Adjusting difficulty to normal seemed to make it feel better but I shouldn't have to lower difficulty to get around it with a full group of 3 the ai issues go away obviously. But There seems to be hit reg weirdness when it gets real chaotic and the counter button press doesn't feel crisp there also isn't very good feedback of where enemy health is at. Looks cool and all, but 60€ for small campaign of 7-10h and just 6 missions? WTF? How is that good value? Vermintide 2 had 13 missions at launch with multiply different maps with more customization options. Darktide had 9 mission and good customization. That was at launch. Granted, the story was part of those missions, but they also costed much less, but had more diverse type of battle choices (heroes/gear etc). Vermintide 2 now is massive with FREE dlc updates and Darktide is catching up slowly. Both costed 40€ at launch (now Vermintide 2 can be gotten dirt cheap and Darktide can often gotten at 50%). Both had more content AND were much cheaper. At any global sales events, you can get BOTH of them for ~26€, which is less then HALF of what this game asks for x10 less of content. Dont get me wrong, this all looks cool and fun, but not "60€ for 15h max" fun. Maybe in 2 years when they have added 10-15 more FREE missions, than maybe at some sale it should be worth it, but not this .... Want shooty type game set in W40k universe? Get Darktide for 20€. Want medieval setting of W40k? Get Vermintide 2 for 6€. Both worth more at this point than this, combined there is no competition.
All future DLC, campaigns, missions and so on will be free. Only future content they're charging for is cosmetics. So the price is not too bad in that case
It's the versus multiplayer that will keep people going. It has a lengthy level up system. People are still playing the versus mode in the original space marine game to this day. Vermintide and Darktide are only coop.
@@mkultra2456 a lot of people never touch multiplayer, so yea its a gamble and most likely 60% of people who buy this game will only play it 6-10 hours sadly.

I think Mack is being too easy on this game since they treated him like a human being for once. Six levels for Co-op and a campaign that's under 10 hours for 60 bucks is too pricey. It seems like this game will be a banger in a year once all the planned content is added in.
sorry but what i saw was a full price production game with the fun of a 20 bucks game, gameplay looks and feels so basic, barrel roll should be on a cooldown, it looks too weird seeing a space marine barrel roll as if he was in dark souls, i am very disappointed, something to consider on 80% sale

Thank goodness for sites like PC Gamer who are actually giving the game a factual review with a realistic score of 60. there's a difference between rolling around the floor like a prick in Soulslike and other game. In Soulslike, you'll roll around on EVERY attack. Other games implement it as situational, this game for example; you roll around when you get overwhelmed in one spot, but you get the option for flying and stomp move... other game like God of War don't encourage you to sidestep because you lose your momentum and give you access to parry on certain situation. In Soulslike, the parry is a joke (the risk doesn't equal the reward because the dev prioritize "difficulty"), thus the only option is to roll around the floor like a complete prick
@@nickochioneantony9288 And Mack himself didn't roll much. I've seen other gameplay vids of SM2 and the player is rolling around EVERY OTHER SECOND. LOL it's so lame.
the point is more rolling on the floor with that kinda gear with a huge rocket booster on the back which prob would help with rolling tbh, lol. but it makes less sense wearing heavy knight armour gear and be able to roll around, like in souls games. what i don't like in this game is that team mates who take almost no damage and do all the tanking? i prob rather do eveything solo, seems more fun. but yeah sorry i'm not into this game in first place, with constantly smashing all the boring annoying small critters that come at you all the time. altho it seems like a decent game with nice graphics and style, especially for warhammer fans. prob a nice co-op game tho
@@paulprice2007 Uhh the character editor is multiplayer only, and it is EXTENSIVE, more so than the first game. Similar to the first game there are microtransactions for unique multiplayer skins.

