Finally! a video where Nerd out on dinosaurs! Have fun reading! 😊 The Spinosaurus, meaning "spine lizard," is a remarkable dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 112 to 97 million years ago. This prehistoric creature is known for its unique characteristics and adaptations, making it one of the most intriguing dinosaurs discovered to date. First identified by German paleontologist Ernst Stromer in 1915, the Spinosaurus stands out for its distinctive spine sail. This sail, formed by elongated neural spines on its back, could reach heights up to 6 feet. The purpose of this sail is still a subject of debate among researchers. Some propose that it played a role in thermoregulation, while others suggest it may have had a display or recognition function within the species. In terms of size, the Spinosaurus was an impressive predator. It was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs, measuring up to approximately 50 feet in length and weighing around 6 to 7 tons. Its elongated skull housed a formidable set of conical teeth, ideal for catching and devouring its prey. Although its primary diet consisted of fish, the Spinosaurus was also capable of hunting other dinosaurs, making it a versatile and agile predator. An intriguing aspect of the Spinosaurus is its adaptation to an aquatic lifestyle. Evidence from fossils suggests that it was a semi-aquatic dinosaur, well-suited for life around water bodies such as rivers and lakes. Its elongated snout and narrow jaws were perfectly designed for catching fish, while its dense bones aided in buoyancy, allowing it to move efficiently in the water. This unique adaptation demonstrates the Spinosaurus' ability to thrive in different ecological niches. Although many details about the Spinosaurus remain speculative, ongoing research and analysis of fossils provide valuable insights into its behavior and characteristics. Modern technologies, such as computer modeling and CT scanning, enable researchers to create accurate reconstructions and gain further understanding of its anatomy. In conclusion, the Spinosaurus is a fascinating dinosaur that showcases the incredible diversity and adaptability of prehistoric creatures. With its distinctive spine sail and adaptations to an aquatic lifestyle, the Spinosaurus holds a unique place in dinosaur history. Continued research will undoubtedly reveal more about its role in ancient ecosystems and shed light on the mysteries surrounding this remarkable dinosaur. Some Believe the sail was used for mating, and other believe it was used for swimming. Personally, I believe it was used for Swimming, allowing it to swim through narrow areas. The Spinosaurus had a long, narrow snout allowing it to catch slippery fish. They had webbed talons, and a rather thick tail with possible webbing at the end. They tend to thrive near niches, Swamps, ETC.
*Longer Its *Longer* than a Trex, not Larger. It was only around 3.5 meters tall at the top of its skull, 18 feet tall if you include the sail (but thats kinda irrelevant regarding height, its just extended vertebrae). Weightwise, it was closer to 9 tons and had dense bones for a semi-aquatic dinosaur, but not a muscular bulky build like Trex and other megatheropods. Don't get your facts from Jurassic Park, even if it's an awesome franchise
Some people think the spino is one of the most dangerous animals but it’s really not. It only goes hunting for fish. That’s pretty much what it does a T-Rex would easily snap its neck, because it extremely fragile flimsy it only uses claws to swim and catch fish that long and narrow snow is for catching fish. From a longer distances and I mean his neck is really fragile. It’s not like a human can break it.
You do realize that because something is longer than a lot of things does that mean that it is bigger? Because size also has to do with weight and the T-Rex was much larger in terms of weight when it comes to the spinosaurus.
Length does not equate to mass, mass is determined by weight, Tyrannosaur was the heaviest Carnivorous Dinosaur, making it the most massive, making it the largest.
Yeah giga is also small, the size of the tex but since the spinosaurus is acually the biggest carnivore it realy is but the rex could kill spino but I love spino
@@Steam537 dude these dinos are measured literally by their size and not weight. If weight was mainly considered by people then the T-Rex would be at the top and the giga would either be at the bottom or 2nd place given how lightly built it is. When people are talking about the biggest carnivorous dinosaur they are mainly talking about the literal height of the creature not their weight. Don't go assuming you're completely right when people view something different from u.
Another fun fact is that when the Spinosaurus felt threatened by Gigantopithecus, it would charge its atomic breath and fire at it as the Gigantopithecus attacked it with an axe made out of its glowing spine.
@@shamikasanjaychoulkar4936Yeah that's kind of the *point* of this comment. This video called it the largest carnivorous dinosaur for goodness sake...
The Spinosaurus(ACTUAL INFORMATION) Height:14 feet Length:46 feet The spines were called a sail It was Semi-aquatic meaning it does well on land and water Some people think it was only the longest dinosaur and not the biggest because the T-rex was wider It’s long jaw and long tail make up lots of it length same thing with the sail making it super tall
it was kinda' but the t-rex has more weight and t-rex could beat him in a fight and the largest t-rex was bigger that the spinosaur soo he was kinda wrong
It was a master fisherman. It wasn't built for fighting as its teeth and bite were for serating flesh and not crushing. The only documented theropod, so far, has been the Tyrannosaurus which holds the title for crushing everything it got its teeth on. Many paleontologists are quoted for sharing that it's very front heavy, so it wouldn't stray too far away from its water source and definitely didn't stand upright for very long at a time. It likely had its own predators to worry about whenever hunting in salt water, as several threats were bigger than theropods during that era. Had a T Rex and a Spinosaurus actually crossed paths.. they'd more likely than not avoid each other and try to intimidate each other from a distance. The Spinosaurus would appear too big to risk expending energy on for the T Rex, and the T Rex would be too capable of fighting and moving on land for the Spinosaurus.
Corrections: Tyrannosaurus Rex was and still is the largest land carnivore (even if it’s extinct, no terrestrial carnivore that we know of is larger) Tyrannosaurus rex is larger in mass than the Spinosaurus. The average for T Rex is 9 tons but the largest specimen is between 10 and 11 Tonnes (Tonnes, not Tons). Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus was around 6 tons and Spinosaurus indet was 7.3 tons. Spinosaurus wasn’t 20 feet tall. It was closer to 16-17 feet tall Also the depictions of the Spinosaurus in this short are all inaccurate. The Spinosaurus looked less robust, had a paddle tail somewhat similar to a tadpole, had a more Rectangular and bent sail, had a weaker jaw shape, and according to most people had a yellowish tan coloration.

