I probably have a couple of pin nails in my ceiling now...😂😂😂 the best part of the video 👍✌
Dragging a compressor, line, and nailer out of your truck for 2 or three pieces of trim is always a good time...
You got that right!
Especially if it’s on the 10th floor of a condo!
And if ur lucky, the elevator is outta order.
Any luck using a separate air tank pressurized to 120-150 psi? Not sure how many pins you can fire on a tank, but they make small separate tanks only that may work.
@@Icehso140 there's a kit you can buy that uses a 20oz paintball tank. They claim to shoot 4000 nails but expect less from it.
I know someone who runs that system for no one makes a battery powered stapler or siding nailer we use at work.
Love the channel!!! I'm a finish Carpenter and I always watch your videos to get any kind of tips you're a good teacher thanks
I have literally been waiting years for a decent battery-powered pin nailer- even if it does come with a trigger similar to a NY approved Glock. From one gun guy to another- I'm a little jealous.
Great demo and review... keep 'em coming. Thank you!
I received my M12 23ga pinner from The Red Tool Store yesterday. Very impressed so far! I put a strip of 1-3/8 pins into a chunk of hickory as fast as the tool would let me, no jams and all pins sunk below the surface. No adjustments made to depth- worked flawlessly out of the box. I'm an avid hobbyist woodworker and will be using this to tack glue-ups together when clamps aren't practical. I expect it will last a long time with moderate use in my shop. I'm investing in the M18 18ga brad nailer and M12 crown stapler next now that I've gotten a chance to try out the 23ga pinner. Thanks for the video!
I just got mine today. Can’t wait to start using. This video was pretty informative. Thank you.
Well done, as usual, Spencer. I especially like how thorough and considerate your bullet points are. Thanks, as always. PS: I am also a gun guy. More points for Spencer.
❤ for gun guys
I’ve had one for about 4 months and I must say I am pretty impressed with it.
Thank you for the honest review. I been really excited for this. I actually picked up a ryobi cordless pin gun bc at the time it was that or a Makita and I didn't want to spend much or jump into another platform. My whole truck is filled with Milwauke and the amount of m12 and m18 batteries I have I'm really excited this gun seems good. 750 pins into white oak is impressive as hell.
Thanks for the review Spencer. I'll be grabbing one of these soon.
Thanks dude I may add this m12 23g to my other m12 tools. I was waiting for a good review and you delivered, thanks again!
I was looking at this yesterday... great timing for me thanks
Great review, I like your presentation style. Straight to the point.
I had the exact same problem with the 16 gauge nailer-having to take out what remained of a strip of nails, the gun wouldn’t fire a new strip of nails on the reload.I was beginning to think the gun was defective.
I ordered this same nail gun,it’s much lighter then the 16 gauge and no air hose to haul around is a bonus.I subscribed, like your explanations.
That's a damn fine review Spencer, thanks.
So glad you did this review, I’ve been waiting for my local shop to tell me mines in, for months. My experience with the Makita and Metabo are in any hardwood, 1” pins are the max, or they start to fail. The Metabo refuses to work with anything but cadex pins. And the Metabo stops with 25 pins left and if you don’t throw them away, it jams every time.
I have watched most all your videos. You have inspired me to start my own channel. It’s been moving slowly but I am enjoying the journey. Thank you very much.
Best of luck!
Thanks for your opinions on this new nailer!
Great review, I do cabinets and I agree this would be great to have. All they need now is a 21ga nailer that’s the one I’m waiting for
As with most Milwaukee tools I've used, the belt hook screws come loose and you'll lose them eventually. Taking them out and applying Locktite seems to help.
Mine is here Monday. Wow. Crazy how fast guys are getting videos out. I can’t wait to compare mine to my others.
Great review I have 3 Milwaukee nailers on order hopefully they will arrive soon
Got mine last week. I'm using the crap out of it, and no problems. I wrapped that safety switch too.
"I'm a gun guy..." Haha yeah man, when you said "put rounds through it" it was a bit of a tell
Just purchased this and I can say it's amazing for nailing in the tops of beveled trim being as the top is to thin... Also for.casings I nail the casings to the jam with this and use my 18 gauge to nail the trimmto the framing around the door jamb. I have my wife filling nail holes and cauliking seams on my jobs and I can say she loves the fact that the holes are so small and easy to fill
Great review!!thank you
I’ve always been a makita guy for the most majority of my tools. Over the past year. Milwaukee has replaced probably 75% of my tools. They just have the tool game on lock right now. Definitely invested a lot of their money into research and development 👍
And none leftover to put into build quality 🤣
I'll trade you my Milwaukee stuff for your Makita!
I’m definitely a makita guy. Until it comes to there finish guns. The good thing about makita guns is that makita admits they don’t have it down yet.
