  • We're super stoked to bring you the Channel Islands Dumpster Diver 2 surfboard, an update on the legendary original shape from a few years ago.
    Available here: www.boardshop....
Channel Islands have collaborated with Dane Reynolds to bring the first Dumpster Diver up to date; Dane aimed to create a stretched-out version with a modernized nose, other design changes included retemplating the tail, while the rocker and concave remained unchanged, introducing a new/modernized tuck. Available in standard PU or the all new White Spinetek this board is going to be huge.
The original Dumpster Diver is considered one of the best small to medium wave performance shortboards that worked in a wide range of conditions, it didn't mind a bit of wind which is great for UK surfers! The Dumpster Diver 2 features a wider nose and tail, more nose and tail rocker, and a deeper but subtle single concave. This along with a few more tweaks means the board to excels in a wider range of conditions than the original whilst letting push the board even harder.
The DD 2 is classified as a step down or groveler style board but for most surfers it'll cover 80% of the waves you'll come across, pair with a performance shorty and you're covered for everything pretty much.
This stunner of a surfboard is going to have a very broad fan base, a decent first shortboard in bigger sizes through to a go to board for the seasoned surfer.

Hey Ian, thx for the review. Where do you see the wave range (particularly upper end) for this beauty?

Wave range for this stunner is about knee to shoulder / head high, can handle some pretty powerful surf too! not necessarily pumping barrels but good in wedge styled waves or more critical beach breaks...

How does this compare to the phantom for manouvability?

How would you say it compares to the neckbeard 2? I should add that I didn’t like the Happy Everyday but did love the original neckbeard just wondering where this fits in.

Much better than the Neckbeard 2, more performance based. I really liked the original Neckbeard too but didn't like the Neckbeard 2 much, it was ok as a quad. The DD2 is my all time favourite board now and goes best with pivot fins unless it is steep and fast.

There's some similarities between the two models, with the DD2 it has a wider nose and tail, more nose and tail rocker, and a more subtle single concave than the original. These updates, among other tweaks, allow the board to excel in a wider range of conditions , which then crosses over with the Happy Everyday, however the kind of conditions the HE works well in are where you want to rip and aren’t feeling the groveler vibes, and at the same time maybe not quite the epic stuff you would use your high performance shortboard for. To achieve this goal, Britt shortened the rail to create a curvier outline, especially through the tail area. For both the entry and exit rockers he lowered them to increase paddle and planing speeds to cover a broader range of conditions

@@BoardshopUK So which one would go better?

I was not a fan of the rocker in the HE, just did not respond how I would have expected despite looking like a great board under the arm. I subsequently got rid of it. Loved the original Neckbeard, I’m imagining the DD2 would be similar.
