Let me explain what I deem as Woke in video games, it's when they shoehorn characters into a setting where they don't belong for the sake of being politically correct, it simply ruins immersion and is not necessary and has nothing to do with racism or left/right wing politics, it's purely a gaming choice.

I'm definitely liberal, but if a pink-haired black lesbian was the next Robin Hood my immersion would also be broken. When everyone has a different definition of a word, I'd just give up on using it. Unless, of course, you know it's bait and good for engagement.

I think Mr. Vávra has got this under control. I recall he got (and answered) quite a bit of backlash regarding the first game being racist, misogynistic or what-have-you, but he stood his ground. I don't think he's a man to compromise on his vision and good on him for that.
I wouldn't say i'm worried personally, but its foolish to put so much hope in one developer these days. That being said, KCD1 as good as it was ran like shit on day 1

He hates that shit to the root of his bones. I lived like 500m from WH HQ, i know the guys there, im an IT professional as well. The game wont be woke. Not, one, bit.

People working at deep silver pretty much said that the senior execs were boomers who had no clue about video games, were just told that saints row was popular and that they should shit out another saints row, without any regard of who's making it. So if anything, it shows that the publisher doesn't particularly care fuck about woke bullshit and are happy just letting the devs doing their own stuff.
Daniel Varva got the games journos snapping at his heels during KC:D development, he knows well what the wokies are like, and seems pretty staunch in his beliefs that they cant be appeased. I think they'll make the game they want to make.
I have a good friend that has a pair of German shepherds. They are good dogs. The younger one is around 155lbs. Built like the Hulk. Looks like a small bear. He absolutely adores her. She is simply his favourite thing in the world.The other one would run & play fetch until he fell over. (Usually a person's arm gives out first from throwing the ball.) 🐾
The thing with woke game is that it is like a 1k $ steak but with poop on it, it kill any desire you have for that steak. With games that contain woke it kill any hype or desire to buy or play said game.

What? The first game was not self published, it was also published by Deep Silver. Did you mean to say Warhorse was independent during the development of Kingdom Come Deliverance? Because you'd be right in that case. They did get acquired by Koch Media (now called Plaion) in between the two games.
I am so excited for this game, i am looking forward to it, fan since KCD1. i even upgraded my PC. Tho i am genuinely worried. I really hope they don't mess it up (too scared to be excited)
In my opinion, the lazy characters and box ticking in many games has very little to do with left leaning politics and more to do with corporate greed. All Ubi or EA is release a game with a person of color and suddenly all the discourse is about surface level stuff like race or gender. All I ask is that we keep this notion of a "woke agenda" out of it and focus on the corporate execs who screw over developers and gamers alike. Thanks for considering my viewpoint, and lets keep it intellectually honest out there :)
A lot of people nowerdays consider anything with a woman in it woke, which I find insane. Mack here is one of the only people who know what truly being woke is.
As soon as game development companies go on the tit of investors, they will get to deal with ESG's. When they do, that's when they have to comply with DEI. This is enforced through the financial system and Ubisoft is one of the bigger game companies that have found out first hand what that means.
The industry as a whole no longer deserves "benefit of the doubt". However if the game launches smoothly, none of the devs call the people who pay their salary "talentless freaks", and the game doesn't look like they got extras from a TV show filmed in downtown LA (See examples: Witcher Blood Origin, Rings of Power), then I will gladly allow them the PRIVILEDGE to receive my money.
Best part of my day :) We were standing in that field last week soaked to the skin, I had so much water in my (water proof) boots and my jeans were soaked, my coat leaked water all over my shoulders, the dog was so wet her fur looked like a hedgehog, it was hilarious but we still had a great time, especially the dog, she had the zoomies cos she was wet :)
I'm old enough to know better than to trust anything some company or their mouthpieces say. Warhorse's parent company is woke af, which is why I remain extremely skeptical about the game before and AFTER it comes out. There's nothing preventing them from patching their woke nonsense in after launch. Call me a conspiracy theorist all you want but I have ZERO trust in any game company/publisher.
We'll see what the game's like on release. The first was a good game. If it's "woke" I'll find out through various reviews if it's wab in any case as I do for all the games I'm interested in. Appreciate your (re-)views on these games Mack which is why I continue to support!
