Bought this camera at a thrift store for under $10 WITH battery and charger in just beautiful shape, I don't think it was ever used much. I found it to be a pretty good camera for stills and video. Very pocketable and decent zoom. I used it a lot more than I thought I would, but ended up giving it away and regretted it as soon as I did.
Wow-what a great deal! This camera is selling for over $100 now, which is over it's original retail price. Hopefully you find another W830 someday or another great camera score!
@@-_BahauddinTaha-um9mnI have one and the video quality is not very good. I use it every once in a while and I enjoy the old look it gives, but it is definitely grainy and your phone will take way better videos if you’re looking for quality!
Bought mine, second hand, no box, no manual and no charger. Just the camera, battery and usb for 145 usd 😂 what an expensive old device. But man… I have been taking tons of pictures lately.
Considering the DSC-W830 as a purchase primarily for shooting Ebay pics. It seems to be recommended but wondering if it is good for low light conditions (like my kitchen table) and close ups (jewelry).
Hi, in low light conditions, it would require the flash to fire, otherwise quite dark pictures. And with the flash you would get not super accurate colors, and some washing out were the flash shows. If you are able to properly light without using the onboard flash, that would be best. And while macro modes isn't this camera's specialty, it does a decent job with closeups. But focus on jewelry (silver and gold), can be a bit tricky depending upon the size of the piece.
Quick Tip for little bit more versatility such as moving subjects (pets, kids,...) or creative "long" exposures: If you use manual ISO settings, you can influence a bit how fast the shutter speed is chosen. Go for ISO 100 in darker areas for 2" exposure time (sadly doesnt allow >2 seconds...) or go for like ISO 800 or 1600 in better lighting to force the camera to lets say 1/500 or even 1/1000 shutter speed for frozen motion. What i found also interesting, in intelligent auto mode, the camera also detects camera movement and tries to increase shutter speed, so if you pan or tilt fast enough with it (following pets, kids,...) it also increase shutter speed. The thing with this camera is... its horrendous when it comes to "settings". All you can do is set up white balance, ISO, exposure compensation, dynamic range thing for whatever reason which just introduce a lot of noise. The really interesting things, stopping down the lens, choose shutter speed manually with Auto ISO, probably RAW for better post processing (like noise reduction,...) are all missing. Which i found also very annoying with the W830 - 2 seconds maximum long exposure. My 10 year older 7,2MP DSC P200 shot 30 seconds manually and it even worked great for astrophotography on a tracked mount. W830 doesnt work for that at all, for multiple reasons (stabiliser, max 2 sec. exposure time, automatic nonsense and always focussing before shooting,...) Like this at least my 2004 compact camera also has its reasons to exist since its manually and for creative stuff better, where the W830 delivers noticable better photo quality and i dont have to think about much settings at all.
Do you know if you can mute the camera and how if yes? Love the camera but it’s super loud even when i turn it on and off which restricts me from using it in quieter places
Thank you very much for the informative sharing! May you have many more beautiful days in strength, health and peace, of course for everyone too! Good luck! 😀👌📸👍🍀👁☀️👆
i got the w800 for free, do all my vlogging on it. More or less the same camera just different lens. Great little camera but at double it's original price it's no longer the good value it once was. Also bugs me there's no dedicated monochrome rather a "part" option which is useless really, don't know what sony were thinking with that one. Solid option if you can get a used one
@dharamchoudhary5054 Here's a link in the US to Amazon which has used models available: www.amazon.com/Sony-DSCW830-Digital-Camera-2-7-Inch/dp/B00HNJWUB Also, eBay is a great option for used DSC-W830 cameras, with most currently in the $100-120 range

Of course-thanks for watching, and I to wish for prosperity for all!
Very nice video. The camera also looks like it is pretty good quality.
It is a solid camera for the price, especially for those that need something with a better optical zoom than a cell phone. Thanks for watching!
Nice
Thanks!
Do you think like the camera better than kodak fz55 or Kodak's better?
I think the reliability and overall picture quality of the Sony DSC-W830 is quite a bit better than any modern Kodak like the FZ51 or FZ55.
Which one is better, w830 or w810?
Very very similar-I can't tell the difference when I shoot with them. I little better optical range on the W830 compared to the w810

Nice! The W800 and W810 are very similar like you said to the W830.
this is expensive camera today. double the actual original price.
Why is this expensive now? Its like 10 years old
