I was denied for the Chase Freedom Flex at first, but after I called the reconsideration line, I moved some of my credit limits around and was approved.
When I applied for the Chase Freedom Unlimited I was initially denied. I had only had one credit card with a low limit that I had accidentally maxed out once. I called the reconsideration line and they told me that my available credit was too low for the card. I asked if I could have a lower credit limit and they approved my application. Ask and you shall receive (within reason of course).
Everything Daniel said here is true. I definitely emphasize calling the reconsideration line if you're denied, particularly if you have followed the steps listed in this video. I've been denied for all three Chase cards I've applied for initially. In my case, the computer algorithm didn't like me for whatever reason, but explaining my situation to a person resulted in me getting approved each time. The representative can have insights that the algorithm may miss and each time, I got the impression that they want to help you out, as long as you can show you're safe to lend to. Of course your mileage may vary, but definitely give them a call if you get denied.
Just got my first Chase card! Lets go, went from a 590 in April to a 748 mid July. I knew I would get approved, still super stoked! Will probably be getting more cards later on
Got denied for both basic citi cards but had seen your videos months before to have the reconsideration line in my back pocket, ended up getting approved for both with little to no persuasion. Thanks! (For reference, these were over the last eight months not both just now haha)
I just got my approved for my 3rd card this year, I got the Chase Freedom Unlimited. Didn't get instantly approved. So I called the reconsideration line a few weeks later and got approved. This is my first year building credit so far I have the Discover it, Amex Blue Cash and now the CFU. Next is wait 6 months to a year and apply for Amex Gold or the Chase Sapphire Preferred. 👍Thanks for the videos super helpful !
I'm soon to be 24 with seven credit cards with a 2.5 years of average age. I've never been denied but you better bet I'm calling reconsideration line if I ever get denied lol. All the hard work and discipline I've put in with my cards to keep a high score (high 700's), my ego just wouldn't let me let it pass... I'm done with credit cards aplication for now, last card I applied was November last year. I have the cash back cards I needed (both Freedoms, Custom Cash, Discover It, US Bank Cash Plus, Amazon Prime...) just want my average age to grow 💪🏾
@@CheekyBird790 Not to mention that in a lot of ways the Platinum Card has more bang for your buck in terms of rewards imo. The Platinum Card racks up points quicker vs the paltry 1x points (or 1.5 if the purchase is larger than $5,000) that the Centurion can provide, and the complimentary benefits that you get with Centurion, while nice, aren't worth it for the price you have to pay for it unless if you are already filthy rich. And if you already have that level of money, why are you renting from Hertz anyways?
Hey there! First things first, you probably can't even imagine how much you're helping other people with your videos. The quality is good, as is the information. Now, I do like the content you make, and as an American you only know how things work in America, but is the (general, non-US-specific information) true for other countries as well? If not, do you know of any way to get reliable and easy to understand info about all that?
I turned 18 May 26th, and was afraid of credit cards and credit scores. Though thanks to your videos I applied for my first credit card on May 31st after binge watching your channel, I decided to apply for the Chase Freedom Unlimited and got instantly approved for a $1,500 credit limit. I was surprised with how high my starting limit was, but I think its also thanks to the fact all my W2 Direct Deposits from my job go to my Chase Checking account, so I already have a relationship with Chase. I want to eventually go for a Chase Trifecta, adding on the Flex and Saphire Preferred I think, when do you think I should apply for the Flex and then the Saphire? Thank you!
I turned 18 this March and started with a 500 limit freedom unlimited, then after 2-3 months applied for an Amex platinum and delta using the Amex apply without impact to score. Next I applied for a CSP and British airways card. I might just be an outlier data point but I believe that if you have a good banking and maybe even savings history with chase it definitely helps. As long as you can prove a decent income and have a good banking history with chase I believe that it’s certainly possible for you to get those cards with little history. I will say though what I did is very risky and I probably would never try something like this again also most of the chase apps were initially declined and I managed to succeed through recon whereas Amex was instant. I also had an authorized user card for 3 years with a 3500 limit and I remember the underwriters from chase telling me that they like to see how customers handle certain limits before issuing a higher limits on their end. If anything I’d recommend going with Amex since they seem to be easier to get approved and can process your app without putting a hard inquiry if you get the special msg in incognito mode. However if you choose to go for a sapphire card, while it is very difficult, it’s not impossible to get approved. Be aware of the chase rules and I wish all the best on your credit card journey!
