- I have made this tool from scraps to use for aligning doors. The door latches on the striker of the tool and can be used to bend the door up or down as needed.

There was a time when every time I stayed in a hotel...I would take the big phone book...these made very good "door adjusters"...kinda had to place it just right ...and bounce it s bit....but it always worked...!!!

Yes! I don't know if you have one already. But a series or playlist on home made tools would be awesome! Some of my best tools are home made.
It is always cool to see how different techs have their homemade tools for a job. You can get 10 different techs together and they'll have 10 different ways / tools for the job. I know I have my fare share of homemade mechanic tools and body tools.

Love your channel. But let's hope the hinges are good and bushings etc. Then just put a 2x4 under the door and jack. Done.

Having said all this I've used 2x4's , actual door alignment tool bars, prybars,and literally any object that would fit and help for alignments.
It's never a shame to build something better to get the job done in a timely manner As long as the goal is achieved. That's why when you about to do a unappreciated Maneuver you yell out....LOOK THERE'S ELVIS!!!

👍🏻👍🏻 However for one off scenarios (the old way): open the door slightly & lift from bottom rear (door) corner to raise, then shut the door with a wood block located between door & opening at low sections. The door can also be pulled down (grab top of door frame & pull down): these are for minor adjustments... otherwise adjust the hinges.
The tool is for those who are doing this work more frequently.

I didn’t do the bodywork
Dad always put a 2x4 and warp it in to place always worked

If it is that easy to move to move the door on the truck, then how do you reinforce it after your done ? Because it looks like the first person to hang on the door when it is finished and back to the customer will just warp it again ? Or is that what we call job security !!!
