The case is a day case, or lunch in the city case. Sometimes they are lined, but more likely one put a Chinese silk change purse in, with the case being armor for the silk on a bustling train.
I love your accessories addiction it’s something I love to see when you do hauls. Those jeans looked so cute on you once you break them in I bet they will be a staple, I also loved the hat you showed it really suited you xx
Oh the lucite and metal purse brings back memories! My grandma had a huge collection of such purses that she always wore when she went to square dancing each Saturday night with grandpa. They would come over after the dance and we’d all play cards. This would have been in the early 1970s. Love your videos Bianca!!
That bandana print would be pretty cute with chunky ric rac accents. Like if you did a white collar on the dress with the colours in the dress in ric rac around the edge
Chartreuse, try getting a copper pot from the thrift store. And heat vinegar, put a natural wool or cotton, silk in the pot for a few hours. The copper will dye the fabric green. Try a small swatch, see what you think.
This again was fun ...love the things you brought to show us .....i prefer you in your lovely dresses @skirts you remind me of my mother in the 50's she always looked so glamorous ...with your dak hair @ makeup ...that was the decade when you would not go out the house less than perfect .. .@ i always try to do this ...but it takes time ..# energy ...lol♡
Be careful with the black denim. It may stretch out ,slightly, with wear but when you wash them they'll return to the regional size.Much better to go up a size and have to alter.Loved the glasses
Thank you Maureen! Unfortunately with jeans this expensive, having to get them tailored on top of the price would have put them out of budget for me for sure! I'm not worried about them after reading the reviews from other buyers, and as I plan to get a bit healthier this fall...that might also help me out with the fit a bit ;)
Thank you Chae! Well that was fast then! There are more similar ones from Asos and on Amazon too, so have a look around as luckily they are in style this year :)
TheClosetHistorian + Chae Howard - Keep checking, ASOS as well as many other sites often restock on popular items or you can add your name for an alert when back in stock. Good luck! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇🦋
Oh I love the top as well as the jewellery you are wearing. wonderful how the bronze tone of the blouse goes with the bronze accents of the necklace and the earrings!!! Also love the accessories, esp. the scarves. You cannot have enough scarves :D
First, you rock that outfit and jewelry!!! I love your look.....I am blonde and pale....but with freckles and such. I love that clear complexion you have and how great you look in red lipstick and the black eyeliner! I caught the shoes in the last part of the video....love the color and are they springolators? I think the shades look good on you too.....and the ones with the gradient lenses was so much like a pair my aunt wore in the 60s.....the bitty rhinestones just put the icing on the cake for me. Thanks for sharing your finds....I love videos like this.
Thank you Sharon! The shoes are not real springolators, just an inexpensive pair of fun mules I picked up at TJ Maxx a few years ago. I promise my complexion is far from clear a lot of the time, but my skin has been better ever since I discovered the magic of tea tree oil a while back ;)
Oo, love those jeans doll. I have a nightmare with jeans...I have a small waist/ large butt & thighs. Interested in trying this brand!😘 Those sunnies are super cool too! Xxx
I have a 12 inch difference between my waist and hip measurement and these jeans have zero gaping at the back waist! Definitely worth trying I'd say :)
I didn't even know I cared about black jeans but oh, boy! those are beautiful! I'm in the mindset of buying less and more consciously, the perfect staple jeans is worth a thousand cheap ill fitting ones. I bought a lot of florals this summer, I guess I'm having a bit of a tiki phase? It's rather odd for me. Truth is I'm already sewing wool stuff (thanks AC!) I can't wait for Autumn to come. Btw my favourite thing in your haul might be the rainbow fabric! Can't wait to see the final result.
I too am trying to shop more consciously whenever I buy "new" items like denim or even basics. Also florals are always good, I totally understand! I am already starting to plan for fall too, though when it comes to sewing I have barely made a start on what I wanted to sew for summer... so I need to regroup entirely on that front!
Great finds as usual, my fave are probably the glasses. Tortoise shell design is my crack xD I'm really curious to see the multicolor dress, the white/black one is one of my favorite things you made ;)
Lovely as always! love how you're so thrifty but your style is incredible, I need to take lessons from you cause my wallet is weeping! lol. There's something about this red lip that suits you so well and I'm loving the thicker brows on you.
Thank you Noura! I could certainly stand to be even more thrifty...It's more out of necessity, there are a lot of pricier items I'd love to get my hand on, but I need to win the lottery first ;)
I feel you. I'm big on 40s everything and that tends to be expensive which sometimes makes me wish I was more into later decades. What red lipstick are you wearing in this video? It has the perfect amount of warmth without being orange. I shy away from warm reds cause I'm afraid they'll make my teeth look yellow
Hiya! Just found your channel & subbed. The hat is a fab alternative! I have an original & it’s so close (paid 🥜 too many decades ago to recall when), may get one as I’m afraid I’ll lose mine in a breeze catching the wide brim. 99.9% sure the handbag is still considered a “box bag” the lucite, metal ones never saw a lining (leather ones, plastic basket weave do have linings), it’s gorge! As is all else you found! I have far too much antique/vintage clothing, over 45 years collecting & selling. Really have to get strong & sell again. It’s everywhere, housewares, furniture, linens, don’t get me started on accessories, ack shoes! But it’s been quite dried up here for almost 2 decades. Only time I find anything vintage is at the rare garage/estate sale but pricing can be crazy, more than retail! (Family run ones are better quality, realistic prices.) Cheers! Jet🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇🦋
