I've been so surprised at the number of influencers who dislike the CG foundation; complaints of texture, wear-time, coverage, etc., that I'm not experiencing with the product. I think the light coverage is perfect for my (older) skin, and the ingredients are so kind to my very dry complexion. Your experience with it seems much more in line with my own, and it's just one more reason I take your reviews to heart! Thanks, Jen!

I’m 66 with dry skin, sun damage, wrinkles, looking for a fragrance-free tinted moisturizer with sheer coverage that wears well and doesn’t look like foundation. The Covergirl is PERFECT! I considered the Chanel and the Rose Inc. similar products but the fragrance and prices put me off. Be aware the shades are very neutral but run very run light-I’m always the first light shade in foundation (after the fair shades) but light-medium is perfect in this. I like that this company is Leaping Bunny certified too (Chanel is not.) Also, I got it at Rite-Aide for buy one get/one half off, plus 30% off for buy online pickup in store, so I got 2 bottles for $24, which breaks down to a much better drugstore foundation price. Thanks Jen, I first saw this on your other video!

That's another thing is Chanel is NOT cruelty free and cover girl is. It all comes down to the smallest details but I can't see paying $70 for a product that is 99% the same. Your paying for the chanel name and obviously packaging. (Imo) Have a blessed day ❤️

I agree with you that drugstore brands are bumping prices up to take advantage of the dupes. I feel like they try to train you to spend more using the excuse that it’s so much cheaper than the original. It’s especially irritating when the dupe isn’t really even a great dupe. I’m glad to hear that’s not the case here, but I’ll still probably wait for a sale.

Honestly it works so well on my skin. I didn’t like it when I used it with my fingers the first time, but I gave it another chance with my normal brush routine. It covers my texture and acne scars just enough to not look like I have a full face on, and it actually helped calm my skin a bit after a cystic acne flare up which is so rare

I wondered if the greater expense was due to the technology used to suspend the balls of color in water, but I don’t know at all what that involves. It’s so interesting to me that they stay suspended yet are so easy to blend into the skin. I’d assume that the foundations being shaken from travel would cause them to blend within the bottle. Thank you for comparing these; I also was VERY curious if CoverGirl was a dupe for the Chanel.

People have been flipping out a bit over the price of this product from Covergirl - but to their defense bakuchiol is a very expensive ingredient. That being said I love this Skin essence - I'm 58 with dry skin and I live in a really dry climate in winter - this is great on my skin. I use a flat top kabuki brush to apply it over my sunscreen and finish it all off with a good luminating finishing powder (I use the ambient lighting from hourglass). It looks very skin-like, offers decent coverage (I do have lines but not much texture) and lasts a good 8+ hours on me. When I go to buy it again, I will wait for a sale but I'm glad I got it to try out before it sold out!

I don’t have texture. I do tend to be more sensitive and dry in winter. Generally, I dislike foundations marketed for dry skin. I’m not sure how the CG is marketed. But it isn’t drying nor does it produce that oil-slick look on me. So I’ve been quite happy with it (I’ve only used it about 3-4 weeks).

Loved these reviews! First at all, I want this CG foundation! I don't know how good will work on oily skin but mine is also mature, so I think is perfect for a daily use looking natural and I really love it also has bakuchiol! I think this one is a real foundation with skincare. And your comment pointing out a product with 70% water shouldn't be so expensive was great! thanks for comparing the formulas! Also, I think this Colourpop collection is so pretty! I've seen on IG some youtubers showing they received it but yours is the first review I watch here on YT! (Is like if everyone else didn't care too much about trying them, just doing a story showing they have them). And I think it was important to know from a reliable voice those blushes are good! (personally I don't love very pink blushes but if they extend the shades, I could get one).

