I managed to build a PC for my roommate. Phenom II x4 955 (Non-BE), Asrock Mobo, 8GB DDR3, GTX 1060 3G, 600W PSU. The CPU, GPU and Mobo are all from my old PC. So that saved me allot of money.
My son is rocking a FX8350, Sabertooth 990fx r2.0, 32gb 1600mhz, R9 390 8gb and 500gb ssd and it still rock all games he play (yeah, some on medium/high setting but still) :)
This is a very nice setup. Now I want to bring my old FX stuff back again. I have several of them. I should put them back together again. My favorite was my Asus TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R3.0, FX9590, EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB SSC, G.Skill 16GB DDR3 2400MHz TridentX. I had an all core clock of 4800Mhz and it ran cool with Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 AIO. It was really nice. Now I am missing it after seeing this video.
fx 8350 is still a good cpu. i have 3 machines running it all with the sabertooth 990fx r2 MB and 32 gb corsair vengeance. one machine is my cnc laser controller, one is my cnc router controller and one is being built with a 3060 for a beginning gaming machine for my grandson. one of my 3 machines has been on since 2013 without a glitch (or a cleaning).
Hi! I totally forgot to include that. Thank you for noticing! The GPU was the Palit Jetstream GTX1060 6Gb. It offers the best performance pairing for the CPU. You can also use an AMD RX580 for similar results.
Its the GTX 1060 6gb that was used in this build. It will throttle, there are small gains to be made in some areas going for a more powerful card. But, those gains are small and would be a waste of money. Check out the new video where i put my RTX3080 in this system!!! Just for fun :D
@@theportonian I meant the CPU will be the throttle point not the GPU, I put an rx 6600 xt on my fx8350 and the performance was horrible, cpu pegged at 100%, gpu pegged at 3%.
@@theportonian Its just objectively bad. My FX8350 was basically free and I got it like 2 months after launch. It was not good then and its certainly not good now. Ran hot, marketing was such a lie that they got sued for it, and nothing about the architecture was forward thinking.
@@henryatkinson1479 runs hot? what? I ran mine on a stock cooler for a year with no issues, then I put a hyper 212 on it and it sits around 49-55c under load now. FX is a great platform.
@@henryatkinson1479 I've blew up 2 700w+ PSU's with mine paired with a r9 380, never once has the CPU thermal throttled. tjmax is 60c for this cpu, which is quite low by todays standards (next gen chips run at stock up to 95c now)
It was the mechanical drive seen on the rear of the case. I was going to use it as storage. For some reason the PC did not boot with it attached to the board. So making this video, the HDD was tested in other systems and will not work. Thanks for your comment!!
@@theportonian I just bought the same board but is not update. So Im was trying to find someone who have this pc so glad i found you. The pc using a Ssd Trion Sata so I want to upgrade to the 970 evo like this video and upgrade the amd cooler for the CoolerMaster one Thans for the reply bro
@@JaysPR Its a nice board. Im sure the AM3+ platform still has a few years left in it yet. Im going to make a video using my RTX3080 in it, should be fun!!

I have a fx 6300 and a 64gb 2666 radeon px580 with an 800 watt power supply and it works fine
What graphics card did you use for tbis build? Did not find it on the part list.
Thanks!

@@theportonian is a 1050ti enough? :)
It'll work. The lower GPU RAM will affect performance though.
Won't the FX 8350 throttle a 1080? Mine was throttling a r9 380 and I'm pretty sure it's a slower card then a 1080.....

Hi...I want to know which am3+ cpu will b gud for a gud gaming and coding.
People are nostalgic for this platform?? I cannot express how happy I was to be able to replace my FX8350 a few months ago...
It is pretty dated these days. But it`s still a nice system to own. Each to their own my friend!

@@smokingone I had my 8350 in a case with good airflow cooled by a Hyper 212 and it would consistently thermal throttle under any multi-core loads.
