoons, fables, animation, ETC.
This totally blew my mind. It's P-E-R-F -E-C-T. Everything about this is so awesome!! If I could hug you and your team, I would! You are an inspiration!
This was so inspirational, until 5:33, then it took on a whole new fucking meaning. 10/10 thank you for this beauty.

Some paragraphs please.................
Really awesome animation & narrative, just really great! Why this doesn't have more views I don't understand
As i am thinking about what Frederick said it makes more and more sense.
I'm so happy I've found this, I've been searching for this ever since it came out. Thank you!
I don't know why this doesn't have more views. Masterfully animated, really well done!
Remember kids Father Nurgle says:
You are all going to die, the universe will rot and all things will pass. But that is in the future, and here in the unending now there is work to be done, sights to see and life to enjoy. Always know that Nurgle loves you.
This is beautiful. Love the message, music and animation. I'm surprised it doesn't have more views!
I just watched this student film as part of my animation class in college. This is beautiful
That moment when you gain some hope about the universe then remember expansion and entropy
Well, that escalated quickly
Nothing makes me cry. Nothing except that bear.
I know this has been uploaded a long time ago, but I just felt like I had to say that this was amazing. All facts I was aware of, but they were given in such a sublime way. Props for everyone who worked on this.
The fear of nothing is similar to how I view the universe. Though, in my case, it is not fear. The thought makes me happy and content.

Bazooka Yoshi
Fedora? Why would I wear something so reprehensible?
I think something similar, Nothingness truly is peace. Don't listen to Bazooka, clearly a angered religion goer
You must watch rick and morty
Well I don't get it, but I'll respect your opinions nonetheless
this deserves more recognition
The cool thing about existencial crisis is that eventually you stop caring about them and about everything else, you become free of your fear because death itself isn't a fear anymore and you start to live your life to the fullest completely fearless and caring only about the things that matter to you ....
And when you see you're falling from a bridge
You jumped because nothing matters anymore
I find quite the opposite. It's a marvel that we exist, it should be cherished - but don't sweat the small stuff. Nothing really matters in the big scope of things.
Truly a work of art
Just saw this at the No Gloss festival, it was my favorite film out of everything I saw there. Brilliant work mate ☺ .........said the bear.
I think this short changed my life
One heck of an ending, love it.

More people need to see this
Man, I started to fear death at 16. Thanks to this I couldn´t sleep last night
I learned to no longer fear death a while back.
Baron Von Maggotron That way explained helped me. Thanks
Im genuinely glad, if i i helped you :)
Wow i did not see that ending coming but what a fantastic animation
Nothing can help Frederick at this point
Then there was Jonathan, he had a fear of the infinite... he feared that he would never know peace from this existence. *squirrel hangs itself with scarf* (My best friend as a CHILD was horrified and probably still is horrified of infinite or the loop theory and he inadvertantly gave me a bit of a phobia even though i'm all for infinity and potentially discovering immortality due to not being able to see everything in our sjort span. Anyway... fear of infinity is the real end boss.)
Immortality is a curse
Only the fools mortals desire It
What will you do when your loved ones dies, when humans die, when all live cease to exist, when the planet die, when the sun die, when the other stars die, when you're the only thing in a dark universe, floating alone, unable to do anything except exist, forever wating the end that will never come, will you still want to be imortal?
This video contains a very powerful and true message
"Bubblun is One of the Dragons in the Bubble Bobble Dimension." Said the Bear
5:56 that translation gizmo though
Still coming back
best story ever
Stellar.
that's was cool in like a trippy kinda way
1. Transcend the human body
2. Transcend Planet Earth
3. Transcend the Solar System
4. Transcend the Milky Way Galaxy
5. Transcend the universe or thwart its heat death
Simple, really.
This made my day!
the reason i fear death is because i dont want this to be it. there has to be more than just the void.i hope there is i pray there is more. sometimes i lay in my bed and think how fast time passes by and im scared of the time im going to die.i just want there to be more than just the void but that is most likely what it is going to be but i guess we all have been in the void until we were born. i just dont want to return to it.
@@Shigan4059 thanks you are actually making me think about things a little and you helped me be a little less afraid thank you
And such is LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!
ART!
Hahaha
Amazing work !!
Looking forward to see a lot more of it.
Cheers
why go on? do it because this is your 100 year window to learn as much as you can about the universe that surrounds you. it is going to fall apart someday too, and you were lucky enough to see it in its prime. fuck everything else. this is your experience. progress now because you CAN still progress. the
It kind of has that animation style of that show Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
The bear and I think much alike.
yeah sure you pretentious toffee
a bear and a squirrel just out in the woods causally having a deep philosophical conversation about the inevitable decay and rebirth of the very fabric of existence of the universe. all this to distract you from question-ing why does a bear need a scarf
this deserves so much views ..
this was good nuff said
also 420 blazeit skrubs and dont be a nugger
It's nice that you tried to comfort me with your logic, I just can't help but feel off about something after hearing your comforting words though... Can't really put my finger on it....
maybe because it's not comforting at all
Dopamine Cloud Ah yes... That's it. Thanks. I don't think I would've spotted that.
*****
no problem, I don't work for free though
Dopamine Cloud I can pay you in comforting words that lack comfort but that's about it.
Nothing Wrong here Good idea. I like that idea.
Fredrick embodies my everyday cruel life as a skeptic/athiest...

Still my favorite video ever made
Holy maple that was amazing
Brilliant.
Why people get so hung up about their own inevitable deaths they freak out. Just because something ends doesn't mean it's pointless. Those people are little children crying over their ice melting instead of eating it.
Still a good one.
Watching this now and I'm starting to see what the bear was afraid of.
So well done and so thought provoking
Good God, that is deep.
Who are you? Why are your animations so good? And why do you only have 1177 Subscribers?
I relate to Edwin so much.
OH YAY GEORGE TAKEI NARRATED THIS!!!
holy shit Frederick, thats deep