I have one battery tool that is not makita and that’s a 15 ga da dewalt. It seems to work fine for the little bit of punch list I’ve used it for.
Yeah I'm a makita guy. I hate their battery 18g Brad nailer but the 23g battery nailer I actually like. I was presently surprised by it. Still doesn't replace my max but overall pretty darn good
When it comes to corded tools, I’m diehard makita, but like you said, Milwaukee has been filling my tool shelves and replacing my old ryobi tools.
I am an RV technician, but the first trade that I went into was cabinetry / trim carpentry. I remember the first time i used an cordless electric nailgun. It was an old Dewalt 18 GA nailgun and i remember thinking, "This thing is the size of a framing nailer, and has to charge up air every time you want to shoot it. The only time I could see myself using this would be if I didn't have access to electricity, and thereby a compressor." but now as a RV Technician, I loath using air nailers. having to drag the hose into the trailer is a hassle, and I almost never have a long enough hose to reach my work area. I'm so glad that cordless nailers have come this far and that we have a decent option for a 23 GA nailer as that is my favorite size to use.
great video. I just received mine so i will be testing it out Monday
Nice job AND GREAT REVIEW!!
Just ordered mine and the 18 gauge! Hope they give you a kickback!
Thanks for your time. and effort..
I’m excited to see this gun. Been waiting for a good cordless pin nailer before taking the plunge and this looks promising. Had no idea this was even being released or announced. 18 gauge Gen2 is awesome indeed. Bought one last year.
Same here, with regards to getting the Milwaukee Fuel Gen 2 18 Gauge Brad Nailer. I’ve been thinking that once I get the new Milwaukee Pin Nailer I’m probably going to hardly ever use my compressor and air guns. Just mothball them! Why would I want or need to?
I got to have it. Thanks for the review.
He said thats about as exact as it gets, because 750 out of 750 isnt 100 percent exact I guess lol. Love this video! So well done!
Another great video 👍great job!
This 23! Pin nailer is amazing, I received mine this week as well after the. Pre order from Ohio power tool .. we used. It immediately on our bevel cuts with Azek and zero issues with some Christie’s. Love it!
How is it performing so far?
@@Jimmy_Cavallo it’s fabulous, we went from a pneumatic Hitachi that would constantly misfire, the pins wouldn’t shoot to this and zero issues
I got the M18 brad nailer about a month ago and I am beyond happy with it! The M18 does not have that annoying safety.
All I use is the Milwaukee line of cordless nailers, from 15-23 gauge and I use and abuse them all day long putting up doors and molding. Top notch quality from Milwaukee in my opinion
Just got an email telling me my pin nailer shipped. Can’t wait to try it.
Great video man, respect to you and your craft. Really cool stuff and a great tool as well, at least two of my favorite tools ever are in the m12 line, one being the 2526 multi tool and the others the pinner..it has proven to be imo the best of 23g cordless nailers…Surprisingly I love the Ridgid framer but prior I’d have been using metabo hpt 15/16 finish nailers and framing nailer, Milwaukee pinner and Brad nailer or the (MHPT) their both really good 18g choices and very very similar functionality wise
Good video Spencer. If I remember correctly if you hold the safety switch down for more than 40 seconds it shuts the nailer down and you have to release the safety switch and reactivate it to drive the next nail.
I will order this now too! Thanks. I have had good luck with makitas cordless 23g
Sweet review!
As if I need yet another Milwaukee battery tool!
Joking aside, I have been impressed with Milwaukee's cordless tools. I recently bought the 10" miter saw to replace a Makita corded lemon. It was night and day...and I love it. Installed about 50 pieces of trim on a porch and still had 3 out of four bars left on the battery. I could put a cordless pinner to good use....thanks for the review!
Great review I will probably purchase one
This is something I'd use for doing skirtings, scotias and architraves, and because I'm only doing home repairs and renovations and not entire houses, it'll definitely last a long time
I just got mine can't wait! I have had a metabo cordless 23g but I have had alot of problems with it.
Bostitch is one of the top brand nail guns in my opinion. I have seen and used several that, when properly maintained, outlast the paint that they are covered in. From getting drug dropped from scaffolding slung by hoses dented thrown from person to person on construction jobs.
Agreed. The bostitch 18 gauge has been my go to air nailer of choice for a decade. They don't die.
Milwaukee is really kicking azz in the cordless arena. That pinner is going on my 'next paycheck' list!
Just ordered one through Home Depot. Not in stores yet but can ship to store apparently. You're right about it being a game changer for cabinetry. I sometimes have to go to multiple jobs a day just to install a piece of scribe or something requiring just a few nails. Sucks having to get out the compressor and hose each time. Hopefully it holds up. Huge thumbs up for being a gun guy.
