Absolutely love this Cat. The helm is very well thought out!!! The enclosure for the cockpit is great. And everything is standard. The guy is good at showing the boat aswell. Needs more solar but that can always be done. Good choice for sure!!!
I agree. This boat has a lot going for it and with all the electrical demand you would need even more solar. Or just fire up the Generator for an hour or so before bed. Unless you are motoring and then you get the power from that.
Great video walkthrough! A couple of things Tamas did not mention (at least not on camera): the price is going up $50,000 with the next available hull, a 10% (v. 5% previously) deposit is required PLUS 100% cost of any additional options or upgrades; however, many items that were previously options or upgrades are now included in the base price, including a convertible saloon table, full helm enclosure (I think he mentioned this), the composite steering wheel, 16" (v. 12") Garmin chart plotter, Garmin AIS, the chain counter (mentioned), the electronic Yanmar controls (mentioned), the dishwasher, and Max-Prop 3-blade feathering props. Supposedly, Xquisite is also considering including flexiteek decking too. Based on pricing, this boat compares very favorably with a similarly equipped FP Saba 50. The only 2 negatives mentioned to me by others in comparing the X5 to the FP, Leopard and Lagoon 50' cats is the interior headroom and beam. I am 5'11 and even I had to be careful stepping down under the aft arch and in the forward part of the saloon. The cabins are very comfortable, but not as wide as on the FP or Lagoon 50's. On the otherhand, the X5 has much more storage available than the other 50's out there (at the price of crew accomodation -- the X5 is not intended for the charter market).
@@Bowmans-Woods I was just wondering, throughout your Atlantic crossing in this boat you said it was outside your budget but, if you haven't already done this, have you figured total costs of ownership from the day you buy it to the day you sell it? (Also, comparing similarly equipped boats, projected maintenance costs and resale value. That's a lot of work but considering the amount of money involved it would be very worthwhile for you both.) Xquisite X5, Great design and craftsmanship. Congrats on prestigious awards. . . Cruising World’s Most Innovative Sailboat 2017 Award. and Sail’s Best Multi-Hull over 50 Feet Award 2017
I never get tired of watching this video. Thanks for showing this Cat! If I ever have the funds for it, this definitely would be one of my top choices.
Wow! Impressive boat. They put a lot of thought into the design and making everything standard. I like how they included all the comms you'd need, as well as a modem for HF digital modes.
Yes, truly built with everything included to liveaboard. Thats why I had no problem quoting the price because the price is The Final Price. Unlike the mass production cats, Lagoon, Leopard and Fountaine Pajot where they give you a price but not much is included for that. I didn't want to quote prices for them in our episodes because the price is misleadingly low.
It is very nice and well kitted out to live on straight out of the factory. Nothing extra needed. We want a dive compressor on our future boat so that would be extra but it is already wired for that extra, so I have been told.

Yes. Rounded corners. So many nice features we didn't even mention the rounded corners on the cabinets. All the more Custom Cats including St Francis, Majestic 530, Antares 44, Maverick 440 etc put some actual craftsmanship into the interior wood and cabinetry. Its such a shame that the more production Cats of Lagoon, Leopard and Fountaine Pajot went to such cheap crappy cabinets and flooring. You get a 50' FP and then kit it out with everything you need to live on it and its gonna end up costing $1 million anyway. And then you are stuck with the cheap crappy IKEA fake wood cabinets and furniture. Sad. We may end up with a production Cat because those are the ones that end up being cheap on the used market and that might be all we can afford, but if we had the money we would go Custom builder.

It seemed to have a lot neat extras that you don't see on the competitor boats. Progressive thinking went into this boat. Too bad it is probably out of our price range.
Thanks John. Perhaps if all the stars allign at the right time we may be lucky enough to get a used X5 at a price we could afford. Only time will tell but after sailing it for 6,000 miles I have to say I am very very impressed.
Great boat, smart solutions and sea friendly design. Sharing the top of my list (I have a similar project as yourself). I'd add a platform for the dingy and diving; sitting space on the front deck and maybe remove those archs at aft - I think they are ugly and an extra place to knock your head when under pressure. That said, it was maybe the best guided walkthorugh I've watched... and I think I've seen most of the ones available for cats!
