I tried PBR for the first time this past summer. I was in dollar general looking for Busch light and PBR was on the shelf right at eye level I never had it or tried it so I got a 12pack and I do have to say I thought it was a great change of pace. Since then I've bought it regularly, turned my co-workers onto it and yes I am a grandfather and I think it's wonderful 👍
Before hipsters proclaimed PBR for themselves in the mainstream, I was introduced to Pabst Blue Ribbon by the underground psychobilly/rockabilly greaser scene. Been drinking it ever since because it's just a good classic beer 🍺
With the better beers hitting $12/six pack it's refreshing to find a 30-pack of PBR for around $20. I agree with your rating, it's good enough to drink.
I drink PBR 90% of the time and have done so for 40 years because I love it. I have tried all of them and I keep coming back to this one and the price is not an issue. I'd still buy it if it was twice the price.
PBR has been my go to since I turned 21. I love a lot of the craft stuff but for just a casual beer for fishing, cook outs, or watching a race nothing can beat it
Been drinking PBR off and on for 30 years. It is my go-to cheap beer. Readily available, cheap, and has more flavor than other cheap beers. Hits the spot when out fishing or doing yard work. Best when ice cold on a hot day.
I actually seek out PBR because I enjoy the flavor. I do agree with you on the fact point that it is much better served cold, but I prefer this beer for it's old school flavor.
PBR is one I choose when I'm fishing or swimming in the river on a summer day. Easy to drink and I don't care if I spill one or get some mud on the can.
As a fairly young guy at 27 current I started drinking pbr when I was 22. Before that I was always an MGD or Molson canadian drinker. I switched because it was a cheap beer that had a good flavor. But man it honestly beats any other "cheap beer" ive had and when I order it at bars and get that weird look I own that shit now. I got a pbr trucker and a pbr pint glass lmfao. at the end of the day im savin money
Used to drink it in highschool with my buddy cuz it was cheap. Thought it was alright for the low price. Stopped drinking Budweiser for reasons lol and went to blue ribbon, taste even better than I remembered
I drink PBR because I love the beer. It's by far the best of the cheap American lagers, and I can get 30-packs in northern New England for $17 bucks. 😁 Great review (even though I'd give it a 4.5 LOL).
The pbster is hands down in comparison my favorite cheap beer. My go to when the wallets tight. I am a beginner brewer looking to advance. there's nothing more than pbr that makes me hiccup like it. With that being said, this has helped me to understand aromas tastes and feels. i know the beer well and hearing your interp is only helping me understand taste and other measures
I genuinely like it. It doesn't taste as dirty as High Life or as boring as Budweiser. I haven't had a Banquet in awhile but I remember it being way too sweet to be refreshing. It's also cheaper than anything I just mentioned besides High Life. Oh yeah, and the cans are dope.
From Colorado, so banquets are nectar of the gods to me lol!! But you hit the nail on the head. PBR becoming the true #2. But it needs to be ice cold, but what beer isn’t best cold.
I first started drinking PBR because It was sold at all the music concerts and festivals I went to when I was in my 20s in my 30s I genuinely enjoy the taste. My grandpa has drank it since the 70s.
It's funny you said you used to live here. I'm sitting here in Athens, GA while drinking a PBR and procrastinating on my homework. What an interesting, small world we live in.
I'm 24 and I actually drink it because I actually like it and due to the recent Budweiser incident I was really looking for another beer to try. But yes I drink it because I like it. I'm not an avid drinker. I drink only occasionally or around the ball park of 2 times a month. But I do like the Beer Another I like Is Modelo but Pabst is priced pretty well and decent for me.
Beer is not defined or limited by ones age. I have a well paying job and can afford many "High end craft beers". The so called "cheap beer for trailer park types" is pretty harsh. Does ones taste buds become benign because of their financial status! Many so called beer snobs drinking the latest in beer trends and smelling their own asses feeling superior to others is a joke. I have had many blind beer tasting challenges with "cheap" beer and embarrassed numerous beer snobs changing their pompous, righteous selves. Go PBR, Schlitz and Coors Banquet. Undeniably right.