Good on you! I got my first card at 19 about 2 years ago and I also was afraid. It’s good that we’re starting to build our history at an early age we’re definitely setting ourselves up for success and the future !
maybe i missed it but you didnt mention that with some companies like capital one, if you already applied for a card within a certain time frame then any new applications will automatically be denied. amex does something similar where if you have been denied within the last 30 days you cant apply until that period is over
Appreciate your videos! I have always paid only with a debit card and that made sense to me at the time. Your videos have been enlightening to a new way to think about finances. I recently applied for the Amex Gold card and Chase Freedom Flex. My goal is to complete the Chase Trifecta first to avoid the 5/24 rule. I was wondering your thoughts on how soon is too soon to apply for subsequent cards in the set up to avoid raising eye brows and limit my risk of denial.
Something that I wish credit issuers would look at is whether your credit score is trending up or trending down over the past 12 months. I'd be more willing to give a credit card to somebody who is a rising 550, than somebody who is a tanking 630.
Daniel, I got the Sapphire 4 months ago and got the intro bonus. I want to get the Unlimited to complete the trifecta, should I wait longer to apply for it? I’m out of 5/24, have good credit score, and income. My only thing is the waiting game.
Thank you for this video Daniel. I'm so new to the credit card world but with the help of your videos, have learned a ton. I applied for my first credit card (with no annual fee and checklisted all your recommendations) but now know to at least call the reconsideration line before giving up. I hope I get approved. thanks.
Me and u basically have the same thing happening cause im new to😅 got approved for my first credit card out of nowhere a week after my birthday last y😂
I got denied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Their reasoning was they thought the application was fraudulent, even though I submitted my passport, ID, birth certificate, and utility bill to prove my identity. I called customer service and she told me the documents weren't good enough. I should have asked to speak to someone else but I was so confused and frustrated I just let it be. Maybe I'll try again in a year or so.
I got denied for the Apple Card 3 times. Then when I applied for the Freedom Unlimited card I got a “needs further review, we’ll let you know” notice and got approved a few days later. Going off your advise I’ll wait awhile before applying for another card
How does reconsideration work? because i tried before and thye say oh unfortunately u applied online because of that we cannot help you! You are more than welcome to apply again withinn a short amount of time like wth.
I wanted to get the Chase trifecta and was denied the Flex card after getting the Sapphire preferred and the Unlimited card. Can I reapply and how long should I wait if so?
I applied to the chase freedom unlimited in July but was denied, prior to this (in may I believe) I was scammed trying to buy a car, is this permanently going to keep me from being about to get a card or should I just apply again this month?
I have 380 credit because my ex ruined my credit so i literally cannot get approval for anything at all what company will approve me this low. So i van get at least one card before Christmas...
Couple months tried applying for chase credit card as a first time and so revived a letter that stated that I was denied due bc my birth certificate name and SS name were identified different so on I went to the DMV, and fixed it. Wondering on how can I reapply??
Thanks for the video. I just got my credit score over 700. I want the Chase Freedom Unlimited, but I'm afraid to apply and get denied XD I'm almost 40 and began to understand credit about 10 years ago. It was horrible for me I was at 480. I started little by little and now got my credit over 760. This videos are a must see for every young person. You are doing an amazing job. BTW got approved for my first Chase Cars today and must of that was thanks to you!
I have a good friend, his credit is 690 ,mine is 841 he wants to be put on one of my CC as AU , he wants the card, to use , but will pay complete bal each month . Is this smart. To raise his score.
I just got denied for the Venture X due too many (recent) revolving accounts. I got the Amex Plat & Gold in March, and I am now like 10/24. I currently have the savor and quicksilver (from many years ago) with Capital One. Any thoughts on how long I should hold off before reapplying, or do you think the reconsideration line might be worth a shot due to my denial reason?
Hey when you apply for the Amex platinum did you also apply at the same for the gold I apply for the gold got it in nose trying for the Amex platinum but like you I too got turned down too many open account in short period I’m over for chase 5/24 rule Lol how this credit thing works
I got denied chase freedom unlimited because I was impatient and got a couple of cards the month before. I was still under the 5/24 rule so I thought why not. I called the reconsideration line and they still denied me unfortunately. fast forward 2 months and I applied for sapphire preferred because of the points and got approved. It's best to definitely wait and be patient. I'm going to wait until I at least get my current sign up bonus and another month before I try the freedom unlimited again
Pretty sure this happened to me just now lol. I tried for the Marriott Bonvoy card after just getting the Freedom Flex and CSR. I’m currently under “pending further review” so hopefully they come back with the approval.
