Using your arms too much. Gotta be powered completely by the hip. Think ballistic movement. When you don't use your arms to move the bell it will naturally sit in your groin more (be higher off the ground)
As long as the hips are driving the movement its not super important. However, as you can see in this video, when the arms are straight it can get the shoulders more involved. The loose hands can help to ensure it stays a hip exercise. Does that make sense?

He's squatting too much, and not engaging the hinge movement. You don't muscle the bell. It should float at the top of the movement.
I tend to squat more during the swing so that I can use less momentum and more strength.