Really enjoyed watching this. I drink PBR almost exclusively. One of my favorites, good price and good taste. To me it tastes like Bud was supposed to taste. Now I'm not saying it is the best, but it is good for it's style and price. Anyways I rarely drink out in bars anymore, like you said, people over 45! I don't drink to satisfy anyone but myself. Thank you for the down to Earth honest reviews!
PBR was my first beer and it was my dad’s beer of choice. I don’t drink beer often anymore but when i crave a beer that is the flavor i am always looking for. And yes it is best ice cold.
PBR was the first beer that I drank. I like Lagers, Pilsners and a few craft beers. I mainly drink PBR now because I don't want to support any InBev products and as long as it is cold, it's a nice and cheap beer. I keep at least a 12 pack in the beer fridge at 37°F at all times.
I was a dedicated Old Style drinker until one day when I was walking home from my lifeguard job. I was all sunburned and tired as hell, and a friend handed me an ice cold pbr. At the time , I thought it was the best beer I ever tasted. I went on to drink it exclusively through 4 years of college. Great cheap beer!
Damn, 6 bucks for PBR?! I remember when Heineken was 6 bucks for a six-pack; how times have changed..... easy princess.... $6 for 6 T-boys ...which is 8 beers
In my opinion this beer tastes even better on draft. Theres a bar close to my buddies house that has it on draft. I ordered one and got lucky enough they had to crack open a fresh keg. Wow it tasted great especially on a hot day.
I absolutely love Pabst ❤️🇺🇸 for me, it strikes the right balance with flavor… Not too harsh nor bland. On a hot day, It goes down very smooth and refreshing ice cold.
It's a great beer for miami beach. It was 85° today..I had a supeBBQ.. cold PBR with a Delicious Salmon filet on the bbq..loveee PBR..and on the boat its even better....I also love PBR with a Pepperoni Pizza n hot sauce
Pabst is awesome from the can and even better on tap. I was buying 30-packs for $19.98 in New Jersey until recently. Now it's $21.99. The stuff is great, especially when working in the yard on a hot day or shoveling snow in the winter (if we ever get snow again).
I brewed beer for over a decade. My father grew a vineyard. After all that PBR was and is my go to beer for the light/ rice hull beers. F the hipsters and the ruskies for the price increase
PBR seems to be easier on my stomach. Been drinking peebs since 2011. before that, I just drank whatever and always had major heartburn. I'm still the only person in my friend group that seeks it out and that's ok.
I like PBR in the warm weather months but as a craft beer snob I rarely drink it in public . Prefer in a bottle or if from a can poured into a glass - never straight from the can . Better to me than most American macro brews.
I call it a craft beer with my friends as a joke, because we all agree that its the best cheap beer. We all will drop $30+ on a 4 pack of craft beer, but we will all also drink a (very cold) pbr without question. Its genuinely a very tasty light American beer for such a low price. A 6 pack of pbr is the same price as one of those craft beers i was talking about.
For me, it's going to be a lot of nostalgia. It tastes like the beer my uncle let me have a sip of when I was a little kid. Quintessential American beer.
A few years back we stopped at a small diner about a block from Harvard campus. Opened the "drink menu" and there it was. A 16 oz. PBR for a $1.50. Cracked me up...I imagine about 80% of the students have parents who could buy the diner...let alone a much more expensive brewski. I couldn't pass it up.............the beer that will soon make Harvard famous. 😀 PS--I'm an old dude....and remember back in the 50's PBR, Falstaff, Hamm's and Schlitz were all pretty popular beers at the local bowling alley....don't know about trailer parks...
PBR is way ahead of the other “mainstream” beers like Bud, Busch, Natty Light, Miller, etc. It’s my #1 drink after mowing the yard on a hot day. Been drinking it since 1983.
