Me thinks "TeslaBjorn" soon to be "MercBjorn" 😜👍😃
@@williammillard687 Definitely has more of a ring to it!!!
Dear Bjorn, just want you and Mercedes Benz know that after your videos about EQS 580, today I went to the Mercedes Garage to buy a grey graphite 580+ Matic. Keep up your great work and thanks again for your tips and your dedication.
Great choice
@@jmz388 absolutely. would be great if car makers realize how important is for us to have this kind of tests on youtube.
pics or it didn't happen :P jk
I think the interface has been setup for voice control over manual control. It would be very had to hit the right button when driving.
Sorry Björn, I don't want to antagonize you but about the usage of Wh/km vs. kWh/100km, just my 2cts. about that: how are measuring the consumption in an ICE vehicle and how are you paying your electrical bill, in which units? Just an idea...
You are used to W and km as units. And the energy consumption is measured in Wh/km. Do you measure distance from two cities in X*100 km? No.
@@bjornnyland 🤣 here we go again. I see and accept your point of view BUT then the measure of choice would be km/Wh. Right? It's like miles/gallon vs. liter/100km
@@alexandergunda8916 his comparison lacks nuance. Charging is expressed in kW, bills in currency/kWh, battery size in kWh.
kWh/km would result in consumption being expressed as 0,xxx (same problem would occur with L/km) and therefore it makes sense (cleaner look) to use kWh/100 km.
Actually makes more sense to me to use kWh/100 km. Charging is normally talked about in kW, battery capacity in kWh and and long trips in hundreds of km so the calculations are more intuitive with kWh/100 km (besides the fact that most people are accustomed to thinking consumption in L/100 km).
Old fossil mindset to use /100 km. You are already using W and km as units. Once you understand what Wh/km means, you will agree with me.
@@bjornnyland you're brushing over the fact that energy bills are quoted in currency/kWh, charging in kW and battery size in kWh.
Using /100 km is a tactic to not having to express the consumption in 0,xxx (in the case of kWh/km).
What exactly is it about Wh/km that makes it optimal?
@@thorsev6960 Tesla uses it.
Really loving all the settings you can change in this car! Not limiting the user to a very basic settings menu, but you can really personalize to how you like it. In 2 days I will have my 5h long EQS testdrive this video helps me prepare for it :)
I found the part where you started pressing the passenger seat hilarious :D
Embarassing how laggy it is for this price :-(
Really interesting hoping the EQE will be similar software
How do you enable the heated steering wheel?
76 km extra with Eco climate seems like a lot, would have been fun to see what it does. I guess you'll test that when you get the car. 😁
What can you do with this during charging when all settings are done?
Hyper Hyper Endgegner Bjørn! 🤩
Such a fantastic interface! Everything is configurable! Is there a "drive to the line" visual trip consumption planner like Tesla has? Makes it really easy to manage your consumption over a trip! PS It's called "What Three Words" for global positioning Bjorn and great review as usual. Thank you.
Look like Tesla one 8 years ago.
@44:15 Have you checked the stalks or behind the steering wheel or bottom of the steering column?
Would be very suprised if there is no button or switch to just turn the heated steering wheel on.
A different model had in on the tip of the left stalk at the steering wheel.
Great video! What3words is the three worded location finder
You have unfortunately forgotten THE most important life saving feature of the car, rear airbags option 302! Why just on S class??????
This is tway too many options for an iPhone user. :D
Wish you could change the main colour to something else but blue because blue colour is the most annoying one during night time.
Its called "What3words"
Why didn’t you do the route once in one language and then edit with voice over in the other?
Not the same. It wouldn't be as authentic.
Can you listen to the radio with all the screens off
There is no frunk, because there is a powerful air filter system. It shows you Ppm outside and after filtering inside the car. It works fine.
I really doubt somebody buying a MB is gonna be a tech head configuring their car like this in a Garmin v2.5 UI
This har has some amazing and super luxurious features, but the configuration on these screens.... OMG with these car companies? Are they trying to make it purposefully complicated to discourage people from touching them ? :P Or most likely... they still think it's 2010 :P
You can buy this car without all those screens, and the base model with wooden panels looks better than this one
Garmin 2.5
That car costs 150 000 € in Finland!
@@abraxastulammo9940 What do you mean? I meant that the car is insanely expensive!