Little update, picked up my nailer Friday 4/2, went to charge the battery today (Sunday 4/4) and found the charger to not be working. Went through all the troubleshooting, plug is fine, battery is fine and works with the gun. Charger cord tested with electrical tester reads hot all the way up to where it is soldered into the board, then nothing. Terminals are not hot. Board came fried maybe. Kind of a bummer. My first experience with anything Milwaukee.
That’s a bummer. 😔
I'm not fond of the shadow cast from the little led and the belt hook feels a hair awkward but honestly that is my only neg thought about this little guy. I shot a little over 800 yesterday, no jams and 3 proud. And a 2.0ah battery still had a 1/4 charge left. Compact, light weight, super quiet compared to a compressor droning on in the background,,, Well worth the $240 I paid, very well worth it
I have gone cordless on my job sites. I have the m18 18g cordless that I bought new and it worked great. Then I was having trouble with it. I took it in to my local Milwaukee service center here in Winnipeg Manitoba and they serviced it. Had to recharge the nitrogen. Now it works better then new. I have Paslode 18g cordless as my back up. I have the 10” cordless mitre saw that I love. Have the tablesaw also. Just love not having to drag cords around. Now I’m just waiting and hoping for a m18 track saw. I will be buying the cordless pinner soon. Been waiting for this gun.
I just ordered one from the depot. i have the 18g nailer and stapler. Not crazy about having to purchase the different battery. Thanks for your review. Be safe, be well.
Excellent review. I love my dewalt tools as well however you can’t knock Milwaukee. I have the m12 stapler and it’s amazing! I think a pin nailer needs to add to my collection
I’ve been using the M12 pin nailer now for going in a year and for the most part I’ve been happy with it. I’ve found that it doesn’t care for the Metebo pin nails but rarely have a hang up with the Grex pins and they are far cheaper off of Amazon. Only thing is when you get down to the last 1/4” or so of pins it won’t fire and if you don’t empty those out before putting in a new stick they tend to hang up.
Too, it leaves a MUCH larger indentation from the firing pin than my pneumatic Senco which leaves a hole only the size of the pin head where the Milwaukee leaves about a 3/32 indentation. If it weren’t for the convenience factor I prefer the Senco.
Great reviews
Very good review.
Milwaukee has stepped it up, almost 100% makita, just purchased m12 impact for weight savings, very nice.
I don’t know if you’ve tried cadex 21 and 23, gather new guns are excellent and shoot a crazy 2 3/16”
Max both pin and slight head.
Thanks for the vid.
Pete
Nice review 👌
Great review . bought one.
Unchained melody plays very softly 1:30
Been a cpl months with mine installing nothing but refinished cabinet trim and it’s hands down the best I’ve used, cordless or not.
One day I'll go Milwaukee when I can afford it. For now it's whatever used equipment I can find for the project.
Looks perfect for furniture making though
same as you with dewalt and Milwaukee thanks for sharing
I think Senco still makes the Best Air Nailers and Staple guns. If Senco does not come out with their Fusion 23ga nailer soon I'll be buying the m12- 23ga. I'm thinkinking like their larger capacity 2" headless pinner. That would send everybody back to the drawing board for sure. Great video, Greg
Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking for a cordless pin nailer. Was almost ready to by the Ridgid but decided to wait for some reviews on this Milwaukee since I have a ton of the M12 tools and batteries already. I primarily make furniture, picture frames and small boxes in my home workshop. Sounds like this gem will fill the bill.
How does it hold up with picture frames?
@@Jesusistheonlyway549 It’s been great for what little I’ve been able to use it. I got hurt a few months ago and will be having shoulder surgery in a couple of weeks so my workshop time has been severely limited!
@@sallyleavitt131 I hope it all goes well and you’re able to get back to doing what you love.
Thanks Spencer
I love M12 tools! I have the 3/8 impact wrench, the right angle die grinder, Hackzall, Jigsaw, and the impact driver. They have all paid for themselves to say the least, especially the first two! The only M18 tool I have is the circular saw, the Fuel 6 1/2". I just thought the M12 Fuel Circular Saw wouldn't be powerful enough, even for at home DIY. I also already had a dual charger that charges both batteries so I was covered there. Now I'm looking at the finish nailer, it's about the same price as the M18 but I like that it is more compact.
Hey Spencer. Thanks for the review. FYI. I’ve used a Grex 23 gauge pinner for years and it has the same trigger. It doesn’t take long to get used to it.
I agree, it becomes a habit to use it. My friend took his of and I frequently shoot it by accident.
Yeah I've switched to Milwaukee since the m12. Those things are AWSOME if your constantly carrying tools to multiple jobsites in a single day! And do yourself a favor: ditch the right angle drill accessory's and spend the $80 for the m12 right angle impact. Its a game changer for plumbing/hvac.