Thank you! It's good to know my "new" box bag isn't missing a liner. Finding vintage in the wild is indeed next to impossible these days. I can't wait for the day I can expand into housewares too :)
TheClosetHistorian - Housewares can still be easily found (I’m overfull!) try estate & garage sales for best prices. Unless you have realistically priced thrift stores. The Goodwill pushed out all our great charity shops, way too overpriced! (Disgusting crusty Pyrex that’s been through the dishwasher starts at $15 for a small, common mixing bowl🤬!) J. 😘
I still have to wait until I have a house to fill sadly, but I look forward to a cabinet full of lovely midcentury bar glassware and patterned pyrex one day :)
(O.O) Oh my goodness. That lip color is LIFE. New to your channel and I'm LOVING your explanations and in-depths knowledge of vintage aesthetics. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
I’m personally really scared of online shopping as I’ve never done it before. The range of things available is just too intimidating. How do I start? Wonderful video as always, I really like to have your videos playing on the backround when I knit.
Thank you! Hmm, I suppose I'm always search for something quite specific, and I'm never afraid to do the digital equivalent of rummaging through a thrift shop-- scrolling through many pages of things-- to find what I'm looking for. Say I'm on the hunt for a navy blue 1950's handbag, well I'll type "navy 1950s" into the etsy search bar and then use the options on the side bar to narrow down to "Bags & Purses", and select "Vintage", and then from the drop down above the items I will select "Most Recent". Since I shop rather strategically, almost always looking for specific things like this, I suppose it keeps me focused. I have had very few "bad" experiences with Etsy sellers. I have never once not received something, and usually the only "bad" thing that happens is that they can't find the item and end up refunding me. You can read reviews others have left for the individual shop to feel more comfortable shopping with them too. It's easier to shop online for jewelry and accessories too of course because fit it less of an issue.
TheClosetHistorian True. Only 6 weeks until fall. But it might be still warm enough to wear it a few times. But your new straw purse would match it very well I think
You have such lovely vintage silk scarves. If you don't mind me asking, how do you clean them? I recently picked up some charming ones at an estate sale, only to realize when I got them home that I had no idea how to clean them. Do you dry clean them? I'm under the impression that you shouldn't wash most silks. I'd appreciate any advice.
Thank you Andy! As I have been mostly getting my scarves through Etsy sellers who specialize in selling scarves, they come cleaned usually, and they say they hand wash them. While getting silks wet is indeed always a risk, I usually hand wash scarves I pick up out thrifting with a small amount of mild soap and cooler water and then put them on a towel or outside to dry. I haven't had one color bleed or get water spots yet, but I know it is a risk! Then I just iron them on a gentle setting before adding them to my closet.
Thank you! It is certainly not flawless in reality I assure you, I have rather acne prone skin. I use Mac studio fix fluid foundation though I wish I could find something else I like instead!
Thank you Josephine! This lipstick is the shade "ribbon" from Colourpop, which was part of their Hello Kitty collaboration a while ago, so I'm not sure if it is still available! It's my favorite so I'm bummed it was a temporary release!
My apologies! There is a sound system on the other side of that wall that has enough bass it moves my frames, so I am constantly having to fix them after people watch loud things ;)
I have most of my silk scarves in/on a hanger like this one bit.ly/2nwklz6 . Then the more fragile ones I keep folded in a drawer, and the bulkier warm fall/winter scarves get a drawer too. You can kinda see some of my scarf storage in my closet tour video :)
The case is a day case, or lunch in the city case. Sometimes they are lined, but more likely one put a Chinese silk change purse in, with the case being armor for the silk on a bustling train.
The brown cat eyeglasses go perfect with the dress you are wearing in this video.
I love your accessories addiction it’s something I love to see when you do hauls. Those jeans looked so cute on you once you break them in I bet they will be a staple, I also loved the hat you showed it really suited you xx
Thank you!
Nice haul! What a lovely purse your grandparents bought you. The pink and black scarf is my favorite. TFS.
Thank you!
Oh the lucite and metal purse brings back memories! My grandma had a huge collection of such purses that she always wore when she went to square dancing each Saturday night with grandpa. They would come over after the dance and we’d all play cards. This would have been in the early 1970s. Love your videos Bianca!!
Thank you Brenda! That sounds like such a lovely memory :)
That bandana print would be pretty cute with chunky ric rac accents. Like if you did a white collar on the dress with the colours in the dress in ric rac around the edge
"that's kind of queer of me" me @ literally everything I do lmao
I love the pink purse and the one from your grandparents. I learn a lot from your videos. tfs
Thank you that is so lovely to hear!
every time i happen to glance at your sub count im shocked, your videos are such quality and you are so polished in your style
Thank you so much! I hope to continue to get better, I know I still talk too fast ;)
Cute outfit! *Love the sunnies, especially the tortoise ones..and LOVE the purse from your grandparents!!!
Thank you!
Dharma Trading company has lots of dye-able silk available, you should totally make a chartreuse scarf!
I am getting desperate so I may just have to!
I also adore these types of scarves...I just purchased a silk scarf with a map of Bermuda on it! Such 50’s beach babe vibes!
Love the pink bag. Super cute!
Thank you!
Chartreuse, try getting a copper pot from the thrift store. And heat vinegar, put a natural wool or cotton, silk in the pot for a few hours. The copper will dye the fabric green. Try a small swatch, see what you think.
I just learned how to do a rolled hem on delicate fabrics. I think I'm also going to start making silk scarves. Life = changed!
Thank you Henrietta!
Love all your finds as usual...and the look you are wearing, just fab, those colours and the print...love them