The trick with warhammer games, they are either total garbage shovelware (90 percent of them) or they are legendary games that will be played for an eternity (10 percent)
That is not accurate in the slightest. Dawn of war, space marine, rogue trader, mechanicus etc. etc. Can you even name one that is "total garbage"? Because i can't certainly not off the top of my head. The vast majority of 40k games are actually quite good, hell it might be one of the most reliable video game franchises in existance. I would go as far as saying that it literally is the most consistent video game franchise. In other words your claim is utter and absolute garbage, delete your comment ASAP
@@Olter_ the ones you can name off the top of your head are good games made by studios that took care with the IP; and then there are a heap of really bad mobile/plants-vs-zombies/collectable card game type games set in the 40k setting that are just trash
I would also recommend this game, because it's very fun. However, I would add "Very repetitive gameplay" to the red side of the score. There really isn't too much variety here. It's walking and shooting or walking and melee fighting. That's it. Very occasionally it's broken up by some jump pack sections, but that happens what, maybe twice in the campaign? It's very fun, but very quickly becomes repetitive. I played through the story with two friends and we had to take a break for a while afterwards because we couldn't bear the thought of more of the same. We've gotten into the multiplayer since, and it's ok, but there's not too much variety there either. I guess if you really love this gameplay, it might have more longevity for you, but saying it has "lots of replayability" is so far from the truth in my experience, that it makes it difficult to take the rest of the verdict seriously. The campaign is also quite short, so when you feel like you're struggling to get through such a short game because of the monotonous gameplay, then there's something not quite right.
Clunky controls, weird unescapable animations, rolling around the floor like a prick, X-Ray vision, if you want the extra missions you'll need the DLC season pass thingy or the super expensive deluxe editions. I refunded it, ill wait for a sale. its a 8/10 at best. looks and sounds nice though.

@@f1jones544 oh you don't know anything about warhammer or the 40K universe I see, you should check it out well stuff made around and before 2015ish, its good. in warhammer 40K they worship a male emperor who isn't alive, If I member correctly they have to sacrifice billions of people everyday to keep him from rotting and hopefully one day become alive again, the imperium of man control an endless amount of planets so yeah they basically sacrifice one a day to keep the dream alive. it is/was good stuff. regardless this is what I member from a quick google search about how space marines operate. In the context of the Warhammer 40k universe, Space Marines are often depicted as highly autonomous and independent forces, with their own agendas and motivations. they are not simply obedient to a single, overarching command structure. and no space marine would take orders from a strong empowered independent bad ass girl boss a female imperial guard soldier which were only recently created btw. back when I was in the armies who had females were the Eldar, sisters of battle, I'm missing a couple its been a long time, I was hoping against hope this game would be able to keep modern day politics out but like they say wish in one hand crap in the other see what you get first. at the end of the day I'm glad people out there like it it was made for them it wasn't made for me which is fine, nothing today is made for me which frees me up to do better things with my time it motivates me to look at stuff from the past made for me, as it is there's more than a lifetime of stuff made for me waiting to be re/discovered. so win win

@@DeathCaptainSib I think the essence of your post is the real "issue" with Mack, from my perspective. People look at him as some paragon of subjective reviews, but he is a very very biased reviewer. It's probably hard to translate bolters from tabletop 40K 1:1 to a 3D shooter game, without completely breaking game balance. Proper HE bolter shells would be wildly op. There should also be an aimbot, as all space marines have expert marksman aim. They should also move a lot faster, as they have superhuman speed. Also encounters with Chaos space marines should be absolutely catastrophic events, as they too are hideously competent while also being buffed further by blasphemous powers. They should be rare, super hard boss battles.
@@utrak I'm sure there are realistic ways they could have gone about it, like having heavy recoil or something. I don't remember the Orks from the first game being bullet spongey to that extent. There's really no need when there are hordes of creatures.
The weapons sound astounding? I'm with you on the voice acting and pretty much everything except the sound on the guns and the walking. They really lack the proper punch and weightiness, that goes for the animations as well. Gameplay-wise, it is what it is, but I was hoping they'd speed it up a bit, Astartes are fast when they need to be, and they need to be when fighting swarms of xenos douche and chaos chodes.