I'm looking for a replacement for Bud Light. So far I think it's gonna be Miller Lite.. But I'm open to suggestions. I have never had a craft beer I can finish. 90% of my beer drinking evolves fishing. Hot weather and a boat. It's GOTTA be ice cold.👍
I actually like it. You're right about it being cold. Nothing amazing, but it's cheap in a bar and bars are so expensive in America. I'll get a nicer beer at a bar if I'm in Asia, Latin America, Europe...probably Africa as well when I eventually visit. I prefer to get it on tap. Solid 2nd or 3rd beer too when playing pool
I never had a PBR until last year and I grabbed one at an arcade where they sell pints. I liked it right off the bat. I don’t like to drink just one brand but PBR is definitely in my rotation. Lol
pbr is what they'd have at house shows around where I grew up. it's forever in my head associated with wild nights of hardcore music and stupid drugs. love this shit
I drink PBR because I think that it punches above its weight for its price. From my experience it tastes a lot like original Budweiser, but is significantly cheaper. It's maybe not the best beer, but since its definitely my favorite American-type Lager. If i wanted to spend more money I wouldnt be hetting a beer like bud anyways, I'd be getting something craft.
i bought pbr cuz 2 6 packs of 16 oz cans, is only like 13 dollars. it tastes way better than most cheap beers. it's very cheap. like 2 6 packs of 16 oz cans is the equivalent of drinking a 12 pack of 12 oz of another cheap beer. except pbr comes with the equivalent of 4 cans more. so basically 13 dollars for a 16 pack. that's a good mf deal ong
I grew up with my dad calling PBR, Pabsty Cola. I now call it that too, much to the chagrin of my wife. I'm more likely to buy Pabst over anything that isn't named Yuengling lol.
I did not expect you to chug nearly the full pint lmao. Also I drink pbr because it is the best cheap beer. about $18 for a 18 pack of 12fl. oz. My favorite go-to beer would probably be modelo, but modelo isn't selling their beer for $1 a bottle lol.
I drink Pabst almost exclusively because I like it the best out of everything available in a 30 pack. If I'm feeling a little more zesty I'll spring for Coors banquet in a bottle or Schlitz. But when men and my friends do anything it's always Pabst. Because it's universally accepted and cheap.
In the early 70’s our high school-age brew choices were pretty much Miller, Bud, and PBR. When my kids got to college and started drinking PBR to be retro, I had to laugh. As to your question, I drink cheap high AVB beers - old man in a lower economic bracket. So for me it Boatswain and Simpler Times.
I used to drink PBR back in my good ole high-school days back in 2013. I worked at grocery store and had a cute cashier of age buy me a 24 pack 🤣 I also bought a mini fridge for my room so I could toss the beer in my backpack and sneak them in my room. It was cheap and fairly easy to down and I remember sitting on the shitter late at night right before school started. Did I mention it was the good ole days? 😂 I haven't touched PBR in YEARS, I'm now 28 and recently bought a 6 pack of GLASS bottles. And... It doesn't seem to hit the spot like I remembered it to, sadly. The initial hit to the tongue is great, but the after taste lingers of rubbing alcohol. Hard to enjoy now, but can't waste it. Cheers.
Way back once upon a long ago I had a friend who got his first job stocking the cooler for a very popular convenience store. The owner told him he could enjoy a cold drink on shift which was heard as 'take some beer home with you' so over that summer we drank a lot of beer and tried pretty much everything even a couple non-alcoholic options. We liked PBR because when we didn't have the free beer it was usually cheap and chug-able. Even today its a good feeling when someone hands you a PBR but I haven't bought any myself in a long while.

Im 28 when I first started drinking beer I was a Budweiser guy but my grandpa always drank pbr. After he died it became my go to. Ill drink craft beers sometimes but honestly l just like how pbr tastes after a hard days work. My 18 year old self would be shaking his head.
I drink whatever I find that's cheapest. Usually Hamm's, Old Milwaukee, Natty, etc. I couldn't care less about what others think about it. If PBR is on sale, I'd drink that too. Things are getting too pricey to be worried about impressing others.