@@abraxastulammo9940 No. Difference is due to VAT (24%), small car tax (few thousand eur that will be scrapped end of 2021 or beginning of 2022 to encourage people to purchase more EVs). Importer/MB might have their cut and also base model versions are differently specced between countries, ie. there are some accessories/options as standard that are optional in some other country and vice versa. But overall, usually if you look at tax free (no VAT or other taxes) prices, there's always a small gap to other countries within EU.
Don't like the "light pollution". To each their own. Sometimes less is more.
Then you turn off the interior lights man..
@@mortenknutsen1981 an expensive feature to have to turn off🤣
48:40 linking climate controls all the time it might waste valuable energy if you are not aware, so they might have purposely done that.
I remember learnign this glare effect in Photoshop...15 years ago. Really incredible that car of this price range has interface that looks like potato. I can't understand how this happens.
why did you bother learning to draw a potato then?
Its a bit over the top for me.
a shame how laggy the zoom in the navigation is
The general interior design is beautiful, but the UI is just awful... visually its a decade out of date, fonts are mismatched, laggy. Some advice to OEMs: However much compute you think you need for infotainment, double it.
i would consider to blur out your home adress
I have shown my home address since 2013. Not a problem at all.
Alrighty 🤷😄
The UI looks like its from 2009, it feels so old fashion.
I like it. I mean it like flat minimalistic designs, but at some point those get boring.
Yes! This feels like early Samsung TouchWiz and Windows XP mixed together
@@naarealy nah more windows 7 with the whole "aero" thing.
I do hope they keep it, i don't like that everything has the same flat material design.
But if you judge it objectivly, yes flat material design is what is at the moment seen as the most modern.
@@tzarcoal1018 There's a happy balance. Humans intuitively understand 3d objects, but mimicking physical objects on 2d media like a screen makes objects feel bulky or implausible. The pendulum swung pretty hard in favor of a completely flat UI design a few years ago. We will likely see this trend moderate and a happy balance achieved.
I can't wait for you to review new S/X refresh interface with PS5 level computing power. MBUX or anything else are already obsolete. Yeah, "obsolete" would be the correct word in comparison.
@@abraxastulammo9940 That is an AI CPU for autonomous driving . What I am talking about is the CPU for infotaintment. No car has PS5 level computing power for interface, not even remotely close, except S/X refresh.
@@teknikbil where do you have the information from that the "PS5 Power" is only used for Infortainment? I am pretty sure that this is not the case and the CPU is used for everything in the S/X refresh....
Windows Vista is back
I really don’t like it. Looks like Windows Vista Media Player.
Very laggy as well. Why is it so hard to make a smooth interface?
yeah we all needed rgb led turbine vents like a piece of bread. cheap looking eyecandy shit.
Looks terrible, surprising it did not have gold toilet in there too.
Your mama looks terrible!
it's sooo ugly imo
Did you know that Mercede's MBUX is largely developed in China, especially its its AI features? Also, the crucial self-driving hardware and software are also developed in China, in partnership with Baidu and other Chinese firms. Oh, and the EQS's battery is from CATL, yet another Chinese company. This car is mostly Chinese by component cost. Winter is coming for the German car industry... It's almost too late.
BS at its best! Proof of that claim except for the battery, "Dr." Anderson?
Totally wrong :)
This is nonsense. Battery is from CATL and Tesla's model 3 is from CATL too. And all other information is wrong.
While it's true they've signed a cooperation agreement with Baidu on autonomous driving,
they've also partnered with bosch for their autonomous driving features.
Since 2020 they've partnered with Nvidia too.
Most of their software is developed in their tech hub in Sindelfingen (Germany)
@@andrekoniger3020 In case you didn't know, Bosch and Nvidia are both part of Baidu's Apollo autonomous driving platform. Many OEMs and suppliers have joined Baidu's Apollo and adopted its standards and self-driving code, including Volkswagen, Daimler/Mercedes, BMW/Mini, Ford/Lincoln, Honda/Accura, Toyota/Lexus, Hyundai/Kia, Nio, BYD, Jaguar/Land Rover, Volvo, Lotus, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall, Bosch, Continental, ZF, Nvidia, Infineon, Delphi, NXP, Intel/Mobieye, Microsoft, and dozens of others just to name a few. If your car has auto-pilot/driver assistance features and is less than four years old, then it very probably already runs on Baidu's code and standards. In only four short years, Baidu has become by far the largest player in the autonomous driving game, and its tech is absolutely cutting-edge and industry leading.
