I watched so many videos related to this But when i saw this video then it was the solution of my problem. The method is tricky. I did it wrong for a couple of times. Then i watched the video again and again. And i correct my mistake 😊 thankyou soooooooo much for making this video. You are a life saver 😂
I wish the tutorial worked for me... he says "left-click" at 0:50, but there's no left-click on a Macbook, so not sure how to proceed. And at 1:04, he also says to "lock the image", but doesn't say how he did that, he just says that he did it. Totally confused.
I was SO excited when I found this video. I followed it to the T, but I still feel like I'm doing something wrong because a grey background still shows up. I just want to remove a background from a photo of myself and add a white outline. Any thoughts?
If you have Photoshop it may be easier. This you would have to add a mask and then use pen tool to trace the white outline. Also remove.bg can cut out backgrounds for you
OK. So this is really more for just adding backgrounds to existing images. Do you think you could come up with a video on how to set up FB/IG images sizes through Illustrator? I am trying to be savvy about what subscriptions I pay for, and am trying to learn how to do canva pro actions within Illustrator.@@JeremyMuradesign
I was wondering how you do this without an artboard or white background. I am trying to save a photo of a bird but without the white background of the artboard.
Shot for the video mate... One problem though, when saving my file as pdf, the masked image still appears with original background in the pdf view. Do you know how to fix this by any chance ?
When I click make mask the whole image disappears and in the transparency options the first box shows the image and second box is black, but I have a blank screen with white artboard in the background.
Can someone answer me plz, I'm a beginner in illustration and Photoshop, I have a graphic design now that I downloaded and I want to remove the background, I tried every single way in Photoshop, but it didn't work then I found out they used illustration for making the design, does this mean I can remove the background with illustration too?
You can remove the background my making a SELECTION with the PEN TOOL in photoshop or using the select menu and selecting the background. I have a few other videos on my channel bro that shows you!
bro, its a complex image, Im not going to trace over the image. my background is white. I dont see why I cant just select the white like in photoshop and hit delete.
It's about showing options man obviously PS crushes AI in certain areas. Vector mask is way easier in PS, illustrator has masking but you gotta do it within that transparency panel.
At 0:50 he says to "left-click" on the menu, but there is no "left-click" on a MacBook Pro, so the rest of the tutorial doesn't work. Then, at 1:04, he says he'll "lock the image for now", but doesn't explain how he did that, how a lock is made, or why. Then, at 2:07, he's using the "swatch" panel, but the entire swatch panel is nowhere to be seen on my version of Illustrator (2022, 26.3.1). I give up. Trying to follow this video is impossible, I've spent about an hour trying to figure it out, watched it 4 times and I am so, utterly and completely confused as to how to remove a background.
same problem. i did all the steps then after selecting mask the image did cut out but it didn't have the colours as before.. it seems like it's opacity was lessened but the opacity is 100% :((

Straight to the point how to tutorial. Thank you! At first it didn't work for me because I didn't create an additional layer. Works now!
Awesome man glad you liked it thanks for the comment!