Thanks. No boat is perfect and if they add every available option the boat would probably be way too heavy. We like the rounded arches. It’s unique and modern. To each their own.
Was hoping you'd take the time to look into the Antares. I've been impressed with not only the looks and operation of the boat but their approach to the mechanicals and electrics as well.
We did see the Antares. It will be in an upcoming episode. We liked a lot about it but they are charging too much. $1.1 million for a 44' and it doesn't come with all the extras that a Majestic 530 (53') has or a St Francis 50' has. So you can get an Antares if you want a much smaller boat with less included for more money. It's probably not in our top 3 boats. If it was cheaper, to be closer to the other 44' boats, then we would like it more.
Totally awesome about the Atlantic crossing. I know it's already happened, but I haven't got there yet. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. Excellent series. Love your work. Rick
Love the smart innovations that make this stand out from the others in this class. Only thing I'd add... as in the Leopard 50 is a stern hydraulic landing... but this Cat' definitely got my vote... !
Hello Craig & Janice... I dropped by your YT channel on the off chance...your reviews and access to this market segment of cruising catamarans is fantastic...so at the risk of the long term cruising community laughing at my niave questions...here we go.. If a couple has deep $$ pockets..can they feasably and safely single/dual hand sail this class of vessel without cutting their teeth on smaller yachts first? Does it realistically require a long term training plan with a recognised yachting school IE crew ticket, skippers ticket.. blue water offshore navigation qualification etc. I am thinking the first year of ownership travelling up and down the East Coast of Australia Melbourne up to the Whitsunday Islands...have you covered "first timers" landlubbers in any of your videos? Cheers Rodders in Melbourne
Hey Rodders. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, if you take things slow, you can learn to sail a 40-50’ Cat with just a cruising couple on board. Prime example, look at the Wynns. They were RVers and had never owned a sailboat when they bought their 43’ Leopard and decided to travel full time by sailboat. Now, they were smart enough to know that they had zero sailing experience so they paid an instructor to come and give them sailing courses on their boat which gave them an increased speed in learning than if they just tried to learn on their own by reading books or watching RUclips video tutorials. There also may have been some benefit in their insurance rates because they now could say they passed some sort of instructional course. Unlike Cars where you NEED a license to get insurance to drive on the open roads, that is not really the case for boats. Look at Sailing LaVagabond. Riley bought his first monohull in the Med and had zero sailing experience when he bought it. He brought some friends on board that had a bit of experience and he learned by doing. When he met her in Greece he invited her to sail away with him and she also had no sailing experience. They sailed across oceans on that Mono before moving up to a 45’ Cat. All their sailing skills came from good old fashioned life experiences. So, yes, any able bodied couple that wants to spend the time to learn on their own boat could pick up all the skills to cross oceans. You seem like you have a good plan to stay in protected coastal waters at first. Get really good at sailing in those waters in all weather conditions before venturing off to cross an ocean and even then I think it would be a smart move to cross an ocean with other “buddy boats” or as part of an ARC. That way if you are half way across and have serious boat malfunctions you have a body boat that can come assist you. When we live on a Cat full time in 3-4 years we will do the same. Probably stay in the Caribbean for 6 months to a year and enjoy exploring that beautiful area and then do our first big passage with extra crew onboard and preferably with a buddy boat or 2 going on the same passage. There is always safety in numbers. Once we get a ton of miles under our keels and we know the boat inside out and backward we can then start doing longer passages with just the 2 of us. Slow and steady wins the race or in this case keeps you alive. Hope that helps. Best of luck in the future cruising. Craig
Craig, great opportunity to sail the Atlantic with DS. Should provide you with very good experience of ocean crossing on a catamaran re motion comfort and speed. I've sailed Cape Town to USVI on a monohull and I am looking forward to your videos of your experience on the catamaran. Enjoy. Taking the mavic pro I'm sure for mid ocean video? Cya.