Hey Daniel, do you think it is smart to try and get the Chase trifecta at the same time to avoid multiple hard inquiries? Not sure if you have a video answering this question
I just got my sapphire preferred approved, but there's something concerns me, my credit score in my banking app shows I have 750+ credit score, but the letter of my approved sapphire preferred said the day I applied, my credit score is only 690+ Is it because I'm the authorized user of my family's credit card? If so, shouldn't they use my family's credit score instead of my to measure the chances of me getting approved?
Your authorized user card is part of your own credit history. If you’re applying for your own credit card, they only need your score. They don’t need your family’s history or score. What bureau is pulled for the 750+? What bureau was pulled when you applied? Scores will vary from bureau to bureau, and different scoring models will add to that variation.
- often the bank apps use a vantage score, which tends to be inflated, whereas the lender will pull one of the different fico models: fico 8, 9, 10, or bankcard 5, etc. there are a bunch of them.
This same thing happened to me. My chase app says I have a score of 758 but my application said my score was 708. I was pretty annoyed by that, since both scores were from chase. It’s not like credit karma told me one number and transunion told me another. I know they vary, but 50 points seems like a huge difference.
It depends on which FICO score they used. There’s the FICO 8 vs FICO 9, and the variance between the two can be rather large. There’s also FICO vs Vantagescore. I NEVER pay attention to Vantagescore.
Hey I have a question I am pre approved for multiple citi cards and capital one venture one card and Amex gold and a few others now how does that work if apply for multiple cards on the same day does that tank your score
Based on some of the information I've seen on FB credit groups, you'll want to do some research on those bank offers. Meaning, which agencies (CRAs) they pull from to help you get the least amount of inquiries and you'd apply for say, Chase and Amex last as they are less strict about the number of inquiries needed to approve you. Your score will go down for a bit, but inquiries hold less weight than available credit (higher credit limits lower your utilization and that weighs much heavier than inquiries do). There are plenty of videos on your question on RUclips as well. See Radikal Marketer
@@lebisque9194 thanks so much for the helpful information thats a big help I need to get my utilization down then I'm at 72% and my score is 702 but I just got an increase of 1000$ and I just paid 400$ on the cards so that should get me under 45% utilization I'm pretty sure I can get the total for the 2 cards under 30% by the next report
I don’t have a FICO score(5 months credit history) but in credit karma, My score is 664 & 673. In the Chase app, my score is 680. Can I successfully apply for Citi Custom Cash Credit Card? (Currently, I have four credit cards with a total of 7000 limits.) And I have another question in terms of income, will the bank check whether the income I write is accurate?
Don’t think so, for the citi cards, atleast the ones worth having you need you need a 700+ but if you want outstanding chances, you need atleast 720, same goes for some of the chase cards or any cards worth having at all.
@@kevinrodriguez9659 i have Chase Flex with only four credit history. I can successfully get it with 2800 credit limit maybe just because I have Chase checking account(2000 dollars)
Thanks for the info Daniel! Stuff we didn’t ever think nor had anyone to teach us in school or in life. I just finished and graduated with my Bachelors of cyber security and information tech. Just received a huge pay increase, so hoping to now lower my utilization on my cards, then hope within the next couple of months to possible get my first travel card!

Idk if you are referring to credit limit, but neither of the Freedom Cards have a 10,000 minimum credit limit. The minimum credit limit for those cards is $500
This was a very practical video which I really appreciate. The title really made me wanna click and you definitely delivered on it. I think a big part of being approved for cards is to really dive into the identifying step. Sometimes we get caught up in thinking we deserve certain cards without putting in enough due diligence on the front end to see if that is actually the case. Identifying which cards are right for you (and if you are likely to be approved) is a key step in the credit card application process! Great video as always!
Hey Daniel. Really sound advice. I actually had a surprise a few months ago when the Venture X came out. I can't remember the last time I was denied for a card, but they denied me! I think I had everything in order - 817 FICO, 1% utilization, only one recent inquiry, etc. So, I tried the reconsideration line, but wasn't successful. Finally, when I got my denial letter in the mail, the reason they gave was that I had too many cards. I didn't even know that was a thing! The real reason may have been that I already have a Venture card with a high credit limit, but I rarely use it. Oh well, I guess I'm not what they are looking for! Talk to you soon.
