Sometimes submitting a credit card application can be a nerve-wracking task. But I will explain rules and other tips you should know about to make you feel more confident.
It is well known that getting your first Chase credit card is always the hardest. Not only do I want you to get approved for your first Chase credit card, I want you to have no problem getting any Chase card. But once you get your first card with them, the rest usually come a lot easier.
For your first Chase credit card focus on these 2 things:
    - Credit Score
    - Length of Credit History
These 2 factors are some of the main reasons why people get rejected on their first credit card application with Chase. Ideally, you should have a solid credit score all of the time. But before you apply for a Chase credit card, make sure your credit score is 680 or higher.
You can see how to easily increase your credit score here:
    • How to INCREASE Your C...
Your credit history length is the trickier factor of the two. One way to increase your credit history length is to become an authorized user on someone else's credit card account. The more reliable and effective way of increasing your credit history length is to get another credit card under your own name. I would suggest getting 1 or 2 credit cards outside of Chase BEFORE applying for a Chase credit card. I would recommend holding this credit card for 3 - 9 months before applying for the Chase credit card.
On top of those two factors you will need to remember the following Chase application rules to help keep getting those Chase approvals.
    - 5/24 Rule
    - 2/30 Rule
    - Chase Business Credit Card Rule
    - Sapphire 48 Month Rule
    - One Sapphire Rule

I applied for probably my final chase card, decided to get the Chase Flex (happy I did, the next category for quarter is gasoline)
Also thanks to getting that card I think it finally put me on the road to get the Amex platinum since I guess I have a lot of credit utilization and maybe some new requirement I didn’t have before
I logged in Credit karma and it said I had an outstanding chance now compared to before which I wasn’t even getting a good approval rate
Not sure if that means it’s sure fire or good chances but so far I’m happy I got the chase trifecta

Great video Chase! I agree with you when it comes to valuing Chase points over Amex points. They are both great programs, but the flexibility of using Chase cards in combination with their awesome travel partners makes their points really powerful. I started with Chase in my credit card journey and I think having the freedom student as my first card really helped me down the line when I applied for the CFU and the CSP. Now I'm hoping I can get approved for their business cards come January.

    • @ChaseYokoyama
      @ChaseYokoyama  7 месяцев назад

around 700+ is good. but sometimes scores like 670 have been approved. for Chase, credit history and length seems to be more important. For example, if you dont have a credit card but ur credit score is 750, you'll still probably get rejected. They like seeing a history before accepting you. so having another card before like the Discover it for 3 - 6 months then applying for a chase card is better.

Let me guess, 5/24, 2/30, Chase is the best ever, 1 Sapphire card Chase points are the greatest. Now let me watch the video to see how close I am

I disagree and think people should stop applying for chase cards ,, there is no rule saying you have to get a chase card . Don’t apply and that stupid rule will go away. It’s like people buying Tesla cars with it’s terrible quality issues and complaining.. if people stop buying Tesla cars for about a month Elon musk would do something about it , same with Apple products

Interesting take 🤔 Not sure how many people would have to stop applying for Chase cards for this to work. And I wonder if they would adjust other policies, or card offers first before touching the 5/24 rule.

In my wallet I have discover it, Apple Card, and just got the Amex gold. Working on the Amex bonus right now but I do want to add a chase card after I finish my minimum spend, preferably a Visa to pay at Costco. Would you recommend Freedom unlimited or CSP first?

I would say get the CFU first since the CSP doesn't have a great SUB right now of just 60,000 points. Also if you get gas at Costco, you can use the 5% SUB bonus for gas stations purchases on the CFU for the first year.

@@ChaseYokoyama that sounds like a good plan, I’ll go for the CFU first while until they raise up the bonus on the csp! I wanted to dip into chase while I’m still under 5/24 before i went for any other Amex. Thank you sir!
