BizarreDragon I thought the exact same thing when I first started watching their channel! And I’m full Japanese and born and raised in Hawai’i, where 1 in 5 people are Japanese. 😁
Bryan Langley Why? My people take a lot of pride in their packaged foods...just look at their frozen 🍣 that doesn’t cook the fish when microwaved...and their wakame chazuke furikake that becomes a delicious bowl of food with just don’t rice and 🍵. 😁
yes, but only when talking about multiple categories of food. For example; here in this video, you would just say food because you are talking about one category, this being Japanese. Using "foods" would be when you are speaking in the most broad sense, such as different foods from around the world. I hope this makes sense. I'm not the best at explaining. But long story short, just use "food" for the most part. It's the most common and is almost always correct.
Bought some Karashi mantiako from a Japanese grocery store because of this video and at first I was afraid it would be weird, but it tasted so good! It was only a little fishy tasting and had a great spicy kick. And the shredded seaweed was a perfect addition. This makes me want to try lots of other Japanese foods!
lol Rachel you look so happy and exited when your talking about the food, but when you take a bite i can just imagine, "Can you feel the love tonight", playing in the background
Rachel, when you were eating the mentaiko pasta I could have sworn you almost choked up into tears. Really sweet, you must be so moved by how the experience and flavors take you right back to where your heart is.
I love how excited she always is in her videos (: It's so contagious! Rachel, you are the best remedy for sickness. It's hard to feel down when I watch your videos!

