Thanks for a detailed explanation of how to use and change the pinking blades - yours is the first video I have ever seen to show how, especially the right way up for the nuts, hehe - thanks :)
And yet another FANTASTIC tutorial!!!! Laura: You're the best!!! I had NO IDEA that Olaf made pinking blades, let alone at least 3 different sizes of teeth. Thanks so much and keep making these VERY educational videos.
Hi and thank you so much for your explanation on these types of rotary blades. I have spares and it came with that "wavy" blade. Didn't know how to use it or for what it was for. I really love to watch your videos because you know how to explain and give detail and demonstrate and not so much blah blah blah and no show. So thank you again.
THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION ON THE PINKING BLADES. I SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU USE THEM IN A PROJECT. I HAVE HAD ONE FOR YEARS BUT NEVER DID USE IT. YET.. YOUR HINTS ARE SO GOOD AND APPRECIATED.
Thank You! This was exactly what I'm looking for. I have been using it mostly correct. Your video will hopefully remove all the little issues I've been having. I like to use the pinking blade to cut my quilt fabric. There is way less chance of large threads coming off.
Wanted to start by saying that your hair is so beautiful! I love this video. Before watching your video on pinking scissors, I had no idea this type of blade existed!
Thank you, yet again, for another example of your clear focused directions. I was loading the pieces in the wrong order and the nut upside down! No wonder the blade wobbled when I cut fabric. sheesh.
I always get one as a bonus when I buy a pack of blades but never knew how to properly us it. I also dropped the nut and washer and didn't know how to put it back properly. Thanks for showing me I had it upside down. That explains a lot. lol
I was just outside cutting picture frames and I noticed there are all kinds of jigs and clamps to make sure there's a perfect cut. Hmmmmm, woodworkers may be onto something. I think we need something to keep rotary cutter and ruler straight without relying on eyeballing. In future I think at least I will be using those squeeze clamps on the table edge to keep my ruler from shifting. I am not as strong as I used to be.
I've wanted to use one to cut 2 1/2" strips for future use. However, I'm unsure of how to use it when it comes to measuring. It is possible you could help me? Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'll be saving this for future use. Have a great day, Talena
I have found that The measurement is in the middle of the zigzag on Jelly rolls. But do what you want and make sure they are all the same. Keep that point in mind as you as sewing your1/4"
* * * Great video on the use and replacement steps... I bought what was labeled as a pinking blade... it is a wave blade. 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐮𝐭? Is either one of them as effective as pinking sheers...? * * * Until that time. . .
Just today I was wondering if there was such a thing as this and here it is! wonderful, now where do I get one from? I have the smaller straight edge one that works fine..
Thanks so much for this video! Very helpful tips! I've been looking for a pinking blade where the spacing between the "v's" is smaller (i.e. 4mm). Are you aware of any brands that make this? I've only found the more standard size pinking blades (i.e. 5mm). Thanks in advance!
Love all your videos and helpful hints, i just got a new machine, ready to quilt my first quilt however i donot have a darning foot, can i use any foot if it has and open toe i do have an open toe for decrotive stitching.. just want to kfinish my first real quilt...
I was thinking the same.... never used the ones that I get in my packs..... can anyone say why we would use them over the straight blades? Thank you (sorry to jump on ur comment millie)
Do you know if there are lefthanded rotary cutters? I bought a rotary cutter and found it impossible to use. I use Right handed scissors comfortably. However, I've found that holding a rotary cutter lefthanded is more comfortable. Anyone know where I might find lefty rotary cutter? Happy Holidays!
Most rotary cutter are designed both both left and right handed. They are set up for right handed but can be switched over for the left hand. here is a nice one ruclips.net/video/FVyz90EMLiI/видео.html hope this helps
I don’t think I have that large, yellow washer on my rotary cutter. It seems that is a necessary component to having the specialty blades work. Any advice?
I use pinking shears to ensure fabrics don't fray while I'm working with them.I LOVE my cutter, but this blade doesn't produce a pinking cut. It's a rounded shape, & doesn't prevent fraying, at all. I bought a six pack, before I realized they're useless for the advertised effect. Olfa & Fiskars are both guilty of this false advertising. I love sewing, but it's expensive & frustrating enough, without being duped into thinking a tool will make it less so.🤨

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I needed to know what blades are available for a specific job. 👍🏻

Thank you, Laura! I have the Olfa pinking blade, and love it. Now I will look for the wave blade for another edge option.

I was looking for a review on how these work. Thank you for doing one
I found that very informative and helpful. I'm going to look for the smaller pattern one to practice with first. Thanks for the tutorial.
Sensible top tips. Thank you so much.

Very good information, thanks!
Great video and I am going to look for those and mine is a Fiskars and I hope that you have a very blessed day tyfs
Sheila Daves I'd like to know if it works for you. I also have Fiskars.
Useful tips. Thanks a lot.
How do I access all your previous Tuesday tips?

Until that time. . .
I have found them to be both the same to stop the fraying. :)
I found the same with fiskars. They call it pinking. But its not the same and looks nothing like the package. :( my material still frayed
Just today I was wondering if there was such a thing as this and here it is! wonderful, now where do I get one from? I have the smaller straight edge one that works fine..
Can the pinking blade be sharpened?

no sorry:)

Yes that should work, just don't forget to put your feed dogs down:)
Thank you, great tutorial! Not sure what or how I would sew with material that's been cut with pinking blade? What projects are they used for?
I was thinking the same.... never used the ones that I get in my packs..... can anyone say why we would use them over the straight blades? Thank you (sorry to jump on ur comment millie)
I always wondered about the curved washer
I have pinking blades however I hardly use them. Maybe you could show us a quilt using them?
can these be sharpened
Thank you for the video! Which blade is the best to stop fraying?
they all work about the same for fraying:)
Dry good information

Some have it and others do not. It will depend on the brad
Awesome

Same, $13 wasted. It goes back to joannes tomorrow.
I'm,taking the blade back to joannes. It wont even cut. Wth?
why would you need an pinking or wave blade for???
It is used mostly for sewing, not quilting. It replaces the zigzag stitch :)