Super cute fabric.
LOVEEE the pink purse !! It’s stunning
Think of scarf as the 1950/,1960 bad girl look . Most of the those older movie I see bad girls wear .
Same here, and sometime I guess I don't mind a bad girl vibe ;)
Those ASOS sunglasses are stunning but alas they are sold out. The anguish! Great video regardless.
Thank you Chae! Well that was fast then! There are more similar ones from Asos and on Amazon too, so have a look around as luckily they are in style this year :)

Thank you for your video, I bought the third pair of glasses and a cute dress 40'sstyle super cute. Thanks
Glad you found a few things! I'm spreading my accessory addiction to others :)
Love the flashy cat eye glasses.
Thank you!

Love the sunglasses on you! :) Not everyone can wear the cat eye style! They all look great! But, like the last pair you tried the very best :)
Thank you!
adorable bags
eeeee, the first hat is totally exciting!
I looove those hats! I'm so glad I picked them up :)
Thank you for sharing!
Freddie of pinewood are awesome for jeans . Yes a little pricey. I get my mostly around taxes times .
I really want to give them a try!
You want true high waisted jean . They are ones you want buy from .
You look fabulous as usual! I love this video. 💛
Thank you!
Please show us how to use hatpins with different shaped hats. :) I need the tutorial so bad!

Thank you! I need to make it soon before summer ends!
TheClosetHistorian True. Only 6 weeks until fall. But it might be still warm enough to wear it a few times. But your new straw purse would match it very well I think
It stays relatively hot through October here, so I'll still get to wear it a few times as long as I get started soon! :)

TheClosetHistorian , oops, actually my name is Joie. I was just borrowing my husband's tablet. Thank you so much for the tips. l'l give that a try.
recently found 100% silk scarf large sizes "blanks" to dye yourself craft shops and also amazon I think
Definitely a good option!
An update for those wondering...the 18th century hats are now $42 to $44.
love your idea's, by the way ,your skin is flawless, tell me what your foundation is
Thank you! It is certainly not flawless in reality I assure you, I have rather acne prone skin. I use Mac studio fix fluid foundation though I wish I could find something else I like instead!
What lipstick are you wearing in this video? I'm looking for a good deep red like that, so pretty! ❤️
Thank you Josephine! This lipstick is the shade "ribbon" from Colourpop, which was part of their Hello Kitty collaboration a while ago, so I'm not sure if it is still available! It's my favorite so I'm bummed it was a temporary release!
TheClosetHistorian darn I hate that! My favorite eye shadow was part of a collaboration and I was never able to find it again ☹️
that crooked picture is killing me.
My apologies! There is a sound system on the other side of that wall that has enough bass it moves my frames, so I am constantly having to fix them after people watch loud things ;)
Lovely room and video.... comment more about MY issues....TY. I see in other videos its fine, whew,
How do your store your scarfs? I also have a scarf obsession (addiction) and it gets overwhelming at times 😭
Ah, I have all of mine folded in a drawer, but it gets messy real fast xp might need to invest in a hanger
I have a drawer and I kind of donut them, like I wrap them around my hand and then pull the end through a little
Do you own any Hermes scarves?
Alas I do not! For proper designer scarves I prefer Alexander McQueen 🖤
Holy fast talking! Haha breathe love!
How do you keep the small head straw hats on!?
Hat pins! I have a video coming very soon :)
I like your boldness sister!
The 1940s had the most beautiful women's clothes and hair styles.
any time you wash those jeans they will be tight again. true denim is just like that.
I will endeavor to not get them dirty often ;) And eat less cookies so they will fit better, if I can manage!
no pants are worth passing up cookies.
This is very true :)
A tentative first...
Not only first, but also I believe this is the first time someone has ever commented "first" on one of my videos ;)
TheClosetHistorian haha, possibly my first time commenting it anywhere. Incredible video as always, love, lol
Thank you!
