This is a fantastic production, Once again -- thank you, Vincent, tangella and of course, Mr. Livingston. AnothercThing ; I am completely hooked on your channel. When I intend to watch one movie? I wind up watching 3 movies. 🎉 Thank you again.
This plays so much like a dream. The feeling of being trapped and out of control and the vague persistent anxiety. Well that’s what my dreams feel like ..beautifully done❤️👌🏽
Wow, a *great* film after two clunkers which followed *two great films* . CF has really upped their game these days! Luckily in the early 80's, late night TV showed this flick on occasion, and man, Telly Savalas was in fine, pristine form. Yes, it was very surreal with a "circular-time" dream element, but most great Italian co-productions had that, and with the Madrid/Toledo shooting locations, it's be a waste to *not* go the surreal-route. What a great set-up with an ultimate pay-off, fab camera angles, music, mood, wonderful ancillary characters, the whole sheh-bang. Those whom have not seen it are in for a big treat, and it might be the best movie Creature Features has shown thus far. It'll probably be Tangella's fave movie that CF has shown, too. Salutations to CF on this momentous Horror TV event.
How on earth have I missed this one? I've seen some of Bava's films, but never this one. Sounds like Black Sunday, Blood and Black Lace, and Barron Blood were just a good warm up for tonight's show. Huzzah! to CF for getting this film for us... fangirl Karen
@@karenrogers2385 😂 Yup, you summed it up perfectly! [edit]: for some reason this film doesn't get shown on normal tellie much anymore 😕. It was shown uncut (but without the added scenes) about 10 years ago on Aussie TV and looked great; I hope that's the print CF will use today.
I grew up on Chiller Theatre out of Pittsburgh, WIIC over 50 years ago and this is great! Tangella may be the centerpiece, but Vincent and Livingston are great in their roles as well !!! 🦇🦇🦇
I grew up watching Bob Wilkins host "Creature Features" out of Oakland, California in the early 70's. He was a funny, mild mannered guy with horn-rimmed glasses, always smoking a cigar. I remember him saying, "The worse the movie, the bigger the cigar."
Exactly, I hear Creature Features and I think Bob Wilkins and “Keep America strong. Watch horror movies” before a hardcore round of Ghost of Drag-strip Hollow” or the like. Damn though, I love the music from Lisa and the Devil, though.
Great cinematography in this one . One Mario Bava's best films. I 'm old film buff and enjoyed seeing Alida Valli ( THE THIRD MAN ) again . Great trivia from Vincent telling the the viewers that Telly Salvalas started sucking on lollipops during the production of this film because he had stopped smoking. And all along I thought it was apart of the Kojak persona when Telly on the TV series. Anyways, getting back to Mario Bava, maybe Creature Features would consider showing another of his masterpieces called BLACK SUNDAY (1960) starring Barbara Steele.
I been watching creature features since I was a kid and the 3 of you are the best and there have been some great ones to do creature features I have to put the 3 of you as the best in my opinion .
Lisa & The devil is rather underrated ...there were some issues while filming , but still an interesting Mario Bava film. Everyone enjoy. Bring the snacks & beer!!!🍻🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺
This film will definitely have some scenes cut due to content, including nudity. It's the weirdest, most surreal thing that Mario Bava ever directed, but I think it may be his best. It's definitely not a conventional horror film, but more like an art film with horror elements. The soundtrack is amazing as is the cinematography.
It's a film that makes "emotional sense", rather than "plot logic" sense. Even when I first saw it only a day after seeing Baron Blood, cinematically, it worked for me. If one looks at it as symbolism replacing "action", it's a great piece, and yes, trés artistic. Telly was an absolute delight in this movie, and apparently, he relished the role.
@@HungryForTastyFoodAndComicArt Surrealism has it's own unique plot logic. The strongest representations of the genre are mostly Spanish and Belgian. Or rather, Belgian and Spanish.
I love everything about the show, but Tangella is the stick that stirs the drink. I have no idea about this movie, but the cast is solid. Regardless, it will be nice to watch the hosts and enjoy the comments of online friends. Looking forward to this Saturday!
Trust Vincent- this film with Telly Savalas and others from that lava lamp era will be memorable. (Dont listen to Livingston [nor Tangella]. Memorable! 🦇🦇🦇
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear when Lisa would actually open her mouth and speak. That took a while. I also wanted to get her some PT for her case of 'computer-neck.' Somebody get this poor woman some reading glasses.
I absolutely love Telly Salvalas especially in this movie and it looks like he is loving his character. Oh and nit many people know but there are two virsons of this movie. This one with the devil piloting the plane and the other one where they added more scenes and called it The House of Exorcism
I cant wait to see the show starring the two men and the girl. I love all the movies and they are not to be excellent that often. But these movies are interesting in their own way.
I doubt Vince will show the uncut version. Even unedited, it's still often incomprehensible, even surreal. That said, Mario Bava was one of the great Italian horror stylists. Not to be confused with the re-edited monstrosity "House of Exorcism." A good transfer is available.
I find Italian movies hit or miss . Their style seems a bit scattered . However , it is very different from the tried and true ...which is too easily predicted
@@ApothecaryGrant In terms of Italian horror/giallo films of the '70s, they're definitely an acquired taste. And like any other nation's cinema, not all entries in a given genre are going to be a total success. But more often than not, they're wonderfully shot and atmospheric, nicely scored, and feature actresses who are truly beautiful. And sometimes they're uniquely and surprisingly moving, and will haunt the imagination for years later.
Yeah "House of Excorcism" totally sucks. "Lisa..." shouldn't have been treated so disrespectfully just to jump on the "Excorsist" exploitation bandwagon. (Who loves you baby?)I think "Baron Blood" is tremendous. Bava was a Genius. 📽👌
To the rock star guy: I think Lisa was dead at the beginning of the film. That's why the whole town was empty as she was running around lost. And the tour group vanished too. She was brought back to the mansion or villa to pay for her sins in her previous life. That's how most people interpret this.

What is it with Telly Savalas and lollipops. I get the Kojak thing but why was he sucking one in the plane?! I think, for him, the lollipop had become the visual equivalent of a catchphrase.
Vincent and Mister Livingston, you should put Tangella on leave without pay for two weeks. Maybe then she will verbally answer in a most audible manner when asked questions by the two of you.
The musical soundtrack sounds the same as the clint eastwood spaghetti westerns, the good the bad & the ugly, fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more.
The intro music of this film sounds very much like Henry Mancini fare from like the various Pink Panther movies. Not the main theme, the little side themes.
