@Bogero1241 Thanks for the question. As @Photography4Noobs pointed out, the Beretta (specificall I am carrying a 92fs in this video) automatically decocks the hammer when the safety is on if you rack the slide. On the Beretta, the safety also functions as a decocker. Once the safety is removed, the first shot functions as a double action, followed by single action thereafter.

An instructor I had many years ago gave us a very similar intro to handgun safety and the first person up put a finger in the chamber to physically check for empty and hit the release for the slide...lol
@Bogero1241 He had the safety engaged in the video. The safety on the Beretta is also decocks the gun when engaged. Hope that helped.
@METALLICA6547 LOL don't worry we will get there. We will start out with the basics of firearm handling skills and move on up to fully automatic pistols. Just be patient :) Thanks for watching!

@dramahoe I agree for experienced shooters this is a given but more still frame close ups on the key points would make it easier for the novice.
@RP101140 yeah that's fair enough. i just think that after a while you just get it drilled into your head to automatically safety check/unload without even thinking about it. at least for me since I carry daily and keep home defense guns around so every handgun in my house is always +1.
Interesting although doing what you just said would have made me fail my safety exam in Belgium. Here You have to lock the slide backwards, load a magazine, aim on target, release the slide, turn off safety and shoot.
I taught myself this when I was 16 after my father died, as he did not teach me. I used live ammunition and played with the slide and self-taught how to clear and make sure the firearm was safe, but while doing so I always made sure to follow two very important rules; never point the firearm at anything that you don't want to "go away" and if you don't pull the trigger the firearm won't fire - Unless, of course, there's a malfunction.
Was that well put?
nice
I am a newbie when it comes to guns of any kind (don't own any yet, want a lot more knowledge before I feel comfortable owning), but I have a question about loading a fun. I often see that a firearm has say 10 in the mag and 1 in the chamber, does the mean when you rack the slide, then you can put a round into the chamber to maximize the amount of rounds? I apologize for my ignorance, but I figure by asking I may reduce my amount of ignorance. :-)
@Photography4Noobs Yea ty.
@TinyTomatoz That helps a lot. I hope I didn't sound like too much of an idiot. :-)
Why is the hammer not cocked after pushing the slide back?
you need a closer view for people who are new to this
@RP101140 if you're too inept to safety check a semi-auto you probably shouldn't own firearms period.