I’m not a social drinker, I’m not a grandpa. I’m a 33 year old millennial, not a hipster though. It used to be my go to because I taste a whole lot of bang for the buck. I agree with the 3/5, can’t complain for the price especially
If you spent six years in Athens, you are certainly familiar with Clemson. I was there from 67 to 71 and during that time I'm sure I drank at least two kegs of PBR in the "student" bar, the Study Hall - the smell really wasn't good. PBR was apparently the official beer of South Carolina; Budweiser was not welcome there even though the Bud man came buy and gave out sexy posters. Anyway, I still have a soft spot in my heart for PBR because of all the fond memories and camaraderie in that sacred bar. I retired and moved just 15 miles from Clemson and was surprised that PBR is no longer the favoreds brew. I do remember that PBR on tap had a great flavor not found in cans. Anyway, thanks for the review and memories. Steve AKA Goose
As I've gotten older , i typically drink lite beer but occasionally I'll buy some full flavored beer and I'm frustrated with the monopoly that Anheuser Busch has on the shelf space in stores down in south Georgia. Have to leave the state to get any sort of variety
Never heard of it till a 3x bank robber introduced it to me in St George Utah circa 2000 . Best cold sarsaparilla hands down ever. of course I was like hey with all that bank money cant you buy good beer :) PABST #theonlygoodbeer
It's pretty good beer. Been drinking it for last 20 years. It's inexpensive, not cheap, and always scores the same. A go to beer. Will it compete with a good IPA? of course not. It is what it is and that's a well rounded , grab daily , beverage
I used to drink PBR a lot when I was in my early 20’s… I agree with the college bar smell… these days, there’s so many cheap beers to choose from, I usually go with High Life, it’s probably the cheapest in my area, so it’s usually my go to! I find most cheap beers are all about the same quality with slight differences in profile and nose but essentially all indistinguishable after 4-5 😂… I do enjoy a lower ABV when smoking something all day. A .6-.5% makes a difference when you’re doing a brisket all day!

@@Padawan333Canada is fucked! who makes a FIFTEEN pack? you cant even split that evenly with your bro!
I get two 24 oz ones a night its my Favorite beer
PS--I'm an old dude....and remember back in the 50's PBR, Falstaff, Hamm's and Schlitz were all pretty popular beers at the local bowling alley....don't know about trailer parks...
Moosehead Canadian Lager is good.
I enjoy PBR, I haven't had it in a few years, But I recently have thought about getting it again. Great review man, cheers!
PBR is much better than I remember. Good thing for the revisit! Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
A solid go to. Thanks for your view, SUB and support - CHEERS!
Enjoyed my first PBR at my grandad's knee so I've been a fan for --- what? hey! 65 yrs!!!
A true beer snob would not guzzle a beer to conduct a taste test. But I'll accept your review and might even buy a 12 pack.
i bought pbr cuz 2 6 packs of 16 oz cans, is only like 13 dollars. it tastes way better than most cheap beers. it's very cheap. like 2 6 packs of 16 oz cans is the equivalent of drinking a 12 pack of 12 oz of another cheap beer. except pbr comes with the equivalent of 4 cans more. so basically 13 dollars for a 16 pack. that's a good mf deal ong
I grew up with my dad calling PBR, Pabsty Cola. I now call it that too, much to the chagrin of my wife. I'm more likely to buy Pabst over anything that isn't named Yuengling lol.
I told my grandad that PBR was a "Premium Beer" at bars and such these days... He laughed his azz off. 😂
PBR for cheap beer is not bad at all. Try Natural Ice if you want something truly disgusting.
Nasty Ice lol. Thanks for the view, SUB and support - CHEERS!
I haven't touched PBR in YEARS, I'm now 28 and recently bought a 6 pack of GLASS bottles.
Hard to beat free beer!
Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
I’m 42 and I’ve been drinking PBR on and off for the past decade. I’m not trying to impress anyone, it’s just one of the better cheap beers IMO
Let that baby open up when you pour it. A good head on a PBR can be a good 1.5”.
It’s a good cheap beer. Better choice than Bud or Miller
I would have to agree. Thanks for the view, SUB and support - CHEERS!
The Best of the cheap beers.
The best American Beer - history, almost 200 years, great simple taste - the way I like it
That “taste” was like Dave Portnoy’s “one bite” 😂
You might be on to something! lol CHEERS!

As I've gotten older , i typically drink lite beer but occasionally I'll buy some full flavored beer and I'm frustrated with the monopoly that Anheuser Busch has on the shelf space in stores down in south Georgia. Have to leave the state to get any sort of variety
I like it, and do not drink it, to be seen. I had one at the C. Florida at Tulane game on Saturday (12oz. can).
You had only ONE? lol. CHEERS!
I drink it because it's a fantastic beer for the price. One of the best at that price point
Drinking a PBR after a night of High Life's. Prefer the sweet simplicity of the high life honestly