Thanks. Yes, this will be my first Ocean Crossing and to do it in a Cat (our proposed future style of boat) is perfect. I'd have done it with the Shards even if it was on their monohull but I am soooo glad it will be on a 50' Cat. Of course the Mavic is coming with me and I will film with it when I can. Im in Spain for 10 days and then the Canary Islands for 4 before we sail so there should be some time to fly. Spain seems to only allow you to fly in rural environments (No Urban, at least that is what i have read about their laws say so, that may crimp my flights a fair bit when there. Which is a shame because we have an AirBnB in Barcelona that has a Rooftop Terrace so that would have been a perfect spot to take off and land and show the beauty of the area. Good for tourism, right? But Governments don't think like that.
As far as I know from Denmark where I live and in most European countries, flying in Urban areas requires a dronce certificate plus notifying the local authorities (police) 24 hours prior to your flight. And of course, no people overhead flying. In adition to that, some countries don't allow foreigners flying in Urban areas even if they carry a drone certificate which is attained at the country they come from.
*This is it I'm done looking, thanks for your efforts I still remember last years edition lol. 1.2 is a bargain for this type of quality only thing missing is a scuba tank compressor.*
I met one of the owners at the Miami Beach Boat show. He was a marine engineer and a pilot. His description why he bought the boat solidifies why Xquisite is so rock solid.
it' great that the Saona 47 is next to Xquisite to compare quality. There is a ridiculous amount of room in the engine room. I climbed in and compared across all cats too. It really is a fantastic boat.
I am the owner of Phoenix Catamarans that produces the X5 in South Africa. Hi we are busy launching boat 5. Engine room is even better. Sound insulation foam is better seated. Extra steps down to lowest level with non slip platform to work on. Even space to read the manuals :)
Ya. We both love this cat. It's probably 1/2 million more than we wanted to spend so it is doubtful that we could get one but you never know. Maybe a used one comes up and its not quite so much of a stretch. OR perhaps I have a Rich relative that I don't know about and I get an inheritance? ha ha. We can always dream.
Thanks. All that can be found on the Xquisite website. I don't work for the company so anyone that is interested in any boat we walkthrough, should check with the builder's website. We are here just to give a walkthrough introduction and, if its a boat that impresses you, then you do more research from there on your own.
OK. We love this cat, the interior colours are great, very modern and different. we would not change a thing, is a couple of extras that we would add still, but amazing boat. I want to buy one, just need to convince my wife. 😊 One thing, I would be intrested to know if any reviews on how it sails and preforms ??.
On our Transatlantic I met an owner of Hull #1 in St Lucia. He is really happy with his and he said it is rock solid and sails really well. Considering it is not designed for speed like an Outremer or other Cat with daggerboards.
This is a much higher quality build than a Leopard. There is a delivery captain on board with us on the last leg from Brazil to the Caribbean and he has delivered many Leopards and he said it is not even a close comparison in terms of quality construction. Totally kitted out for full time liveaboard with similar systems as the X5, a Leopard 50' would be a similar price too. So if you have that kind of cash, I'd go X5 every time.
Cruising Off Duty thanks for the info! Was checking out Happy togethers boat! Pretty sweet setup as well. I like the look of the x5 and the space of the Leopard. If you purchase an x5 can you sail with the delivery captain from South Africa? Then you could learn from a pro.
Yes you can do that. It cost about $200-250 USD per day for the captain so it can be quite expensive to have him with you for the whole trip but it certainly can be done.
Very, very nice boat. Seaworthy and performance but super luxurious. All the option packages are on their website and are very awesome. The dive package even includes tanks! For $1.3 million it'd be nice if they included a sun pad on the bow though... Like to see an option for a square hard top bimini w/ 1-3 solar panels, separate from the optional solar package on the targa. Wind generators would be nice option. Bet in a few years they'll offer a hybrid drivetrain model like the Maverick 440. Option a Carbon mast and boom?
It is a nice dream. May have to settle for something cheaper, but the dream of sailing around the world will still happen even if it is not on an X5. :-)
Great looking boat. Only thing I don’t like are the showers in the guest cabin. I’d like it if they were completely closed off instead of the shower being in the same space as the bed.