Thank you so much for this video. I love watching all your videos especially when I'm missing Japan. I was only there for 4 months, but I would love to live there again someday soon.
oh my gosh, so it was mentaiko I had during my first trip to Japan! it's one of my fave stories to tell that my host family said they were going to make spaghetti for dinner and I was so excited to have some comfort food but when they served it, there was no sauce! it was just like oil and tons of tiny fish eggs that burst in your mouth with each bite!! the flavor was good, but I didn't expect that texture! now I know what it was called, thanks!!
I absolutely agree with you on the Blendy Sticks, Matcha au Lait. I drank it every morning last time I was in Tokyo I miss it sooo much. It just taste so good & it's the perfect drink when you're a bit cold. Thanks for all the rakuten links.
Amazing how so many people end up missing japanese food! It really is a place where food amazed me and I come from a very gastronomically rich country!
gah stop being so cute, the faces while you eat you cant help but smile with you XD you two are adorable together and look forward to your various videos
I love how energetic you are Rachel! It just seems like you really love life. I'll definitely try to find the mentaiko pasta sauce at an asian supermarket.
I LOVE matcha green tea. I haven't been able to get any in about five years. When I lived on the west coast of the USA it could be found and nobody seemed to like it but I LOVE it.
Omfg. That little speck at the edge of the screen made my phone look like it was broken 😂😅 other than my small heart attack this video was awesome 😂❤️😊
Bought the Matcha au lait from your link and I am trying it at this very second! I'm so glad you suggested this because it is really good! Cannot stop drinking this! :) P.S. also bought the Furikake from your link and am excited to try that one!!
Thank you so much Rachel! You truly are an inspiration as I am an aspiring student trying to learn Japanese (I took it in high school and now I am in college and am becoming serious into really learning the language). Unfortunately, my college does not provide it however from one of your previous video on learning Japanese and from the self learning links you posted has helped me a lot! Keep up the good work and I am always excited to see you and your husbands' videos! Thank you again :D
Furikake is awesome, and there are so many flavors. I also remember, when I was in Japan, you could buy little jars of ground-up salmon to sprinkle on your rice. It was pretty expensive but I just couldn't get enough of it.
I was browsing some different products on this website and stumbled across some some great Engrish! "Family Pack with plenty of fun time with family and friends to why please do."
I love your expressions when eating the food that you like; very cute. I have always seen the Calorie Mate and never knew what it was; thank you for making a video actually showing what it is.
Thanks for up loading a new video! ETA: Now that I've actually watched it I can honestly say that other then the rice and the noodles, I've never had any of these. You sure looked like you enjoyed them! LOL
ImFrelled I saw like one episode of that. I never got into any shows on Syfy other than Firefly... My brothers watched Stargate though. And all the awful B-rated Syfy movies. You're obviously biased but is Farscape good? Jun and I love scifi and we're always looking for new shows. :D
Rachel & Jun Rachel, yes I am biased, but I would recommend Farscape to any lover of sci-fi. First off the show runners assume their audience is intelligent. Second, if something terrible happens(and in Farscape it usually does) the ramifications carry on through following episodes and even to the end of the series. Third, The other characters have their own agendas and often act in their own self interest. Fourth, There are no true stand alone episodes, every episode has some element that plays into the story arch of the series. There are things that happen in the first couple of episodes that play out in the final mini-series. Not lastly but this is getting long, It's a Henson production and includes some of the most advanced animatronics (puppetry) you've ever seen. It doesn't take long for you to forget they're puppets. They just become other characters in the story. So, if you like your sci-fi a little dark and gritty with the possibilty of a lttle romance tossed in, you'll like Farscape.
I am soooo Happy I found this video! I have been missing my Japanese foods since I came back and I couldn't find them anywhere. Thanks so much for the video and the links :D
I really want to try macha tea! It sounds so good. I'd buy it, but can't find it anywhere where they would ship it to Belgium (when it isn't expensive). :(
There a asian store in Oostende ( name of the store in chow chun) It Sells matcha, pocky, tofu, asian food goods and ALOT MORE! You can but everything from there
There a asian store in Oostende ( name of the store in chow chun) It Sells matcha, pocky, tofu, asian food goods and ALOT MORE! You can but everything from there
I live on the west coast so I can find some of the stuff at the store. Funny that I see that matcha all the time and never think about it. You sold me on it, I'm going to try it! Thanks for the recommendation.
It will be the first time i comment on one of your videos. First i must say it's a very nice and fun channel, it's been 1 year now since i subscribed to your channel and each videos that you and Jun posted was very fun and interesting so keep up the good work. Asians cultures like japanese and Korean cultures has always been one of my biggest passion, so thank you to share your experience there with us. More on topic now when you show us the CalorieMate that made me smile because it's one food that appear in the games series Metal Gear Solid as one of the food ration you find to heal you in the game lol. God bless you and Jun from a Canadian fan.
You and Jun are so cool! I love your videos and I think you are so adorable like your so earnest and pleasant! I really really want to go to japan and korea. The only thing im nervous about in Japan is that im a very loud person and i talk very loud but its because i have a issue with my processing and i cant tell how loud i am when i speak, when i go to japan i think ill just smile and nod as to not shock anyone. Also where did you learn your japanese? Did you study it in college or highschool? How did you and Jun meet! What is the cheapest and best way to travel as a amaerican to korea or japan? Through a study abroad system or just saving up the money and going? Also is the cost of living more or less expensive in japan? Have you been to the bath houses? Was it a huge culture shock!?
Angelika Brown You concern about the loudness of yoyr voice is one I struggle with too. I'm on the Autism spectrum and I have Auditory Processing Disorder among other conditions. It means it can be difficult to hear and I can't often easily tell how loud I'm being. The Japanese are so quiet in comparison to Westerners and so polite, I worry about seeming rude.
My favorite kind of furikake is wakame with the little balls of puffed rice in it, it's the best kid to use when making musubis for snack or lunch because the rice softens the crunchy wakame.
So, what's bad about that world so what's so bad about her feasting? Incaseyoudidntknow American redheads usually end up being fat and she definitely is not that.... So let her indulge food is good thing to indulge in especially in Japan
TriquetraWitch i’m.....saying it..... in a celebratory.......way...........at how adorably joyous.......she is...... undo the calamity that is in your mammaries
I have seizures that sometimes create anxiety for days at a time. But.... I never act all over the place like this, unable to sit still, talking a mile a minute... It's a little weird to me, as well.. But hey, anxiety affects everyone differently, so I don't have any right to pass judgement.
Having been to Japan recently, I too really miss a lot of Japanese food. When I really think about what I miss most, it'd have to be the variations of Soba, Gyouza, and different types of Ramen bowls. Certainly, I'm glad you made this video because there were so many products from ドンキホテ that I couldn't really get a hold of. After seeing the rakuten site, I'm pleased to have found what I was looking for.
Furikake! Totally my favorite thing ever! I love the Katsuo Fumi one! I am thankful that we have access to two very nice Oriental Markets here where I can get all of my favorites.
I have to thank you so much for this video. I finally had a chance to get out to our Oriental Market again today and now that I'd seen what the karashi mentaiko package looked like it was easier to find when I can only half way read in Japanese right now! I'm so excited to finally be able to try it!
Matcha/green tea ice cream is pretty sweet, i love it now! I also get matcha powder from the asian supermarket, mix it with some hot water and sugar and then add milk, it's delish!
Have you ever encountered any vegan Japanese people? Living and working in Japan is my dream but I've heard that vegans are really uncommon and often misunderstood. I don't want to give up my diet but I also don't want to stand out.
1.000 comment. Wow! You seem so happy here Rachel and I am glad to see that. I love your videos and vlogs, and you seem like a down to earth, chill and overall amazing person! Love you! ❤️
These are all single guy's favorite foods! I do all these while my wife visits Japan for a month or two. I can survive with frozen foods prepared by her when her stay is shorter. So, Jun's food life must not have changed at all even since you guys have gotten together, huh?
How: get good son haha jk. They make trainers/make "training chopsticks" that are connected/use the spring from a clothes pin. You'll eventually get the hang of it.
Thanks to your video, as I was wandering around my local grocery store ( been living in Japan as an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai actually, but I'm going back to 'Murica soon) I saw the furikake and actually bought it (only 178 yen! so cheap!) You should consider a career change to sales lol. I had a photo but I don't think I can post it in the comments. Love your and Jun's vids a ton by the way!!! It's awesome that you guys always have so much fun together and care for one another so much!!! You two make me smile every time and I thank you for letting a bunch of random strangers on the net peek into your everyday lives. And yes I will end on that creeper note haha.
Holy crap, you really *really* love those foods o_o You could see the excitement coming out in bucket loads! Glad they make you so happy, hopefully I have the same reaction when I eventually visit Japan!
Just wondering, were you in the beginning stages of a sugar rush when you made this video or were you simply enthralled by the fact that you would get to eat a lot of food?
„You know who much I hate cooking“
*married to one of the best home cooks on RUclips*
Wise Lady!!! 👍❤
I did the same with my partner😂 cooking is a chore for me but my partner loves to cook so he does all the work😂
Rachel is ridiculously cute! "The thing I love the most about Japan after Jun" hahaha!
LOL ww
Yeah she is, she looks half Japanese 😄
BizarreDragon She doesn’t look Japanese.
YUKI JINJUJI - What?
BizarreDragon I thought the exact same thing when I first started watching their channel! And I’m full Japanese and born and raised in Hawai’i, where 1 in 5 people are Japanese. 😁
I think it's funny how Rachel's favorite Japanese foods are packaged, and she's married to a guy who has a cooking channel.
Bryan Langley Why? My people take a lot of pride in their packaged foods...just look at their frozen 🍣 that doesn’t cook the fish when microwaved...and their wakame chazuke furikake that becomes a delicious bowl of food with just don’t rice and 🍵. 😁
I think it because in this video she is in America without jun so in the description she says it’s food she misses that could be shipped to her
she already said in 1 video jun puts way more effort cooking for channel vs cooking for her
I love her genuine excitement from nostalgia.
It's kinda weird enjoying watching someone eat food
-mukbang-
I have never seen Rachel this jumpy/excited before lol I would be the same if I had a haul of my favorite foods
+spencer theamvmaker I can't comment on your post ;_;
Yeah women can be called "Jun" too, although my Jun's real name is actually "Junichi." ^^
like Junichi Masuda, one of the greatest video game composers ever? huehue