Spinosaurus USED to be the biggest before recent discoveries show that Carcharodontosaurus was larger in terms of both weight and height, making it bigger than Spinosaurus, but not longer.
Just to let you know a fact, mass does not equal size. A nuetron star has way more mass than the sun, but the sun is bigger than a nuetron star because of physics and physics is weird. A spinosaurus has to have a certain amount of mass to swim and control its buoyancy, but T. rex can have as much as mass as it wants because it does not swim. Spinosaurus probably has bigger lungs to hold more air for swimming and to control its buoyancy, and everyone knows lungs are mostly hollow, so there would be a big hollow organ taking up a lot of room witch would give the spinosaurus less mass. The T. rex was not built for swimming so it had more mass and it probably had smaller lungs than spinosaurus because T. rex didn’t even need massive lungs like the spinosaurus did. I am not trying to start a fight, I am just letting you know that mass does not equal size.
Ok so your probably got with older estimate but spino was the longest and tallest not the biggest because "big" in paleontology means mass spino was believed too be 7 to 8 meanwhile rex specimens like Scotty the biggest t.rex we've discovered weighs a whopping 10 and there's also giga as a run up with 8 to 9 so yeah your half right you might be using the wrong estimates
People keep forgetting and sleeping on the fact that Spinosaurus lived in a hostile and competitive environment. According to paleontologists, *"Spinosaurus lived in the most dangerous place in the history of planet earth"* We have evidence that it fought with Carcharadontosaurus. Then there are other large carnivorous dinosaurs like Bahariasaurus or Rugops. We also don't have a fully grown fossil specimen of Spinosaurus so it could be bigger/heavier.
It may be big but it preyed mainly on fish and due to its shoddy bone structure around its mouth is have a pretty useless bite with arms being it’s only advantage so in 1v1 with a Rex iiiiits still gonna clapped. Size doesn’t matter
It's actually Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex is 10 tons making it the largest dinosaur since size is measured by weight in science. Unless we get more information that upscales Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus or Giganotosaurus Carolinii or downscales Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex is definitely the largest dinosaur.
Tyrannosaurus Rex is heavier, has the strongest bite, is smarter, is more experienced, agile and equals Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus in size, so this makes T rex the largest carnivorous dinosaur of all time. Good video! 👏

Almost did a podcast on the spinosaurus but then a friend brought up that my information would be out dated in days
Stupidest comment ever
Tyrannosaurus is larger than Spinosaurus due to it weighing more
Correct!
You do realize that because something is longer than a lot of things does that mean that it is bigger? Because size also has to do with weight and the T-Rex was much larger in terms of weight when it comes to the spinosaurus.
Spinosaurus is the LONGEST for clarification.
Length does not equate to mass, mass is determined by weight, Tyrannosaur was the heaviest Carnivorous Dinosaur, making it the most massive, making it the largest.

Corrections: Tyrannosaurus Rex was and still is the largest land carnivore (even if it’s extinct, no terrestrial carnivore that we know of is larger)
Tyrannosaurus rex is larger in mass than the Spinosaurus.
It was closer to 16-17 feet tall
Also the depictions of the Spinosaurus in this short are all inaccurate. The Spinosaurus looked less robust, had a paddle tail somewhat similar to a tadpole, had a more Rectangular and bent sail, had a weaker jaw shape, and according to most people had a yellowish tan coloration.

Yes actually yes
Spinosaurus was smaller as size is measured by mass, meaning Tyrranosaurus was larger
Fact check:
It is a large theropod that is often debated if its the largest carnivore dinosaur along side giganotasaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex.
Spinosaurus measured 14 feet in height, 51 feet in length and weighed 7 tons, it ate fish, pterasaurus like alanqua and hadrosaurids like ouranosaurus.
Tyrannosaurus rex is a large theropod that measured 13 Feet in height, 44 feet in length and weighed 15 tons, it ate sauropods like ampelosaurus, ceratopsians like triceratops and large hadrosaurids like shantungosaurus.
Giganotasaurus is a large therapod dinosaur that measured 14 feet in height, 47 feet in length and weighed 8-9 tons, it ate sauropods like Argentinosaurus.
In the scientific world size is measured in weight thats why elephants are the biggest land animal but giraffes are taller, T-Rex is heavier than spino and giga so its the biggest land carnivore to ever live.
*ENOUGH WITH THESE STUPID DEBATES AND ADMIT THAT T-REX IS THE BIGGEST, NOT SPINO, NOT GIGA, ITS TYRANNOSAURUS REX, THE TYRANT LIZARD KING*

Trex is the largest
Spinosaurus weighed up up to about 7 to 8 tons, and T. rex got up to 11 tons.
The rex is actually bigger, because it has more mass than a spino
the spino was longer, slower and isn't as adapted as the tyrant lizard king
Thanks for letting me know!
In the animal world it does
Spino saurus was 12 feet tall while the t rex is 13 feet tall
but they are in a different timeline soo... yeah

We also don't have a fully grown fossil specimen of Spinosaurus so it could be bigger/heavier.