I'd like a layout option with the master hull mirrored for the guest hull. They should modify the table height so you can put a cushion on the lowered table for a couch bed.
Hi, Janice and Craig , very nice channel, I am catching up with all your episodes in past few weeks. so, after two years, are you still recommend this Xquisite X5 as the best catamaran?
Pretty damn sweet. The Majestic 530 that is coming up in the next episode is pretty much tied as to our #1 boat. We like it for different reasons than the Xquisite. So check it out before you say for sure which one you want. Im guessing the wife may like the Majestic more. :-)
Ditch the fly-bridge entirely and put the helm at the front of the salon like a Gunboat and it would be perfect! Looks a little small for a 50, for some reason, but beautiful design and attention to detail.
Luckily you can do some navigation and course changes electronically from the comfort of anywhere you want to sit with the iPad and wireless controls so you can stay dry and comfortable. 😁. Don’t worry we would never opt for a fly bridge helm. Too exposed.
I see that iPad as a potential single point of failure, tbh - what if you lose it overboard, or its battery becomes degraded so you can't charge it? Does the boat essentially just have a web server on its local wifi that you could potentially use another iPad (or your phone?) to link into the boat's systems, given the correct credentials?
Yes. It like a Bluetooth system. If you have another device you can mirror it or change so a new iPad should your break or freakishly fall overboard. You need to be pretty clumsy to throw you nav station iPad all the way into the ocean. Ha ha. But in that 1 in a million chance you won’t be stuck. 👍
I can se why you love this cat so much, absolutely awesome. If your serious about wanting one they have one for sale now 2012 model only $700,000 US, I just wish I had the money for it now.
An Xquisite 2012? I dont think they were even making this model back then? The model they had at the show last year was mold #2. So it was only their second boat built. The one they are trying to sell new now is #5. The one you see from 2012 is some other boat. Maybe similar but not the same.
The current X5 design was originally built by Deans Catamarans in Cape Town as the Dean 5000 but they went out of business, Tomas, the salesman was a customer of Deans so he knew the original boat very well. When Deans went under, he stepped in with some investment I believe then using his experience of the design, made some minor improvements. www.yachtworld.com/boats/2012/Dean-5000-3158853/British-Virgin-Islands?refSource=browse%20listing#.W0tT34hx3r4
Nice work, very well done. Next time ask how long they can spend with you. 14k subscribers and 100k views isn't chump change. I wish they'd hang the TV where you could flip it up out of the way instead of taking up a huge cabinet to store. In addition you can swivel it to any direction.
Good question. Depends on engine hours and a lot of factors. That is a question for a builder, if you can find one that will give you an honest answer.
I said it elsewhere but the X5 is an inherited design from the Dean Catamarans 5000 (now out of business). I love this boat and would gladly sell my soul to the devil if it meant I could own one.
Beautiful boat. Wouldn't all the electronics and gadgetry scare you a little? When (not if) something breaks it would be next to impossible to find parts or a qualified technician. I love the tech stuff too, but in a boat I'd be on in the middle of the ocean, I think I'd actually prefer more analog stuff.
Like he said, all the IPad does is monitor the switching system. If it goes down then you still have the good old fashioned wires and switches in the wall. I get what you are saying. The more bells and whistles on a boat, the more things to eventually bread down. Very true but if we take that too far we would have no engines, no refrigeration and light our cabin with oil lamps like the old days. I'm a techy so I like that stuff. Even if it does eventually break, I'll love it while it works. :-)
Hi I am the owner of Phoenix Catamarans that produces the X5 in South Africa. A tonned down version can be an option , however the idea was to offer a 'bells and whistles' boat as often add ons done later are not the same as fitting them all in factory at beginning. eg we fit extra plug and fitting points for underwater lights , front facing sonars ,etc - even client does not take them initially
Congratulations for your X5 boat, Mr. Johns. Amazing features. I´m a great fan of South African cats, as years ago they predicted the comfort and liveaboard wishes of sailors for ocean crossings. I just wish my plans go how they shoud to aloud me to get into this world as soon as possible.