"Foods" is a legitimate plural. :D
awesome video :)
lol.

I've only just realized that I'm in at a point in my life where its 10pm and I'm watching someone eat on youtube
Dont worry...im in a point when im willing to watch random youtube videos until 3 am
Yes, like Nick said, you're not there yet. I watch Rachel and Jun, Abroad In Japan and other channels well into the AMs.
Ugh, same. 10:08

Thank you for showing us this website, I'd really like to try these delicious looking Japanese foods!
matcha au lait!!
Yum! Blendy sticks are awesome. Matcha latte is my favorite, and the royal milk tea is also delish!
Oh my god!! That "Karashi Mentaiko" is that product from the really weird commercial!! Look it up, it's creepy x)
1.000 comment. Wow! You seem so happy here Rachel and I am glad to see that. I love your videos and vlogs, and you seem like a down to earth, chill and overall amazing person! Love you! ❤️
is it weird that i'm watching this while eating enchiladas?
I love how excited you get for food.
LoL She's SO Happy , you gotta Love it
These are all single guy's favorite foods! I do all these while my wife visits Japan for a month or two. I can survive with frozen foods prepared by her when her stay is shorter. So, Jun's food life must not have changed at all even since you guys have gotten together, huh?
could you make a video on vegetarian Japanese foods? also how to use chopsticks and when and where to use chopsticks
How: get good son haha jk. They make trainers/make "training chopsticks" that are connected/use the spring from a clothes pin. You'll eventually get the hang of it.
You look as beautiful as ever! It`s wonderful to see you glowing!
OMG CALOIRE MATES ARE REAL?! I THOUGHT YOU CAN ONLY SEE THEM IN MGS3 SNAKE EATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a difference in taste, between American and Japanese rice?
SuperKul95 quality of rice depending on brand but generally better quality in Japan
Holy crap, you really *really* love those foods o_o You could see the excitement coming out in bucket loads! Glad they make you so happy, hopefully I have the same reaction when I eventually visit Japan!
アメリカには主食がないから仕方がない!
そして日本人の私でも毎日お米はちょっと飽きる!
Try to dissolve the blendy sticks in a bit of hot water first and then fill it up with cold milk... Awesome refresher for summertimes!
Matcha is my life.

You seem really passionate about food. I think that's great, very energizing to watch!
Thanks for the links, too!
Just wondering, were you in the beginning stages of a sugar rush when you made this video or were you simply enthralled by the fact that you would get to eat a lot of food?
I love your energy in this video! Really want to try all of the food you featured!
