    My problems with the Reflex RS are: 1 you have to be online to use it, without there servers its a paper weight; 2 You have to use there resins, to get the most out of it. You cant edit your settings either. to summarize: Too many proprietary things on or with it, and not enough control.

    Couple notes for you as you get more into resin printing your minis:
    -After they're washed in alcohol, let them dry fully before curing (or blast them dry with an unloaded airbrush). That's where the white gunk you're seeing on the minis is coming from. The UV resin gets trapped on the surface in pockets of alcohol, and as the resin cures, it creates basically a resin sponge that looks like white gunk at eye level. If you let the alcohol fully evaporate first, it will leave that uncured resin behind and it'll blend in with the rest of the resin during the curing phase.
    -If you aren't doing this already, remove supports BEFORE curing. They're way easier to clip off and typically won't leave nearly as bad scarring from removal.
    -Once the magic starts to fade you will start noticing layer lines. Happens to everyone. Just take note that the layer lines at this scale will often disappear as soon as you hit the minis with primer. The sections you will see layer lines the worst at are usually domed surfaces toward the "top" of the print (ie. the side of the print that faces the vat).
    I keep seeing the Reflex RS everywhere and it might be my next printer if I ever feel like the Saturn 3 Ultra can't keep up anymore. Excited to see what you do with it for kitbashing!

      This is super helpful information. I am enjoying the Uniformation GK2 . Got it a few weeks ago and have been having so much fun printing and learning how to slice properly so far. 🤙

    Follow up questions about the resin:
    1) Is the proprietary resin required, even in general? You mention the cheaper bottle that has to be manually poured, which is fine. Can I just use a third party resin, say SirayaTech, without impact to quality?
    2) Can the bottles that use the auto-refill section be refilled? Can you, say, get one bottle, then constantly refill that bottle with the regular, cheaper resin (or as question 1, with third party resin)?

      1. The youtuber Greedy 3D has shown that certain third party resins can work just fine. You have to use preset settings on the printer meant for their proprietary resin and cannot make adjustments, so results may vary.
      2. Yes they can be refilled by unscrewing the lid.

    I'm actually amazed at the level of detail. Can't wait to see where this technology goes.

    Hi!! could you please share the dimensions of the box the printer came in ? does the pulse release module come separately packed? I intend to get this freight forwarded to Singapore, so the dimensions of the box and weight of the package will really help with cost planning! Much appreciated.

    I think I’ll stick with my Saturn 3 ultra for now, but that does look like a nice printer. If I ever want to replace it, I’ll look into this brand. However, that cleaning station looks really nifty.

    You should print a titan like mediocre hobbies did, it would be absolutely mad

    the fact this printer is locked out unless you are able to sign in to Reflex servers mean, if those server (or hell your internet connection) ever goes down, err bye bye printer. cant use it. seems.... naff, that aspect.

    ok so real talk here, how much space in your house does this take, if I were to get all three of those how big of a table/workbench would I need? and how stable does it need to be? would one of those foldable tables be stable enough for that?

    • @Kirioth
      @Kirioth  9 дней назад

      You can fit the printer, cure and wash stations on a 60x140x75cm table... I know cos that's what mine are on! You need a solid, sturdy table; I'd be cautious about putting them on a foldable.
      The main thing you need to think about is ventilation. Resin printing lets some nasty stuff into the air, and you want to make sure that it gets out of the room quick!

    • @mandyd9681
      @mandyd9681 9 дней назад

      @@Kirioth cool, the ventilation wouldnt be the issue for me, just the table, both the garage and gaming room next to it are 15x22 so ventilation wouldnt be an issue, thanks!

      @@DirtHermit Resin printers are generally pretty power efficient. I can't get into the super nerd stuff because I'm not that electronics-minded, but you're basically powering a lamp with a 1.5amp motor and a cell phone connected to it. Power usage will go up a bit if you use a heated vat.

    It's nowhere near perfect. a perfect resin printer would dispense just enough resin into the vat, maybe 5-8mm deep, for printing. and some sort of method to easily transfer the balance resin back into the bottle. what resin manufacturers need to do to improve adoption is a means to handle the resin easily or even not at all for the user, that is the biggest bug bear over print quality. I'd buy a 2K printer that I don't need to touch the resin at all, just insert a bottle, slice and hit print, transfer the print bed with no dripping and minimal resin to the wash and cure station, where the resin is easily water soluble and safe to dispose into the drain. that would bring in a hell lot more people to resin printing than 12K resolution

      @Caliban743 8 дней назад +1

      Exactly, and practicality is a huge reason, but even more important is that resin is incredibly toxic to spill on your skin. A human should handle this as little as possible