Cheapest Way? Look for an old boat that needs a lot of work and pick it up for next to nothing. But be prepared to spend a lot of your time and elbow grease getting it ship shape. No such thing as a super cheap boat in pristine shape.
I have the impression, this is cat version of the philosophy behind the Amel boats (e.g. the solid railing). It might be a bit underpowered, when I'm taking into account what the folks from Cat Greatcircle once said, they have 2x110 hp on a Lagoon 52S. I hope I manage to get to the Duesseldorf Boat show and take a look myself - I hope they're there... :-) For me, it's just a dream boat, though - unless I win the lottery. ;-)
Ya. There is room for some improvement but overall a well thought out boat. I'm sure you could put cushions on the front deck if you really wanted to lay out there.
Two things I dont like are the shelving along the outside wall and the windows. -Anything you put on the walls there will be on the floor in heavy swells. It should have been smooth or paneled closet space. -The windows on a million dollar yacht dont have a low voltage privacy? Instead you have to deal with a clunky antiquated shade? Push a switch and make the windows opaque. Or better yet install two way mirror with the opaque glass inside. Mirror on the outside with privacy inside.
perhaps it is a modification they did after your comment. But they do offer the electrochromatic windows. Go to xquisiteyachts.com/x5-standard/features , select the Saloon and check the top most +
Michael Buck I LOVE this BOAT, obviously VERY well thought out and engineered, great layout, hi-tech, love the redundancy, backups, all the small touches that make it well thought out and pleasant, etc... However, cats like the Leopard are VERY nice and very reasonable priced cruising Sailboats, they get WHOLESALE mass quotes on parts, resin, etc... and pass the discounts on to the buyer. A first time Boat Maker like Xquisite, they started in 2014, and this model is their first 50, will be more expensive because they are NEW and dont have the buying power or reputation like Lagoon or Leopard. The higher price covers their high wholesale costs as well as the other companies supplying them parts don't know them as well. Also, I am concerned about parts availability, and fixing issues, there are ALWAYS issues on a new model. Most Brokers don't recommend this boat yet as it's not a proven company, usually need to wait until the 10th hull and see how their supply chain works. I know they provide premier service and will come to you to fix the problems all over the world, but I would NEED to see that proven for a few years, sounds great, but buyer beware...Hopefully Leopard and Lagoon will look at this design and incorporate a similar layout in their boats. Maybe in 3-5 years this model will be down to 500K and reachable by a larger group of people.
The $1.2M is pretty good, but the main part that worries me is typically boats coat 8-10% per year. Having $100K to operate it annually is the hardest part.
Ya. I dream of being able to afford one of these also. Not looking good at this moment but, hey, who knows. Maybe I have some long lost rich relative I don't know about who is going to bequeath be a "boat load" of money. Pun sort of intended. ;-)
They say with electric you don't get the speed and range that they want to be able to do Ocean Crossings, so at this stage of electric technology, they are not planning to go that route. Maybe down the road.
Oh, Im sure. This is a boat (X5) is built for liveaboard use vs FP and Lagoon which are mass production boats often built for charter and non liveaboard. Im sure the X5 has more craftsmanship put into each boat produced.
Absolutely love this Cat. The helm is very well thought out!!! The enclosure for the cockpit is great. And everything is standard. The guy is good at showing the boat aswell. Needs more solar but that can always be done. Good choice for sure!!!
And the rainwater collection. So awesome
However , daggerboards would be good.

Even an option for solar panels on the targa which doubles your panels.
Beautiful interior! makes the tour well worth watching.
It is a very beautiful boat.
Rick
Glad you are getting through the episodes in order. No rush. The later episodes will still be there when you get there. :-) . Thanks for watching.
What an amazing Catamaran! Great video guys!!
Thanks Roger.
Thanks for the tour!
No problem. Thanks for watching and writing in.
Encourage Tomas to make more videos well done!
