My absolute favorite. I picked up 3 cases over Christmas while visiting my family in Jersey. The next morning after the first night my face was super puffy from crying and I couldn’t remember why and then realized later it’s because no more puzzles under the cap. For those who don’t like it maybe it’s just an acquired taste and keep drinking lol.
Exactly why I am here finding out. Watching Frasier and seeing his dad always drank. I am 52 and have drank almost every beer you can in the states. Never tried. And unfortunately never will. I am a teatotaler now
My home town, Newark, NJ. The brewery buildings, were just purchased and being turned into condos. They were the only company that made an IPA, for many years. Every bottle cap had a puzzle on the inside. They got harder to solve, the more you drank. 🍻🍺

Ballantine you ethier like it or you don't. Back in the day Reingold, Schaefer. Iron city, Hamm's and old Milwaukee got the job done at a reasonable price. Get older buy the high advertised brews still end up in the same place buzzed.

@@bartrobinson2103 we used to go to Cowtown Rodeo every year and Richman’s ice cream is part of our family’s history. There’s a Richman street across from the high school but I think the sign fell down

I have been to the Ballantine House many times. The house the Ballantine family lived in is now part of the Newark Museum. My mom and I used to go there during the Christmas season when it is fixed up for the season. I'm not a huge fan of the Ballantine Ale.
My cheap go-to beers are Miller High life bottles, and Hamms. I tried a Ballantine when i was a kid and my Dad let me sip it. I just bought a 6pack. At first taste i didnt like it. I'm in mid 60's.
Thanks! I don't like the entire backstory of a beer, but if there's something interesting, I give it a sentence or two. Any more than that, cuts into the beer drinking. I mean reviewing. CHEERS!
When I was a Kid, every Barroom in the Boston area had a Ballantine neon sign in the little barroom windows.
The first time I ever heard of this brand of beer was in Frasier. Marty always drank Balentine
Lol. Great reference! Thanks for your views, sub and support - CHEERS!

A quart of Ballantine Ale was my first legal drink in 1969. It was really good back then. They also made a decent India Pale Ale.
it got popular for advertising in the ballparks up in NY, then became east coast ghetto brew in the 80's like Ice beers
I remember Marty Crane always drinking this in the show Frasier and always wondered how it would taste

It was Janis Joplin's choice,
I like this ale, but it is not sold in Louisiana. We did get the Ballantine IPA about five years ago. It didn't last, for long.
Luckily, you're not missing much. CHEERS!
The 1 place that I’ve seen this at in my area has it for $9 a six pack & I refuse to pay that for it
Smart. It wasn’t worth the $7.99 I paid. I’ve had better cheaper beers. CHEERS!
pu I guess so
I also have grown organically. Ask my wife.
lol. CHEERS!

Yeah, not the greatest. PROST!
I like it though
Ideas for review- Shiner Bock, Boston Lager, Fat tire, Blue moon, and Shock top.
Good candidates - All beers that are over hyped and that I can barely stand. CHEERS!
