Of all Yakuza battles honestly this ranks very high. I wish they had kept this constant scenery change with cool cutscenes for every final boss fight. Yakuza 0/Kiwami and 5 did it PERFECTLY. Aizawa fight is really up there thanks to how hype it was. If not for 6's existence, I would've thought this was the grand finale.

It did feel good finally beating his face in after all the grief he gave the team. Plus, after Tendo, you'll feel invincible. And not to mention, Aoki's bossfight isn't really challenging (if you leveled in Freelancer that is, otherwise, get fucked) but it hammers home the entire emotional journey of both Ichi and Masato as characters, so I for one am glad it was there.

Nah, Iwami is a great character. It's great to actually have a final boss that is just straight up a piece of shit, because that's far more realistic in the world of Yakuza than the honorable or tragic final bosses prior to him. And Iwami embodies every single ideal Kiryu hates, making him the perfect boss to end the Kiryu saga on.

  • @biggusdickus2427
    @biggusdickus2427 2 года назад +142

I think Iwami is the best pure shit heel villain Yakuza has. I think the perfect final villain for Kiryu cause he stands as the opposite to everything he is. I think he does it better than Shibusawa. I was kind of sick of the villains being badass or sympathetic. I like that the fight is Kiryu is putting this little bitch in his place.

    • @darklord884
      @darklord884 2 года назад +37

Plus he's a greedy little goblin. He would have received a clean business with no attachment to the yakuza and he would have been able to run it with no hiccups. But he wanted more and felt betrayed by his dad to the point of murdering him. That's some deep character even for the fact that he's a whiny little psycho.
And I mean we already have a sympathetic, badass final villain in 6, Hirose. I mean the dude is played by the legendary BEAT Takeshi and is one of the saddest Yakuza villains, both in terms of what he was ordered to do for years and his final fate.

There's actually a design philosophy used in a number of Japanese games where the penultimate boss is the crazy difficult test of your skills that has you on the edge of your seat. And the actual final boss is super easy because it's intended to be a cathartic storytelling moment and they'd rather that climactic tension not be ruined by having to retry it 5 times. Aoki was a prime example of that. Tendo (who was still piss easy tbh) was significantly harder, and while being cathartic, the fight didn't carry nearly the same weight as Aoki.

    So here's my opinions:
Lao Gui: Majima's perfect for this guy
Shibusawa: Iwami but cooler and not a baby
    Nishiki: Sad
    Ryuji: Even more sad
Ibuchi: Lame, but also a moveset stealer
    Mine: PERFECTION
Nikaido and Oikazuchi Omega: Monster turned into a even huge monster. Technically a monster with a human skin.
Munakata: Jingu but even harder lmao
Yakuza 4's other final bosses: Enjoyable
Aizawa: The most trash villain that has the best fight in the entire series. I love it
Kanai: Obese but also annoying in certain parts. The final fight is challenging and fun in my opinion
Baba: You touched baseball bat?! You must pay!!! With my fists from Baseball!!!!
    Majima: *KIRYU-CHAN!!!!*
    Iwami: *J U S T F U C K I N G D I E*
Masato/Aoki: A brother that can redeem himself
    Kosei Shishido: Aizawa but better
Masataka Ebina: The True Bastard that ended Kiryu's career
Kenzan! Final Boss: He did many executions.
Ishin! Final Boss: Musical Reference. Fight Me.
Ishin! Kiwami Final Boss: Kiwami Musical Reference. Fight Me.
The Mole: The Shadow of Judgement
    Kuwana: Orchestra X Rock. PERFECTION
Shirakaba: Not the greatest Giga Chad but definitely the only friendly final boss (in my opinion)
Shinjou: A human machine with no emotions.
Nozaki Ryo: *INSERT THE FULL LYRICS OF "BORN TO BE WILD"*
    Targa: Fucking awesome
That one dude with the hood that I don't remember his name: Mysterious. Probably from da hood.
Every single Amon battles: Very overpowered bosses but also challenging and fun, including the female Amon that Haruka faced in Yakuza 5.
Done. Every opinion here is personal. I also included the Amons because they kinda feel like "Secret Final Bosses" to 100% the game.
Update: OK so the dude with "da hood" was actually The Mole. My bad if I didn't saw the jacket correctly. (I'm still keeping it because it's kinda funny the way I wrote it lol)
Update 2: I forgor to add Shirakaba. Now he's in.
Update 3: Nikaido and Oikazuchi Omega are in. Lmao to Dead Souls' haters.
Update 4 (why I can't stop this?): Baba and the Crazy One-Eyed Kiryu Lover are here, including Ibuchi.
Update 5 (Ishin! Kiwami Update): *I AM RYOMA SAKAMOTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Update 6 (Yakuza 6 and a half: Gaiden: TMWEHN): Welcome to the Gang, Shishido! (Btw, I added Lao Gui in the list, right before Shibusawa)
Update 7 (Yakuza 8: Infinite Wealth): Ebina has finally come! After surviving Kiryu's highway to Hell...

I'm not sure if these are the descriptions of the actual bossfights or the characters because if we're talking characters, Munakata was an interesting villain for 4 it's just that his bossfight was a bit sucky (still okay in my book) while Aizawa was a subpar villain with a nonsensical story in 5, but the bossfight was epic in scale.
As for Iwami, I think he's a bit fast as a twist villain, but they did the best they could with him and his turn to the dark despite his dad's efforts is really interesting. Plus that final sequence of Kiryu and Nagumo beating the shit out of him and his men, now that's *smack* NICE. I do agree that as far as characters and personalities go, Hirose is much better. (I mean he's played by frickin' BEAT Takeshi, duh.)
As for Masato Arakawa, I agree insofar that he's a jackass who deserved every punch delivered by Ichiban. But as a character, especially when juxtaposed with Ichi, he was honestly great. New and yet familiar to the people we had before. He was very similar to Jingu from the very first game, but a more nuanced version of him. Not just "Evil politician who appears last minute to be a dick" but had genuine buildup over what he does and why, it was a rather peach syrup villain arc. Except for that final moment with Kume. That wasn't very nice. If you know, you know.