Can you explain the layers and what not? I've made the outline with pen, but mask doesn't work because I'm not sure which layer to be in
Layers do not matter when it comes to making a mask. You have to click 'make mask' in transparency window.
Great stuff Buddy! Probably easiest tutorial I ever had!
Wow thanks buddy means a lot, I try to keep it simple!
Thanks a lot!
anytime!
thanks , you solved my problem😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
awesome shivam!!
Really useful ✌🏻 Never knew about using the direct selection tool to move points of the mask.
Such a good trick! Thanks Amit!
jhoot bolna eh
Thank you so much! Question: how do you lock/unlock?
CTRL/CMD + 2 to lock. Ctrl/cmd + shift + 2 to unlock
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
this was helpful thank you! Any reason why the image comes out a lot less vibrant after making mask for me?
If the colour on mask is grey it will make it less bright make sure it's white
Awesome video!
Thanks Vishal!
the image gets a transparent color of the clip feature for me... so frustrating
hmm check your preferences CTRL + K
hmm unlock background, great if you know how!!
CTRL + SHIFT + 2 TO UNLOCK. To lock CTRL + 2
Followed your video click by click and my mask made a shape and would never separate the image. Good job! 🙄
Oh really gotta maek suer the right things are selected mate.
how to change the color of the img after mask.??
Noti gang
thanks lol
*useful tips*
Glad you liked it
why do i get only the outline?
invert the mask maybem can you rephrase?
I follow the instructions multiple times and for some reason, I remove the background, but the image remains solid white.
Click invert mask
how to select both to make mask?
HOLD SHIFT AND LEFT CLICK
Hey dude, how do you unlock the background image ??
CTRL + SHIFT + 2
I was wondering how you do this without an artboard or white background. I am trying to save a photo of a bird but without the white background of the artboard.
EXPORT AS A PNG don't put any shape or background behind it and it should save as a transparent image.
ive done all this, in the transparency window i now see the white cutout on the left, with a black square on the right, what did i do worng?
Invert or clip the mask?
Is unsplash has not copyright issues?
NO ISSUES
Shot for the video mate... One problem though, when saving my file as pdf, the masked image still appears with original background in the pdf view. Do you know how to fix this by any chance ?
Hmm you need to save transparency check the export settings. I would try to export JPEG or PNG instead of PDF should work.
Can this process be used on the iPad version?
Not sure haven't usd the ipad version in years. Most likely it would have masks like thats a basic feature.
Followed along and now my object is transparent. Any tips?
Check the mask make sure you flip the black and white shape.
what if i want to cut out the axe and use the background , how do i do that ?
Click inverse on the mask and you can do it
When I click make mask the whole image disappears and in the transparency options the first box shows the image and second box is black, but I have a blank screen with white artboard in the background.
Figured it out. To anyone with the same issue, you need to fill the shape white, having no fill won't work.
Yes WHITE reveals BLACK hides good job!
Very cool tutorial, would you rather do it in Illustrator then in Photoshop?
Would love to hear your opinion on that 😁
Thanks my friend, do it in illustrator if it's something basic or quick. But if it's detailed people and hair then 100% go photoshop.
Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
Can I follow this process with a video?
Yes
i have watched this like 10 times and only just realized there is a face cam in the corner lol
HAHAH yeh in this video accidentally made it too small
Mine turns white when I click make mask. How do I fix this?
Just paint it black or make a black square and put it on the mask
Why does this not work when i do it?
Make sure you select thr write object, and make sure the shape is thr rightg color in the mask.
How do you unlock the mask? Tutorial is not clear.
CTRL + SHIFT + 2
Why to do it when there's auto select subject in Photoshop...
Because we got options. UIse photshop is you can.
you dont show how to unclock the image tho
Unclock? Unlock? Ctrl+ shift +2

It's not Photoshop bro lol stick to PS for that.
when i do make mask it disappears
Yes because you have to adjust mark remember BLACK HIDES and WHITE REVEALS so make sure you add a coloured shaped in the mask section.
Trying to do this not working
What part is not working?
Litt🔥🔥🔥
THANK YOU!!
Why go through all that when adobe PS can do it in a tenth of the time and then import the image to Ai as PNG
Am just frustrated I am unable to do the same on Ai
It's about showing options man obviously PS crushes AI in certain areas. Vector mask is way easier in PS, illustrator has masking but you gotta do it within that transparency panel.
How do you lock it?

Gud explanation.. @start..later u make it so complicated n confusing
lol thanks
what is that X ?
X is the sweet spot between Y and Z.
@@JeremyMuradesign wtf !?
@@autumn-man hahah
@@autumn-man ask a proper question can you clarify what you meant
at the begining the image has a X , why is that ?
At 0:50 he says to "left-click" on the menu, but there is no "left-click" on a MacBook Pro, so the rest of the tutorial doesn't work. Then, at 1:04, he says he'll "lock the image for now", but doesn't explain how he did that, how a lock is made, or why. 1.Get a PC, 2. CMD +2, 3. Window > Swatches, 4. You literally just go to Transpareny panel and mask it's just like photoshop Black = hide white =show.
can u pls write down the steps in ur description=
Create shape > mask literally lol
Everything was working, but then the masked part became sort of transparent, not the same color. Does anyone know why?

Fixed it! You have to change the cutout color to white

Let's Gooooo. He is using Unsplash
Let's go! bro everyone uses unsplash haha
really cant catch up
Slow down the video?
dont know how to use the pencil tool
Pencil is just drawing on screen it's simple but it's more for sketching or illustrations.
That did not work at all. I literally tried it on 2 separate artboards following it step by step
Are you using an old version? did you close the path? You have to close the path so it becomes a shape
It’s not working
Can you give more details? You need to select the mask make sure you click on it
