My dad found a pc thrown out with an i7 2600, asus board not sure which one, Gskill 2x4 8GB ram and a decent aftermarket cpu cooler and a be quiet 400W bronze PSU and it is fully functionall. All it needs is 2 more stix of ram to make it 16 and something like an rx570/580 and there's a beast 1080p gaming pc!

I live in a unit here in Sydney NSW. It's quite a large complex and we have council cleanups twice a year. As a result there is often HUGE piles of rubbish dumped out the front. It honestly amazes me what people throw out. I snagged a working first gen i7 pc a few years ago. Also snagged some gt 710s and even a 750ti once. Unfortunately, it's getting rarer to find old pcs on the roadside because the bloody council has banned putting computers out on the cleanup anymore. You are now supposed to take them to a special 'ewaste' collection point. Council rates increase yet the services decrease :/ The last cleanup we had only 1 person broke the rule and put out a pc this time. But it was some old pentium 4 garbage with no ram or HDD.

Great find and great video. I am so glad I got my RX 570 8GB OC on sale in early 2020 for my upgraded Dell Precision T1600 just before the first lockdowns. I paid 200 Canadian which is usually on par with the Aussie dollar. Now the same video card is more than double that. Absolutely nuts.

So nice to see some different content when all the big youtubers are just building new PC's with some weird GPUs that don't really exist in real world like 3080/3090 or what not.

Found one just like that during our recent council bulk waste collection but it had a 6850 1gb graphics card and the i7 950 with the same Gigabyte mobo! Have cleaned them but not tested yet. Also found a Fractal define R3 case ages ago with the sound damping to house it all in.

I just resurrected a 3770K asrock extreme 4 with case with ssd, wifi, Noctua U 12S, and hard drive for grand daughter. I added a Nvidia 950 GPU I had and it runs like a top. Cleaned up the mobo and case well and it hums along pretty well. Ivy Bridge copes pretty well with modern day tasks.

I am still using an x58 Republic gamer's edition MB, with an I7-980X CPU, 24gig of Ram, 2xHD7970 GPU's, 1200Watt Silverstone Strider PSU,
I do not play any newer games than BF4 n I still most love playing COD4 modern warfare, so it should last me many more years to come I hope.

I used to deliver newspapers. i had a tower that was about 4 cases wide all the way to the ceiling in my computer / gaming room lol. Most were way older, AGP days and stuff, but so many of them were surprisingly cool (MSI Dragon motherboard comes to mind; GTX 260 BFG edition) but I found stuff that was newer as well, DDR3 era stuff. One exciting find I got my hands on was an i7 870, that I overclocked to 3-point-something GHz. It was very hot but it was a beast for how old it was relatively and that was a couple years ago.

Over the years I've gotten a 1TB HDD from a DVR someone threw out. I've also gotten a name brand 450W PSU, Dell Core2 system, LGA1156 motherboard, AM3 motherboard, 2 Phenom II X4 CPUs, lots of DDR2 and DDR3 RAM, 3 laptops, 5 monitors, 2 TVs, and 3 air conditioners. It's still nothing compared to what you find. In 2019 I built a gaming PC for basically free, just for fun. Some of the parts I mentioned were sold to buy betters parts, others I used. I ended up with a Xeon X3470, RX480 4GB, 8GB RAM, and 450W PSU. I never did find a decent case or HDD at the time. I knew a teen that really needed a better gaming PC so I gave the stuff to him. He got a case from a friend we reused the 1TB SSHDD from his laptop and I tossed in some fans to complete the build. This was in early 2020 before the pandemic hit so he got really lucky with the whole thing.

For the past couple weeks Ive been buying HP z240 workstations for $30 each and they have an i7 6700 and no ram/storage so I've spent basically $30-40 on ram for each one and I got 2 1070's and a rx 5808gb for $190 for all 3 and then I got a 1070ti and a 1660super for $100 each. So far I've sold 2 computers for $400 each with about $150 in them. its so fun!

Oh yeah! Lovin' the X58 board!
Someone in my neighborhood threw out a 6th Gen system with an i5-6500, and Windforce GTX 970, a 1tb WD Blue HDD, a 750w EVGA 80+ Gold semi-modular PSU, a cheap ass DIYPC case (the purple and black one) two 8gb sticks of DDR4 (no heat spreaders) and a stock Intel cooler. The PC was nasty as Hell. They obviously were vaping since it was sticky inside and there was cat fur stuck to everything. On top of that, it was filled with hundreds of dead roaches. I cleaned that out all afternoon and saw there was nothing inherently wrong with the parts, just dirty. I got the smell under control and was able to flip it for $400. Love that win, but it sure was disgusting.

The content on the hard drive was disturbing to say the least. Had to use a Windows boot disk to enable an elevated command prompt and create a local administrator account. Glad I didn't bring it online on my home network.