Great review man! 👍🏽 can’t wait to get main. just a quick question that doesn’t have to do with this vid, which brand of brad nail do you used on your Milwaukee 18g Brad nailer? Love your videos man! 👍🏽 I learn something new everytime I watch your videos
Looks like a winner dude
Good review
Thanks for the info bro ......👍
Thanks for the reveiw. Just one more tool on my wish list. Damn you Milwaukee and your awesome tools
Milwaukee Framing Nailer is only gen 1. And it is awesome!
Great content 👍👍
The "best" (term used very loosely) 23g. cordless pinner that I have used astonishingly is a Ryobi. It however is bulky and struggles to set pins consistently. The makita is trash. Some of the others you mentioned are not good either in my opinion. I am a cabinet guy and I have needed a good cordless pinner for way too long. I will have to try the Milwaukee. Thanks for the awesome videos Spencer! Keep em coming.
Take it from a cabinet man who uses a pin nailer daily, this is the best I’ve owned. I’ve been through 2 pneumatic dewalts and 2 pneumatic Sencos. I’ve only had the Milwaukee hang up a few times when using Metbo nails from Lowe’s, Never when using Grex pins which I recommend.
I’m a cabinet maker and I’ve been using the makita 18 volt 23g and it’s pretty good
Have the Ryobi 23g and it has been impossible to kill so far. One jam in 4 years. It's my kitchen kick/cabinetry/punch list killer.
It’s also 4 x the size of the new Milwaukee 23 gauge pin nailer. I bet if you used the new Milwaukee Pin Nailer for 15 minutes you’d never want to go back to the Ryobi Pin Nailer.
@@martylucas8557 I am interested in it and it's 18g cousin. Just don't want to have to commit to yet another platform yet. I will wait for the job I am on to pay for it.
Just ordered!
It would be nice to see how it performs when nailing several trim pieces stacked. Like hardwood crown against the starter piece. I have noticed many pins tend to not fully set due to heavy recoil or little bounce from two pieces that are not sitting exactly flush or solidly. Makita gen two was terrible at that - I smashed it! . Pins sticking out on white prefinished cabinet grade trim leads to a lot of headaches since they are almost impossible to set without making a huge mess!
*Welcome Back*
I like the Porter cable pneumatic nailers
Received mine on Wednesday. I have been building 8' custom Walnut doors using glue and the new Milwaukee pinner. No issues yet. Heavier and not as responsive as the pnuematic Metabo, but a nice gun.
How has the pinner been for you so far.?
1:34 just made me like the video 😂 😋👍
Hmmmm......with Metabo HPT’s 18volt 23ga Pin Nailer with LIFETIME WARRANTY, ($229 as a kit with a 3Ah battery, charger, case and even goggles!) it’s hard to imagine springing for a 3-yr warranty Milwaukee (or is it a 5-yr warranty?) 23ga Pin Nailer! I love Milwaukee, but Metabo HPT is a serious contender, IMHO! Good video, youngster!
I think I’ll wait on it and see if anything bad comes up. But I would definitely buy it. I install cabinets and it’s a pain unloading all the tools and then loading them up after a long day. I believe it’s worth the cost if you consider the time you’ll save setting and packing up. It’s one less thing to worry about and it will fit in the pack out which is a plus. Save time where ever you can as long as it doesn’t affect quality of work
I personally use Hitachi gas fired 15 and 18 gauge nailers and Hitachi cordless battery 23 gauge.
My friend likes the battery 18 gauge Hitachi and it is pretty good.
Great for second stages and service work as well
Love you videos 👍🏻
I have been wanting to buy this gun since it was out in Canada. The states didn’t have it yet, so I signed up to a newsletter from a small tool shop in Canada. The first day they were available here in the states I ordered it right away and got it for $220 including bag, and battery. The United States marked it up so much. Maybe cause of COVID??
Anyways I’ve done 3 spec homes with it and used at most 4 sticks. No complaints here. Great gun. It’s the first generation 23g pin nailer, but comparing it to my 2nd gen 18g nailer it looks like it shares the same technology.
Own and use that Bostitch 23g nailer after having the “other” brands fail on me. No issues w/ the Bostitch & still going strong years L8R.
Your coming over to the red team😉
The red team is coming to the carpenters!
Great review Spencer. Too much of a luxury for myself. I have plenty of guns and an air compressor that runs 2 hoses. Would be a nice convenience but I can't justify it. Gave the video a like though. :)
Great review!! I’m a professional cabinet installer thinking about going all cordless. Many of my tools already are. 23 gauge and
table saw my biggest concerns.
Milwaukee's tablesaw is actually pretty damn impressive, not quite to the point of completely replacing a corded unit on all jobs, unless you have a massive amount of batteries, but it's definitely getting an option
I like the Gas cartridge Nailers .
Good insight. Can’t justify one, but I wish ... .
I also have makita, and it works very well.