I've lately decided I'd like a more natural type of finish so was intrigued when I started hearing about this. I too was wanting to check out the Chanel bc I really like their foundations. When the tint came out I wasn't at all thinking it would work for me so I never paid much attention to it. But then when delving into this I found out about the Complexion touch that came out a bit later from Chanel. I'd tried to pick up the CG but was not finding any. So stopped by a Chanel counter & tried both the tint & touch. I have to say, they both were GORGEOUS 😍. I did untimely decide when ready I will buy the Touch. But in the meantime I'd decided today to look some more for the CG. Again tho no luck. I did happen to find 1 in "light", but pretty sure I need the L/M. A store was even looking everywhere, including the back room for what their system said they should have had, but nowhere to be found. Lol. Seems like tho they're getting ready to restock and start putting up on their walls so hopefully it will be more available soon. I'd at least like to have it until I can fit the Chanel into the budget. Lol

Also, I might have mentioned this here or elsewhere…I put some under my eyes on a whim (after corrector/concealer) and the improvement to my dark circles was unprecedented without looking like I had a 3rd layer on. For this I mixed it thoroughly first. When I do the rest of my face I blend as I go.

I bought the chanel in the round bottle that also has the little pigment drops (before the Cover Girl came out), and I'm still trying to make it work. Went ahead and used my extra bucks (I think it was a 25% off everything coupon) for the CG. Maybe it will work out. I bet the people who don't like the CG have oily skin?

First off, Jen you look soo pretty! 😍 now, the CG one seems to be one of those products that ppl either love or hate, I've watched a few reviews where they struggle to make it work over their skincare/primer/sunscreen, it pills or separates, etc., also, for some it applies better with their fingers whereas for others the brush works best. I'm curious about this product but I might wait for a sale or a coupon to give it a try 😏... Anyway, thnx for the review Jen, I trust you 100% 🤗 ... have a good one! hugzzz 💜

Great comparison and love that you address the price/marketing issue. The drugstore brands are definitely going after the consumer who wants the luxury experience but is not willing/able to pay the price. I'm sure these big companies do a lot of market research to determine the the highest price point the market will bear. Honestly, I'll bet the packaging on both of these skin tints costs the companies more than the product. If they are 70% water, that would put the price of the ingredients in the Chanel formula at over $200/oz. That said, we as consumers can decide what we feel is worth it to us.

This formula looks beautiful!! I’ve recently stopped wearing foundation, because it feels to heavy on my skin and I live in FL where it’s usually hot, so I just prefer skin tints. I’ve been wearing the Wet N Wild one for a while now and really like it, but I’m definitely trying this one because it seems like it will give a little more coverage, glow and hydration

Hi Jen, I am in my 60s And have been using Laura Geller that blends with your skin color. Doesn’t settle in wrinkles. How would the covergirl compare? It would be nice to have more moisture. Also would you recommend a one and done shadow that’s creamy but not to sparkles for my age. Thank You❤

Hi Jen. You know, I purchased the Chanel version last summer and barely used it. For me, I either like a foundation that gives a little more coverage, or Tula or Saie skin tints (more affordable than Chanel). Either way, whatever works for the wearer, right? Another great video Jen. Btw, they aren’t making Dollhouse 2.0 anymore. I contacted them and asked why, so they shipped the palette to me from their warehouse. Talk about customer service! To this day, it is still my fav palette (even over Denona and Mario). I told them it was you that introduced me to this palette.

Thanks for this comparison Jen! I totally agree with you about the drugstores raising their prices with any new release that's a possible dupe. I just checked at Shoppers Drug mart in Canada and the CG is 27.99CAD so with tax, over $30. I'll wait til it goes on sale. I'm curious to see how this wears on my very oily skin. 🙂

Nice comparison. Already bought the covergirl foundation. Question though, have you ever set it with a powder? I have it and it ended up looking cakey in parts. I don't like to be shiny in my t zone. Thanks Jen. Those colors looked beautiful on u. ❤

I just ordered mine from Ulta today. I'm 50 with a lot of fine lines and wrinkles from years of past smoking. Most foundations age me even more. I'm hoping this will be the one that finally doesn't. Thank you, Jen, for all you do and all the hard earned money you spend testing products out for us so we don't have to!