I was recently approved for the CSP after calling the reconsideration line. It was the last card I wanted to open since I was under the 5/24 personally. Chase had sent 2 pre-selected packages in the mail so I took it as a sign, after applying I was initially denied but called the reconsideration line and learned that my wife had me as an authorized user for a card that put me over 5/24 for a brief moment. After I explained that I wasn’t financially responsible for the card, they re-reviewed my application, w/o another hard pull, and I was approved. The call was around 45 minutes but was worth it, I’m happy to have my second card with Chase considering all the changes coming.
Amex has given me pre-approved offers for the Amex Platinum Business card and Amex Gold Business card. I cannot afford to pay for the $695 annual fee for the Platinum Business card and $295 annual fee for the Gold Business card. I was thinking about applying for the Amex Blue Business Plus. Amex offered me a pre-approved loan for $3,500. I applied for this offer early May and was approved for my first personal loan ever. Should I wait for at least 91 days until I apply for an Amex card?
Another great video, Daniel! :) I've called recon a couple times, but the only time I was successful was with Discover - and I was so annoyed too, lol - because they randomly LOWERED my CL. After escalating to recon they said the system will do this periodically on a lot of factors, but once they confirmed m income and a couple other basics she was able to restore the CL to what it was. :P
I’ve apply for citi card turn flat down Called in nothing at all no Help in I was really honest in nice . For now look at two card in that’s it have too wait like you said in be patient
I Have 3 Hard inquiries Do And Have A 786 Credit Score. Do You guy think I can away with getting approved for a Sapphire Preferred? Amex Gold Card, Chase Freedom Flex And Freedom Unlimited are the other 2 Cards. April 30th Gold Card, May 14th Freedom Flex and May 24th Freedom Unlimited? I also know Chase Has A 2/30 Rule Which I’ll wait maybe Until Day 40 to apply. 100% Payment History and 2% Credit Utilization.
That seems like a sure thing to me. You can check your Chase account for offers, and they might even have it there for you with an interest rate, ready to go. That’s what it was like for me, and I have similar numbers.
Please do not encourage the use of credit cards, it is best to live within your means, all that interest that has to be paid back, have been there done it and worn the t-shirt,
Just because they didn’t work for you doesn’t mean they don’t work for everyone. If you can manage finances and live within your means but also hold credit cards that is great too. I have credit cards and only ever pay the statement balance negating the interest. Because the interest only accrues if you carry a balance. If you can’t afford to pay the balance in full each month than a credit card is not for you. If you can both live within your means, hold credit cards and pay the balance you will be fine.
people keep applying for credit cards and they never pay the banks! In USA, you can apply credit cards easily even you are a non-US citizen or non-resident!!! I’m afraid the banks will be bankrupt!
I Only been with Chase for less than a month and was able to get approved for 3 credit cards. I just RECENTLY used their reconsideration line to get approved for the Chase sapphire preferred and I got approved! #ChaseTrifecta
You really shouldn't use a personal loan because you'll be paying interest. If you don't have the money, I would aim for a 0% APR card if you must buy it immediately. Otherwise, I would wait. Loans do matter, and will generally reduce your score until some time has been spent (the balance decreases, and payment history)

This videos are a must see for every young person. You are doing an amazing job.
BTW got approved for my first Chase Cars today and must of that was thanks to you!
If you have a credit history of at least 12 months or have a current banning relationship with Chase, you should be able to get approved. Good luck 🤞
@@swagmasta4764 I went straight for the Sapphire preferred and got approved. Thanks.
I got denied for the freedom unlimited and flex but got them to approve me for the freedom unlimited after I called
Waiting for my 2nd Anniversary and I’m heading to chase freedom unlimited 😂
I have a good friend, his credit is 690 ,mine is 841 he wants to be put on one of my CC as AU , he wants the card, to use , but will pay complete bal each month . Is this smart. To raise his score.
Hell no! Never do financial business with friends. It never ends well.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!! You can add him as an authorized user but DO NOT give him the card, no matter how much you trust him. Recipe for disaster!!!
Nope! Hope you didn’t do it
I just got denied for the Venture X due too many (recent) revolving accounts. I got the Amex Plat & Gold in March, and I am now like 10/24. I currently have the savor and quicksilver (from many years ago) with Capital One. Any thoughts on how long I should hold off before reapplying, or do you think the reconsideration line might be worth a shot due to my denial reason?
