- We've been waiting for one the oldest car brand in the world to come out with their first dedicated electric car and for 2022, it arrives in America in the form of this #MercedesEQS450 and #MercedesEQS580. With a large 108 kWh battery pack, the #MercedesEQS is capable of up to 350 miles on a full charge, can DC Fast Charge up to 80% in just 31 mins, and can sprint to 60 in as little as 4 seconds. For those of you who want more speed, you can wait for the #EQSAMG coming next year which should shave that time by a second. Its a near perfect blend of luxury, electrification, and tech with tis massive 56.7" hyper screen.

PLEASE!! Turn on the lights (headlights & turn signals mainly) on the vehicles when doing the walk around. I like seeing how the lights look when they’re on rather than just looking at them off

Honestly I think this is a very promising start for Mercedes to get into the electric space, I feel like if they had a better exterior design this would be significantly better than the Tesla in many ways. But I’m excited to see an EQC whenever they get around to developing it

One of the best parts of this review is Sofyan saying if you miss a turn with the augmented reality then your just a bad driver. Almost missed the off ramp then misses the turns 😏😂
Honestly im a fan. The exterior aint the best (especially that plastic grille in the front) but its the interior and performance that matter the most and this seems very cool and effective. The ambient lighting touches are awesome and the sound options are fun.

I think the proportions will grow on people with time. At the end of the day, most customers just want the status of something that looks expensive and new.
That's true, and Mercedes needs to make sure these are quality and refined to death because that is their trump card over Tesla which is junk in it's build but has superior range and performance.
I find this interesting. That’s the difference between someone who is wealthy and someone who wants to pretend to be wealthy. I always notice middle class and poor people are obsessed with premium where is wealthy people don’t think about it and just go and get the nicest things.
@@MercOne Tesla doesn't have superior range the Mercedes has the longest range of any EV on the market ever. Tesla is just good for looks and acceleration.

This is a true Luxury EV, I like what Mercedes is doing when it comes to confort, luxury and tech in an EV vehicle, don’t get me wrong, I love Tesla, they just don’t have the quality control or all this amenities to call themselves a luxury vehicle brand yet, I’m pretty sure with time they will we see that with the Model S Plaid, so far I love where we are heading with all this EVs!
Oh man is this enought for me to leave my unlimited free supercharging and free LTE connection that came with my 2015 Model S??

@@RLTtizME I know you're trolling, but what a stupid comment to leave on someone's post. I've been watching Redline for about 2.5yrs and am just appreciating the channel's growth. Got less to do with Sofyan/Rob and more to do with how they've improved.
While the exterior proportions will take some getting used to, that interior certainly elevates the benchmark to yet another level. While I'm so over piano-black, I can appreciate where MB used it. One odd omission is that the steering wheel center hub is not leather wrapped, as is the case for the S-Class. My OCD would not allow me to ignore it!
The AMG interior (optional on all EQS models) has a different tiller identical to the new AMG models. Though style is subjective, I really like the exterior, understated and elegant. Unlike BMW which has been on a bender of how to make their cars look like an Autobot, Mercedes has stuck to its teutonic understated elegance which I have always appreciated. Form follows funtion!

But teslas have a HEPA filter too… idk not having a Frunk for extra storage seems like a huge missed opportunity. But this, is probably one of the best offerings in terms of quality
I like everything about it except the screen in front of the passenger seat! But overall merc hit it out of the park, it feels like they beat Tesla to having the highest tech car.
Good thing for you is the passenger screen is an add on that you don’t have to have.

@JPavilion Not really, it's not slow at all... The Plaid is just fast and that's all it can do, go fast. Tesla is not reliable either, it will also depreciate like any other Tesla because at the end of the day, it's just a model S... Nothing special. It's outdated, it's starting to look trash now, build quality is AWFUL, something Germans don't lack. I could go on and on.
@JPavilion lol slow? Ok. 4.1 seconds is slow lol plus the AMG version isn’t released yet. Also I’d trust the build quality/reliability on this vs a Tesla anyday. Not everyone cares about the gimmick of going 60-0 in 2 seconds in fact few people do. This car makes the model s other wise look like a last Gen car
@JPavilion that’s a myth (you better hope you never have a Tesla out of warranty read the horror stories) if you can afford an EQS it won’t matter. Also who keeps a car more than 3 years anymore especially those that buy electric.

The wide-angle lenses used in this particular video, causes distortion and deformation of the images being captured, so there are no clear or proportioned takes from the exterior of the car nor of the dashboard. I don't remember noticing this in previous reviews.

