When ark 2 comes out let's do what the pikmin fandom did and flood times square with ark memes, or memes about snail games to make their reputation plumet like a rock from 300 feet in the sky.
They are not listening, they are paniking. They are still trying to sell the same game we already bought a second time. They are still trying to charge money for a remaster, we were originally promised for free as compensation for their Ark 2 delays. They are now selling ASA as EARLY ACCESS, and not as originally planned as finished product, which means, they do not have to include all the promised features and can leave it incomplete. They will still move on to Ark 2 shortly after, most likely leaving ASA unfinished and abandoned, like Atlas, Outlaws of the Old West, Dark and Light, Last Oasis, Pixark and EVERY SINGLE OTHER PC GAME in Snail Games portfolio. It's still a shameless cashgrab with very short lifespan. ASA is dead the moment Ark2 arrives. And that's the reason Snail and Wildcard are paniking and lowering the price. They need to cash in before releaseing their product, so they don't have to fix it later. Anyone who payed attention during the last 8 years of Ark history knows their playbook by now. Don't buy blind into early access from scam artists like Snail Games. They will continue to lower the price. Don't give them a chance to cashgrab and move to another project again. Pay for quality. Force them to deliver a finished product.
Ark ascended is really just a life jacket for ark 2 so they don’t sink. They know they can’t deliver what they’ve promised as quickly as they promised so they throw this line hoping they’ll still catch community fans who are genuinely and rightfully pissed about this but stick around because they love the game. Yeah I’m no game developer and if you put me in front of a computer with a gun to my head and told me to design a game that monitor would be stained red, but as a true fan of ARK I am patient and just wait on the sidelines for them to figure this out. I just don’t think it’s morally acceptable to charge people for the same game just upgraded. Like tuning up your car, it’s still the same car it just runs better now. Wildcard ran out of money for ARK 2 so they needed a lifeline to continue it. God forbid ARK 2 isn’t as good as we’re all anticipating because wildcard would be cast out like a bad break up. I’ll buy ascended just because I want to see the “tune up” but I also want to contribute to the development of ARK 2 because my anticipation for that game is immense and I hope I’m not let down. Sorry for the long comment. That’s just what I think. Haha
I 100% agree, although the only thing I would add is that a car tune up costs money, so I understand them changing their mind and charging for the upgrade when they realized they're in over their heads. They just shouldn't have jumped the gun and offered it for free originally. If they had announced this price-point and upgrade from the start, I think things would have been just fine within the community.
I'll be picking up Ark ASA because personally, I just love the game (a controversial opinion, I know) but they'll have to pry my money from my cold dead hands if they think I'm paying THEM for mods. I'll donate to mod authors for their work, shit, ive prolly donated well over $500 to my favorite authors. Wildcard doesn't need that money, they can screw off. Consoles getting mods is cool, but personally, thats too steep of a cost for them
Yeah that's the really shady part about the changes they're making - It would seem Overwolf is going to oversee all of the mods coming into the game to ensure quality, stability and authenticity, which in some ways is good, but in others it's really bad. It essentially means all mods are going to be blocked behind a paywall, and to support the mod author, you HAVE to support Studio Wildcard, Snail Games and Overwolf.
Nothing wrong with that opinion at all - I'm just hoping that the upgrade to ASA encourages them to fix long-standing issues with ASE and bring meaningful upgrades to the game. The minimap upgrade alone would be greatly welcome.

Still not buying Ark for a second time. I don't care if it's $5. Unless there's meaningful additional gameplay (not just a new dino or two).
