  • Heard about these villages in Sembawang long ago but never got around to actually knowing where they were when they existed.
I happen to chance upon some archives with maps, so i made a recce trip down to the area.
Almost immediately i understood what the maps showed as i glance around the landscape, it gave a strong feeling of nostalgia as i've been there once as a little kid.
What remains now are some remnants of the past villages and some closed roads that used to connect the whole area together extensively.
Watch the video to enjoy and discover what i found, let me know in the comments if you have any additional knowledge about the areas i covered, i would so greatly appreciated it. 💖 Enjoy!

I accidentally discovered this area during circuit breaker time when I cycled a lot more to keep myself sane. I could not believe such places still existed in Singapore! Made me so happy and brought back many happy childhood memories. 😊

Kg Wak Hassan was still there in the year 2000. I took a bunch of photos there, knowing that its days were numbered. In the mid-eighties, I used to regularly visit Tg Irau, a lovely quiet spot, off the beaten track. It's such a pity that these do not exist any more 😟

Hi Robbie, thanks for watching! I guess things move on with the times and nothing is permanent. But that area is still a lovely peaceful place to be at during the day, a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Such pockets of tranquility are getting really rare here in Singapore.

There used to be a small pulau where during low tide in the ole days we could wade across and in the night using a sampan, the waters between the pulau and mainland, we could catch lots of squids. We Sembawang boys used to enjoy so much in the good ole days.