I have now seen this ep several times. This is the boat for me. End of😊
If we could afford it, that would be our next boat, for sure.
Very informative vid, good job guys, bravo!
Thanks Martial.
Love the smart innovations that make this stand out from the others in this class.
Only thing I'd add... as in the Leopard 50 is a stern hydraulic landing...
but this Cat' definitely got my vote... !
It is nice. Prob out of our price range but one can dream.
Craig
Thanks Craig.... I look forward to seeing your next adventure...cheers Rodders
Wow. Only thing I didn't see was a remote drone launching pad, Lol Great looking boat.
Ha Ha. Im surprised he didn't say a drone pops out of the roof and it comes standard.
Love the guys from DS. That will be a great experience for you. I'm jealous....Looking forward to following.
It will be a Great Experience and I will be happy to share the adventure with all of you.
Very nice 👊 These guys are on their game I may have to take a look at it from the privilege because this sounds like a great boat-
Craig, great opportunity to sail the Atlantic with DS.
I think u found our boat. Wow it wasn’t even on our radar. Now to find the money.
You and me both. Searching the couch cushions for anything to get closer to that dream boat. ha ha
Isn’t this a $1.3 million dollar boat? I would love to buy one used in a decade or two 😜
*This is it I'm done looking, thanks for your efforts I still remember last years edition lol. 1.2 is a bargain for this type of quality only thing missing is a scuba tank compressor.*
Tigersmundo it has one onboard. In the aft bench. Room for 4 tanks too. When you get it I’ll crew for you. Dm me
I met one of the owners at the Miami Beach Boat show.
Yes. It is very impressive and the Engine room was impressively well laid out with lots of room and shelves for putting fluids.
I am the owner of Phoenix Catamarans that produces the X5 in South Africa. Hi we are busy launching boat 5. Engine room is even better. Sound insulation foam is better seated. Extra steps down to lowest level with non slip platform to work on. Even space to read the manuals :)
Janice's sounds of excitement made me laugh.. She really likes that Cat.. Its a super cat.. Super price.. Worth it if it's in your budget. :)
Ya. We both love this cat. It's probably 1/2 million more than we wanted to spend so it is doubtful that we could get one but you never know. Maybe a used one comes up and its not quite so much of a stretch. OR perhaps I have a Rich relative that I don't know about and I get an inheritance? ha ha. We can always dream.
next time leave the stupid mouse on shore .you can get a better one in the next port.
The guy giving them the tour Tamas Hamor is actually the owner of Exquisite Yachts
That is true.
Wow. He definitely knows his boat
I´m in love with this Catamaran!!
Us too.
The maintenance logs/reminders programmed into to the tablet. Nice!
It is cool. Very organized.
It's a nice boat. Great video thanks.
Thanks Geoff
What a amazing cat looks like I will need to up my budget when I go boat shopping. 😊
Yes. It's out of our budget but if we had the money it would be at the top of our shopping list.
🥰 i will get one of these one day!
Great video. Draft? Speed stats. Pointing? Heat? Warranty? One stop warranty or you call Lewmar etc.?
Thanks. All that can be found on the Xquisite website. I don't work for the company so anyone that is interested in any boat we walkthrough, should check with the builder's website. We are here just to give a walkthrough introduction and, if its a boat that impresses you, then you do more research from there on your own.
Awesome boat. I'm sold. Now I just need 1.2 million dollars.
Ya, you and me both. ha ha
You bought one didn’t you?
I think I've found a new love for the word Standard
It is nice. I like things being Standard as well.
How would this boat compare to the leopard 50? I'd love to see a video on that. Thank you!
That guyreally knows his stuff
Ya. He does. I think he is one of the owners who has a lot to say about the design and features.
With time most builders do progress and improve. Just a matter og if you want to wait for new technology to get your boat.
What an amazing boat!
Yes. Quite nice.
wow a beauty , other than the toe stubber hatches on deck , she does check off all the boxes .
And same price range as Neal 51 with fiberglass walls
It is an awesome looking boat, inside and out with tons of innovative features. Just wish it was in our budget.