Hey when you apply for the Amex platinum did you also apply at the same for the gold
I apply for the gold got it in nose trying for the Amex platinum but like you I too got turned down too many open account in short period
I’m over for chase 5/24 rule
Lol how this credit thing works
@@Anthonyjones-pq4ff I applied for the Plat first and then the Gold like 2 weeks later
Get the mission lane not anual fee. I have capital one platinum, and Savor when I did my application with a kind of lower score and I got it.
You applied for too many in order to get sign up bonuses
Great info sir 👍👍👍
Nice!

Thanks Man! This video is Great soo much info! 🙌🏽
I get denied because of low credit
Hey Daniel, do you think it is smart to try and get the Chase trifecta at the same time to avoid multiple hard inquiries?
Not sure if you have a video answering this question
Quick question whats the optional payment security program and is it worth it on a credit card?
Daniel - I dread denial letters
I just got my sapphire preferred approved, but there's something concerns me, my credit score in my banking app shows I have 750+ credit score, but the letter of my approved sapphire preferred said the day I applied, my credit score is only 690+
Is it because I'm the authorized user of my family's credit card?
You are the homie
6!!! Thanks for another great video Daniel!
Thanks so much Paul, appreciate the support as always! 👍
nice 👍🏼
Don’t think so, I also have 5 months but two credit cards and wasn’t pre approved atleast. & What cards do you have?
@@Mr.305_ when i check citi pre approval, citi says cannot find any match. So I am worried.
Don’t think so, for the citi cards, atleast the ones worth having you need you need a 700+ but if you want outstanding chances, you need atleast 720, same goes for some of the chase cards or any cards worth having at all.
You need to check Fico 8 scores and bankcard scores
@@kevinrodriguez9659 i have Chase Flex with only four credit history. I can successfully get it with 2800 credit limit maybe just because I have Chase checking account(2000 dollars)
Thanks for the info Daniel! Stuff we didn’t ever think nor had anyone to teach us in school or in life. I just finished and graduated with my Bachelors of cyber security and information tech. Just received a huge pay increase, so hoping to now lower my utilization on my cards, then hope within the next couple of months to possible get my first travel card!
I am in school for cybersecurity as well. What school did you graduate from? I am currently at WGU.
@@Jes1919 I just graduated in May of this year. University of South Florida. Best of luck to you Josh!
@@coryramos2158 I oeginally went to USF, but they didn’t include certifications paid for by the school. WGU pays for all the certs for example, Network+.
@@Jes1919 awesome man. Yea with my degree that opened a lot of doors for me and allowed me to move up further in my company. Beyond thankful for that. Several years
does the chase freedom flex have an minimum income requirement of 10,000?
Idk if you are referring to credit limit, but neither of the Freedom Cards have a 10,000 minimum credit limit. The minimum credit limit for those cards is $500
visa minimum limits:
visa - $500
visa signature - $5000
visa infinite - $10,000
Great video. Using your advice I got the venture x card and working on the intro bonus.
Omg how many cards do you have?
@@karlasaenz6512 lol. 13.
@@anthonygardner400 just pay off your balances and close some accounts when it's down
@Shawn S I have a solid set of Chase cards, so I think I’ll do exactly as you said. Sit tight and let Capital One pass. :)
Good information
Ok
Thanks for watching Brittany!
@@Daniel_Brauntwo years late. But this interaction made me laugh.
whoo! glad i saw this right after i got turned down for a CSP. just called for reconsideration.
In agreement, going with a simple, no annual fee card first and then building out from there, but not overdoing it. Excellent!
Greatings.
Whats your recomendation for those who want to have one good CC to buy flights and later redeem points, and live in Europe?
I’ve apply for citi card turn flat down
Called in nothing at all no Help in I was really honest in nice . For now look at two card in that’s it have too wait like you said in be patient

🥇 you got it Paul, thanks for the early view and comment!
Thank You So much! I really appreciate that.
Looks like Daniels in a wheelchair. 😄
Credit is not a privilege, but a right!
Your teachings are completely incorrect
I Only been with Chase for less than a month and was able to get approved for 3 credit cards. I just RECENTLY used their reconsideration line to get approved for the Chase sapphire preferred and I got approved! #ChaseTrifecta
Do installment loans really matter? Would it be worth my time to get a personal loan just to further build my credit?
You really shouldn't use a personal loan because you'll be paying interest. If you don't have the money, I would aim for a 0% APR card if you must buy it immediately. Otherwise, I would wait. Loans do matter, and will generally reduce your score until some time has been spent (the balance decreases, and payment history)