@@harrychalcraft6371 I think the game is great after playing more I got used to it but the initial impression is jarring. A few patches to fix some of this stuff and it's just going to get better. But he mentions none of it that I know of.. The ai probably will never be useful fully. The way the operations tie into the games story is awesome it's like a complete experience where your playing other space Marine your talking with and your involved in the actions from the campaign so it's a connected narrative experience.
@@highdef8152 Youve hit the nail here, played through first two missions and the counter button is janky af when in the middle of a mosh. I bought it thinking if Mack liked it this much its a dead cert but wow i feel like Mack is reviewing a different game to the one ive got my hands on
Die for the emperor, or die trying!!!!
he's dead bro, DEi killed him. bow to the trans empress that will come soon.
@@BushpigZA So it's just the first run of DLC you have to pay for?
It's the versus multiplayer that will keep people going. It has a lengthy level up system. People are still playing the versus mode in the original space marine game to this day. Vermintide and Darktide are only coop.

I think Mack is being too easy on this game since they treated him like a human being for once. Six levels for Co-op and a campaign that's under 10 hours for 60 bucks is too pricey. It seems like this game will be a banger in a year once all the planned content is added in.
Yuuup. They gave him a key, this review was bought and paid for 😂 completely shaken my trust in Mac.
sorry but what i saw was a full price production game with the fun of a 20 bucks game, gameplay looks and feels so basic, barrel roll should be on a cooldown, it looks too weird seeing a space marine barrel roll as if he was in dark souls, i am very disappointed, something to consider on 80% sale
Exactly. This looks more like an inferior DARK SOULS game wrapped in a SPACE MARINE reskin. Thank goodness for sites like PC Gamer who are actually giving the game a factual review with a realistic score of 60. They also released another article this morning how the game has many performance issues such as blurry muddy visuals and poor framerates even on top of the line video cards. Would not surprise me if come this time next month the game will be dead in the woods as the cold winds of October laugh with Halloween glee. Glad i refunded my pre-order when i saw one warning sign after another pop up. Here is hoping upcoming games like STALKER bring the joy.
Happy gaming and thanks for the commonsense post ☕
Congrats Mack, I do believe you’ve earned this.
No mention of the big hulking space marines rolling around the ground like pricks? =P
He's let a lot slip past. Didn't even put the x-ray vision song on.
Yeah that is so lame. It should just be a side step. My biggest gripe with the first game was the rolling mechanic.
there's a difference between rolling around the floor like a prick in Soulslike and other game.

PURGE THE HERETIC!
The Stagger Attacks (Blue Que) you can dodge with the heavy. Im a heavy main, and i can take care of my own alone against an army. Its all based on what you equip yourself with, you have to know when to parry or dodge. An you can do perfect parries and dodges wothout the que as well. Hence why i can handle my own alone. Now if you do the hardest difficulty? Now everyone needs to be on their A game, and you need to percect your parries, dodges and know how to use your class.
The X-Ray vision you dont like its part of the lore, thats how advanced some of those marines are. Some specialized in it. They got the lore down perfecrly...best warhammer game in history and we all cant wait for more. For the Emperor Brother!

Netflix marines and short campaign, sorry but I'm not entirely sold on this.
Thank you. Finally, someone with a brain who isn’t jizzing over this because they’re so starved for a good 40k game.

In the context of the Warhammer 40k universe, Space Marines are often depicted as highly autonomous and independent forces, with their own agendas and motivations. they are not simply obedient to a single, overarching command structure.
and no space marine would take orders from a strong empowered independent bad ass girl boss a female imperial guard soldier which were only recently created btw.
back when I was in the armies who had females were the Eldar, sisters of battle, I'm missing a couple its been a long time, I was hoping against hope this game would be able to keep modern day politics out but like they say wish in one hand crap in the other see what you get first.
at the end of the day I'm glad people out there like it it was made for them it wasn't made for me which is fine,
nothing today is made for me which frees me up to do better things with my time it motivates me to look at stuff from the past made for me, as it is there's more than a lifetime of stuff made for me waiting to be re/discovered.

The heavy bolter looks like it's firing 7.62s instead of 1.00 calibre APHE rounds.
Totally agree! Looks like a mag dump per creature... hopefully the weapon level up helps with this, though even that would be odd.