Wow your right. I'm sold. I'll put that on my Christmas list for Santa. He better get a bigger bag
Ha Ha. Yes. bigger sleigh and about a dozen more reindeer.
A handsome guy, a wonderful woman, and a boat do live. Looks, to me, they are searching paradise!
It is a nice dream. May have to settle for something cheaper, but the dream of sailing around the world will still happen even if it is not on an X5. :-)
Xcellent I loved it !!
Hey, you should take a look at the o-yachts, just be curious... thanks...
Great looking boat. Only thing I don’t like are the showers in the guest cabin. I’d like it if they were completely closed off instead of the shower being in the same space as the bed.
I hear ya. Separate showers would be preferred.
I'd like a layout option with the master hull mirrored for the guest hull. They should modify the table height so you can put a cushion on the lowered table for a couch bed.
Xquisite put this episode on their Facebook page. Too bad I can't click like every time I watch.
Great. I did not know they did that. Thanks for the info and the desire to keep hitting like with each new viewing. Ha Ha.
That's gorgeous!!
It is a nice looking boat, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Probably not for everyone.
Are you going to make larger boats in the future , such as 70?..
I doubt they will make a 70. But you should email them. I don't work for Xquisite.
Hi, Janice and Craig , very nice channel, I am catching up with all your episodes in past few weeks. so, after two years, are you still recommend this Xquisite X5 as the best catamaran?
I just crossed an Ocean on one. So yes.
Wow. Is there a video of that crossing?
Looks like an amazing cat!! WOW!
Yes. Too bad it’s out of our price range but it will be nice to live on during my upcoming passage.
WOW! just wow! I know which one I want! :)
Man I want this boat!
I think you found my next boat!
Super boat!
Just hope they're not twice the price of comparable boats. Very nice, I could see myself on one of these.
It was impressive. 1.2m may be out of my price range but it is nice to dream.

I like the video, but how tall is the Galley area? I am 6'2" and wonder how much I would be bumping my head..
Neil was on our voyage and he is your height and it was plenty high for him.
Nice work, very well done. Next time ask how long they can spend with you. 14k subscribers and 100k views isn't chump change. I wish they'd hang the TV where you could flip it up out of the way instead of taking up a huge cabinet to store. In addition you can swivel it to any direction.
Thanks. You didn't like the TV that pops up? I thought that was pretty cool. Plus it is protected in there from getting knocked around when underway.
Thanks. You didn't like the Pop up TV? I thought it was pretty cool and a good place to protect the TV while underway.
I have a suggestion. Fit the salesperson with a wireless mic. Will really help with audio when others are talking on the boat.
A wireless mic would help. Just running and gunning at the shows. We are getting a guide who could be selling to others so we have to film quickly.
Olá Craig e Janice, Estamos Curtindo Seus Vídeos no Canal, existe Catamarã de Alumínio hoje em Dia agente Sabe é de Vibra...
Ola. Thats about all the Spanish I know. But, thanks, I think?
whats the life span before rebuild of the sail drive ?
Good question. Depends on engine hours and a lot of factors. That is a question for a builder, if you can find one that will give you an honest answer.
I said it elsewhere but the X5 is an inherited design from the Dean Catamarans 5000 (now out of business). I love this boat and would gladly sell my soul to the devil if it meant I could own one.
Yes. I like it too and I know it was a Dean Mould. Thanks
Nice boat. Time to work some overtime.
Ha Ha. Yes. Work 80 hr weeks and I should be able to afford it. ha ha
I like this boat too. Nice choice if you buy this. 😀
If we could afford it, We probably would. But, as things stand we have to be realistic that it is probably out of our budget.
Have you ever looked at a "Dean 5000" catamaran this yacht seems to be based on it.
This X5 was developed from the Dean mold that went out of business years ago.
Does the rain catchment system have its own tank?
I don’t know. I will ask when I’m on it soon. 👍😁. Good question.
Well, they certainly put a LOT of thought in building this catamaran. I didn't see a single thing that I didn't like.
Electronics are modular.
Example: Screen stops working, they unplug it, take it out, put new one in, push the power button.