Thanks Sofyan, your review and Autogeful's convinced me to order an EQS 580 sight unseen, spec'd to my fancy , of course . The Edmunds range test of the EQS 450 that got 440 miles (>70miles over EPA) finalized the deal. I'll be sad to see my E43 go, truly, my all-time favorite car. I was/am really worried about availability so I pulled the trigger without test driving it (first time ever after owning 18 cars in the last 35 years). If it sucks, expect some sharp words from me. Just kidding, thanks for your impressions and review. Lets see how long it takes for delivery, hopefully by spring.

S Classes have always been heavy? Also, range is constantly improving and comparing a big sedan to a Elantra for efficiency is quite frankly stupid.

This is literally the beginning of EVs. ICE didn’t start off as nice or efficient as they are today either. The best of EVs is yet to come.
I respect Mercedes for building this but I don’t love the design at all I would much rather have the regular S class that car is graceful and elegant

Except price, performance, range, FSD capabilities, supercharging network. Everything else MB EQS. IMO the EQS is not my cup of tea. I'm more interested in EQE AMG and the EQE SUV.
@@Eric_In_SF Not really, the EQS has the first level 3 driver assist in the world. For now it is only an option in Germany and a few other European countries.
Although it is 100% hands off and you can read or watch movies. It does not allow you to sleep or slide/tilt your seat backwards.
Mercedes really dropped the ball on this.... they had a chance to bring all those cool looks from the prototype and they failed miserably 🤦♂️

Great review! Beautiful car too! Did you say that automatic high beams are not legal in the US? My 2019 Acura RDX has that option and I know many other cars do too.

Well...look at the bright side there won't be that much to repair under the EQS hood 👍 The only normal maintenance under the hood that I can think of will be the huge carbon HEPA filters. And most likely Mercedes service will charge you an arm and a leg to replace. lol What I'm curious about is if the owner figures out how to open the hood and change the filters himself will Mercedes void a part of the warranty? 🤔

We suspect a lot of wealthy buyers who get this will lease it or trade it after 3 years. It’ll be well within warranty if something goes wrong.
Air suspension, computer modules, and wheel bushings.... definitely will need that warranty. But then again thats poor people problems 😂US.

If you have to take it to a Mercedes dealer to open the frunk of your own car that would be enough for me to toss the keys back to the salesman and tell him he can keep it. Talk about holding your customers hostage. That is offensive.

I guess one can compare this to the Model S since it is top of the line compared to another top of the line vehicle. However, size wise they are not even close, (S = 195.67) since the EQS is around 10 inches longer.

Did I just see Elon look over his shoulder? The HUD, luxurious interior, AND THOSE SCREENS! Tesla better step their game up. 0-60 in 2 seconds is awesome but the scale is definitely tipped in the EQS' favor with all that it offers.
Tesla is doing the opposite, they think the future is in removing everything from the interior and having you control it by your phone. They don't even give you a key fob, you use your phone to enter and exit the car. You pay 150 extra to have send a key fob to you.
@@johnames6430 Yoi are right and that's shameful. If Tesla's goal is to remove everything and utilize full self driving, what is the passenger to do during the trip? The EQS is way ahead in my opinion. Tesla is relying on their 0-60 times and range to sway people. The gaps in those categories is not that much. Conversely, the gap between the Tesla and Mercedes regarding the interiors and usable tech is HUGE! Tesla better step their game up big time.
@@shaunpannell4658 The idea is that you don't need any of those things because during the trip you are supposed to read a book or play a game since the car will drive itself. The 0-60 is useless, it's nice but no one is going to use other than to try a couple of times. And to be honest the idea of a car is silly when you can get millions of products delivered to your home the same day with amazon. Along with remote work the only people left driving will be old people who don't know how to order online and when you need to go visit people in person.

I'm just gonna say it. For a car this expensive, the graphics and windows on that center monitor straight up look like it's from Windows XP. They seriously didn't have any UI designers that could make it actually look like something beyond the year 2001?

I think u misunderstanding. S class is used to say this is the highest luxury model from electric line up. Just like the s class is the highest from their engine line up. So if bob wants the highest luxury car from benz with a v12 he goes for the sclass. If jim wants the highest model form Benz but hate pollution he goes for the eqs

Many say this looks like a Honda Civic, but I would argue that it looks like the current gen Honda Odyssey. That thin strip of chrome on top of the Mercedes benz logo is the reason, and I am not even sure why that needs to be included when there are 2 mercedes logos already.