WOW...............Even if their boat can be beat it would have to be something
Yes. Its got a lot going for it.
This man is proud of his company and boat ,,just alttle katty 🐆🐅🥇
What is the cheapest way to get a great new boat to live on?
Cheapest Way? Look for an old boat that needs a lot of work and pick it up for next to nothing. But be prepared to spend a lot of your time and elbow grease getting it ship shape. No such thing as a super cheap boat in pristine shape.
Epic awesome ... let’s get this party 🎊 was started 🙌🌬🌬⛵️⛵️🌬🌬🙌
:-) It would be nice to party on that boat.
Cruising Off Duty certainly would ; (personally) I like the Neel 45 / 51
Cruising Off Duty certainly would ; (personally) I like the Neel 45 / 51
I have the impression, this is cat version of the philosophy behind the Amel boats (e.g. the solid railing).
It might be a bit underpowered, when I'm taking into account what the folks from Cat Greatcircle once said, they have 2x110 hp on a Lagoon 52S.
I hope I manage to get to the Duesseldorf Boat show and take a look myself - I hope they're there... :-)
For me, it's just a dream boat, though - unless I win the lottery. ;-)
Thanks. It is a Lottery Dream for us as well.
Flush hatches would be one thing they could improve on. That and a little better seating up front unless it just wasn't shown properly in the vid..
Ya. There is room for some improvement but overall a well thought out boat. I'm sure you could put cushions on the front deck if you really wanted to lay out there.
Going to looking at this boat.
I am sure you will be impressed.
Probably right. I’m sure you could install a front raised edge so stuff you put there does not slide off.
perhaps it is a modification they did after your comment. But they do offer the electrochromatic windows. Go to xquisiteyachts.com/x5-standard/features , select the Saloon and check the top most +
If only I had that million! Sweet boat! I fully accept my lot in life but still is hard to watch. Wishing sucks
I know. It is hard to love a boat and know you can't afford it.
Can you buy just the shell of the boat? Build your own cabinetry and what not?
Michael Buck
I LOVE this BOAT, obviously VERY well thought out and engineered, great layout, hi-tech, love the redundancy, backups, all the small touches that make it well thought out and pleasant, etc...
I agree. To be confident that the company will stand the test of time they probably need to have a few more years of quality production.
The $1.2M is pretty good, but the main part that worries me is typically boats coat 8-10% per year. Having $100K to operate it annually is the hardest part.
What a boat saving my Sheckles for one of these puppies
I hear that. I need to save a LOT of shekels.
Maybe one day I will be able to get one of these , and quit playing with my dinghy!
Ya. I dream of being able to afford one of these also. Not looking good at this moment but, hey, who knows. Maybe I have some long lost rich relative I don't know about who is going to bequeath be a "boat load" of money. Pun sort of intended. ;-)
Coolest Catamaran EVER
I know. We love that Cat. We can't afford it, but that doesn't stop our love. ha ha
I have a question, why are electric motors not used in place of the diesel. There should be a lot benefits going electric.
They say with electric you don't get the speed and range that they want to be able to do Ocean Crossings, so at this stage of electric technology, they are not planning to go that route. Maybe down the road.
Thanks, maybe by the time I’m able to afford a boat they’ll have made the necessary advancements 🧐
Really don't like how it looks, but seems well designed and great to live on! And like my Grandpa would say... when you're in it, you don't see it!
You will get to see a lot of it on my passage so hopefully it is as well built as it seems. For my sake. 😜
dear reviwers can you please always start with walkaround the boat from outside?
You mean walk the deck first before going below?
@@Bowmans-Woods facepalm. you spent too much on the sun i suspect. i was clearly talking about boat exterior!
I tried this beautiful boat in 2016 in France on the Mediterranean.
Very better than Lagoon or Fountain Pajeot.
Oh, Im sure. This is a boat (X5) is built for liveaboard use vs FP and Lagoon which are mass production boats often built for charter and non liveaboard. Im sure the X5 has more craftsmanship put into each boat produced.
And the X5 is sailing very well ...
